DK is consistently wonderful, and this is no exception. Great photographs (the close-up of the butterfly's scales is worth the read all by itself!) with a pleasant little first-person story featuring a butterfly and its life cycle. Interesting facts (like the fact that the caterpillar eats its own skin...) are interspersed and will appeal to kids looking to learn a little more about these amazing creatures.
This was very informative and told from the first person perspective of a butterfly, yet nonfiction detailed. The smaller size is perfect for early elementary holding alone and the text is very readable in an early reading level. We read this as well as several others while studying and growing our own painted lady butterflies!
This was an amazing book for the beginner reader to get a full understanding of the life cycle of the Butterfly. From egg to a beautiful Swallowtail this book has it all. Wonderful photography with bold and easy to read text. Bye bye, I'm off in a flutter!
Life cycle including mating of a swallowtail (most pictures are eastern tiger but the larval plants described are the black swallowtail). Greta up close detailed pictures show the day to day changes in the life cycle. (DK 2003)
It's an ideal book for the children who want to improve their English reading skills. Also, this book is a good source for getting information about butterfly and its evolution period.
