This review is for Anna Lowe´s Desert Hunt - Rae finally got her transfer to a new pack, but can this one be the place where she can settle down? Zack returns after a tracking mission to find the most lovely scent all over the place. When the scent turns out to be his Alpha´s intended mate, he doesn´t know what to do. Can he really resist his inner Wolf and Coyote? Quick read, shifters, action and smutty fluff in a great combo. Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book in return for an honest review.
Masters Of The Hunt: Fated and Forbidden is an excellent anthology. This box set has a huge variety of fantasy, urban fantasy, paranormal, and romance stories. I love anthologies because it is the best of both worlds. You get books from authors you know and trust. For me that is the following: Hailey Edwards, Ann Gimpel, Crista McHugh, Amber Ella Monroe, and Annie Nicholas. Plus, you get to try new authors that you have been meaning to read or are new to you, for me that includes: Elianne Adams, Nicole Ciacchella, Sarra Cannon, Ramona Gray, Charlene Hartnady, Ellis Leigh, Anna Lowe, Anne Marsh, Diana St. Gabriel, Holley Trent, and Tina Moss. Sixteen great stories, you cannot go wrong.
I love that these are full-length stories. There was only one book in the anthology I already read: Hailey Edwards’ Heir of the Dog. I love that book/series. The rest were all new and exciting. They were all great reads that were very different.
Complimentary copy provided by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I have only managed to read a few of the books so far but will definitely be making my way through the rest.
I love Sarra Cannons Sacrifice me, the descriptions of her stories and the characters have you hooked from the start. Even better is how she incorporates the Peachville high characters which gives you a familiar feel, although this does not affect a brilliant read if you have not read the other books.
Anna Lowe's Desert Hunt gripped me from the start. Cant beat a good werewolf book, even better, there are more instalments which i will get round to once i have finished this set. I had not read any off Anna's books previous to this but i am impressed and will be reading more...
ASTOUNDING stories by 16 amazing authors. These stories take you on some spine-tingling adventures that will take your breath away. On your adventure you'll come face to face with werewolves, intimidating vampires and some not so intimidating ones (remember the old saying There is Honor Among Thieves) there's honor among Vamps too, there are some very HOT dragons, witches, fairies, ghosts, some crazies and more. The characters both female and male are powerful, charismatic, as well as humorous, and the places you'll visit are filled with MAGIC! If you're looking for deep intimacy-you found it. Lets put it this way bubble baths, steamy hot tubs and any other place you can think of; takes on a whole new meaning. The stories in this set are absolutely UNFORGETABLE -When I see the moon glaring down at me I visualize-a werewolf howling for its mate, two very HOT dragons have taken up residence in my electric fire place which is on 365 days a year, and when I hear the blasting sound of a motorcycle I picture the fairy Prince and his Princess holding on tight behind him. {I received an ARC for an honest review} I highly recommend this set and all I say is GIVE ME...MORE!!!
SACRIFICE ME, SEASON 1 : by Sarra Cannon Fast paced, powerful, impressive and demanding the attention of the reader. The Heroine Franki-an audacious, beautiful, powerful witch; needs protection from a vampire who THIRSTS FOR SUPREME POWER. The Hero-Rend a charismatic gorgeous vampire and the owner of Club Venom is THE PROTECTOR. The story includes, danger, life threatening incidents, banter, intoxicating romance, magic and a phenomenal cast of witches, demons and vampires. By pushing aside the boundaries of imagination Sarra has created an unforgettable story.
HEIR of the DOG by Haily Edwards Thierry Thackeray is Marshal she hunts demons, she's half human/half fae, sassy, smart, sexy and packs a powerful punch. Multifaceted story: Thierry's mom has been kidnapped, her x-boyfriend Shaw a gorgeous incubus is back in town and has a doozy of a surprise for her besides the fact he still loves her, the High Faerie Court has summoned her because their King was murdered, her dad has taken a hiatus; Princes participate in a dog hunt for the right to be the next King-and since daddy dearest isn't around, his HEIR Thierry is ordered by the High Court to participate in the hunt; only problem is her chance of survival is about none to nil, last one standing rules the land; but a charismatic Prince named Rook, the only Prince not participating in the hunt offers her protection and desires her too!! Fabulous characters, utterly fantastic story and whole lot of surprises.
DESERT HUNT by Anna Lowe: Rae: she-wolf, gorgeous, sexy, sassy, powerful; Rae has a special power that makes her vulnerable to be kidnapped by any pack for that power. There is a lunatic werewolf who wants to mate her, Tyrone, Alpha of the Twin Moon Pack wants his oldest son Ty to mate her, and Zack is her destined mate. Rae does not trust men and does not want to mate anyone. Zack: Tracker for the pack, is hot, charismatic, protective, alpha personality, half-breed/half-coyote-half-wolf. Zack is probably the most altruistic shifter you'll ever meet, always thinking of others but never himself, believes he is unworthy of mate because of his status. Rae comes to work for the Ranch and Ty orders Zack to make sure none of the male wolves bother her. The banter between Zack's wolf's half and his coyote's half is hysterical-Zack is an amazing character. The romance is WOW, life threatening incidents, twists and turns, and the ending BRILLIANT. I love this series, these wolves: just make me melt!!!
BAIT: The Angler Book One by Annie Nicholas: Connie Bence is BAIT-She is highly trained to mind block. While in Budapest Connie is sent to a club to entice Rurik, Vampire Overlord to her hotel so the slayers can catch him for execution; for the heinous murders he committed. Rurik drugs her and brings to a vampire party for his Master Dragos as gift; he wanted her when he saw her at a club. Dragos wants her blood. She has a tracking device hidden in her dress-so the slayers can locate her. The slayers attack the Vampires at the party-and Rurik tells her to run-a Vampire is chasing her in the alley-suddenly the Vamp disappears. Rurik has sworn to protect her (his pet name for her is RABBIT). He saved her life. Connie begins to feel that Rurik is innocent of the crimes and sets out on a mission to clear his name while deceiving her boss Colby and Team of slayers. This is an unbelievable story-fascinating, the characters are powerful, gorgeous, sexy and engaging. Romance is steaming, spine-tingling. Loved it.
PRINCE IN LEATHER-HEARTH MOTEL 1 by Holly Trent: Simone Bristol has not been able to leave the beach motel because the Goddess Hestia put a six year curse on the motel binding her to a 5 mile limit in and out for chores or dining out-the curse was really meant for her aunt who left Simone with the burden. The leader Heath Horan a Sidhe prince is drained of his energy so the group has to take up residence in the motel. Heath recognizes Simone as his fated mate/wife which makes her a fairy princess. She wanted no part of it. The other part of the curse was she had to be hospitable. The characters are unique, sexy, humorous, protective, life threatening incidents, and spell binding story-fascinating.
CALL OF THE DRAGON by Elianne Adams: Rhia Atkinson is being chased by savage beasts who want to kill her. Rhia is the missing daughter of the Queen Angeliqu of Avalore. Her real name is Rhiannon and since her mother was murdered, she is now the Queen. The magic light within her can save the people of Avalore-While Rhia was fighting the beast a Dragon warrior Drake from Avalore was tracking the beast too; he finds her and tries to mind speak to her but she does not hear him. He recognizes her by her brilliant lavender eyes and the resemblance to her mother was amazing-her beauty astounded him and he would protect her with his life. Now he has to convince his Queen she needs to return to Avalor. The adventure begins! The cast of characters in this story are beyond amazing, there is scorching romance, life threatenting incidents and a surprise awaits at the end. This story is fantasy at its BEST...

Simone doesn't want any part of that but she really has no choice since being friendly is part of the curse. Will Heath be able to break down her walls and can the curse ever be broken?
While all of the stories were great I just decided to review a few. If not this review would go on forever. This box set something for everyone and will introduce you to some new authors.
I received a copy of this book for a honest review...
I was received this ARC by Anna Lowe and have so far only read Desert Hunt but I will read the other books as I get a chance!
*I received Desert Hunt from the author for a honest review*
This book was amazing. I love this author's style of writing, it flows smoothly and is easy to follow. I loved loved the storyline and the characters. Zack and Rae were just such a awesome pair. Zack is just the sweetest alpha male ever and I love him. Rae is someone who finds trust to be quiet a big issue in her life, partly because of who she is and whats gone on in her life. There relationship is really complicated but these strong characters, with a little help from their wolves/Coyote and friends, they fight for what they want. All sorts of emotions ran through me while reading this story, which is a sign the author is most definitely doing something right. It fits in nicely with the other stories in this series and I loved it!
*Disclaimer: Review copy provided of Masters Of The Hunt: Fated and Forbidden Box Set with the sole purpose of an honest review. All thoughts, comments and ratings are my own.
The only story I've read so far is DESERT HUNT by Anna Lowe. This great collection of stories was given to me for an honest review. Anna Lowe does it again with another great story featuring Zack and Rae. Zack is a mixed breed loner. Half coyote from his Navajo mother and half wolf by a white American but absent father. He's the pack's tracker. He meets Rae who is all wolf with a special secret when she arrives on the ranch after asking for a transfer from her old alpha. Everyone is told to stay away but there's something that draws these 2 together. Only the old alpha of Twin Moons Ranch has plans that could put childhood friends at each other's throats. This story was a step back as it takes place before book 1 of this series. I'm always anxious to read the next book in this line-up.
A great compilation of paranormal works by 15 amazing authors. Each book is as captivating as the next. Everything from vampires and witches to a whole new host of supernatural creatures. This compilation is also a fantastic introduction to a variety of new authors. I was only familiar with Charlene Hartnady's work, of which I am a big fan but I will definitely be following up on many of these authors' works.
Free copy provided in exchange for an honest review.

Her life and death struggle makes her a princess in a realm that means nothing to her. Even though she doesn't want anything to do with fairie, she is given no choice. Fantastic book!
Desert Hunt by Anna Lowe
Great story! Rae is an unusual werewolf. She transferred from her pack in Colorado because one of the wolves wanted to force her to mate with him. She ends up in Nevada, but then ends up transferring to the Twin Moon pack in Arizona. Little does she know that her past will come back to haunt her, and that the alpha of the Twin Moon pack wants his son to force her to become his mate. I love box-sets, they have such a variety that there's always something and someone new to read.
I was given this collection in exchange for an honest review. Because of technical difficulties, other commitments, the date I actually received it, and the length of the individual books, with most being fairly long full-length novels 27 or 28 chapters long and about 5000 - 6000 Kindle locations, I've only had time, so far, to read one of them and I started with the last one in the collection because it was written by the author who sent it to me for review. I'll come back to this set later this month or early next month to read the rest of the books and then update my review.
Earth's Requiem by Ann Gimpel
I really enjoyed reading Earth's Requiem. This is book one of a trilogy about an earth that has been taken over by Dark Gods with the help of an ancient race, the Lemurians, also called the Old Ones, who fall into the same genre of human myths and legends as the Atlanteans, Toltecs, and Babylonians. Between them they have killed the majority of Earth's human population, keeping only the magic users alive for, as yet, unknown reasons. This book centres on the life of Aislinn, a 22 year-old magic user who has seen both her parents murdered. Her father by the Dark Gods the night they arrived on the planet three years ago, and her mother Tara, a year later by the Old Ones. Over the course of the book, she finds new powers and allies in the form of a wolf named Rune and an ancient Celtic God, Fionn, her destined soul mate, as well as others. There is a paranormal romance in here, but this book ends on a cliff-hanger so although we know they love each other, Aislinn has been betrayed by someone she thought was a friend and we don't know what will happen next. It takes a lot for the resilient, kick-ass, Aislinn to trust and love both Rune and Fionn because she has walled herself off from her heart in the hopes of not getting hurt again, but she is determined to save the Earth, get rid of the invaders and over the course of the book she discovers more about herself and them. This is a great read, but it takes a little time to get fully into it and just when the war starts to heat up, the book stops, to be continued in the next book. I'm not sure I can wait long to know what happens next. 4 stars - I've deducted one for the cliff-hanger ending.
A quick perusal of these stories left me itching to read them all! So far the first story alone is well worth the cost of the set! An intriguing mix of genre and authors. **watch for updates on books** Sacrifice Me, Season One by Sarra Cannon: Wow! This one gave me a book hangover, started reading and before I knew it was five am and I’d been reading all night! Unbelievable story, well written and characters you can fall in love with. Franki receives a strange gift on her 21st birthday with a card inviting her to a club that does not seem to exist when she and her friend go looking for it. Strangely drawn down a dark alley they find the club but it is the strangest most surreal place she’s ever seen; everyone seems unbelievably attractive, and the weird drink the bartender gave her makes her feel like nothing else she’s ever felt, but makes her friend really sick, the female bouncer and the bartender both warn her not to leave with anyone she does not know and to stay away from any dark corners, any questions she asks for explanation are meant with vague non-answers. Not to mention the REALLY HOT perfect specimen of masculinity that she locked eyes with at the bar. Obviously things are not what they seem and when she thinks she sees her mother who disappeared three years ago she chases her out the door right into three vampires. Mr. Perfect (Rend) saves her but she is shocked to discover there is a world of magic, and she is a part of it. She starts working at Venom (the club) learning about herself and this new world she had found, of course she falls for Rend but he seems unattainable and she struggles with fear, frustration, and confusion as it become clear someone is after her that does not have her best interests at heart; in fact he wants to make a blood sacrifice of her! Can Rend protect her and will they ever be able to find love together? I’m not telling…read it to find out!!!FIVE + STARS*****+++

this boxed set given to me as an ARC in exchange for my honest review. I will add reviews of each book as I read them Sacrifice Me - Sarra Cannon This is such an intense story, and be prepared to not want to put it down once you start reading. Such a different take about coming of age. What is a girl supposed to do, when, on your birthday, you find out that the world just isnt what you thought it was? Sarra Cannon has a dark and brilliant imagination and has reached down into its depths and pulled out an amazing tale that has you guessing, more often that not incorrectly, as to what the outcome will be. She brings us along for a journey amongst the world of the others, as we follow Frankie and Rend on their discoveries of the heart, even though neither of them believe they have one capable of loving. The plot is extremely well thought out and executed. The characters are full of emotions, a bit quirky and just make you root for them, as they stumble along their journey. This is the entire season and definitely worth the read. Loved it!
Heir of the Dog - Hailey Edwards OMG! What a powerful book. It blows my mind how authors like Hailey Edwards can reach so far into their imaginations and create such an awesome story from it. After reading this book, I am left wanting for more from this author. The plot is totally out of this world compared to most paranormal books, but in the most wonderful way. It is fresh and new, giving us the requisite love story with a dash of minor violence and lots of fast paced action. The characters are complex, yet easy to get into their minds. I found it left off in a minor cliffhanger, and hope there will be a second part to continue on with the story of Thierry and Rook. And where does Shaw fit in all of this? Great read!
Desert Hunt – Anna Lowe After reading this book, I want to howl! The good kind of howling. I love this book, and hope to be able to read the rest in the series. This is a standalone book, but also the beginning of a series revolving around the Desert Moon pack. Ms Lowe has taken the wolf shifter to a new high with this tale, giving us a “mixed breed” and adding in a long-thought folklore in the world of the wolf shifter, and bringing them together as fate decided. They will have to climb over many obstacles before they find their HEA, if in fact they do. The characters are unique, showing both strength and weakness, and love in all forms. Loved this book, and definitely looking forward to more from this author. Well done!
I was given this book as an ARC for an honest review by Ellis Leigh*
Although I have only read two stories so far, I am looking forward to reading the others. Most of the authors will be new to me, and I am looking forward to reading their stories and adding them as new favorite authors to read.
This is a review of "Savage Surrender" by: Ellis Leigh. I am a big fan of Ellis' Feral Breed and the spin off The Gathering so I had to read her story Savage Surrender first, and it did not disappoint. Bez, or Beelzebub (his given name) was a story I hoped would be written sooner rather than later. His pack is a pack of 7 Dire Wolves (that most think are extinct), that are known as the Cleaners who work with Blassius (or AKA Blaze), the president of the NALB, to protect the Omega's. The Omega she-wolves are being kidnapped and Bez is given the task to locate the latest kidnapped Omega, a 15 year old young pup orphaned during the attack on her pack. Bez is loyal and conscientious, but when his sworn duty to Blaze conflicts with his heart he is faced with the biggest conflict imagined. He not only finds the young Omega, but also unexpectedly finds his fated mate. His orders are to save the young Omega, but faced with the decision to leave his mate and follow his orders, is not something he can do. Decision made, he gets them both out, but they won't be safe until the enemy that searches and finds them is eliminated. This can be read as a stand-alone story for those who haven't read Ellis's novels yet, I highly recommend you read all of the previous stories. Always love me a HEA, especially after some conflict resolution (ie: rogue wolves and a werewolf thrown into the mix)!
Pleasured by the Pack by Anne Marsh: This is the 2nd story in her Blue Moon Brides, but can be read as a stand alone. Blue Moon Brides are found only when the Blue Moon rises, and marks the mates by lighting them up by the light of the Blue Moon. It is set in the steamy Louisiana boyou, shifters Dre and Landry find their soul mate after searching for hundreds of years. The twins share everything, and their new bride joins them in a hot ménage. Before they can claim their bride, they have to fight off vamps set on taking the Blue Moon Brides, to keep them from their intended mates in the Breaux pack. Another great book by Anne Marsh.
Fantastic deal for $0.99!! I did receive this anthology free for an honest review, but this is a no brainer of a purchase either way. There are 16 stories that vary in genre from paranormal, sci-fi, urban fantasy to fantasy romance. This is a perfect way to try out a new genre, or for the cheap price, just read the ones you like! Another plus for me on this series was the story lengths. I don't know how to translate the e-pages to real paperbook pages, but you are looking at 10 Chapters plus for each book. These are not super fast reads so you have a chance for real story development.
My first choice read was Tangled Web by Crista McHugh (29 Chapters). I've read her Contemporary Romances but this was my first time to try out one of her Fantasy Romances. It is a great, spicy read that centers on the newly minted Emperor Titus Sergius Flavus' as he attempts to make social changes to his empire, tries not to be assassinated by one of his many family members, and convince former slave/assassin Azurha to become his Empress. As a Fantasy read, it helped that the established world followed a Greco-Roman society with enough familiar names/character roles that I didn't lose track of the story while trying to decipher the setting. There are too many times that stories have such a detailed description of their 'worlds' that I've forgotten what the story is about. Azurha is a strong heroine with a sympathetic background that makes me cheer for her strength and will to overcome her past experience. I like that she is able to make an important decision about her relationship with Titus without too much debate...it would have totally made her character a wash out (IMO). As much as I liked Azurha, Titus gave me some initial worry as he is made out to be the non-warrior, bookworm son who is reluctantly thrust to the throne. Not exactly my type of Hero and with a strong 'h', I wasn't sure where the author would take this relationship. I was not disappointed however, as Titus is full of surprises and is plenty strong enough to match Azurha. He can let Azurha be the lead in conflict scenes but not loose any of his attractiveness. It was kind of a neat turn to characters that I haven't read lately in the string of 'Alpha' hero books on my Kindle.
I have only read the first three but have enjoyed them for the most part and am looking forward to reading the rest.
Sacrifice me, Season one by Sarra Cannon - This book was pretty good. It had an interesting premises but was a little to angsty for me. The heroine was young and it showed. A lot of complaining about how she had no one, no money, her roommate couldn't understand what her life was like, blah blah blah. It got on my nerves after a while. The Hero was ok but a little wishy-washy as well. I also did not like the length of time it took the heroine to learn about herself. Everyone else seem to know what/who she was but no one would tell her. I definitely did feel her frustration it that aspect. Just tell her already b/c I would like to know as well. It seemed to be drawn out for no reason but to up the angst level. Overall, it was interesting but a lot of it could have been edited out and it would have held my attention better.
Heir of the Dog, by Hailey Edwards - This was the second book in a series but I didn't feel lost not reading the first. UF about a half fae with a death like set of powers. Plenty of action and a fairly fast paced plot. It ended with obviously much more story to go, kind of like how the Mercy Thompson books are written. Each book resolves the immediate plot line but also leaves more to continue into the next book. Overall, it was pretty good but not really what I normally choose to read very often. There was also the introduction of a love triangle and I am not really a fan of that type of plot device. For the story alone, it was entertaining but kind of dragged at the end with no real resolution.
Desert Hunt by Anna Lowe - I enjoyed this one a lot. Shifters are one of my favorite types of stories and this one really delivered. I like both the hero and heroine very much and thought the the story had an interesting concept as far as the heroines heritage goes. Also, this one was more of a stand alone which I tend to like better than series. I am impatient and want all of the story right away. There was the typical misunderstanding plot device which could have been avoided if the heroine just thought about it for a minute instead of jumping to conclusions but it still worked with the story. It all worked out in the end for a definite HEA ending.
Desert Hunt (Twin Moon Ranch) (prequel) by Anna Lowe
Rae is a special kind of wolf. Abused by her home pack, and mistreated by the pack she escapes to, she is afraid she will never feel safe and free anywhere. She is afraid to trust and she fears a forced mating. Then, she is informed that she is being sent to the Twin Moon Ranch Pack. She doesn't know why, but she knows she has to go and is hoping it is where she will find her freedom.
Zack is considered a low wolf because of his lineage. When in fact, he is an Alpha. He is just very restrained and never shows it or challenges anyone in his pack. His duty is to track trespassers and deal with them. Due to his low status he figures he will never find his mate. After all, what decent female wolf would want a half-breed.
Rae and Zack have a lot of decisions to make. Only time will tell if Zack will live through them and if Rae will learn to trust again. Two very long roads for two very stubborn and confused shifters.
Savage Surrender (Devil's Dires (Prequel)) by Ellis Leigh
Bez is a breed of shifter that is thought to be gone. Only they have been in hiding, tracking, hunting and killing those who pose a threat to the Omegas of the other packs. Bez and his pack-mates have resigned themselves to never having mates. They have lived for a couple of hundred years with no sign of one in sight. However, when one is found it is quite a shock and hard to believe and of course she shows up in the middle of a mission.
Sariel is and Omega and has been kidnapped. Though no one knows it. She holds out little hope of escape or rescue. She knows her time is limited, but she is quite ready to give up. When another Omega, a young Omega, is put into the holding room with her she decides right there and then that they will both escape. Then a shifter shows up to rescue the young Omega and imagine both of their surprise upon the realization that Sariel and this shifter are mates.
Bez is good, the best at what he does, but is he good enough to go up against so many shifters at once, even for the safety of his mate and his duty to protect the younger Omega? Oh....and don't forget the Beast.
Many times these collections are short stories. They are enjoyable but short reads. It is not the case with this collection. These are full length, developed stories which will keep you entertained for many, many days. I like these collections as they have introduced me to some of my favorite authors. I sign up for the newsletters and get to discover more of their work. They also give me a chance to revisit some of my favorite characters.
I really enjoyed Desert Hunt. It features the wolves of Twin Moon Ranch. I have read all the books featuring these characters and this is a prequel featuring Rae and Zachary and how their relationship started. Rae is hiding her real role so that others don't take advantage of her. Alphas have tended to a abuse her in the past and she had a bad experience with a wolf who wanted to claim her. Zach is a hybrid wolf/coyote shifter. He doesn't feel like he truly belongs and is good enough. These two have everyone fighting against their relationship.
I also really enjoyed Sacrifice Me which went into many directions I did not expect. Vampires as alchemists is an intriguing combination. It was my first book by the author and it is a great introduction to the author's world of witches and other supernatural beings. It features a college student learning she is actually a witch from a very powerful family who is at great risk. I will be checking out the other stories.
Heir of the Dog is the second book in the author's series and picks up with Theirry being nineteen and no longer a student and expected to act as a Marshall. I did not read the first book in the series and had no problem jumping into the story. She has a human mom and a father who is from the fairy High Court. Her ex is a succubus. She leads an exciting life and it gets even more interesting when she is called to act in her father's place. I really want to know how this story goes and will have to read the next book in the series.
I still have more stories to read and will update the review. Based on the ones I gave read, I would encourage everyone who likes paranormal stories to purchase it. There really is something for everyone. It is a really great value considering all the stories you get. I was provided a copy in return for a honest review.
*I received a free copy of this set from Ellis Leigh in return for an honest review*
I have found this box set to be a very awesome mix of steamy and sweet. It can go from one extreme to another and still be very enjoyable. I love connecting to all of these different characters and reading their different stories. Due to reading this box set I have found that I have so many more books to add to my TBR pile, as it is ever-growing. I cannot express enough how much I have found enjoyment from reading this tantalizing mixture of novels and novellas. I must also that this box set is not for the faint of heart and should be read knowing that some very naughty things will be going down. Over and over.
*This is a review of Nicole Ciacchella's book within this box set apart of her Astoran Asunder series*
When I had begun reading this book I found it quite different from those of the rest of the box set. It didn't particularly drag me in. At first. It definitely got deeper and much better as the story progressed. I'm not really into the whole mystery/suspense genre, but I do make this book an exception. Cianne is not a weak girl by a long-shot. She is very tough and can handle her own. She is self-taught and is quite smart. Cianne is apart of the House Starleigh, one of the commanding trade houses of the realm. Her house expects certain things from Cianne starting with hooking up with her dearest friend. When someone from Cianne's past makes a re-appearance Cianne finds a confidant to entrust. Kila is an Enforcer who is drug back to the city to find out what is going on behind closed doors between the mighty trade houses. Kila and Cianne knew each other a long time ago, and when they collide again, they are to solve the mystery behind sudden tragedies that are too neat. When things begin to fall into place, there seems to be no one to trust. I found this book to be very complex and I liked the mystery. I also liked that there were strong characters that could defend themselves and didn't have to rely on anyone. I will be looking for more from this author with this series because I want to know how it ends!! Cliffhangers will be the death of me!
so 16 full length paranormal tales by some of the best authors of this gene and right now for 99cents- that is a steal folks--- loved this box set- the stories had well developed complex characters- the stories were well written - and had a bit of everything - mysteries- suspense- thrills- chills - hot steamy romance - lots of plot twists- and this box set has pretty much covered all the supernatural creatures- witches- vampires- shifters - demons- devils- wizards- dragons- - ghosts - you name it they are here- some of these authors were new to me and trust me i will be getting more of their books and some were old friends who once again drew me into their world -- there were feisty females and arrogant know it all males- magic and humor abounds- and you might not like all of the stories but for the price it is a great deal- so trying to pick my fav and narrowed it down to 2 -- Savage Surrender by Ellis Leigh-- bez and his pack are dire wolves- known as the cleaners- they are a group that works for the president-- he calls them in when omega (lady wolves) are disappearing- bez tracks the kidnapper and finds 2 omega's once of who is his life mate- now he has to fight his way out and get the omega's to safety - then other book that i loved was Earth's requiem by Ann Gimpel which is a totally different world and tale everything on earth we know is either gone or changed for the worse- seems the dark gods returned our heroine Aislinn lost both of her parents and now has one mission in life to obliterate anyone who is slaughtering humans- then she meets finn who is a celtic god and boy oh boy thing really get interesting here- --- I received ARC in exchange for an honest review- --- and one last thing this book is for adults only there are some explicit sex scenes and some really raw language in some of the stories but not all -- 1 of the things i really liked about this set was it gives a heat rating at the start of each tale
Sacrifice Me, Season One by Sara Cannon -DNF Heroine TSTL, bad guy is literally called 'Devil'... made it ~50% through before giving up.
Heir of the Dog, by Hailey Edwards -4/5 Enjoyed it enough that I'm not quite ready to move on to the next story of the anthology. Oh! Apparently, it's actually the second book in a series. At no point was I lost in the story or world building, nor did I feel like there were massive info dumps.
Desert Hunt, by Anna Lowe -2/5 meh. Just... meh. Not bad, but not great. Didn't really care about Rae's great big secret, once it was revealed.
Bait: The Angler Book One by Annie Nicholas -2/5 Also meh. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. Mostly not to my taste. Fairly well written, but I wasn't invested enough in the story to really care one way or the other. Connie felt a little too melodramatic (?maybe?) for my personal preference.
Prince in Leather- Hearth Motel 1, by Holley Trent -4/5 I enjoyed this book a lot. It had fated mates trope, which isn't always my favorite, but I thought it was handled fairly well. I also like that although the heroine was actually a very special snowflake by the world's standards, Ms. Trent didn't instantly give her control or untouchability as soon as she 'discovered' her secret heritage. However, I was not entirely a fan of the ending-the novel just ended; instead of wrapping up all the loose ends-or even most of them-it just kind of stopped. I already planned on reading the next book in the series.
Call of the Dragon by Elianne Adams -3/5 More fated mates. There was too much angst in this for me to properly enjoy it. I was laughing out loud at some of the sentences, but not because they were intentionally funny. Otherwise, it was well written. Just not my favorite type of novel. I felt the heroine was able to accept her new fate a little too easily and adjusted a little too well too quickly.
What a great collection of stories. From shifters and vampires to dragons and faires, these have it all for everyone. Here are my reviews of what I've read so far. I received this in exchange for an honest review
Sacrifice Me, Season One - What happens when you receive a birthday present which leads you to find out things that you never knew about yourself. Add a sexy bar owner who isn't whom you think and you have a great story!
Heir of the Dog - A marshal who hunts demons, ends up in Fairy with a prince and soon is part of the Hunt because the father she never knew has gone missing. A great story about a woman finding out stuff about herself and what happens when that happens during the hunt. I am definitely adding this author to my list to find out what happens next
Desert Hunt - In this we get Zack and Rae's story and what a great story. Like the other books in this series it's a strong story with strong characters, if you've read the others in the series then you'll meet up again with some of your favorites. Loved the conversations with Zach's coyote and wolf and Rae's with her wolf. They truly made the story even better. If you haven't read the others in the series you must!!
Prince in Leather - I love this story. Simone gets stuck in a family curse by chance and now can't leave the motel unless there are no occupants for 2 weeks and right when she thinks the curse will be lifted in comes a bunch of motorcycles. And the leader is a Sidhe Prince who realizes she's his mate and now he has to make her realize it's true while captures different characters. Let not forget his team, which includes his sister, who make changes to the hotel and dealing with his mother. Another author I want to read more of.
I was given an ARC of "Masters of the Hunt: Fated and Forbidden" in exchange for an honest review.
I found myself feeling abit overwhelmed when I first opened this boxset, my iBooks app said 11,180 pages & my Kindle app had fluctuating hours, at most 108... Anyway I soldier on, or read on.... I haven't read all the box set yet, I'm 19% in.... so this is a partial review, that I'll update once I've finished each story inside.
Sacrifice Me, Season 1 by Sarra Cannon Let me start off by saying it's been about a year since I first stumbled onto a Sarra Cannon book, & I couldn't wait to jump into this 1. OMG the suspense I felt through most of this entry, all the twists & turns throughout the 2 week time frame for Frankie.... so much happens I feel the poor girl had whiplash constantly. I couldn't stop reading, I had to find out how this ended...
Heir of the Dog by Hailey Edwards This was the first book Ive read from Hailey, so I wasn't sure what to expect when I started. So when I found myself quickly entranced in the book, I was surprised. I couldn't put it down & now I search for more books by Hailey, also I hope that wasn't the end of Thierry & Rook.
Desert Hunt by Anna Lowe I love Anna's "Twin Moon Ranch" series, so I was easily pulled into 'Desert Hunt'. Once I started I couldn't stop. 'Desert Hunt' predates the first book in the series 'Desert Moon' telling the story of how Rae came to Twin Moon Ranch, how a half wolf, half coyote shifter finds something only heard in stories & how Alpha's plans are easliy overturned when mates find one-another. I can't wait for more of this series.
It's hunting season, with a menagerie of hunters. The adventures and action are spell binding! Haven't finished the book - can't wait to get back to it! Here's what I've enjoyed so far: Sacrifice Me, Season 1 Sarra Cannon Franki returned home to find black roses, on her 21st birthday; the card wasn't signed just named a club she should visit, no actual address. She and her friend, Katy, decide to go bar hoping. They end up at the club mentioned in the note. Franki questions many things there. She doesn't realize the hunt has begun! Desert Hunt Anna Marsh Rae is a shifter, never quite fitting in with a pack. She is different from other shifters and can't reveal why. She's been sent to yet another pack. She literally backs into Zack. Their wolves are instantly attracted but their human parts fight it. Unbeknownst to them, one of them is being hunted! Savage Surrender Ellis Leigh Omegas, rare and powerful female shifters are being abducted! Blasius, president of the NALB, calls on Bez, a warrior and tracker, to find and rescue the latest abductee, a teen. The quest begins. What will he learn? Pleasured by the Pack Anne Marsh Wolf mating season. Only happens during a blue moon, and that's rare. Twin brothers, Dre and Landry are shifters without mates. Landry believes he knows where his mate is; on a boat. The boat has two women aboard. Which is his mate? There are other predators to be avoided! The hunt is on! (5 stars for books read, minus 1/2 stars for books not yet read. Total is 4 1/2 stars) Received book free for honest review.
