Wings of Pixie Hollow #2

✨Plot✨
Periwinkle is a frost fairy in the winter woods. When she makes a mysterious discovery she suddenly starts dreaming. But fairy's don't dream so how is she? She meets the mysterious Weaver who also dreams and claims to be the last dream weaver fairy. He shows her that the pixie dust tree is beginning to rot and the only way to fix it is to use her good dreams to heal it.
As they go on adventures across the winter woods and grow closer, Periwinkle begins to wonder if Weaver is really as icy as he seems.
✨Characters✨
❄️Periwinkle❄️
I loved how social she is in this story and its like the opposite of Queen Clarion in the first book. She is fun, spunky and hilarious! I really related to being such people pleaser and I hope we get cameos of her in the future books!
🪡Weaver🪡
He was really sweet and I really enjoyed getting to learn about the weaving talent and all the stuff he did! He was kind of broody and annoying at times but what fantasy mmc is not, am I right?
✨Romance✨
So cute and wholesome. I am a bit confused by the ending but don't worry I won't spoil it for you.
✨Writing Style✨
Beautiful! I honestly liked this writing better than the first book! The only reason its not a five star is that it was slow at times. I adored this book though!
✨⚔️Action⚔️✨
I loved all the action towards the end and in the dreams! I was hooked and I'm so thankful for this ARC!
✨Magic System✨
The nightmares and dreams were so cool and Legs was the best pet ever. I was really interested by all the talents and learning more about them and I'm so glad we got to hear more about them!!
✨Would I Recommend It?✨
YES!! If you love Tinkerbell read this! I know some people didn't read Wings Of Starlight because of some content but don't worry this one doesn't have any of that🫶 READ THIS!!!

⌗ ꒰ my thoughts ꒱ ✨
⤷ guys.. i had such a blast with this one!! even though it didn't hit as hard with milori and clarion, i had to give it a 4 <3 my fav things abt this book was being in the winter realm again and seeing what periwinkle was up to! the plot twist was lowkey so scary. but worth it in the end! our MMC, weaver, was such a sweetie, although moody at times 😭 i loved him. their dynamic together was amazing, and if we get another book for pixie hollow i'd love to see a cameo!
overall i highly recommend checking out these books. especially because disney has many more fairytale reimaginings coming soon for books 🥹🙂↕️ until the next one! and thank you underlined for this beautiful arc <3 OUT NOW!!!

every second of this book felt magical. stepping back into the world of pixie hollow once again was so much fun!! this is one of my favorite fictional worlds and i loved exploring more of winter! i fell in love with periwinkle and weaver, their banter together was so witty and fun!! overall, the plot had me completely hooked and, unlike wings of starlight, i had no idea how this book would end!! i’m definitely going to go rewatch secret of the wings again (for the millionth time) with an entirely new perspective! i’m so excited for everyone to read this book and hear everyone’s thoughts :)
and lastly, i would like to thank random house/disney for sending me a beautiful arc package of this book!! i will truly keep the box and the goodies forever, even the confetti packaging 🩵

“you’re absolutely terrible,” she said. but she smiled up at him as she said it. “and you,” he said, “are a dream come true.”
3.75⭐️ !! this was sooo cute but i’m lowkey pissed
periwinkle has always been one of my favorite fairies, and i’ve always wanted to know more about her and the winter forest. so when i saw that her book was coming i was ecstatic.
but sadly i’m a little disappointed.
i understand that is meant for a younger audience, but the first book was amazing, we got yearning and a actual love story, and i felt like we didn’t get it with this one.
this might be spoilers !!!!!!!!
i had a fun time, and they were actually really cute, i loved how he called her sparkles and their banter. but we really didn’t get to see them as an actual couple?? it felt so inconclusive. also, the whole plot twist or whatever and what weaver did, it was so predictable, and in the end it was all for absolutely nothing !! no like i was so pissed.
it had sooo much potential i’m sick. like the concept was good, but i kinda hated how it turned out by the end, it was so unnecessary honestly.
but i still had a good time and i’m excited to see which character is next !!!!

Thoughts
I love this world so much 🥹 I think I enjoyed the plot in this book a tad more than the first book. I was hooked from the getgo, the banter between the characters; overall just witty and fun. You know when you pick up something that you used to love growing up and still find yourself getting lost into it as an adult? That's exactly what these books feel like! Super cute!
Plot Summary
When frost fairy Periwinkle discovers lost magic near the border of the Winter Woods, she begins having strange dreams that predict the destruction of Pixie Hollow’s Pixie Dust Tree. She soon meets Weaver, a mysterious dream-talent who believes her dreams could help save it. Together they set off through the Winter Woods to find a magical spindle and scissors, but as Periwinkle’s dreams become darker she begins to question what she can trust; including Weaver.

Is it too much to ask to take up residency in Pixie Hollow? 🧚
After reading ‘Wings of Starlight’, I have so excited to be fully immersed in the dazzling world of Pixie Hollow once more.
Centuries later, Bright takes us on a whimsical journey, as a forest fairy, to discover a thread of lost, and potentially dangerous, magic in order to save their home and the Pixie Dust Tree 🌳🧚✨
As Periwinkle makes a discovery in the Winter Woods, she suddenly starts dreaming. But fairy’s don’t dream…slowly her sweet dreams morph into nightmares that begin to rot the Tree. That’s when the mysterious Weaver shows up. He knows about her dreams and claims to be the last dream-talent, the only one who can spin her dream-thread, and save the Tree. As they embark on adventures across the Winter Woods, they face obstacles, monsters, and an unspeakable danger. And somewhere along the way, Periwinkle begins to wonder if this infuriatingly handsome stranger is as icy as he seems…
"Periwinkle was pretty well used to threading the gaps in the rules that governed life in Pixie Hollow. But the adventure she found—there at the heart of the dream magic, at the end of the thread—was a rare and sparkling one, indeed." 💖 ✨
Honestly, I could read about Pixie Hollow all day and be quite content. This book has such a wholesome magical vibe that never lets up. The detail is exquisite, everything from the landscape, to the food, creatures, and fairy life; it is all so beautifully captured. It does read more like a YA/teenage book than Wings of Starlight but knowing that you can adjust your expectations of the narrative. It is by no means lacking in any way, it is just written differently. And I actually found it really refreshing and relaxing 😌
Periwinkle was such a fun FMC. I loved she was seen in two different lights: on the surface, everyone saw her as popular and pretty, but there was actually so much depth to her character. She was fun and witty, very social and a people pleaser. But she was incredibly kind, forgiving, and passionate about magic. She is the definition of a believer.
"Periwinkle had a choice: to let her dreams win, or her night-mares. To trust the truth of the web and needle and thread, or let the lie of the rot fill her heart. She could choose to believe in the dream magic, or her own terrible doubts. She didn’t understand where her dreams had been leading her. But they had never let her down. So Periwinkle did as she always did. Periwinkle chose magic." ✨
Weaver brought the grumpy to Peri’s sunshine…he was your typical darker broody MMC. But he was also very sweet, and incredibly witty. I loved that we got glimpses of his POV, especially in the last section of the story. It was heartbreaking to see how he once viewed the world, and himself, but as a character he went through a lot of growth, and I was so proud and happy for him by the end. Peri definitely put a light in this mans dark world, reliving him of his pain and loneliness, and he became so much more loveable for it. Sometimes we just need someone to believe in us 🥲
“The second I let you show me who you were, you won me over, like you do everyone else.” 🥹
The grumpy x sunshine dynamic between Weaver and Periwinkle was perfect for this story. The romance aspect of the plot was always there but it was light and filled with teasing and banter. It was so heartwarming seeing how they both transformed under the support of each other. Weaver’s cynical cold-heart was thawed by Peri’s hope and trust. Meanwhile, Weaver helped Peri to see how much she had to offer the world and allowed her curiosity and personality to develop; ultimately she learnt that she could be more than just one thing.
My favourite thing about this story was the profound message of unwavering love and kindness. To look past the hurt and into the heart. Hurt people, hurt people but it doesn’t mean they don’t deserve kindness. The hurt cycle must stop with someone and this book demonstrated that with so much grace and tenderness 🥰
"And nothing—not magic, or the truth, or love, or the chance to choose kindness—was ever truly lost." 💖
Overall, this was an incredibly enjoyable read. I loved the world-building and learning about the Winter side to Pixie Hollow. Anna did a fantastic job at portraying the idea of fairy dream-talents, incorporating them solidly into the plot. I appreciated the cameos from Lord Milori and Queen Clarion from the first book. And quite honestly, I just wanted the book to last forever, I could quite happily read another 100+ pages right now. I am sat for book three 🙇🏻♀️

🎶 A friend to all ; is a friend to none 🎶
« but even in the worst of her nightmares, there was always that hand reaching out for hers. That spark of - something. Too firmly planted for even the harshest wind to move. Too bright for even the darkest night to smother. » ❤️🔥
I’m afraid I would’ve been completely useless in this setting because of the spiders
Lord Milori was really off in this one.
I don’t want to say anything because I think it’s the kind of series where it’s just better to go in blind. The only thing I’ll say though is that I don’t think I would’ve been able to forgive. It’s probably because it’s deeper for me honestly because no one felt the way I did in the reviews. It’s a wound I’ve carried around my whole life tbh so that would’ve been unforgivable for me

I wanted to like this
I was so excited for this books release after I ADORED Wings of Starlight and ranked it in my top 3 fav books of 2025. Wings of Reverie felt like a dumbed down version of pixie hollow books filled with tropes and full of loose ends. Periwinkle in the film (Secret of the Wings) has such a unique personality that I felt was not articulated in this book at all. She felt poorly written and it was incredibly disappointing. Weaver, the MMC is every morally grey, grumpy sunshine trope man mixed into one. It’s been overdone and it’s boring. I also really disliked the “twist” at the end. It was all incredibly predictable. I would have really enjoyed more info on the dream talents, why they were lost and why they were suddenly returning! This book had a lot of promise and just lacked the depth to really deliver anything of substance.

This book was, to no one’s surprise, an absolute hit for me and is easily one of my favorite books of the year. It was everything I was hoping it would be. I loved getting to know Periwinkle on a deeper level, and you could really tell that she was putting in the effort to change for the better. I loved her in the movie, and I loved her even more in her own book. I didn’t mind Weaver. I thought at times he was too mean, but I came to understand why. The plot twist was very twisty and definitely surprised me. These Disney Fairies are so special and nostalgic for me, and I really hope they keep coming out with more of these books. I’d 100% recommend this one!

How does this have such a high rating? Did we not read the same book??
The contents of this book happen after the Wings of Starlight novel but before the Secret of the Wings movie. While Wings of Starlight contained the same whimsy as the original Pixie Hollow books/movies, Wings of Reverie just did not. Wings of Starlight also had far better writing despite the intended audience and far better written characters with more depth and personality. The characters in Wings of Reverie felt like shells of who they were supposed to be, had flat personalities, and cringey characteristics that did not fit with the universe of PH. The story had so much potential but was not fulfilling at all. You can rewrite chapters 22 onwards and make a far better book. The ending was just atrocious.
What made Wings of Starlight a far better book in the romance aspect is that Disney had already explored the relationship between its main characters in the movies whereas in Wings of Reverie, the romance is completely new and forced. I know I was not the intended audience for this book but considering who their target audience is, I am not so sure that the message they are delivering with the relationship between Weaver and Periwinkle is a good example for middle grade to young teenagers.
The cute little weaver spider was the best part of this book. I want a cute little spider living in my pockets coming out at night to steal my nightmares making them into little spools of thread. 🕷️
In a nutshell, this was a badly-written YA romantasy story which happened to use the Disney PH fairies as inspiration for the story which is a shame as it is considered canon.
I can’t believe I forced myself to read this through to the end…a YA romantasy at that…(·•᷄ࡇ•᷅ )
I need a palette cleanser.

c8 are you proud of me for getting through a badly written YA romantasy? Never again.

10 year old me would have eaten this up, 25 year old me wanted to bash my head into a wall.
Also just to get on my soap box real quick. To all the young girls reading this book, just know that safety ≠ boring, excitement ≠ love, and it does not matter how smart, pretty, funny, or perfect you are, YOU CANNOT FIX HIM. This book will try to convince you that the sweet, stable, adoring guy is boring while the dark, brooding, manipulative guy is fun and exciting, DO NOT LISTEN. Okay I’m done now, just wanted to make sure that we were all on the same page.

I did not have the strength to get past the third chapter. My breaking point was when that dream motherfucker called Periwinkle "Sparkles." WHY? They ALL SPARKLE. Because of the PIXIE DUST. That was so dumb and forced, I could not go on.

This was incredibly charming and cozy.
I came for the marvellous Anna Bright, not for Pixie Hollow, but not being familiar with the lore didn’t take away from how sweet and entertaining this book is.
Basically, I came for Anna, stayed for the magical textiles. A MMC who weaves and designs a dress for the FMC? I mean look, Henry Tilney has always been my favourite Austen man because he knows his muslins, so the loving descriptions of Weaver’s crafting pursuits were always going to by my thing.
Also, for all the wonder and coziness, the endless brunches and frosted tea and dream-thread and opalescent shimmer of it all, Anna does a great job of building and sustaining an underlying hum of suspense.
Unlike most of the YA I pick up these days that feels too hard-edged for the lower end of 12-18, this is determinedly soft and kind. Which also goes for Periwinkle, whose bravery is mainly displayed in her commitment to compassion and believing the best about people. She’s an unashamed girl’s girl and I love that!
(I personally would have loved maybe one more resolution scene with a bit more compensation made towards the whole community after a particular twist, but maybe that’s not on-brand for Pixie Hollow.)
Honestly, I struggled with how to rate this in stars, because I’m not the target audience Pixie Hollow fan to be kicking my feet at the lore and cameos, but I think this book delivered exactly the innocent, magical frosty treat it promised, and I hope Anna gets all the Disney Princess treatment because of it.

I've never written a review on Goodreads before but this book has frustrated me so much I feel like I have to now.
I wanted to like this book. I thoroughly enjoyed the first one in the series and I'm a massive pixie hollow enthusiast so believe me I wanted to like this book. But I couldn't.
All of the pre-existing characters in the franchise, especially Peri, feel so mischaracterized and flattened it's a shame.
While I was annoyed time and time again throughout the book because of the intense two dimensional and overplayed romantasy golden retriever × black cat dynamic with no real development my frustrations didn't end there! My biggest gripe is when we get the first introduction of any real interesting conflict with Weaver's betrayal but instead of doing anything with that everything is just immediately resolved and barely even addressed! If your situationship forced you to have nightmares so they could use them to trap everyone you know and love in neverending nightmare comas would it take you more than 2 pages to forgive them? It's such a baffling let down that lost any redeeming hope I had for the book.
It gets 1 star purely for the references to weaving tools and techniques that as a hand weaver were fun little treats for me if nothing else.

I was so excited to read this book considering that wings of starlight was my favourite read of last year however it majorly disappointed me. I felt that it lacked a consistent plot, every plot point felt very rushed and almost inconsistent. I felt that every time something dramatic happened it got resolved too quickly and I hated that Peri forgave Weaver so quickly and then decided to date him…. It felt like all of her character development went down the drain. Sadly disappointed

this is SUCH DISAPPOINTING BULLSHIT.
they put Christian-coded "everything is forgivable" and the male love interest doesn't need to take accountability for a fucking terrorist attack because he had big sad waaa waaa bullshit in my fairy book and i HEAVILY REGRET the 12.99€ i spent on this book.
they made my Peri a manic pixie dream girl "just gotta convince him to see the wonder and magic" flat, bland "popular girl" so they could make Weaver a "cynic" and have her fix him. AND FORGIVE HIM BARELY TWO PAGES AFTER A MASSIVE FUCKING TRAUMATIC BETRAYAL???
but honestly, it all made sense when i read the acknowledgments. the bad writing, the shit solution to Weaver's betrayal, the cop-out-ass return of "dead" Selene, the unhealthy stable is boring but exciting and dangerous MUST BE LOVE!!! not to mention the "forgiveness is always an option" message. this REEKS of typical uncreative organised christianity.
all the 1-3 reviews about this book are right. the pretty prose doesn't save the flat, ooc (out of character) writing and straight up bullshit/illogical plotline. i would never forgive Weaver.
trapping (almost) everyone Peri knew and loved in nightmares created from nightmares that he GAVE TO HER and then collected FROM HER during an entire week of lying and manipulating her and causing her to believe her world was in danger of actual apocalyptic levels of destruction in order to make all the fairies understand the grief of losing Selene and get back at them bc they didn't "try hard enough" to rescue her??? THAT'S RELATIONSHIP ENDING TYPE SHIT!!!
oh but eeeEEeeeEEEVERYTHING IS OKAYYY HE WAS BIG SAD :((( she can forgive him bc he realised it was wrong and was even bigger sad AFTERWARDS 🥺🥺
and DOUGAL?? bro was spitting acid at Lord Milori the entire book, then actually punched him, bitter til the end, but the moment Selene returns, this guy is like "i'm no longer bitter!!! i've seen the error of my ways!!!" what???
there are sooo many things i could rant about, but it's actually exhausting being a hater for something that i wanted to love. but i can't *not* hate this. this book should not have been written. i do not accept it into my Pixie Hollow canon.
the only reason this isn't a single star is because i'm a slut for pretty words, and the author used a lot of them 😭 even though i actually have a problem with some of the descriptions as well 😭😭 should i just make this a one-star review?? i definitely ranted with violent passion to my partner about this book long enough... yeah okay, i'm a hater all the way. one star it is.

3.5⭐️
Periwinkle is one of my favourites and i was super excited to read this (even though i haven’t physically or emotionally moved on from Wings of Starlight), but this sadly turned out to be a letdown (i think i’m being generous with my rating too oof).
Wings of Starlight was a full 5-star read without a doubt. Allison’s writing has always been super whimsical, and she captured the essence of the movies so well that it genuinely felt like watching them. however, everything about this book felt forced (Pixie Hollow stories have a very unique magic to them but it wasn’t present in this book), and i kept having to force myself to imagine what was happening too rather than it automatically playing out in my head.
the characters felt flat too (Periwinkle didn’t entirely sound like the character we met in the movies), and Weaver was a contradictory character as well. (also why did he pick Sparkles as her nickname 😭 he is NOT the type of person to be giving people nicknames, but even if he had to… Sparkles? i’d name a moody grey cat Sparkles. why not Twinkle instead? there’s winkle in her name, plus it sounds like Tinker likeee just anything but Sparkles. it sounded so awkward every time he called her that)
Milori sounded off too… Dewey was the only character who felt like himself from the movies (Feat notes detail was funny). but anyways, this whole book gave me the feeling that something big was missing (the Pixie Hollow magic). the actual plot also turned out to be mehh. and i wish her friends had been part of the story… the whole friend group is so cool and cute, and they were the only other people who could’ve provided some anchor, but they were absent from the story.
i am so saddddddddd (but it was cute ig)
(anyways Disney, if you need author recommendations for future Pixie Hollow books: Olivia Atwater, Adalyn Grace, Stephanie Garber, and Heather Fawcett are some of many)

This was extremely disappointing. I absolutely loved Wings of Starlight, and I know this is a different author, but I really didn’t expect this to feel so different. The Periwinkle in this book doesn’t feel like the Periwinkle from Secret of the Wings AT ALL. I didn’t care for the love interest. I found him to be rude, annoying and I still don’t understand why they had so much hostility towards each other from the moment they met. This also didn’t feel like the Pixie Hollow I know and love! It should feel whimsical, magical and otherworldly, but there were so many moments where you get ripped out of the story because it uses such human words/phrases and misses the creativity of the fairy slang we usually see in this world. So sad this one didn’t work for me!

August 4, 2026Happy book birthday to WINGS OF REVERIE!
Congratulations to the beautiful, sparkly Anna Bright who's got me reading a Disney tie-in novel for the first time ever. But WINGS OF REVERIE is LOVERLY.
Periwinkle is a winter fairy who's suddenly begun dreaming - and not all her dreams are good ones. Something's rotten in the magical world of Pixie Hollow, and the mysterious Weaver seems to hold the answers. To save their world they'll have to embark on a quest for the lost fairy art of dream-magic...but there are nightmares along the way, as well as dreams...
This was a very cosy, sweet book that - unlike a lot of YA - I would quickly recommend to any teen, especially those that like cute animals, pretty dresses, swoony romance, and straightforward friendships. But Anna's not about to give you diabetes. For one thing, there's an epic betrayal late in the book that left even me, a connoisseur of fine backstabbery, gasping. For another, the sweetness and light in this story isn't superficial or facile. Anna's magic, as always, is Deep Magic - numinous, powerful, and always capable of bringing me to tears.
My goddaughters are going to love this one!
