I read the ARC e-book of Bride of the Crocodile: The Gods of Patmos Trilogy by Min Jae Rivers and truly enjoyed it. The world-building was exquisite; I could easily picture and hear the sounds of this island setting. There is a sense of mystery from the very beginning, which kept me engaged to the very end. The FMC, Arsine, has her life on the island all planned out for her: what she does for a living and who she is to marry. She is not happy with that. Then a ship with a mystery on board comes to the island. This is where an ancient god whose name is Sobek comes into the story. There is a connection between Sobek and Arsine, they find peace in each other. The relationship that develops is very sweet and I found it soothing. There were twists to the story that kept me reading; I had to find out what happened between the two of them. After reading much longer books lately, I found this short read just what I needed to cleanse my palate. I anxiously await book 2 following the jaw-dropper of an ending in this first book of The Gods of Patmos Trilogy.
