She swore she'd never give him the chance to do it again.
When Milo reappears after a failed marriage, determined to win Shanice back, she gives him one condition: no games. No lies. No broken promises.
This time, Milo is all in.
What begins as a second chance quickly turns into forever, taking them from old flames to wedding vows in just ninety days.
But some secrets refuse to stay buried.
When the past collides with the future they've fought so hard to build, Shanice and Milo must decide if love is enough to overcome betrayal... or if the same heartbreak that tore them apart once will destroy them for good.
Shani Denise writes soulful, spicy urban romances that celebrate Black love in all its beauty, power, and magic. A proud Detroit native, she infuses every story with the city’s signature blend of grit and warmth. Penned the poetic lover girl, Shani brings a lyrical boldness to her storytelling—her voice raw, heartfelt, and unapologetically real. Through richly drawn characters and emotional, heat-filled narratives, she delivers love, healing, and intensity on every page, crafting unforgettable stories that linger long after the last chapter.
If you love a second‑chance romance that actually earns its way back into your heart, this one is going to hit you right in the chest. Shani gave us a tender, grown, emotionally grounded story that had me swooning, smiling, and kicking my feet like I was 17 again.
💛 Shanice & Milo: The Love That Never Fully Let Go Shanice and Milo were high school sweethearts until one stupid mistake shattered everything. Milo got caught kissing another girl, and Shanice walked away with a broken heart. He’s regretted it ever since even through the Army, marriage, and fatherhood.
Years later, Milo reaches out. He’s getting a divorce, he’s hurting, and he’s finally ready to admit what he lost. Shanice is hesitant (as she should be), but that old love never really died. And once the divorce is finalized? Milo puts in real effort consistent, intentional, grown‑man effort to earn his way back into her life.
🌿 Integrity, Healing, and Doing It the Right Way One thing I loved about this book is the integrity Shani wrote into their journey.
- Shanice keeps her distance until Milo is fully divorced. - Milo doesn’t expect a free pass he works for her trust. - Their reunion isn’t rushed; it’s rebuilt with care, communication, and accountability.
This is the kind of second chance that feels earned, not convenient.
👀 The Ex‑Wife Drama Listen...... Shani is a lover girl, so she kept it classy but the ex‑wife using their daughter as leverage? That storyline was real, messy in a way that happens in real life, and handled with so much emotional honesty. It showed how divorce can bring out the worst in people, especially when kids are involved.
And yes… I personally would’ve been a little grimier. But Shanice and Milo deserved their soft landing, and Shani gave it to them.
💫 This novella may be short, but it took me through so many emotions. It’s tender, romantic, mature, and full of that “we found our way back to each other” warmth that makes second‑chance romance so addictive.
⭐ Final Thoughts 90 Days to Forever is a swoony, heartfelt second‑chance romance that respects the characters, the healing, and the love they rebuild. Shanice and Milo’s HEA feels earned, intentional, and deeply satisfying.
I cannot wait for other readers to get their hands on this so we can scream, swoon, and discuss every moment together.
Listen... I picked this up expecting a quick palate cleanser and instead ended up in my feelings! 💔🥹
Shanice and Milo were high school sweethearts who seemed destined to make it, until one bad decision changed everything. Shanice chose herself and walked away, while Milo spent years realizing he had thrown away the best thing in his life.
When they reconnect years later, the chemistry is still there. I really appreciated that Milo didn't make excuses and actually owned his mistakes. Watching them revisit old memories and slowly find their way back to each other was one of my favorite parts of the story. Of course, things couldn't stay peaceful for long. The ex-wife brought all the drama, and the secrets that started coming out had me glued to the pages.
Margaret worked my nerves from beginning to end! I couldn't get over how cold she was toward Milo. 🤬 And don't even get me started on little Majesty because I need to know what happened there!
This was an enjoyable, emotional second-chance romance that pulled me in way more than I expected. 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
I literally read this book in an hour and a half! Shani Denice, I just knew when I saw this cover that I was going to love this book!
This is a second chance romance about high school sweethearts finding their way back to each other, with buried secrets, heartbreak, forgiveness, and the possibility of forever all packed into a quick, easy to read novella.
We follow Shanice and Milo, high school sweethearts who were once each other’s everything until they weren’t. Fast forward to years later, now grown, Milo is getting a divorce and wants to rekindle things with Shanice, the woman who got away. But getting a second chance at love isn’t always easy, especially when there are secrets that could change everything.
The alternate ending was ABSOLUTELY GENIUS! I love when an author gives you something you weren’t expecting but clearly needed!
If you’re looking for a quick little read between your next reads, I recommend picking this one up. I enjoyed it, and I can’t wait to read more of Shani Denice’s work!
This story had potential, but it never really got there for me. For the good parts, I love a good second chance romance, especially when they were young when the breakup happens. Milo and Shanice deserved a second chance after Milo made a stupid mistake when they were teens. He definitely paid for that stupid mistake with Margaret because she took him through it. Milo reaching out to Shanice while he was going through, which led to them reconnecting and him pursuing her hard. Where the story fell flat to me is the lack of details. Everything moved so fast to them reconnecting, proposal, Milo's divorce, to the marriage. I needed more to feel like I was a part of the story instead of being told. It did keep me entertained with the drama from Margaret. She was foul, and she deserved some form of karma for what she did to Milo.
This was the perfect novella at just the right time. Fresh out of spooky season, I asked my wife to give me a book rec that would warm my heart really quick while on a trip to Orlando for a wedding. She handed me a physical copy of Ninety Days to Forever by Shani Denise. I also downloaded the Kindle version for emergencies.
I’ll pause here because this is important. There are two versions, and I’ve read them both. There’s the standard version and the exclusive one. They both include an epilogue, but the exclusive version is longer and turned an already good book into a five star read for me. Please, I repeat, please read the exclusive version.
At the heart of this story is a second chance romance involving two high school sweethearts, Milo and Shanice. Something happens, and many years later, they're given another opportunity to make it last forever. But that’s not all. There is another story brewing simultaneously, one deeply rooted in love, pain, heartbreak, resentment, jealousy, and revenge. So this story goes beyond a second chance romance. It strengthens into a heartwarming tale of chosen fatherhood.
I loved every character except for Margaret. I will continue to pray for her downfall.
This book was incredibly entertaining, and I was sad to see it end. It was the perfect companion for my trip to a wedding. I even danced a little!
Shani Denise is quickly becoming an author who not only creates worlds through her pen- but she writes the human heart. I read this offering three times because I needed to better understand and resolve the actions of Margaret and the impact of those actions on Majesty. Sometimes the love story is not just romantic, it’s relational. Sometimes heartache isn’t just a break up, but the grief of losing someone and the identities we construct around the relationship. You know the writing is amazing when you are turning the last page looking for resolution to the experiences of the character, when your prayers center on a character that is absolutely fictional but seems so real. Shani Denise has written the heart and taps into the reader and the very catharsis that this work evokes. May we all find a love willing to stand in the gap for us that sees us in our low places, fills us when we are beyond empty, and encourages us that life is still worth living after experiencing the lowest of lows. Well done good sis!
This was my first read by Shani Denise, and what a wonderful introduction to her writing! I can already tell she’s going to be an author I keep on my radar because I absolutely loved this story.
At only 71 pages before the alternate ending, Ninety Days to Forever is a quick read, but don’t let the page count fool you it packs some serious feelings into those pages. I found myself completely absorbed in Milo and Shanice’s story. So absorbed, in fact, that I was still reading the alternate ending at 3 AM because apparently sleep was optional. 😂
I laughed. I got emotional. I may or may not have been dangerously close to shedding a tear or two. This book evoked feelings I honestly wasn’t prepared for, and I think that’s part of what made it such a great read for me.
One of my favorite things was how real the characters felt. Their happily-ever-after wasn’t wrapped up in a bunch of unrealistic embellishments. It felt genuine, relatable, and earned…and I really appreciated that.
Sweet, emotional, and completely captivating, Ninety Days to Forever was a beautiful little love story that reminded me that sometimes you don’t need hundreds of pages to make a story leave an impression.
I loved this one, and I’m already diving into another Shani Denise book after posting this review. I think I’ve found a new favorite author! 💕
This was such a great, quick read. Milo broke Shanice’s heart in high school and she vowed from that day on that they would only be friends. Years pass and then comes a text from Milo to Shanice just wanting to talk to a friend. Milo is married to Margaret and is a dad now, but one look at baby girl, and Shanice has questions. I could not stand Margaret the whole book. She was never a good person and Milo finally started to see that. He also realized he never stopped loving Shanice. He was intentional and wanted to give her the love he should've given her over the years. I love a good second-chance romance. Their love was fast, it was heavy, and it was real! This book moves fast, but it is so good! It was a beautiful, heartfelt love story!
This novella started out kinda slow for me and I was like hmm, I don't know where this is going to go. But once all of the characters were introduced, it was off to the races.
This was a second chance romance that did not disappoint. Shanice and Milo were high school sweethearts who lost their way. Milo married someone else and Shanice heard from him later in life and we see the complexity of the relationship and how divorce, lies, and deception can truly mess up a family.
I won't spoil this for you, but once you get past the beginning you'll want more .
If you are looking for a short but good read, I truly recommend it. I'd give it a 4.5 if I could.
The story is an excellent example of “if he wanted to, he would”. It is a great instance of a Black man doing the right and honest thing. I appreciated that Milo was intentional about Shanice. He was serious about pursuing her and followed through on getting a divorce so that he could date her. It demonstrates that if a man is serious about a woman…he will not take months or years to decide whether to commit or not! I also liked that Shanice held firm to her boundary about not getting involved with a married man, despite their past. I really enjoyed the novella.
This story is one of love reaquainted. Shanice and Milo where young high schoolers the first time they met and when their relationship ended, neither of them really knew where life wouldlead them. In adulthood, their maturity prevaled. It was that maturity that helped them navigate a very difficult situation with a decietful ex. Even though their romance seemed to move quickly, it was right on time. This is a quick read (under 100 pages) but the story gives what it needed.
I received the ARC direct from Ms. Shani Denise herself and I’m super grateful! I absolutely loved this novella! Ninety Days to Forever is a beautiful second-chance romance filled with love, heartbreak, forgiveness, and redemption. Milo and Shanice were high school sweethearts whose relationship was shattered by betrayal. Years later, after life has taken them down very different paths, Milo is forced to confront the painful realization that he let the love of his life slip away. Their journey back to one another is emotional, heartfelt, and filled with moments that had me rooting for them every step of the way. The author did a wonderful job of showing that true love isn’t always a straight path and that sometimes people have to grow before they can appreciate what they once had. I loved the chemistry between the characters and the emotional depth woven throughout the story. If you’re looking for a quick, heartfelt read with plenty of emotion and a satisfying second-chance romance, I definitely recommend Ninety Days to Forever!
I want to thank author Shani Denise for letting me be one of her ARC readers. It’s a novella and I will be honest I am not a fan of novellas because I usually want more. However this novella was just right. It was enough to tell the story without feeling like it needed more. I want more just because it was just that good. It was a beautiful love story that felt real. It was a true romance read which is hard to find these days. I definitely would recommend and I am definitely looking forward to more from this author.
This novella was just the pallate cleanser I needed. It also shows that a short story can pack as much of a punch as a three to five hundred page book. Young love...been there. Young heartbreak...been there. A meant to be love...I'm there right now so I can definitely relate to this story. What I can't relate to is the secrets, lies, and games that were played and at the expense of multiple lives. In the end, the heart needs and wants what it needs and wants.
Arc I received this arc directly from the author. This was a second chance romance. I thoroughly enjoyed this read. It was short with some drama but also had maturity,, forgiveness, patience and love. Milo and Shanice were high school sweethearts until one choice changed their relationship. Years later they reconnected after their lives went in different directions. Even with reconnecting, it wasn’t all smooth. But how they navigated together was refreshing. This was a great palette cleanser.
Arc received from the author: This is a too short but not too sweet perfect example and depiction of second chance love between Milo and Shanice and (WHY THEY GOT BANNED FROM SAM’s CLUB 🤣🤭). High school sweethearts who although didn’t work out initially. Found their way back together. The road wasn’t simple and it did come with some heartbreak of its own. Both Milo and Shanice learned from their past and instead of walking away they loved and prayed their way through and ended up with a love all their own.
This was an ARC straight from the author herself ( Many Thanks). The story was a short and sweet novella. The second chance romance was very heart warming. I mean, this book checked all of the boxes. When I reached the end I was sad that I wouldn't be hearing more about Shanice and Milo. I would not be upset with a follow-up book. I will Def. I will be getting the paperback copy so I can check out the extras and learn about little Majesty in the future. This was a gem.
First time reading this author and this gave me all the details without the details! The story felt complete and shows you never forget your first love. I like how she captured what men go through emotionally when they choose wrong but how hard they work for when it's right.
Just because it was over, don’t mean it was over. I love second chance romances and that’s exactly what this author presented. I really enjoyed this novella.
What a beautiful story. Even though it is a novella, it packs an emotional punch. I loved the oove story between the two main characters. The ex-wife needed to be on a t-shirt. She was so damaged.
Ninety Days to Forever may have been short, but it gave everything it needed to give!
This was probably one of the shortest books I’ve read, but it still delivered love, patience, respect, growth, and accountability. It was a beautiful reminder that love doesn’t follow a timeline. Sometimes, when the connection is real, the amount of time doesn’t determine how deeply two people can feel for one another.
I loved how Shanice stood ten toes down and made it clear that history and lingering feelings weren’t enough to make her forget everything that happened. Milo quickly realized that getting close to her again wouldn’t be easy—and if he wanted another chance, words alone weren’t going to be enough. 👀
This second-chance romance showed that growth sometimes requires acknowledging the past and putting in the work to rebuild what was lost. I also appreciated that forgiveness wasn’t treated like something that was automatically owed just because love was still present.
And whew…the jealousy! 😮💨 This story showed just how far someone may be willing to go when selfishness takes over. Some people would rather interfere with someone else’s happiness than accept that everything isn’t meant for them. The lengths jealousy can push someone to? Wild. 👀
Short, sweet, emotional, and proof that a book doesn’t need hundreds of pages to leave an impact. Ninety Days to Forever gave a full story in a small package, and I loved every minute of it!
This book was nothing short of AMAZING, This short read proves love can be intentional, challenging and sometimes even difficult all at the same time, but with work dedication values and love anything is possible.
With the doubt and challenges they faced to see Milo & Shanice get their happy ending it was all worth it at the end.
Margaret… Girl Bye 🙄
I’d recommend this book to anyone into romance whether young or someone looking for a read to spark a little hope. This is a book for hopefull lovers in all walks of life!
This was an amazing book and I thank you Shani Denise for entrusting me with your work of art ! I love this book so much and I wish you all the success in your writing career.
Short, sweet and a pinch of mess! A story of redemption and second chances. Milo and Shanice were high school sweethearts until one young stupid decision kept them apart. Now grown and having major regrets these two try again and of course they’re met with some discourse and disappointment. Overall, this was a great short story and a perfect palette cleanser.
This was short and quick, emotional, and loving. So glad there was a happy ending. Wish they could have still had a relationship with Majesty, but hurt people hurt people.
ARC read- second chance novella! I loved everything abt Milo and Shanice’s love story. Although this book was only 100 pages the author was able to captivate me from beginning to end. It was great to see how a relationship goes through its challenges but love was able to prevail.
This was my first read by this author and I look forward to reading more of her work!
Good read a lot of mix feelings but it definitely hit home but I thought Shanice wasn’t go fully trust him again but I guess people do change and they got they happy ending but 5 kids dammit they wasn’t playing
