Must read series

Oh how I hate I have no more Cade's Cove books to read unless Aiden James has a secret I don't know about. This last part of the series was filled with anything and everything one looks for in a paranormal-normal-magic book with characters that you can solidly relate to. I thoroughly enjoyed this series revolving around where I lived and visited. I can't stop reading. The flow of the book is realistic. One book readily moves to the next. There is no excess repetition of what brought us to this point. So, my advice read the whole series and in order. This would make a great mini series (hint hint Amazon Prime.)

The Hobbs family and their Native American friends just can't catch a break!! Devil Mountain, third book in the series is as good as the first two!! Like I have said since reading this series, I will never look at Cades Cove or the Great Smoky Mountains the same way ever again. I don't know if any of the legends and stories written about here come from history or the mind of James. Either way this is an awesome series. Best part... judging from the ending of Devil Mountain, John and Evelyn's adventures just may not be over!! I sure hope there is more to come!!

I loved this series and hated to have it end! Who doesn't love a good ghost story based on one of the most beautiful places in the world?! I hope this isn't the end for John Running Deer and all the crew! Would love for more stories to go on!

Just finished reading "Devil Mountain" (Cades Cove Series Book 3), by Aiden James. This book is steeped in American Indian and Gallic folklore and myth, and was a fantastic read. This (according to the author), is not the last we will hear from the Hobbs and Running Deer clan...and I for one am so glad to hear that. I loved all 3 of these books, but for now I must be content with what was given and leave the Hobbs and Running Deer clan to their quests and wait for the story to continue in the future.

Great read

I always enjoy visiting John Running Deer and his fellow malevolent spirit hunting crew. It's also great to see so much of the beauty of East Tennessee featured and introduced to readers everywhere. I'm excited to read book 4. Loved every page. The fact that Aiden James is a local writer just adds another layer of enjoyment.

If you're looking for a great supernatural thriller, settle into your favorite reading book and let John introduce you to Brigindo and her evil siblings! Most of the action takes place in the equally beautiful state of North Carolina, but there is a dash of TN added. Happy reading y'all.

Great end (maybe?) to a wonderful trilogy

After getting a recommendation from a member of an online group I’m in for the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg TN area, I checked out this series. Definitely worth the read! Each book is better than the last and I absolutely fell in love with the characters, especially John and Evelyn! Slightly spooky but not too bad, at least for me, this is a must read that did not disappoint!

Recent story, painful delivery

Once again the story was adequate but the author's word choice detracted from the storytelling. There was a level of awkward phrasing and unbelievable dialogue that irritated me constantly. Oh well.

Great author book okay

I love this author and enjoyed reading his first two books. The details he used to express his story left a clear picture. I would say this book felt rushed and then imagery was just not there this time. It will not keep me from reading his next book in a few minutes from now. Everyone has a day were things just do not fit perfectly. This book is the case for Mr. James. I love how he does keep the friendship and his granddaughter relationship.

My Review: As always I add the synopsis for you to read what the book is about .. My review is for my feelings and how the book affected me .. I am a HUGE fan of Aiden James and I read everything he writes.. Devil Mountain is the first in a new series spun off of "Cades Cove" (Which is a whole other review and the scariest book I have EVER read) ..With some of the same characters on a mission to stop ancient god like beings from returning from their bound graves to cause havoc on humanity! We see John Running Deer his granddaughter, Evelyn and The Hobbs family ! and with John and Evelyn come their abilities ... We learn about Indian Culture .. about how disturbing Sacred Burial Ground is BAD! The Loyalty of family and friends (who would you get your head torn off for?) AND as he does best Mr. James ..scares the daylight out of you! This book is sooo educational in tradition, magic and the Love of people ! I HIGHLY recommend Devil Mountain!! I give this book 5 Shrouds... (you're gonna need them )

HE'S DONE IT AGAIN!

It's really hard for an author to get me interested in books when I'm not interested in the majority in that category. I'm interested in books from different genres, but this type of book usually doesn't interest me. In fact, when I start reading a book of this type, I almost never make it past the first couple of chapters. This series has definitely been an exception. I've loved all three. I just have a hard time keeping my mind interested in things that are just too far out for me to grasp, but these books captured my interest early on and kept it all the way through.
This book ends with a vision that hints at a possible fourth book, and if that's the case, I can't wait for that one. In this one, John is the main focus, whereas in the first, David was, and in the second, both families I think held a pretty equal focus. It was interesting to go through the harrowing events through John's eyes, since he grew up more Cherokee than even Evelyn and definitely more than David and his family. By the end of the book, it looks like John might be embracing more of his Cherokee heritage instead of just trying to live a normal life, whatever "normal" is.

"Nearly six years have passed since trouble visited Cades Cove". After reading just the opening sentence of this story, I was hooked. The Cades Cove books are some of my very favorite by Aiden James, and Devil Mountain does not disappoint. It is the first book in the Cades Cove Mystery Chronicles and is told from the viewpoint of John Running Deer. Many of the characters from the original books are back, and this time they find themselves up against the brothers and sisters of Teutates. The story was fast-paced and at times terrifying. The characters were intriguing and well formed, and it was wonderful to return to the lives of the friends and see what had been going on over the past six years. Now the only problem is waiting to see what happens to this group on their next adventure. I am ready for the next book now!

Written from the first person view of John Running Dear, the story opens with the Hobbs family visiting when John detects the spirit of Galienna, the spirit guardian of four ossuaries holding the remains of Gallic vampiric deities which had been buried for centuries following their millennia of terror.

One burial box has been breached during construction of an upscale housing development outside Cherokee, NC and that demon is on the rampage. John fears that if left to her own devices, she will free her three siblings and unleash unsurpassed horror on the innocents living in the area.

Join John, Evelyn and the Hobbs family as they attempt to restrain the deities and secure a halt of further construction and possible destruction of all four ossuaries.

Mr Hobbs' Vacation

He ain't no Jimmy Stewart, but Mr Hobbs, still knows how to plan a vacation. With his best Friend Running Dear and super Shaman Evelyn, add in an ancient God with a bad attitude and a score to settle and you have the makings of a "can't put it down", one of a kind trip into unreality.
