Echoes of Fire is the kind of series opener that makes you want to immediately buy the next book before you've even finished the last page. The world is rich and even though its based on existing myths, it rewrites them beautifully! The Selenian mythology, the Healers and Knights, the Shadow War backstory, it all fits together with a coherence that most fantasy series take two or three books to establish. I love that I know the mechanics of this world and the stakes from book 1 and won't have to read the second book (once it's out) having basic questions.
The central romance is amazing since it has genuine history, real obstacles, and a resolution that feels earned rather than convenient. For me, what sets this apart from other books of the same genre is the villain. Endymion isn't evil for the sake of it. He has a damn good reason for what he's started. He makes arguments that Amy can't fully refute and that made me genuinely uncomfortable about who I was rooting for at points. This has rarely happened to me before and it's what makes this book memorable. Not to mention the showdown with Amy and Arena!! Cannot wait for Cruel Chase.

I don't usually pick up paranormal romance books, but Echoes of Fire truly surprised me.
I came for the wolves, magic, and ancient lore, and not only did I stay, I'm going to read it again. The main relationship of Tiber Privon and Amy Lasner isn't an instant romance. It feels like two people carrying years of pain, loyalty, and secrets they don't even fully understand before the second part of the book. Watching their memories slowly unravel alongside the mystery kept me hooked.
The worldbuilding was probably my favorite part. The Selenians, the Shadow War, the different supernatural races, and the mythology around them was also well-established. There are a lot of moving pieces, but they come together as the story progresses.
Tiber ended up being my favorite character. He's powerful, but most of his struggle comes from guilt and the pressure of protecting everyone around him. Amy isn't just there to be rescued either, but she has her own strength and story, and once she begins awakening, everything really takes off.
If you like fantasy with werewolves, dragons, ancient magic, soulmates, and a plot that keeps revealing bigger secrets, this is worth checking out. It definitely feels like the beginning of a much larger series, and I'm curious to see where the story goes next.

I'll be honest, I almost didn't finish the first few chapters because I thought I knew exactly where it was going. Oh boy I was wrong. Echoes of Fire takes familiar genre elements like Lycans, fated mates, the chosen one mythology, and does something genuinely interesting with them. The female protagonist Amy is one of the most well-built heroines I've read in this genre. She isn't just powerful but she's also really smart. The interrogation scene in the later chapters, my favorite, is extraordinary. She doesn't use her powers once. She just talks, and it's excellent! The love interest Tiber is complex in ways that sneak up on you since he has real flaws, he gets called out for them, and his arc is meaningful. The worldbuilding surrounding the Shadow War and the Healers is original and internally consistent. I'll be recommending this one for a while.

Congratulations to the author! I can't wait for the second book.

Well, I was not prepared for this book...

I picked this up on a whim and did not sleep until I finished it (even though i now found the time to leave a review). The romance between Amy and Tiber is everything. Five years of separation, a whole mythology about past lives and soulmates, and somehow this book still makes me feel emotional. Their relationship is the REAL deal. When they finally get their moments together I genuinely held my breath. The found family aspect hit me harder than I expected since Elina, Mike, Bill, and Luke are such good characters and I loved every scene they shared. The world building is rich without being overwhelming, the villain actually has a coherent philosophy that made me uncomfortable in the best way possible, and the epilogue set up Book Two perfectly.
I have to come to terms with the fact that Loren Xhaul is going to destroy me and I am ready.

I finished this at 1am and immediately started recommending it to people. I mean what do you want from me? Τhis book has everything I love. A couple that is both complicated and enviable. A mythology that actually makes internal sense. A villain with a genuinely compelling argument that made me question myself with how much I understood him. A female protagonist who is allowed to be brilliant and strategic and emotionally complicated without being adamantly restricted for any of it. A found family that I would die for (this group of people is hilarious even during tense moments). An epilogue that shifted focus to the secondary character who is clearly going to carry the next book and made me immediately desperate to read it. I have been recommending Echoes of Fire to everyone in my reading group and I will not stop until they all read it. Please, please write faster, I need the second book.
