This book was weird because it starts out from the point of view of a stalker and it seems like it will be your typical, not too impressive story. but then there's a twist that I found very interesting. but then about halfway through, something happens and the POV focus changes and I started to lose interest after that.
Amy was obsessed with her targets. Not just obsessed but psychologically in a relationship with them before she even got to know them.
She stalked her victims if we should call them that, she watched their every move and replicated their lives inside her own home to make them happy when they finally agreed to be in a relationship with her.
However, she fell short when she targeted Hannah ~ Hummingbird. Hannah knew Amy, hannah knew what Amy was capable of. After all she was a detective on a case to solve the murder of Amy's last victim, she was setting Amy up to take her to the Grave of Maria.
It did become clear this was the case about 40% through but I feel the vocabulary and the storytelling was really good. Therefore, this book gets a 3.5 stars. Very good for a short story.

Have to say I did not like this book. I enjoyed the first in this three volume story. But this was slow the first half and then spiraled into crazy territory. We meet her boyfriend once then he disappears and is not there as she continues to lose control. The police have no interest in finding the body. In every police procedural I have read they need the body for the Coroner’s Inquest. Dogs, penetrating ground radar are brought in. Especially since they feel they know the general area to search.
What is madness, obsession, post-traumatic stress, intuition? How does the human brain process and integrate all the information? And what ultimately happens?
It wss fine, and I didn't see the ending coming....it was weird how the point of view horse suddenly switched hallway through.and then it took a whole other direction.
(This was more of a 2.5 stars for me.) I was really feeling this at the start. It pulled me in immediately, and I thought I was going to be in for one hell of a roller coaster, but then it sort of fell flat in the second half. Once the POV changed, it felt stilted and unnatural, and while it made sense that Hannah would do and act the way she did, it just didn't seem to fit with the rest of the story. It felt almost like the author wanted to throw in a supernatural element in a story that didn't need it. It was a let down because the beginning of the story was so, so promising.
It has not thrown me off from reading more of Dickson's work though, because I'm currently reading 'Pictures of You' and enjoying it. So it goes to show that just because you may not 100% enjoy one piece of work by an author that you may enjoy something else by them.
I really enjoyed this authors' writing style. Diane Dickson knows how to tell an intriguing story and keep readers hanging on until the last turned page. When Amy Jobson follows, let's say stalks, shall we. the woman she calls Humming Bird and then later Hannah, the reader follows as an innocent bystander watching to see where this unlikely friendship between strangers is going to go.Readers get ready for a few twists and turns as what you think is going on changes into something a little bit quirky but definitely compelling.Great job.
The first part of this book is told from the viewpoint of the criminal; the second, from the viewpoint of the policewoman who solved the case. The murderer is an unexpected woman who starts out the book by stalking her second victim, whom she intends to keep as the woman she loves. The woman (spoiler alert) turns out to be a policewoman trying to trap her. There are some unexpected turns in the story, but there is not enough character development to suit me and too many narratives about the bad dreams of the poilicewoman.
This is a very quick read. If I had to spend money on this short story I would have been disappointed, but since it was free it was okay. Like so many others have reviewed, the first half of the story was more exciting for me. I liked reading from the view point of the stalker. I felt closer to this character than the person being stalked. But almost too soon I figured out what was going on. The narrator changed and I wasn't as interested.
I read this book in its penultimate version, so it will be even better in the published version. It is a real page-turner, following a couple of characters, and delving into the rather dark and disturbing meanders of their respective psyches. It's short enough to read in one sitting. Which is just as well because you won't want to put it down.
Good book although the first half was better than the first. Really kept me guessing in the beginning and waiting to see what would happen next. In the second half I kept expecting something more dramatic to happen but it was still a good story. As seems to be the case with free kindle books, the editing could have been a LOT better.
It seems like both the writer and myself were desperate for the end to come. I kept thinking it would get better towards the end. I think the writer kept thinking they would come up with a better idea along the way. It didn't happen. I began reading this book with optimism but was left wishing I hadn't wasted my time.
This book was fairly interesting. It's about a woman called Hannah who is being stalked. The stalker has a history of doing this. The book follows the point of view of both Hannah and the stalker. The first part of the book was really good. Who the stalker is came to a big surprise to me. The ending was quite abrupt though. It was all gripping.
This was a whirlwind ride! Although I started to figure out what was going on in the first few chapters, it didn't make the story any less intriguing. Many ups and downs and twists and turns. Nice short read. For those of you who enjoy this type of book (read the insert.) Go For It!
I was about to stop reading after chapter 10. The storyline was uncomfortable for me, very strange. But I read a couple reviews and thought I'd go ahead and finish it. Should have gone with my first thought and put the book down at chapter 10. Weirdest book ever.
I waited and waited for the gripping, dramatic, intense and suspenseful thriller this book was described as but nothing ever happened. The first half was at least more interesting.
I simply could not put this book down. The author pulls you in until you can actually put yourself in Hannah's place. My heart was racing as the story reached the climax. If you enjoy heart pounding suspense, you must read this.
A bit weird and hard to keep reading, would have stopped after 100 pages but wanted to give it a chance and see how it ended. So, if you like unusual you might try it if free or .99 cents but most should find something more worthwhile to spend their time on.
This book wasn't as smooth a read as the last book I read from Diane Dickson. It had a lot of interesting twists, which I like...but it was difficult to follow as well. Hoped for a better ending, maybe I just didn't understand it.
