Microsoft Operations Manager 2005 Unleashed With a Preview of Operations Manager 2007

Rate this book
Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) has quickly become the premier tool for monitoring Windows-based servers and networks, and it is a key piece of the Windows Server System. While MOM is a powerful tool, it is not a piece of software that one an simply install and have working instantly. A successful implementation of MOM involves planning, design, and an understanding of how to utilize its management packs. Until now there was very little information beyond the online documentation to guide IT Pros in their use of MOM. At the last several Microsoft TechEd conferences MOM has been one of the most popular topics. MOM 2005 Unleashed will be the most complete source of information available anywhere to IT Pros on deplying, managing, and administering MOM. The accompanying CD is packed with tools for administering MOM, most of them created specifically for this book. The authors conclude with a look ahead at the next version, which will be so different that Microsoft has changed the name of the product to System Center Operations Manager. While that is due out in the first quarter of 2007, we expect the adoption of it to be quite slow, allowing a longer shelf life for this book.
