Hopefully, it won't be a literal bite by the walking dead.Luck favors the prepared, and as luck would have it, it comes in the form of the ridiculously hot Blake Miller. Can their newfound attraction lead them down the road to love or heartbreak?Zombies, sex, romance and carnage...you can't get any better than this.Be warned, there will be monsters, living and dead, there will be very intense sex scenes and lots and lots of violence. 3.5 or 4 stars ( I can't decide )

I read ONE romance book and it put me in a book FUNK so when searching for zombie books written by female authors ( don't judge) I stumbled across this one. I've tried a few times to read this genre written by men but they tend to get caught up on explaining everything in minute detail when it comes to the guns, the vehicles, and the military men saving the world. (rolls eyes) BUT I do have a few ones that kept popping up which I'll give a try. (later)

Ok so onto this book, it's between a 3.5 rating and 4 stars.
When it comes to this genre and it must be a written rule amongst most authors where the lack of intimacy is non existent. (Like ZILCH) So jumping into this I had no expectations and I really wasn't expecting much to be honest.

This is why I was heading towards 4 stars, as soon as these two met they had instant chemistry, and went at it like rabbits even with the living dead right on their tails. And this is probably the first book that I've read where they act should I say NORMAL..Just because zombies want to kill you doesn't mean sex is off the table..

Then this is where the 3.5 stars comes into play, and I can't believe I'm saying this (cringing face) but it became monotonous, every chance they got they would have sex. It became over the top cringe worthy..So I guess for me I need that balance. I don't need it every chapter, just a sprinkle here and there would work just as well in this case.

So it made it a wee bit confusing, was I reading porno and the zombies were the secondary characters?

Anal play
Vibrator
A friend that likes to watch

But anyways I did finish it, and yep I'm even going to jump into the next book. Hopefully it's a switch around and it's more about the zombies and sex is just the topping on the cake.

Hum, a zombie book with personality and enough sex to get a convent prego by proximity... I'm not sure how I feel about this book....

I immediately like Lex's personality. She's sarcastic, smart, capable chick but she's just girly and unsure enough for readers not to envision Rhonda Rousey as they're reading.

She meets ex military man Blake. Spark fly. Survival together is easier than alone.

Ye might die in an hour. You're as safe as possible in the moment ...

description

So why not slut it up with the hot guy, right? No problems thus far.

I liked that the author made Lex's survival scenario somewhat believable, relatable, and understandable. She's not just a prepper, for example; no, she survived a flooded attic during NOLA Katrina. So, she is understandably prepared now!

But... The damn erotica, porn, vixen, minx, nymph is throwing me for a loop.

description

The book goes from practical survival to a naughty porno set that has the occasional zombies beat down in between. Like wth?

The sex on the boat is fine, but stopping in the middle of loading supplies? Really? And, if the timing isn't bad enough alone, these mf'ers pull out a fucking vibrator. That's just too much overkill for a zombie book. But, damn if I don't keep reading. F me up the arse. Oh, wait... The characters already did that :0

Enter Blake's badass military buddies, one of whom, Zack, has a thing for watching Blake with women. Again, I'm not sure if I'm in a porno or a zombie book here. But, yep, I keep reading.

Bam, cliffhanger ending that MAKES you must have book 2 to see wtf this is going to go. I hate this author!!! I really, really want to slap myself, but damn if I didn't just say f it and go with the porno storyline of this book and get sucked in to book two. F me!

I guess I can appreciate that the author took a zombie book and basically said :

I need the next book, like now...
This was a short entertaining read and I can't wait to see what happens next. I'm not sure what to expect of this plot twist but I'm sure of one thing: I'm hooked to this story and its characters. I always like a good romance in an apocalyptic world.

This book was sooo amazing! It was like watching an episode of my favorite TV show "The Walking Dead" only with a lot of hot sex, a lot more sex! God if ever I was going to be found in a zombie apocalypse I'd want to have a hot ex-army mercenary men at my back too! Especially if there was one as sexy as Blake Miller.

Blake was one delicious alpha male. He was dominate, rough, tender, and oh so mysterious. The chemistry between him and Alexis was wow.. off the chart intense. These two hit it off wonderfuly. If the world is coming to an end, these two got the right idea for how to pass the time! And I'm not talking monopoly ladies! If these two went humping like horny little rabbits, they were kicking zombie ass and trying to stay alive

Things got very interesting when Blake and Alexis met up with Blake's business partner, Zachary. Wow, that was a good moment. I'm chomping at the bit to get the next book. I truly don't know if I can wait till Tuesday!

I'm usually a scary cat when it comes to all things horror, gore and guts, but for this amazing book and series I think I can make an exception. And defiantly one for Blake. Although I'm very upset with you mister. * points finger* you know what you did. I highly recommend this book to anyone who on the run from zombies and looking for a life line in the form of a hot and sexy alpha war hero.

Run is an Erotic Romance by Gillian Zane with a zombie apocalypse in NOLA for it's back drop. Don't go in thinking you're getting a horror story. Although there are a couple of scenes that might be hard on a few to read, especially if you're not a fan of baby zombies. Run has just enough action and blood to keep your pulse pumping when it's slowed down from the steamy scenes between Alexis and Blake (if the boats a rocking, don't come a knocking). There was one sex scene I thought "don't these characters know the rules we learn from Scream?!" Don't have sex.

Rules to successfully survive a horror movie: (via Scream)

You may not survive the movie if you have sex.
You may not survive the movie if . . .
You may not survive the movie if you . . .

Sure let's get it on when we are somewhat safe on a boat away from the zombies but when you're in a house trying to get supplies. . . let's keep our pants on until we are back on the boat. LOL

Over all I enjoyed Run and will read the next book, Fight.

Execution: ABSOLUTE GARBAGE!

Also the narrator... I'm sure your middle name is Monotone. Last name Flat?

I am obsessed and I don’t even know why!

The Good

Wow, a lot happens in this novella. I didn’t feel gipped like I usually do with novellas, though I was left dying to read the next book. I was on Goodreads so fast to see when book #2 comes out, which is in July. Yay!

So, we get zombie-goodness, humping-goodness, and gore-goodness. Some of my fav things in a book.

Way too many graphic sex scenes that didn't add anything to the story, but made it less believable instead.
The apocalypse has only just begun and now is the time to try out anal sex with a complete stranger? Really?

Recommended for women with 'end of the world' sex fantasies who don't give a hoot if everything adds up or not.

REVIEW:
I’m a fan of The Walking Dead and couldn’t wait to dig into Run, where its just the start of a “zombie” like virus spreading. Gillian Zane created a short but smoking hot and intensely scary story that is only just the beginning.

Run follows Alexis Winters who trying to escape her office and get back home. Why you ask? Well a virus has broken out and has infected people like a zombie outbreak. Alexis is a survivor and has been prepared for something like this since Katrina hit her home state. Luckily Alexis meets Blake Miller, a man who is military trained and is in the same survival mode as she is. Together they move forward to safety, their goal is to survive and keep going. They cant fight the attraction, even with the world coming to an eerie end, but anything could tar them apart.

Alexis is tough as nails, she is ready to take the zombies head on with her ax swinging. I liked how head strong she was, how she knew that she had to fight and look out for herself. With Blake she lost a little bit of her focus, but together they helped each other stay alive. I adored her German shepherd, which she trained as a guard dog. My bond with my own German shepherd is just like that and he’s trained similarly. In the end Alexis in left in an interesting position, the man she’s grown to care for send her for a brutal loop. If I were her I would say good ridden, but I have a feeling this tough chick is going to end up helping him.

Blake is a mans man, someone you hope to run into during a zombie outbreak. He’s trained for action and has the friends and back up to help. I enjoyed his character at the beginning, he really was Alexis’ equal and they contrasted each other’s persona and survival strength really well. He was a bit of a kinky guy, who seriously would make any girl need to fan herself a little… or a lot. In the end he kind of did a 180 and I really think he turned into a jerk. I’m totally rooting for Alexis to say good luck and see yah or choose Zach! (He’s a bit of a fun and sexy mystery).

In the end a lot happens that I don’t want to give away since this is a short story. But I loved the idea of where Alexis and Blake end up and that there is a hope of getting through this insane apocalypse. I cant wait to see what happens next and look forward to more from Zane.

First, I didn't really get that far in this book. The female meets up with the guy and find a boat to escape, then promptly have sex, described in graphic detail, which really doesn't bother me at all. I just got the impression this was going to be the book. I want action, adventure and romance with my sex and zombies. I may return to it later but there are a lot of books to read that give me more what I'm looking for.

Don't read this for the zombies, you'll be disappointed.

I liked this book but I found myself skimming over pages, just to get past the marathon sex. I'm still going to try the next book. I've gotta see where this is going...

A summary of my thoughts:
Alexis is great! Blake is soooo annoying. Seriously intrigued by Zach. Needed more zombies. Loved the New Orleans setting.

“Zombies were probably munching on my friends and family as we speak and I was contemplating orgasms in the apocalypse. But it couldn’t be helped.”

So this was a bit different from most of the zombie books I read, whereas I have read books with zombies + survivors having sex, it wasn't as explicit as it was in this one. I had fun reading it though despite some issues I had.

So this short zombie story is about Alexis, a semi-prepper girl who gets stuck in the midst of a zombie apocalypse kilometres from her home. She has to get home quick. I am still not sure on the whole prepper thing, it is something I only see in US books or movies/series, I haven't seen it happen in any of my Dutch books, nor have I ever heard of anyone who preps for these things. Still it was quite fun that for this once it was a girl who prepped. When we get to her house and see the things she stocked, holy hell.... this girl is quite prepared, or actually over-prepared. :P I did love how kick-ass she was with zombies. Yes, she wasn't always 100% OK with it, you saw that it hurt her, you see it wasn't easy, but still she did it. And with an axe even. I love a girl who can handle an axe.

On her way home she meet ex-marine/military Blake. They quickly form a bond (and more). I did quite like Blake, he was hot and sexy and he knew how to do things which is a must in situations like this. He kept his mind cool. But he was also a perfect gentleman. He did help Alexis when she needed it, but wasn't overly acting like a knight, which is what I see in other apocalypse books at times. There is a hot guy and instead of letting the girl do things on her own he has to protect her every move. So I was happy with that.

The sex, TONS OF IT, were very well written though at times a bit too explicit for me. The normal sex parts OK, but then there was a dildo in the butt and a penis in her vagina and I just tuned out.
Same with some other parts, it just went too far for me. Still, I do like the mix of dark zombies with some light-hearted sex/romance. It gives a bit of breather in between all the gore and death.

Later on we meet Blake's friends, who are also military/mercenary and together they group with them to head to a safe spot. I wasn't sure how I felt about these new people, I would rather have had Blake and Alexis just wander around a little bit more. Discover some more things.

The ending and the twist there. Holy, I just wanted to kick Blake in his precious nuts. Hard. That is just not what you do. That is a very effing NOPE. I won't spoil it, but I think most people will be pissed at this guy after this.

The zombies are properly scary, and it was also kind of funny to see how people just tried to help people who were bitten. Guys, first rule in chaos like this, care only about yourself. It sounds heartless, but in each movie and book you can see what happens. Just for your sake, run away. Those people are dead.

Also I just adore the cover. Sexy, but also dark and given a hint to the story behind the cover.

Now for the 4 issues I had with this book:

Issue 1: The instant lust. I am not into instant anything in my books, and it was just a bit too much how these two just wanted to rip each other's clothes off as soon as they met. Hello, zombies! I get that you want some relaxation in between all the things, but this was just a tad ridiculous, these two just went for it like animals.

Issue 2: That the girl, within just a short time, wavered between loving the guy and then thinking it wasn't a good idea to love him. Eventually even saying THAT even though it has just been a really really short time.

Issue 3: The fact she did all sorts of things sex-wise that she wouldn't have done with any other man. But hey, magically.. she wants to do all things with this hot sexy marine dude. Anal? Eh, never tried, but hey, let's do it. Oh, normally I would hit someone if they acted like this, but with him, it is all OK. Oh someone is watching. Oh, well that turns me on. Whut? Girl? Hello? Did your brains die in the zombie apocalypse?

Issue 4: Just having sex without a condom. You don't know where his dick has been. Do you want a STD in the midst of a zombie apocalypse? Or get pregnant. I know she is on the pill, but the pill is not 100% reliable. You can still get pregnant.

But all in all, yes, I did like this one, and yes, I am going to be reading the other books... if I can find them of course. I want to know how the story continues. If you like tons of sex and zombie action then be sure to check this book out.

First in series and first read by this author

Ok so think your typical zombie aplocalipse movie and at a whole lot of sex.... like a lot! Wham bam kinda style...it was a bit much at times and actually did distract from what is quite an original story and concept for a book.

Now I am NOT a prude... but the sex was at time just a bit unnecessary and I was left wanting for more story.... at time a little unbelievable ( meets guy she doesn’t know and withing a few hours is boinking him.... zombies all around us got to be quiet...ok orazimathon coming up ) as much as it does have some good action ( the zombie fighting variety ) it could have done with more..because... damm it’s a zombie apocalypse folks!!
The author did try to give the main charachters an emotional connection between ALL the bouts of boinking but it was a bit lacklustre and fell flat for me.

I have got the second book in this series to read, as both are currently Freebies, I’m undecided about if I will actually read it.... the ending of the book was just rushed and for Blake just to leave to rescue his ex wife was a tad frustrating.

Umm ... not necessarily great. I expected a zombie book with some steamy scenes, but I found that there were too many very steamy scenes and not that many zombies. There is nothing wrong with that, of course, although it gave me a few surprises. The best parts of the book are obviously the sex scenes, they were very interesting and quite descriptive. But there isn't much beyond that. It's short, slightly catchy and easy to read. It doesn't have that much substance, the characters are quite annoying and the writing is standard without anything special. It's an acceptable book.

I really liked the start of this story. I liked Alex and Blake together. It fell apart for me when they met up with his team. I'm not a fan of reverse harems and that's where this series is going. Just a personal preference. Also Blake was a complete jack ass at the end of the story. I don't think I will continue with their story. Maybe pick up another book in this series. But up until that point, I enjoyed the story.

*I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review and all opinions within this review are my own. *

The zombie action starts immediately with Alexis running for her life from Rick, a coworker at her office building who has been infected. While trying to find a way back to her house, through the hoards of idiots and the infected, she runs into Blake. Blake is very to the point and so they both set off for Alexis' house to get her supplies and her dog. Over the next few days they are taken on a wild ride of lust and running for their lives.

I'll be honest and say that I normally don't read these types of books, but when I saw Gillian's post about looking for bloggers to review her latest book I had a good feeling about it and felt that this was a book that I needed to read. I was not disappointed either.

Alexis is a strong and independent woman, who, ever since she was old enough to be on her own, had has the desire to be prepared and has "prepped" for multiple kinds of disasters. She prides herself on her ability to survive for weeks with the amount of supplies she has managed to come up with and the forethought to have a well trained guard dog. Little did she know that she would ever need her preps for a zombie apocalypse.

Blake is an ex-military man who is helping Alexis survive in this new nightmare type world that has now become their reality. He knows how to handle himself and take control in dire situations and also in the bedroom. Blake is Alexis' perfect survival partner.

Gillian is very descriptive and paints a clear picture of the type of person that Alexis is. I honestly don't know how I would have fared in this type of situation. I'd like to think that I could handle myself as well as Alexis did, but I honestly don't know.

One thing that I really liked about Gillian Zane's writing style with "Run" was the fact that the story never felt rushed or to slow. She set a great pace and everything seemed to fall right into place. Another was the fact that she seemed to have studied up on a lot of the lingo and behaviors of preppers.

Gillian Zane has spun a brilliant story with gore and guts, wild unadulterated lust and passion, hope, adventure and of course zombies. "Run" will knock your socks off and have you dying to know what happens in Zane's next installment in the NOLA Zombie series. I highly suggest giving this book a try but I should warn you that it is not intended for younger audiences under the age of 18.

The Delight

I am on a zombie, post-apocalypic romance binge right now. Why? Well I am bored with the standard romance. While I liked this story, it is a serial and you know how I feel about serials! Throw in first person point of view and I was a little cranky. But I love the heroine. The hero...well, he needs some work.

Run jumps right into the zombie apocalypse just as it starts. Several cities have been hit by a "virus", but no real news is given and now it has hit New Orleans. Alexis Winter, our tough heroine, is ready for a disaster like another hurricane, but not quite what is happening now. She's tough at twenty-one having gone through Katrina with hippy parents. It left a lasting impression. Not exactly a dooms day activist, but she does have supplies at the ready...if only she was at her house when it hit.

Alexis is at work on a Saturday when it goes down. She must find a way back home to her supplies at the very least when she meets Blake a security company owner. The two team up to get to her residence and stock up on supplies then move onto an island Blake and his partner own for their company.

These two fall instantly into bed with each other. I am not quite so certain of Blake's age, but Alexis is probably going to grow up real fast with this fall out. Blake is also very sexually active with a lot of kinks to his credit. While I think he falls in love with Alexis, he does something utterly unforgivable to Alexis at one point, especially since he won't explain why.

We meet Zach who is Blake's partner. He kind of likes to watch ... you know the good parts. He's also kind of an asshole at first. He doesn't know they are zombies and for a while just tries to avoid them until they figure out these people aren't living any more.

The ultimate goal is to get to the island they own and start setting up security and locating their teams. The story is fast paced, filled with lots of horny sex, and a zombie around every corner trying to eat you. I can't wait to start the second book in the series to find out what happens next!

Alexis knew it was only a matter of time before the zombie outbreak, and after her experience with hurricane Katrina, she won't be caught unprepared again. She's become a prepper, stockpiling at her house, keeps a bag in the car, and even trained her dog German. She's spent lots of time on the forums, learning and prepping for the future upcoming zombie apocalypse. Of course, when it happens she's at work at least it's the weekend and not a full office.

Armed with an ax she makes it out of the building to her car but getting home proves to be a challenge with all the people fleeing and zombies running around. When she decides to take a chance at getting home quicker she finds an unlikely travel companion a sexy ex-military guy. Teamed up with Blake the pair heads up the river on a boat headed for their homes. They find that they may just have found the perfect zombie apocalypse partner and it's just a bonus that they are attracted to each other. Will they make it out of New Orleans alive? What awaits them when they make it home?

I like Alexis she's clearly a smart girl who has taken planning to a whole new level. While she may be willing to swing her ax at the zombie threat teaming up with Blake proves to provide what she need. The pair has an instant connection, they can't deny the attraction and fall head over heels for each other. The chemistry between the two is very steamy lots of sexy moments on this whirlwind adventure.

I've had this one on my TBR for a while but haven't been in a mood for zombies in a while. Killer zombies are one of my favorite concepts toss in some steamy romance and I'm interested. I started Run and finished it in a single sitting, finding the story hard to put down. The characters are easy to connect with you can't help loving Alexis on her epic adventure. I wasn't sure about Blake he seemed to perfect but he grew on me as the book progressed. I've enjoyed every book by the author as she's a brilliant storyteller weaving an intricate story. I truly enjoyed Run even though it ends in a cliffhanger and look forward to reading the rest of the series. I will admit the story does have a lot of steamy sexy moments but what else are you going to do with no social media. Highly recommend.

2019 = 3 stars
2021 = 3 stars / review written

If you like your zombie novella to have lots of sex, and a bit of humor to go along with the gore, then you may enjoy this. The story is fast paced and attention-grabbing.

Even though the sex scenes are steamy and well written, I skimmed a few of them. I thought it highly unlikely that the MCs would have so much sex during a life-or-death situation. Plus, I really wanted to get back to the survival plot. Later on, the voyeurism scenes are really hot. 🔥

☹️ I didn't like how the dog was treated. It felt more like a story prop than a real pet. The dog was left alone in the house for over 24 hours, then stuck on the boat for a while, and finally just disappeared. Not sure why the author included a dog at all. 🤷‍♀️

Overall, it was an enjoyable, quick, and easy read. It ends on a cliffhanger, so I plan to reread book 2. I DNF'd the third book last time, but I’ll try to finish it and hopefully complete the series.

Edited To Add: I gave up on book 3, after reading dreamlisy's review:

"This book has to do with slavery, abuse, almost rape, talk about rape, and the horrendous people (men) who treat women like cattle—or worse—and nothing more. Lucky for us, Alexis (the h) does get her revenge, eventually. This book has Alexis separated for half of the book from Blake and Zach, so if you are not into hard core survival, and reading about horrendous situations that women can be put into, maybe do not read."

😰 Due to escalating violence and gore, I'm glad I stopped at book 2.

Gillian Zane I'm giving you a standing ovation right now for this debut novella! It was FABULOUS!!

RUN is the first in the NOLA Zombie series and this darn novella was so good that I devoured it in record time, I could not put it down. This story is chalked full of action, suspense, drama, some majorly HOT Alpha Males and quite honestly the story line was so different from what I was expecting I loved every single word. Alexis and Blake are the two main characters in our series and things heat up and get pretty hot and heavy with them quickly. Alexis is one pretty awesome chick I mean she is a machine the chick doesn't balk at anything she is fighting zombies left and right not to mention she has a bugout bag in her trunk! Blake who is ex-millitary and runs his own security company and is a major hottie in this book immediately hits it off with Alexis and I have to say they hit the ground running! This is a very fast paced book and Gillian Zane did such an amazing job creating a smoking hot connection between Blake and Alexis I mean these two are a naughty little pair and it was sinfully delicious.

This is one of those rare novellas that is so good and there was so much going on in it I didn't feel like it was a novella at all. I cannot wait until the next installment to see where this goes since we were left on a major cliff hanger! But if it is any indication from this debut this series is going to be epic.

You do not want to miss this download it and add it to your TBR list today it was amazing!

I recevied an copy from the author for an honest review.

AHHHH>>>>I am dying!! I need more!! I love and hate cliffy books and this one leaves you with a big cliffy. If you hate the cliffy books then you are not gonna like the ending...LOL

If you like zombie books or zombie movies then this book will make your heart sing!! Its about newbie prepper Alexis who runs into Hottie Ex-Military man Blake. They two make a great team killing zombies AND warming up the sheets. They need to get to a secure place to figure out what is going on in the world since the government has essentially cut all forms of communication.

The banter between the two is sooo freaking funny but the sexy times are uber steamy as well. I will say the book started very light and funy considering they are fighting zombies but ended very intense and with a sad heart. I cant wait for the next installment of this book series. I wanna know what happens with Blake and his new mission? What will happen to all the survivors they have saved but mainly what will happen with Blake and Lex.

This was a very fast paced book and it is also probably a good representation of what would happen in a zombie apocalypse. Blake and Lexi have instant chemistry and they work well together. Lexi is not like any main female character that I’ve seen yet. She is definitely one a kind. She was stranded during Katrina with her parents and in turn has started stockpiling supplies in case something similar happens so she is not a damsel in distress when all of the zombie mess breaks out. Blake is a “security specialist” and former military and is a prepper also. Together they get together with some of Blake’s employees and travel to an island that the company owns to wait out the zombies or until help arrives.
The cliffhanger in this book is enough to fall over and break your neck falling down it. Ugh. I hate cliffhangers. Especially since it seems like it stops right in the middle of the flippin book. Again, UGH!!! The saving grace is all of the hot as Hades, end of the world, might not see tomorrow kind of sex. :)
I like the characters, dynamics and the storyline so far. Can’t wait to read the next installment.

This book felt almost like a New Adult Zombie Romance and when reading it I thought, "Hunh, zombies and sex scenes, what an odd combination." But it really worked. Maybe because it's all primal; primal urges and the need to survive. I also felt it was a great backdrop for a romance, because ... maybe it takes away a saccharine edge to the proceedings? Who knows, it works.

I liked Lex, she makes me want to fill my closet with doomsday survival supplies. I also liked the way her relationship progressed, it was surprising.

Even if you just kind of like the book, get to book two: the story gets even better.

Why do I need a headline?

Guilty pleasure. That's what this was. Like junk food that tastes so good and quells a craving but doesn't actually satisfy. And I can't wait for the next book.
