Monstrous Serpent: A Dark MM Hockey Romance

Rate this book
I was never anyone's first choice. Until two monsters made me their only one.

One bad decision leads me into the woods and straight into the hands of two masked strangers who chase me through the dark, pin me down, and leave me questioning everything I thought I knew about myself.

Then I learn who they are.

Serpents.

And not just any Serpents, but six-foot-ten Hunter Kincaid and his other half, six-foot-eight Atlas Trembley.

Atlas gets under my skin like a splinter. He fights me, steals from me, and doesn't care that I want to kill him. He's counting on it.

Hunter doesn't speak. He takes. He decides. And he's decided on me.

They even call me Little Titan like I belong to them.

The worst part?

I want to belong to the two hockey players who fight over marshmallows and look at me like I'm the best thing that's ever happened to them.

But Hunter's past isn't done with him. And when it threatens to tear us apart, I learn exactly what kind of monsters my Serpents are.

I'm a romance author who loves Over The Top alpha males who are possessive and completely obsessed with their person or mate. Nothing will get in their way from claiming what's theirs. I enjoy writing darker type romances whether in the contemporary world, PNR worlds, or even post-apocalyptic worlds.

How the fuck do you explain that you love two psycho dipshits who kill people?

Thank God for this book because it's the only good thing I read all week. I absolutely loved it!!! Cody realizes his girlfriend is cheating on him and rushes out to confront her, only to end up being chased through the woods primal-play style by 2 of his hockey rivals. After he very enthusiastically gets off from the whole experience (untouched!! 🔥🥵🔥) he has to take a good look at whether he might be into men. But the fun doesn't stop there! The two hockey players chasing him are besties Hunter and Atlas. Hunter is absolutely gigantic (height and 🍆) and is kind of this hulking stoic daddy-energy type hottie. Atlas is pure golden retriever, and completely obsessed with Hunter. As soon as the three of them meet, it's over in the most deliciously over the top "HE'S OURS" type of way that I can't get enough of.
I’ve been here before. Wanting someone who doesn’t want me back yet doing it anyway because my body doesn’t give me a goddamn choice in the matter. But Hunter said ours. And my best friend doesn't let go of things he's claimed. This time, neither will I.

This book was really fabulous and saved me from a book slump. There were so many adorable details throughout the book. Each character feels distinct and has a personal issue they're struggling with. Hypervigilant perfectionist Cody wants to be chosen and appreciated for who he is, and is trying to figure out how to succeed at school and sports with a learning disability. He's not the most talented out on the ice, but he never gives up. Cutie-pie-but-a-slob Atlas has his own mental health struggles and worries about a future away from Hunter, who makes him feel safe. He's been hopelessly in love with Hunter for years but doesn't have much hope of being with him until they meet Cody. Hunter had a pretty horrific upbringing, and is trying to reconcile his childhood issues with the man he is today. He needs a healthy outlet for his rage, and seems to have found that in hockey and murdering bad guys on the weekends.
Atlas is interested. More interested than I’ve ever seen him. And I’ll make sure my best friend gets whatever he wants. But Jenkins is different for me too. Can’t explain it.

Unlike most MMM books, the sex didn't feel like a weirdly descriptive game of Twister. and each MC felt vital to the relationship. And on top of all that, the obligatory DP scene didn't feel obligatory at all 🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵. Each character felt important to the overall dynamic, and there was no angst over being in a throuple (aside from Cody's initial resistance to being in a relationship with men, which had more to do with their hockey rivalry than their gender). They each have their own relationship duos, and a different dynamic as a trio. I loved how it takes time for Atlas and Hunter to focus on their own relationship because they're so completely attuned to Cody in the beginning. It all just worked for me.
I’m talking now, and you’re going to fucking listen.” My breaths come out ragged, my chest heaving. “I’ve always wanted you. You. And I can’t hide it anymore. Yes, I want Cody. But I want you too.”

There were only a couple things I didn't vibe with. Cody's girlfriend was really terrible to him in a way that was unnecessary to the story. I love OTT possessive MCs but OTT shitty women bug me for some reason. Also, while it's realistic for sports ball players to refer to each other by their last names, it made an already large cast of characters a bit tougher to follow than it needed to be. I've read- and enjoyed- all the books in this universe but for the first book in a few series, it referenced past characters a lot. So we have Cody and Atlas and Hunter, but also Jenkins and whatever Atlas and Hunter's last names are, plus two full hockey teams of names. I wish I was better at remembering names but I'm not and after awhile I gave up trying to keep track of who was who.
They have no fucking idea about the monsters we are. Monsters who will do anything to protect what is ours. Even if that means keeping our boyfriend tied up in our room to keep him out of harm’s way. Because no one is taking Cody Jenkins away from us.

The other thing I like is that while these characters don't always communicate well or make the best choices, it's all age appropriate. These aren't college kids who speak like grown-ass men, and their foolish yet hilarious banter and antics made me laugh out loud a few times. They're a pack of lovable idiots and I just really enjoyed it all.

This MMM dark hockey romance was intense, primal, possessive, and chaotically fun. I loved ownership energy. The dynamic between the three MCs was the highlight of this story. Hunter is the broody protector with a heartbreaking backstory, and I absolutely loved atlas and his chaotic energy. His car is a disaster, his room is a mess, he can't find anything, and just accidentally kidnaps a dog on a whim. His lack of a filter was fun.

The obsession and protectiveness these two had for Cody was perfect. They were dominant and in charge, but it never overshadowed the genuine love and completion he provided in their dynamic.

The first half was leaning towards 4 to 4.5 star read. Unfortunately, the pacing in the second half hit a wall. The tension faded, and I found myself struggling to stay invested. Still was a mostly fun read.

3.5 ⭐⭐⭐

actually a surprisingly good time. it was hot, easy, funny, endearing... exactly what i wanted.

it read very similarly to a lot of the rina kent MM books and i'm not massively upset about that. sure, it was formulaic and predictable, but there is a reason for that: it works. it makes a good story.

the dark aspect wasn't as dark as i was expecting, given it's marketed as a dark romance, but honestly i didn't care that much. a lot of these 'dark' MM romances fail to live up to the dark aspect and just falls into the murder hobo tropes.

i think a lot of my problems with this book is that it is marketed as a stand alone, but there is SO much lore from olsen's previous series about the titans and so many character and couple mentions that i found myself getting lost. i needed like a cheat sheet of all the couples, which team they belong to and which was their book. i had to google a lot of information, but there isn't much out there at all. olsen needs to do an instagram post of existing world lore tbh.

there was too much assumed knowledge for a standalone for my liking.

i haven't actually read an MMM before and i liked it (although not sure how 2 dicks can fit in someones ass, but you learn something new everyday i guess). atlas was an incredible character, like really funny and super likeable. i could honestly take or leave hunter and cody was a really nice counterpart to both of them.

hunter's past i thought came a little out of nowhere (this made up the 'dark' aspect). it might have been mentioned in previous books, but again as a standalone i think there needed a lot more setup. especially with regards to the history with atlas.

however, it was incredibly readable and like really fkin hot. 🔥

I give up. Truly. Dark romance? Is it though? The transition between rivals to lovers was pretty fucking abrupt with zero lead up. First they were stalking him and beating up him up, mentioning a fear kink, next he was riding them without shame or fear anywhere in the mix. Did I miss a chapter? Like it’s a decent read if you don’t like any meat in your plot.

Ok, THIS is the potential I could see with the North Shore Titans series!!! This book is by far the best EV Olsen has written and it makes me so excited for the rest of the series. I didn't want this book to end and I could have easily read a few hundred more pages about these three.

It's no secret I love an unhinged MC (or two) so Atlas and Hunter were right up my alley! I loved how possessive they were over Cody and each other, and how insanely aggressive they were to threats. Their hunt was interesting too and I hope we get to learn more about that as the series goes on.

Atlas is probably my favourite of the three though. He's such a sweetheart and just wants love, attention and physical contact - he's basically a murderous golden retriever! The way he's been pining for Hunter for YEARS was adorable and the way he got so emotional had me feeling all gross and squishy 😂😂 I loved how he knew Hunter would always be there for him too, and even after their fight, they find a way to get through it together.

Cody just made me want to hug him and constantly give him pep talks. I hate how he perceives himself as stupid because he's dyslexic! I wanted to shake him but hug him at the same time. I loved how supportive Atlas and Hunter were of him though, and the way they refused to let him speak negatively about himself. Cody's journey through the book was definitely fun to read, although I do wish we'd gotten a bit more explanation around the friction between him and his older brother.

Hunter was definitely the caretaker of the group, and he deals with so much responsibility over what happened to Atlas. The whole thing with his bio family was just so heartbreaking, but I'm glad he had Atlas's family and then Cody and his family to love him. I loved how he let Atlas get away with so much too!

It was also fun to get a proper introduction to the rest of the Serpents. I think Shaw is the one I'm most intrigued by so I can't wait to get a story for him. Having Reed as an assistant coach was also pretty funny, and I loved the cameo from Killian.

Although I did love this book and couldn't put it down until it finished, I do feel like it's more of an HFN than HEA, so I hope there'll be a novella or an extended epilogue at the end of the series because I want more concrete answers about their futures. Do they all go to their NHL teams or does the hockey dream die for some/none/all? How does Cody get along with Atlas's family when they finally meet? Where do they live? Does Hunter decide to become a chef instead? I just want a more solid resolution of where they end up because it makes me sad to think they'll be apart after graduation!!!

Monstrous Serpent is an intense romance that kept me on the edge of my seat due to the many different elements of each relationship and dynamic that were constantly evolving and turning in a new direction that kept me invested, surprised, and completely enthralled with Hunter, Atlas, and Cody as the navigated their complicated dynamic, but couldn't stay away from one another, even when it appeared impossible.

What really surprised me with this story is the depth of the feelings everyone had for one another. Initially, Hunter and Atlas seem more like platonic friends, but you quickly realize their bond is much more intense because of a variety of shocking, heartbreaking factors that made their connection so powerful. Also, with the addition of Cody, Hunter and Atlas have an outlet for their feelings for one another, which quickly pivots towards Cody, which was exhilarating and highly entertaining.

Overall, I really enjoyed this story; it has so many surprises and gives little hints along the way of potential future pairings that I cannot wait to see develop. This series is off to a great start, and I cannot wait for the next one.

Although this is the first book in a series, it is in the same world as a different series that the author expects you to have read already, so not much made sense. I would have gone back to read the other series first if the writing wasn’t so mediocre. Not worth the time and effort.

Once more, I'm utterly in love!
This is the start of the spin off series The South Side Serpents. We finally get to see more of the rivals of the North Shore Titans. All of course while also getting more than just glimpses of old and familiar names and faces.
This book truly reeled me in! I absolutely loved it! Temu Slenderman was total gold 😂 The way those three find to each other and their dynamics, it's right on top of my favourite MM romance list next to Rina Kent and Lily Mayne books.
And the sports romance! E.V. Olsen writes the best sports romance I've ever read! The sport is not just a glossed over factor here! The author truly goes in and delivers! It drags you right into the game and lets you cheer for your favourite team! The author definitely knows their ice hockey!
I can't wait for Rua's book! Already hyped!

So if you love hockey and want a sizzling and slightly violent MM romance - you can't miss out on E.V. Olsen's series!

Somewhere between 2.5 and 2.75 stars, I guess? This was one of those bonkers, not-very-well-written books that was pretty quick and easy to get through; the kind of book that I didn't think was very good, but was kinda fun, so I continued reading it. Not great praise, but hey! I finished it.

(Minor spoilers below.)

It's a dark, college, sports romance (none of which are particular genre favourites of mine) between two best friends on one hockey team, and their rival on another. I will say that this book is probably best read after reading the author's previous series. I started reading it, and I got a little confused by all the established background characters that it seemed like the book thought I already knew. I checked to make sure that it was the first book in a series, and yep, it was. I figured that the author just REALLY didn't want to info-dump (which I appreciated) and would parcel out important stuff later on. It was only until halfway through the book that I checked the author's page and realised that she had a whole other series where these characters, and the background characters, were introduced before. I suppose this could still be read as a standalone, but after all my confusion and annoyance, I don't recommend it.

(And honestly, I'm not sure how much of that is because we're reading about characters that were introduced in another series, or because the author didn't do a good job with pacing and world-building and plot-building and backstory. In the last couple of chapters, we were still learning things about the main characters that probably should have been introduced in the first act. And look, I get wanting to keep the readers in suspense, and obviously you should never just dump a whole backstory on readers in the beginning. But this was just sooooooo weirdly paced. A rigorous edit could and should have sorted this out.)

It's a book that's written for its tropes. Hunter and Atlas are big beefy hockey players with dark pasts who do dark things. (Which... I'm sorry. I know it's become a trope, but I'll never be able to take "college students do vigilante justice and murder as a way to control their ~dark urges~" very seriously.) It's rivals/enemies to lovers, since Cody is on an opposing team, and he and Atlas often have fights on the ice, but that gets dropped pretty soon. There's a hint of primal play and fear kink, but that also disappears once they start dating. Which happens at what feels like the speed of light.

I love friends to lovers, so I was happy to have the Hunter/Atlas arm of the triangle, where they've been best friends for years, and demi Atlas has only ever REALY been attracted to Hunter (and soon Cody) but Hunter doesn't want to ruin the friendship. Classic trope setup, but I do like it. It just bothered me that sometimes, Hunter seemed a little TOO mean? Most of it was meant in jest, but yikes. Also, his man-of-few-words, lack of communication thing was so annoying, and not sexy at all. Also also, I feel like he should have DEFNITELY had to do some hardcore grovelling for beating the shit out of Atlas at the end. Yikes!

The trio's romance and chemistry were pretty fun. Over the top possessive, but that's what it said on the tin, so I won't complain. (Even so, I really wish there'd been some sort of build-up to them becoming obsessed with Cody. When it goes from 0 to 100, it's always a let down. Obsessive/possessive MCs are so much better when there's substance and meat behind it!) There was some good banter, especially with Atlas. The shenanigans with Cody's dog made me giggle. I liked the depiction of Cody's dyslexia, especially the fact that there was no easy or magical solution. I kinda wish we'd gotten more of them trying to help him through it, but the scene at the end more than made up for it. I also really liked the fact that Cody wasn't instantly, miraculously okay with his boyfriends being vigilante murderers, because that's a lot. The hockey scenes were kinda fun, though I must admit, most of it went over my head. More than it usually does in sports romance. I've read hockey books before, but I'm sorry, I'm not a sporty dyke; I can't be bothered to retain this stuff.

The writing, like I said, left something to be desired. Besides the bad pacing and the scores of background characters and scenes where I just felt out of the loop, it was also just, a little cringe? Several places where I thought, 'Do we really want to use that word/phrase?' There was a twerking competition which filled me with so much pena ajena I had to back button out of the ebook for a couple minutes. Also minus points for Cody using AI to edit a stupid dick pic. I don't care about fictional characters using AI; it's only fictional water. But I hate how prevalent AI and its usage is becoming, to the point of being referenced in books, and being reminded of it made me cranky, so I'm taking it out on the rating. I am fickle and petty!

This review is full of so many complaints that now my rating actually seems generous, but I swear, I did mostly have fun with this. It was silly and smut-heavy and bonkers and emotional at the right times, and I flew through it. I don't think I'm particularly interested in continuing the series, but you never know, I guess.

4.8 ⭐️
spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/5
format: ebook

whoa. i had no idea what to expect with this book—i hadn’t yet read north shore titans when i picked this up—but i was so positively surprised.

mmm doesn’t always work for me. i’m very picky about whether relationship dynamics feel fair and balanced. but i really loved the three of them together. i enjoyed the fact that hunter and atlas were best friends kinda dancing around their feelings for one another, and their mutual attraction and eventual love for cody is what finally brought them together.

i really enjoyed them each individually as characters. cody was sweet and bratty and a little insecure. atlas was fun and chaos and a lot of impulsive behaviors. hunter was stoic and loyal and willing to burn the world down for both of them. i really had the best time with this story.

now i think the only thing keeping this from being five stars for me was how pertinent the side characters were to the story. there was a huge influx of names and i felt lost quite often (even after my bestie connor got me on a phone call and tried to clear up who everyone was—he’s the mvp). i wish i had read north shore titans before this but now that i’ve read them all i can’t wait to go back and reread with all the background info.

i am super excited to see more of the serpents get their happy endings!

*i received an advanced copy of this book from the author and this is my voluntary, honest review.

This was truly an “interesting” book. So many people that I trust on TikTok were saying this is THE book that is MMM done well , and now I’m here sitting confused. 50% into the book they haven’t had one decent conversation and yet “you’re mine” is already just out there. 8% later and we are calling each other boyfriends… what the actual f is going on here 😅

There is definitely chemistry between the 3 main characters, won’t lie you had me in the first few chapters! But very soon we just lost steam and lost the entire plot. So many internal conflicts were never properly addressed and somehow resolved.

1. Cody struggles with his dyslexia, which makes him feel inferior. This we see in the beginning because he’s pining after a girlfriend that doesn’t gaf about him and the fact that he feels people judge him and don’t include him in things. Well guess what this is mentioned and palpable in the first few chapter and then COMPLETELY forgotten LOL.

2. Hunter has been through a traumatic childhood and he had an older brother he apparently felt very conflicted about leaving behind. Did we properly explore this? Well ofcourse not. Mentioned briefly in the last 20% of the book.

3. Atlas somehow killed Hunters father and was kidnapped by said fathers brother and Hunters older brother. This has left him so traumatized he can’t/won’t walk anywhere on his own. How do we “cure” this fear? Oh he has to pick up his boyfriend from tutoring. FIXED.

Then we have all the random ass side characters that are either mentioned so often I was confused if this was book 4 in a series or book 1. Or mentioned for absolutely no reason (Coby older brother, Nathalie..) like why are you people heeeere. I looked and apparently the characters are part of previous series but come on! Either you make a interconnected standalone or you don’t. Because this was doing too much.

This book was just so bad all you people saying 5 stars are lying straight up lying. Didn’t even get a lovemaking scene where all three were participating… ohhh I’m pissed!

Badly executed MMM in my opinion. And the worst thing is the ingredients were all there! Friends to lover and a perfect third that could glue them together. A flop I fear. I did like the characters together but I missed why they should be together and why they loved each other. Can’t give this more than a one fr.

This book actually got me into MMM, and honestly, I’m so glad I gave it a chance. I’ve always struggled with the genre because I sometimes feel like one of the three ends up being pushed to the side or doesn’t get the same amount of love, and I just can’t get into that But here? I LOVED the dynamic between them ,the three of them felt equally important.

Hunter was EVERYTHING. So damn grumpy, I loved him Atlas had me laughing so much, and I’m pretty sure he’s my favorite. And Cody… 🥹 I absolutely adored him. He’s so sweet, but I loved that he has such a strong personality and doesn’t just let people walk all over him.
Honestly, I had such a good time reading this. It completely pulled me out of my reading slump when I was struggling to finish anything, and now I just want MORE.

P.S. If you have any MMM recs where all three are equally in love, equally invested, and nobody feels like the odd one out, PLEASE send them my way I’m begging✍️💋

2.5 stars, rounded. Not bad but not mind-blowing. I haven’t read an MMM romance in a LONG time. I’ve honestly strayed from that trope due to how unbalanced it usually ends up being. This one wasn’t perfect, but it wasn’t completely horrible. I just wish the romance felt more genuine. It was lust-filled, if anything.

"And now nothing looks the way I pictured it. It's better. Complete in a way I didn't know I could have." 🥹❤️♾️

Aaaah I really enjoyed this book!! This is a dark MMM hockey romance and I went into it completely blind. I’ve never read anything by this author before (although I do have one of her other books on my shelf), so I honestly didn’t know what to expect. But I definitely did NOT expect to have such a good time with this book! This book made me laugh, it made me cry, it kept me on the edge of my seat, it had hurt/comfort, it had broken boys, it was dark. So that basically means it had everything I love.

After the first 15% I was already sad because of baby Cody😭 I felt so bad for him and the way he thought so poorly of himself. Somehow I immediately felt so much for him and wished him nothing but the best.. What I really loved, was that despite everything, Cody was still so mouthy and he never let people walk all over him and fought back. I loved that about him!

And then we have our two psychos Hunter and Atlas.🥹 The further we got into the story, the more attached I became to both of them. Learning about all the trauma they had been through and all the tension that had been building between them for years.. it really hit me in my feels.🥺

Especially the last 30% hit me emotionally. I just needed the book to hurry up because I NEEDED their HEA. The relationship between these three had so many obstacles standing in their way and everything went to complete shit, but in the end I thought it was SO beautiful seeing them finally figure things out and be there for each other!🥹❤️

I do have the feeling that if you’ve read the other series by this author, that this book might hit even better because so many characters make an appearance again. (Not sure tho because I haven’t read it) Having that extra familiarity with the world would probably make the experience even more enjoyable.

I’m rating this 4 stars because I really really loved it and I’m definitely going to continue with the next book in this series! Thank you so much for the ARC! 🤍🤍

Cody Jenkins has a hunch his girlfriend is cheating on him so when he follows her into the woods to catch her, he didn't expect to be caught himself by two masked men who turn out to be rivals he faces on the ice regularly. Atlas and Hunter begin stalking their little Titan and declare him theirs, but when their dark pasts catch up with them and they have to tell Cody the truth, will he still choose them or will it be too much?
I feel like I have been waiting forever for this book and I am so glad it did not disapoint. It was hit, funny and gritty with plenty of action. The only flaw, I couldn't keep up with the names. Two sets of team members, plus family was a lot; and because hockey players switch between using first and last names, my head was sometimes left spinning. That's a me problem tho and I still loved every bit of it!

MMM killer (pun intended) sports romance

Cody suspects his gf is lying to him about where shes been going and follows her out one night to find himself in a primal chase by masked men. He finds her getting railed (tea 👀) and later finds himself between a rock (Atlas) and a very HARD place (Hunter)…… he’s not gay but he comes untouched 💦 at the idea of being stuck between two masked men.

little does know they’re his rivals 🏒

the tension between the 3 of them in the beginning is exquisiteeeee

top it all off the yearning was so delicious I can’t even begin to describe it, im a sucker for hidden pining so Atlas and Hunter being best friends since childhood and secretly in love with each other but not acting on it had me goinggg 🥴😮‍💨😫

my only qualm about this book was the tension the first half was 🔥 but the second half wasn’t all the way there for me. hence, my indecisiveness about my rating because i started this book knowing i would rate it a 4.5/5 and then it dwindled down.

I absolutely loved this book. 🥹 Atlas, Cody, and Hunter have such a beautiful, sweet, and genuinely wholesome relationship, and I loved how well their dynamic balanced the cute and soft moments with the spicy and darker ones. Their relationship felt so natural, and I honestly couldn't get enough of the three of them together.

This is officially my new favorite MMM. They took the first place without even trying, and I already know I'm going to be thinking about these three for a while. I loved them SO much. 💗

This is why I sometimes have trouble trusting the hype. This had potential, some cute moments, spice was interesting. But beyond that, the plot was ridiculous, the characters were OTT, and while i generally don’t mind instalust, it was almost cartoonishly funny how they were just instantly popping boners and exploding from literally nothing. How many times do we need to read the nicknames “Little Titan” and “Little Jenkins” and “Little J”? The answer is not much, they are a little cringe but a few sprinkled in here and there wouldn’t be bad. But it was literally every other page little titan this little jenkins that. Was an ordeal to finish but in keeping with 2026, this sucked and I now have more trust issues with books that are hyped.

DNF CLEARLY written by ai. i can’t believe people can’t tell. crazy the author put a “don’t feed my work into ai” when the book is filled with ai slop. omg please write your own work.

1.5 🌟

I really, really wanted to love this but I just didn't. On paper this was a top favourite and everything made me exited but I just didn't get the feels I wanted and instead felt irritated.

I will say I read the whole book so the story must have had a grip on me and I wanted to find out the answers which is why I have rounded it to a 2 star rating. There were great bits.

Positive:
The relationship between Hunter and Atlas was great! I felt the connection and I was rooting for them to come together.
The dark side to those characters hit the spot and the whole hunting side to them was great. I wanted to reveal the reasons as to why these character were the way they were.

Negatives:
The relationship between Hunter and Cody was none existent, there was no reason at all in this book as to why they loved each other.
Hunter constantly grunting and having no personality.
I didn't get the explanation I wanted about Hunters past, i feel like it was rushed over.
The sheer amount of side characters that were heavily part of this story confused the life out of me, it states you can read this without reading the previous series but I would beg to differ because I lost interested when names were mentioned.
The deep detail that was put into the hockey games, I know this is a hockey book but there was more detail in the games than the characters background and the final drama. I ended up skipping through the games because I found it boring, especially because there were so many names thrown in.
Cody's little brother was put across as a big part of this book yet you barely get any depth to him and actually annoyed me when he had the bad relationship with Hunter in the end (which again was never really explained as to why)
In my opinion there was not enough about them as boyfriends, once they all got to the boyfriends part the book was over
Don't get me started on the epilogue, I honestly think it was the worst one I have ever read.

I am not bashing this book, all my negative points are little things but to me it kind of ruined the book. If you like these tropes I would recommend you give it a go.

This was fun! I was expecting it to be possible to read it as a standalone with some references to the Titans series. However, as I read along, it became apparent that you really need to have read Titan series to fully understand the context of the side characters and many of the side plot movements happening off page. Without that context, it felt a little disorienting and like I was left out of the inside jokes. Despite that, I enjoyed the main characters and the world set up here. It would have been nice if there was enough explanation or callback style writing to be able to jump into this world without having to read a preceding series. I do want to eventually go back and read the Titans series because the writing was great and the banter was fun.

It's hot & I got hooked from the start, then was kept by story & the chemistry. I enjoyed it.

At end, I wanted more, but I get the plot focused & as relationship progressed, shit happened off page in classic EV olsen style 😅. Really wished we saw Atlas say ILY back to Cody tho, all ILY were said to eachother & only his was left 😭. But the love is shown through their actions so I'm ok...!

Now this is a hockey Romance but it's a Dark Hockey Romance so please check those TWs before heading in. Also this is book 1 in the South Shore Serpents series it comes after the North Shore Titans series. You don't need to read that one in order to read this series but it might help with some background!

🌶🌶🌶

Cody is not having a great night. After following his now EX girlfriend he winds up in a Primal Play Chase through the forest being hunted by 2 masked men. Cody has come face to face with what happens when your caught so he is doing everything he can to out run these two but Cody is severely unprepared for this and even though he puts up a good fight the 2 masked men catch him. The night doesn't turn out the way Cody expects and he does make it free from his 2 hunters only to later find out that not only does he know the 2 men they are his biggest rivals Atlas and Hunter.
Atlas and Hunter have been attached at the hip forever. They survived something as teens that almost no one could and it cemented their bond. So when Atlas decides he wants Cody, Hunter just makes it happen. It takes a bit of time for Cody to see past the rivalry but just as he starts warming up to the idea, the past Atlas and Hunter thought they got away from comes back full force and when Cody get side lined he learns more about his 2 men than he was prepared for. Cody has to choose now does he go on with his plain scripted life or does he accept Hunter and Atlas...dark parts and all...
Wow was this a kick off to the new series! I loved these guys and getting to see into the Serpents world! Atlas Cody and Hunter each had broken parts but they just fit together. You got a master class in acceptance and forgiveness from these guys. I am very excited to see more from the Serpents especially Cap and Shaw! Like extremely excited for Shaw 🤣

4.5 ⭐️
I love them your honour! It was so good to be back in this world, but getting more insight into the Serpents this time. Give me a psycho hockey player any day but TWO ugh you spoil us. Plus their rival yes please. MMM? More like "mmm yeah" (cheesy sorry). The plot was great, the spice was great, the love could have been a tiny bit more developed but it was also great. Double whammy of enemies to lovers and best friends to lovers, what's not to like. I can't wait for the next book! This ended in a HFN so I hope we can see Hunter, Atlas and Cody's HEA a few years down the line at some point in this series.
