Rate this book
From award-winning author Gail Combs Oglesby comes the stirring conclusion to the Centenary Chronicles.

Four Women. Four Generations. One Enduring Legacy.

Ohio, 1900.

At fifteen, Louise believes she knows what her future love, marriage, and a quiet life in the small Ohio town she has always called home. Then one heartbreaking season changes everything.

Faced with devastating loss, Louise must find a strength she never knew she possessed. When her family's future rests in her hands, she enters a world where few believe a young woman belongs. Determined to honor the legacy that came before her, she challenges expectations, earns the trust of her neighbors, and discovers that the life she once imagined may not be the life she was meant to lead.

As a new century dawns, Louise learns that a legacy is measured not simply in wealth or power, but in the lives we touch and the choices we make. Though love can be lost, hope can emerge in the most unexpected places.

The moving conclusion to the Centenary Chronicles, The Ledger She Keeps is a richly detailed historical novel about family, resilience, and a woman finding her place in a changing world.

What a satisfying end to a wonderful series. It pains me to know this is the last book but at the same time I feel like it's been such a great journey. I grew to love all these women and Louise especially resonated with me. The author just seems to have such a natural story-telling style that draws you in, you come to care so much about these women and how their lives evolve. I appreciate too that her books are set in places I can identify with and with experiences my own ancestors went through. Even though the series is over I know she has another book already in the works, can't wait to read it. Highly recommend this book and the whole series.

Thank you to Goodreads and the publisher for providing a complimentary copy to me. The story about the tough situations women faced in the early 1900s with jobs and societal norms was interesting, but the book was a little slow for me.
