Been following Emily’s journey since the beginning & was super grateful to be apart of the ARC team!
This book was amazing! Such a great debut & I can only see this Trilogy going up more! I read 3 chapters & wanted to keep going but I couldn’t, came back the next day & binged it all in one go.
Nothing too complex here. Easy to understand about the academy & the how and what of everyone. I’d love to be considered for a place thnx in advance xxx
Such fun side characters that stole my heart!!
I don’t think there was much romance going on.. it was there but it didn’t take away anything from the plot going on!! I’d say this is more plot vibes & I actually LOVED this type. It’s different to the usual I’ve read.
A huge page turner with twists & turns towards the end and you can feel it building up for the next one!
Super excited to see where this goes - the last 20% was action packed & sets us up for the next one!!!

The concept of this book was really good and immediately grabbed my attention. It’s such a unique idea and loved it, I definitely think it could be developed even more. I also loved how fast paced the book was and I quickly soared through it. I also think the author did a great job of making the characters and they were memorable and fun.
To me the second part seemed a bit rushed and I feel like we couldn’t have developed the relationship between the characters a bit more to make the stakes even higher. It often felt at times there was a lot of telling you instead of things happening in real time.
Overall I enjoyed it but I do think it has so much more potential in it. Congratulations on the book Emily!

This book had SOOO much that I love in it, we had trials & deadly tasks, dark magical powers, academic setting & even some betrayals that shocked me!!

Utterly fantastic read!
I read 75% of this book in a single day - I couldn't put it down. I really enjoyed the magic system based on emotion and trauma, and it was heartbreaking at times learning about each character 💔
But it was also such a fun, easy read - the perfect book to read on the train.
The only little bit of criticism I have is that I wanted more of everything! I would have loved more time to be spent in the veinborn classes, more yearning between the main characters, more of everything! It would also be amazing to get more backstory about the world ravaged by the depression pandemic. I hope that if it's not explored in the main series, Chivers sees this as a sign to write it as a potential standalone project.

My first ever ARC & I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect but, I was SO impressed with this book. Really easy to get immersed in the world Emily has created, with a cast of characters you find yourself caring about so quickly. The only pitfall being, I already want to read the next book 🙈 cant wait to find out what happens next!

For a debut novel?! Emily, I am SO impressed
One of my favourite things about Beneath Our Veins is that it genuinely felt different. I read a LOT, so finding a concept that doesn’t immediately remind me of three other books is getting increasingly difficult, but this managed it!
I was hooked ridiculously quickly. What started as “I’ll just read a few chapters” very quickly became me needing to know what the hell was going to happen next, and I ended up flying through it in a couple of days
The plot absolutely takes centre stage here and I loved that. There’s romance woven through, but it never overshadows everything else going on. Instead, we get an intriguing academy setting, unique magic systems, characters I became attached to far too quickly, and this constant feeling that there was something else waiting around the corner
And THEN the twists started twisting!
The further I got, the more emotionally invested I became. Every time I thought I had something figured out, something else happened and completely changed where I thought we were going. The final stretch had me absolutely glued to my Kindle
Original, addictive, emotional and such a strong start to a trilogy. If THIS is Emily debut, I genuinely cannot wait to see what she does next

The magic system in the world was so unique and interesting with characters gaining their magic after suffering trauma and the way the magic system was described and used throughout the book was so easy to follow and interesting to see how each characters magic developed and became a part of them.
There was so much to enjoy in this book with the academic setting, strong main characters and side characters, deadly trials, betrayal, and a romance subplot which was there throughout but felt like a nice level of romance that didn’t overtake the plot. The story was so intriguing I never wanted to put the book down.
And the twists were crazy! I was already hooked after the first few chapters but last 40% had me on the edge of my seat, this was an absolute roller coaster and I enjoyed every page of it.
My only wish is that there had been more, there were times in the book that I was hoping things would be more developed for example more time spent in the classes, more yearning between the characters, more time spent delving into side characters, all aspects were definitely there I just would love even more. A sign that I will definitely be picking up book 2!

I usually avoid dual POV's as often it detracts from my investment in the MC or the jarring switching ruins the immersion. Beneath Our Veins, however, does a great job of creating and holdijg unique voices, goals and developing arcs for both characters. I was equally as invested in the MMC as I was the FMC - a very rare occurrence for me! Hats off to the author!
The worldbuilding is also magical (pun intended!) From the start I felt as if I'd known the Isles of Palmer all my life, and was walking the halls of the Wrathmore Academy. I was pulled in and hooked from the first trauma-filled page! The world of the Darkveined isn't one with a lot of light, their trauma and their pain is as palpable as the pages between your fingertips, so there were definitely times where I had to step away to process and unburden, and then return later to continue navigating the harrowing backstories and history - but it is well worth taking the time to do this and continue. They always say you should write what you know, and having created such a vivid world of sadness and despair, I can only hope for the author's sake that this isn't the case with Beneath Our Veins!
An absolute must read, and I cannot wait to get my hands on book two!

I really enjoyed reading Beneath our Veins, after seeing it advertised on Tiktok I was excited to read it. It was an easy read with twists and turns everywhere. From the moment the book starts things are happening so if you like books to get straight into things, this story will definitely suit you.
Found Family is one of my favourite tropes and this book did not disappoint, I only wish we got more time with the FMC and her friends to help deepen the connections between them. However, heart break definitely came my way towards the end, I was not expecting it at all!!
If like me, you like a slow burn then this is for you because this is so slow it's glacial but in the best, most betraying way. Multiple times I was cursing at the MMC for his dumb decisions!

Well I’ve read this book twice now after being trusted as a Beta reader and I just want to say how incredible the magic system is in this book! I’ve not read anything similar to this before in terms of how magic is obtained and I loved the entire concept.
Twists and turns happen a lot throughout the book, and the author is correct when she says there will be a moment when you hate every character in this book. Whether it’s because of the bad decisions they make, the way they act or just the pure evil they radiate.
The author is also an absolute angel and has worked so hard to bring this to life!

This was such an interesting concept of fantasy x dark academia and I loved how plot driven this was. I love how we weren’t just focused on the main characters even the side characters had important roles to play!
I literally have binged this in a day and it felt like no time at all it kept me engaged and guessing the different plot twists.
Looking forward to book 2 of the trilogy!

I watched Emily’s journey writing this book and I loved being one of her ARC readers🫶🏻 This is one of the most original fantasy novels I’ve read so far. Zoelle’s story burned a hole through my heart, as well as Alaric, Fi and others🥺 The romance subplot had a very nice evolution, although I DID NOT APPRECIATE THE ENDING, Em!! This is a great debut novel, Emily really takes on the job of writing a fantasy and puts her own twist on it.
The twists and turns keep you hooked and wanting to know how the full story is going to play out. I can’t wait for the next instalments.
Zoelle and Ezra are great main characters, as are the side characters. The trauma they have all been through to get to where they are and how much more they are likely going to have to go through is immense.

Wow! This book…… it had me hooked from the very first page. This was my first ARC I’ve ever received and oh my goodness I am so grateful. It was honestly amazing. I really enjoyed this book. The magic system was different and although I would have liked a little more information about it, I thought it was great. Although the ending felt a little rushed and it had quite a few spelling/grammatical errors (maybe because it was an ARC), it was a really great book to read and I cannot wait for the next one! This was an amazing read! I devoured in in less than a day, it was so immersive and the magic system is like nothing I have ever seen or read about anywhere! The heartbreak that this book had me feeling was unbelievable, this book will draw you in immediately! I would definitely recommend!

I loved this book. The characters and their development was amazing. The plot was unexpected but in a sense that I didn't think in that direction.

Oh wow! I honestly was not expecting THAT! Firstly for this ladys first ever book…this was INCREDIBLE! The plot was fast paced for a fantasy which was honestly so nice! The twist was great! I genuinely really loved this book! I cannot wait for the next part, i had goosebumps reading that last 15% and i NEED to know what happens next immediately!
There is romance within this book but i am so happy to see it didn’t take centre stage over the plot! Also love the fact it was relatable about its wording over family and friends! The way the scenes are described was perfect for my imagination to really build this world within my head and was so easy to fall in love with both the world and the characters!
So proud of the author for this amazing piece of work! i cannot wait for the next!
