This is a very sexy book with a slow, salacious tease that keeps building throughout each chapter. I love the relationship buildup between the loving wife Ashley and the arrogant and brash tenant, Devin.
At first, she's resentful about Devin's intrusion into their life, but has to battle some inner turmoil, her body betraying her whenever he is near.
Caught on the sidelines is her husband, James, who is finding out things about himself as he listens through the thin walls.
A very lustful book that keeps building sexual tension right to the end. Sydney is a great writer. Well done.

A Familiar Premise, Turned On It's Head.
Another great book from this new author. When I first saw the title, I thought, Oh boy, here we go again. I’ve read this story a dozen times. But I couldn’t have been more wrong. A familiar theme that's not familiar at all. The author breaks the mold in this one.
Ms Collins turns the familiar premise completely on its head. The first three-quarters of the book is an exercise in tease and titillation taken to the nth degree—highly erotic without ever feeling repetitive. The conclusion is both satisfying and refreshingly different from what you’d normally expect in this genre.
Once again, this author excels at delivering creative, imaginative eroticism with just the right amount of angst. Best of all, there’s no cheating, no humiliation, and no reliance on the tired tropes that so often dominate these stories. And for my taste, a strong bond of love and respect between the married couple. Oh yeah, the bull was kind of a neat interesting guy too. You really should give this author a try.

Ashley and James have been married for three years, they have bought a house but now they are in financial difficulties. The decision is made to look for a lodger to occupy the 2nd bedroom, in this book he is described as a roommate but to me that means someone who shares a bedroom in a communal building so I prefer lodger.
They pick Devin as he is polite and prepared to make a down payment for 3 months. He turns out to be a very attractive black man who has a number of habits that seriously annoy Ashley. What also annoys her is that she is attracted to him and realises that this is mutual.
Further problems arise when James looses his job and Devin steps up to cover the mortgage payments if Ashley shares his bed for 3 nights a week, with no touching.
This is the set up for the slow burn as the attraction leads to frustration for Ashley and the no touch rule is gradually tested.
The characters work, the build to the story works, James comes to acknowledge that it is all leading to a serious improvement to the sex between him and Ashley. The gradual nature of the changes seems so much better that other stories in this genre which would have leapt into full on sex at an early stage.
The book is mostly written in the 1st person from Ashley's point of view but we also get the occasional chapter from James's perspective and that makes for a good diversion.

It’s a hot summer, James and Ashley are strapped by their bills, and the A/Cs broken. Renting out their spare bedroom is the only way to make ends meet. Large, dark, and imposing, Devin is the best of the applicants, but that doesn’t mean they’re home free…
Told from Ashley’s point of view, this story felt like something fresh. I’ve never read a hotwife story where the hotwife to be had such a negative reaction to her future bull. Ashley’s internal struggle between her emotional reactions to Devin and her body’s pull towards him really amped up the tension. I enjoyed the slow-burn as Devin takes down Ashley’s wall of defenses one brick at a time. Meanwhile James’ need builds as he grapples with the see-saw between angst and desire. And let’s not forget the heat—that ever-present, driving heat. It was nearly a character itself.
When Ashley finally gives herself over to Devin, it is pure fire and it spills across all three of them. James and Ashley will never be the same. They’ve discovered things about themselves and their marriage, and nobody wants to put that genie back in the bottle.
Sydney Collins has delivered a story I would best describe as slow-burn meets enemies to lovers meets hotwife, and it all works together superbly. This is the first book of hers I’ve read, but it won’t be the last.

Ok,.. I love it, but I must say,, up front,,.
Ms Collins is One……Twisted…….Horny……Nasty……..Bitch.
Ive read thousands of seductions… but never one like this. AND IT’S BELIEVABLE!!!!!! (which is unusual in over half of them)
She created a couple, Ashley and James. Then put them in a situation where they need a roommate to make the budget. Now enter Devin.
Ashley hates him, part of her hatred is based on his incredible attraction. Just looking at him makes her wet. The internal conflict is both real and hilarious. James doesn’t have a clue. Orrrr maybe he’s got an inkling, but no idea of the intensity.
Ashley’s fatal flaw is her ego. The reader can see it in advance, but not her. Her arrogance is funny, We readers can see the fly-swatter,.. Ashley, the little fly, is doomed by her own hubris.
This book is a page turner. Very, Very, hard to put down!
It sits in a gray area somewhere between Hotwife, and Cuckold. And it’s beautifully told.

She tells this story, mostly from Ashley’s POV. There are occasional sections from James. But we see inside both minds and there is very little that’s deceptive or conniving. Both spouses intentions are honorable, and clear.

I love the characters, the storyline, the dialogue, the humor, and the heat,….. oh, yeah,, the HEAT.
I’m NOT happy with the stars,,,,, I can only give it five,...…If I could, it would get ten.

James has a great plan. It involves renting out their spare bedroom to help make ends meet financially. As a result, Ashley has some issues with their new roommate. At the beginning, she can not stand him. So, when Devin made a tremendous offer about the rent, Ashley wasn't too pleased. Now this offer is one that more than saves the day. And it has James really considering things. Then came the bet.
