Jack and Clara fall in love slowly and carefully. Jack hasn't been in a romantic relationship for quite a while but falls for Clara who is new to town to run the lighthouse. Jack and Clara spend quite a bit of time together at the lighthouse working on a mystery of sorts after Clara finds some letters in behind a shelf. They go around town talking to different people that know of settlers to Seagull Bay from years before. After spending all this time together people in town are talking and gossiping about them, as the town is so small and everybody knows everything that is going on in each others lives. Jack gets called out on an emergency while at the lighthouse with Clara, and he and Clara leave things in a bad way. Things are left strange between them, so Jack decided to send Clara some flowers and he asks her on a proper date. The whole town is taking! Jack takes Clara out on Scott's boat so she can see the town and the lighthouse all lit up. Clara is so excited. They finally kiss and Jack is over the moon. The second open house is held for the lighthouse and it goes off very smoothly. Jack and Clara go for the first time to church together and has the whole town talking. They are so happy and in love. What a wonderful story. I highly recommend it!.

The story follows Jack, a dependable local lifeboat crew member dedicated to his routine, and Clara, who has arrived in Seagull Bay to care for the old lighthouse in search of a fresh start and independence. Their paths cross when Clara discovers a hidden, faded letter inside the lighthouse detailing a long-buried historical love story. As Jack helps her uncover the local secrets behind the mystery, their shared time leads to unexpected confessions, forcing them both to overcome past reservations and open their hearts to a new beginning.
