Packed with humour, which will amuse adults and children alike, this read-aloud picture book captures the imagination of a whimsical little boy who describes some of his very human characteristics as if he were a dinosaur. He refers to himself as a Fastosaurus Rex, Whyceratops, Readabookadocus, Tellafibasaurus, Muddyraptor, and many others. He explains why he can be all these different dinosaurs, and that if dinosaurs were still around, they would understand him quite well! A comic tale for dinosaur lovers everywhere!
'Whether you're fluent, or just starting to learn to speak dinosaur, this book is amazing!' --Dustin Growick, The Dinosaur Whisperer
‘Oddsockosaurus is truly a charming little children's tale.’ – Readers’ Favorite
Zanib grew up in London, UK. She began writing stories and poetry when she was just a little girl, and was well known by her teachers, friends, and family to rhyme about anything that meant something to her. If you’re lucky, she will allow you to see some of her writing, which she has kept safe for over twenty five years! But you might have to visit her in her little Hobbit house in the Shire to see it!
A fun story for young children, especially those who love dinosaurs. The little boy explains all the different types of dinosaurs he is sometimes including a Loudatrops and a Cheekyodon. Each description is likely to be something children would relate to and find funny making the book very engaging. The pictures are fun, in bright colours and show lots of emotion. A nice read aloud story to enjoy as a class in FS or year 1.
I am so lucky to have won a copy of this book in a Goodreads Giveaway and wish to express my thanks to everyone concerned This is an absolutely fabulous children's book! The humour appeals to children of all ages as a six year old boy pretends to be different dinosaurs according to his mood or what he is doing. The names are brilliant - like the title of the book and the illustrations are highly appropriate and enhance the humour in the text.
This book is a fun read in its own right but it could also be great if used to encourage children to talk about their feelings. It is a great way to break down barriers and stimulate such discussions which could be used with individuals, groups or a class. Children would love to be able to invent their own dinosaur name and image to show how they are feeling, they could create their own versions in the style of this book, developing their ability to verbalise their emotions without feeling threatened by doing so.
This is a must-have book that I have no hesitation in highly recommending for young children, their parents and educators. It doesn't matter if the child is too young to read it independently, they'll adore having it read to them and learning to read it on their own. Superb!
Nothing to do with socks, it's a fun book about the many different aspects of being a preschooler from wearing mismatched clothes, to jumping in muddy puddles, to incessantly asking 'Why?'
Miss 4 and I like to explore different books and authors at the library, sometimes around particular topics or themes. We try to get different ones out every week or so; it's fun for both of us to have the variety and to look at a mix of new & favourite authors.
A totally fantastic book for dinosaur lovers. My almost 6 years old and 30 months old equally love this book. An awesome addition in our little home library.
So pleased to have won another of Zanib Mian's books in the recent Goodreads First Reads Giveaway. The previous book being 'It Must have Been You'.
I know my young grandson will love this book, as he is very much into Dinosaurs, whether it's book, toys or a dvd. Having read through this book, I can certainly recommend Oddsockosaurus. Easy to read with wonderful illustrations. My grandson loves to be read to and to read along with whoever. I know this book will now become his number one favourite.
I read this to my 3 and 5 year olds who loved this book. We were all very taken with the fantastic artwork that went along with the story. My children could both relate to most of the dinosaurs names and the descriptions of the dinos, Cheekyodom being one of my favs and certainly describes my own children to a tea. This is beautifully written with wonderful descriptions full of fun and plenty of laughs for the reader. A must have book for any child.
Received this via a Goodreads giveaway - my kids love it, and I rather like it as well. Great illustrations as well, already they have wanted it 2 nights running out of 2. Read it, then make up your own dinosaurs - Reviewosaurus anyone?
