The darkness is there, the light is there but she is here. I want to protect her. I can't leave her. My death has ripped her world in two. -Mikel
He's still here, I feel him all around. At night his arms wrap around me and I can breathe again. I know he should go. I know he no longer belongs here, but I'm selfish and I don't want him to leave me. - Irish
I'm Amanda Kay, a married mother of two. I have a degree in Multimedia Journalism with a minor in Political Science. Writing has always been a way for me to release the stress of everyday life. After a while I decided I wanted to share my stories, but I wanted them to be affordable for all so after some careful consideration I decided that my E-books would always be just $0.99 cents (USD). Mission
My mission is to hopefully give readers a voice. As a teacher and mother of two I see the struggles teenagers and young adults face every day and I hope my stories can be something they can get lost in, but also find hope in.
Vision
My vision is to inspire every day. Not only through my writing, but also in how I carry myself and interact with people on a daily basis whether in person or online.
This is my first read of this Author, and i wasn't disappointed! :) I'd read most of the teasers, and knew there was a possibility of reading some heart-wrenching moments. From the very first page, those moments began! I think it was the way the Author let you feel EXACTLY how Irish felt from losing the man she loved. So, Mikel loses his life in a plane crash, but when faced with going to the light and never seeing Irish again, he just can't seem to do it. He needs to be with her, to show her that he's still around. Mikel knows he's breaking all kinds of rules, but he just can't help it. Irish instantly feels and sees his presence, and that's when i feel their TRUE romance with each other begins. It continues to get stronger through-out the rest of the story, and it's like they've never been parted in such a cruel way. I'm sure we've all, including myself, wondered if loved ones who've sadly past can still see us, be with us? And, even though this is a story, it fills you with contentment that the questions we have are, in some-way, real. I'm really glad i read this book, and even though i didn't cry like i thought i would, i was still happy with the fact that it made me smile throughout, in a warm and romantic way. These characters deserved the love they had for each-other. I do wish that it had been longer, but what was there was joyful.
Get your tissues ready! I have read and reread this story... 4 times now. I love being a beta reader for Amanda Kay. I get great stories before they are published.
I have loved every one of Amanda's stories. And they always keep getting better, but this one right here, there is nothing that compares! I mean NOTHING!!! The amount of tears I have cried over this book is just crazy. I could have ended any drought. Won't Cross Over is so heartbreaking, and so heartwarming. How on earth can it be both??? Especially the back and forth kind??? Well, I can promise you, my heart was ripped out constantly, and in the end, it was put back together and packed in a soft silky coffin all at the same time.
When Irish leaves Mikel because he loves flying more than her (so she thinks), she never dreamt that she would regret it for the rest of her life. With his baby on the way, Irish has to learn to live with the regret of leaving Mikel, only to end up losing her only love in a plane crash. Oh, but don't worry. She gets her happy ever after. Actually, there are two HEA's in this story. Now you wanna know how she gets hers when the only man she will ever love is dead? Well, I am not spoiling that for you. Trust me, you won't believe it!!! Just remember to be prepared for tears.
Amanda Kay's book "Won't Cross Over" is one that will tear at your heart strings. It is overwhelmingly emotional! Spiritual. Sad but happy. Hopeful. You will get sucked in from the beginning, making It impossible to put down.
Irish and Mikel meet in high school and fall in love. They both thought they would be together forever until Irish leaves. She believes that Mikel loves flying more than her. But after two years, she comes home to Mikel, who is happier than ever to take her back. They plan on getting married!! But Mikel is taken from her when his plain crashes. How will she go on without the love of her life??
Irish's unfailing love amazes me! Even after His death, she is completely and entirely devoted to Mikel. I have never read a story that made me cry as much as Irish and Mikel's. I have never read of such loss with just as much love and hope at the same time. I highly recommend Amanda Kay's "Won't Cross Over"! It is truly incredible.
