Perfect for fans of Witches of Dubious Origin by Jenn McKinlay and Happy Medium by Sarah
Giselle Armbruster is not a plant-whispering witch.
She’s a recently divorced fashion forecaster, devastated by her grandmother’s sudden death. If she wants to find out why her breath is suddenly reviving wilted flowers, she’ll have to spread Oma’s ashes on her ancestral farm in Germany.
Two teeny, tiny The location of Oma’s farm is hidden in letters written entirely in German. And Giselle doesn’t speak a lick of German. She’s going to need some help.
Thorsten Kohler is not the lightning-wielding Swordsman of prophecy.
He’s an anxious historian, more interested in restoring his family’s abandoned property than grim fairy tales. But when he unearths a ruby pendant, wakes a 300-year-old Wraith who gifts him lightning from his fingertips, and an attractive American woman lays claim to his property in the same week, he’s forced to concede.
Fairy tales might actually have some merit.
Giselle and Thorsten must navigate their ancestral magic and simmering, ill-fated attraction to stop the Wraith from punishing the witch who bound her to the ruby—a witch who looks remarkably like Giselle—or it’s both their ashes on the line.
Such a wonderful story. I felt immersed in Germany with all the vivid detail. The story was compelling and the love story had that "Dammit, kiss her!" chemistry that I love. I loved the spooky and witchy vibe of the old magic and history. I've told my book club about it, and I've been telling everyone else who's looking for a new read!
Overall this was a super cozy, witchy read. I loved the history and the fact it takes place partially in Germany. It was fun how the history was laid out and how it was intertwined with the story. My only issue was the last act of the book was a little clunky to get through, I think bc there was so much conflict wrapped up. Just wish there was a little bit more of a through line instead of running back and forth to locations to wrap things up. However the story was super cute, I loved the characters and I enjoyed the ending very much. Definitely a good pick for a fall read!
I am happy to be apart of the ARC team for this book, and my review is given freely.

This was an absolutely cozy read! Perfect for the fall- majorly witchy vibes! The German traditional style in this book is so fascinating and enjoyable.
My only complaint: I wish that the ending would tied up a bit neater- it was a lot of rushing around and I was unclear at times with setting and what was happening to who.
