The Truth Behind The Lies

Two things for certain, and one thing’s for sure: Lolah Lace is the truth! I didn’t think she could write a male character more brash, more suave, more brazen, more utterly maddeningly sexier than Mason Rizza, but Sebastian Vandervol? In the words of our heroine Nina Norwood: This man here…
I don’t even know where to begin with this review because Lolah always gives it to you straight no chaser. Sebastian, or Bash, is alla that-tall, blonde, and handsome…AF! When someone appears to be too good to be true, trust your instincts, but oh what a ride these two take each other on until the truth behind the lies is revealed.
The first half of this story reads like one, long foreplay. Bash and Nina meet and the attraction is instant, and he wastes no time staking his claim. Nina, like so many of us, grapple with- Do I go with the flow or reign in my inner ho? Why do us women gotta be hoes when we’re feeling sexual? There’s this constant erotic back and forth, frenzied oral interludes, but no “going all the way”. WHAAAAAAT are you doing to meeee?! But when it happens, oh boy…EX-PLO-SIVE! Bash and Nina have off the charts chemistry. I felt like a voyeur reading this story lol, and their exchanges were downright sexy and comical.
The second half of this story is a delicious riddle wrapped in an enigma wrapped in a mystery. You kinda think you have it all figured out until the very end and then BLAM-O! WHAAA??! (And that’s a good thing.) There will be a part 2, and I can.not.wait.
So to summarize, here all the things that I love about this story:
• The dialogue: Fresh, current, unpretentious, and HI-LARIOUS!
• Two, mature adults (35+) in a consensual relationship
• Candid, open conversations about race and stereotypes which is rare in IR romance stories (Some may find them questionable, even objectionable, but I simply put it into the context of the speaker and the intent behind it)
• Candid, grown-up conversations about sex and past relationships
• Independent, successful heroine who is about her business
• Hot, hot, HAWT romance
• Villain(s) you love to hate
• Secrets and lies that turn the entire relationship on its ear

This is Nina and Sebastian's story. I loved the couple. I like the chemistry they have going on. I like the interaction between the couple. I liked that the story is centred on them. There are minor characters but the majority of the story is about the couple.
I do not think that Bash is crazy, I believe he really loves Nina but I just don't know how he is going to get out of this huge lie he has told her. I am sure he has a good reason but its going to be very hard selling it to Nina.
I disliked David with a passion he was a total thug/douche. He got his deserts. However, I do not believe that Bash set him up. He really was a criminal.
The story has twists and turns and some get laugh out laud moments! An entertaining read!
I am looking forward to book 2.

The high won't subside. Poisonous kisses take over and give me a chance to fly and a chance to cry. Love slowly spreads over me. Over us. Of this I'm sure. Still it's not enough to stop the choir from singing a continued chorus of doubt inside my head.
Nina- She's just about wrapped her head around it. She's about to give up. But out of nowhere. Just in the nick of time Sebastian (Bash) drops himself into her lap. On guard at first. It isn't long before she's dropping down walls, but only to let in tiny unclear voices of doubt.
Sebastian- He's tall, beautiful and mysterious. He's the kind of man women dream of. His looks have you swooning. Successful in most parts of his life. His heart has a large lingering spot that continues to cause a strain within his life.
I'm beyond amazed by her talent Lolah's writing. Can't wait for part two!

A great read. Love love loved it. This is a story about love , trust and secrets. Nina and Sebastian met fell in love quickly and started a relationship. While Sebastian was quite a charmer Nina was fierce yet a little timid. Sebastian's past threatens their future A past he refused to share with Nina. When Nina was faced with secrets from his past it caused a few frictions but she's accepting. His biggest secret might be the deal breaker. This is a full length book that is steadily paced with a story that will have you anxious to get to the next page.It's honest it's fresh and extremely erotic. Lolah Lace, my kinda author. Excellent storytelling and something I've learned to expect from her, a cliffhanger but that doesn't bother me anymore. There are hot steamy scenes and a bit of mystery and suspense. If you're a fan of all these things? I strongly recommend this book.

This book is everything and nothing like I thought it would be. Does that even make sense? Loved the dialogue. I really enjoy Nina. She's so real to me. I hate that I have to wait for the answers to my questions!!! Lol

You did that, I was so glued to this book. Omg Bash smh. I wouldn’t mind having me an Bash. But I didn’t know he wasn’t really talking about an horse. My jaw dropped. If you haven’t read this book please do. You will not be disappointed.

I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!! <3
With that said, I still feel like it’s an understatement. Ms. Lace knocked it out of the park with this book, and after reading it I was chomping at the bit to read book 2.
Nina meets the incredibly handsome and sexy Sebastian in an elevator. They start talking and he invites her out to coffee, and she agrees. They share some flirtatious and sexy banter that kickstarts the beginning to a new and exciting relationship. But this man she’s falling for has secrets — and they’re serious. Once you get to the last page, you realize just how serious they are!
First, I would like to praise Lolah Lace’s talent as an author and storyteller. She is fabulous! Her style is really unique. It’s informal and conversational which is something I’m not used to, but I really like. I can’t tell you how many times I started smiling or laughing while I was reading some of the passages.
I love Nina. She’s hilarious, smart, and tough. I LOVED the internal battle between her good girl self trying to reign in her inner slut from taking the wheel! LOL. The bad girl part of me wanted her to lose control just as much as she did! :D
And Bash…. Oh my. This man is sexy, confident, and a bit cocky — but not in an offensive over-the-top way. He had some alpha tendencies, which I found muy caliente, but at the same time he was a bit unsure of himself and very vulnerable. I think he saw his relationship with Nina as his last chance at happiness. He didn’t want to lose her, so he was afraid to share all of himself in fear of her walking away. He fell for her hard and fast, and Nina the same.
Speaking of hard and fast… there were plenty of deliciously erotic sex scenes in this book. Bash was definitely the boss in the bedroom! **swoon**
If you like your romance with humor, sass, mystery, and brazen sensuality, I HIGHLY recommend “The Truth Behind the Lies”!!

In this book Nina and Sebastian "Bash" meet and he in no certain terms lets her know that he is interested. Although this book is given from each of their perspectives. It is mostly about what is happening with Nina.
Nina has concluded her business at the police department and on her way to leave when she encounters Sebastian in the elevator. Sebastian states his thought out loud that Nina smells delicious. She is taken back, however decides to join him for coffee when he asks. As he walks her to her car things only become heated from there and they hit third base before Nina is where that she is at that point with a man she just met only hours before.
Both Nina and Bash have secrets with regards to their exs that do not wish to disclose with one another; however, it seems that Bash has more secrets than Area 51. As Nina and Bash grow closer Nina's insecurities began to mount and she becomes unsure as to why Bash really wants her.
Bash is an Alpha man, he lets Nina know in no certain terms she is his and she cannot leave him, not that he would allow her too. Bash was so smooth when he fixed Nina's problem with her ex, I was like DAYUM, he is handling the business.
The ending of this book is a doozy. Let me tell you I did not see it coming and was blindsided, although something did not quite fit right.

A steaming two point of view BWWM story !!! You know I love a confident female and alpha male ! And when this power couple turns out to look like Alexander Skarsgard and Gabriel Union, the story is on its way to set my imagination on fire ! The story line is well written, the characters well thought and the heroine is pretty funny. Especially those little comments she makes as if you were in her head. I just found that the relationship between those two could have been less rushed so that the story would have more depth. But don't get me wrong, I can't wait to read the second one !

Omg....first..I know there are spelling errors...and I don't care...this is sooooo hot.....I want Bash....give every woman Bash....Sebastian Vandevol is mega watt hot...Nina did not stand a chance...from the finger bang in the car to the blues concert...Bash had her...you will cream your panties for 85 percent of this book....oh my drawers....part 2 is promised to be out by 08/15.....Damn...Bash is hot...

Looks can be deceiving!
I read the beginning of this book then stopped,I finally came back to it and re-read it again to make up for lost time and I was hooked! Chemistry between the two leads started off hot,heavy and freaky! I wanted more alphaness from Sebastian to me it felt a little flat towards the end. This is my first read by the author, I really loved the dialect she kept up because it was funny and real especially from Nina's pov! Overall good book!!

A great read
I am fast becoming a fan of this author and this book has certainly helped in that regard. I was engaged from the beginning with that elevator scene and it continued throughout the book.

Too good to be true
Nina and Bash's story is too good to be true. From day one, everything moved at a quick pace. I had a feeling that the ending will bring Bash's past to the forefront. Boy, did it ever! Can't wait to read the finale.
