A Tortured Soul: The Unauthorized Biography of Nicholas Anderson by C.J. Cassidy

This novel shares an erotic tale about one woman who enlists the help of an older man to escape a lifetime of submissiveness, abuse, and unhappiness by entering into a controlled master-slave relationship.

---
Loosely biographical, this wickedly suggestive and thoroughly sexy novel is a frothy foray of desire that offers a long branch into the subconscious mind of want. Not for the faint of heart, A Tortured Soul: The Unauthorized Biography of Nicholas Anderson introduces the lure of bondage in order to overcome a lifetime of abuse and submissiveness. New erotica author C.J. Cassidy plays both sides of the fence as he doses his characters with pain and heartache before igniting their passions and pleasures. Successful and business savvy Katherine Stark silently suffers an abusive relationship with Johnny Precious, an up-and-coming rapper until an older colleague, Nicholas Anderson, suffuses her imagination and later the landscape of her body with a rare and empowering passion. Through obedience and discipline, Katherine and Nicholas engage in a secret world where everything naughty is possible and no arousing deed will go unpunished, literally and consensually speaking, of course.

Raw and sinfully sexy, A Tortured Soul: The Unauthorized Biography of Nicholas Anderson by new erotica author C.J. Cassidy is exceptionally explicit. Dramatic yet true to life, this novel closely follows the long lines of love and the fires of passion. Writing about sex boldly and without pretense, the author weaves a fascinating tale that is not without intrigue to serve a unique vision of the corporate ladder, mid-management, and just how sexy and fun cubicle-confined lives can be.

When it comes to how business savvy and corporate-ladder-climbing Katherine Stark feels about her fiancé, her feelings could best be described as controlled—as in completely his, not hers. Her soon-to-be-mate Johnny Precious is a moody up-and-coming rapper who has a knack for cruelty and apologies. Caught in a vicious cycle of violence and jealous struggle, it is not until she befriends an older colleague, Nicholas Anderson, that Katherine figures out that she should take back control—and does. Nicholas becomes Katherine’s mentor in an expansive and explosive world of bondage and discipline that opens her eyes to the sort of woman she wants to become, the sort of woman who takes no prisoners and likes her sex very naughty and a little rough. She realizes that in life there must fall a little pain, depending on how much is all up to the one who, in this case, says “when.”

Wonderfully sublime and deliciously naughty, A Tortured Soul: The Unauthorized Biography of Nicholas Anderson by new author C.J. Cassidy is erotica at its finest.

Alluring and empowering, the modern business world’s glass ceiling has never gleamed so bright with want and leisure. Office politics at Faber Data Corporation offers a bevy of bold bedfellows and an arsenal of smoking hot babes that have their eyes on the prize—which is codeword for one colleague’s penchant for unfettered passion and his secret room that happens to help women unleash their secret fetishes and desires.

With no sense of limitation, this novel is not for the faint of heart and examines just how empowering acts of control and bondage can be. Through the lament of life, the patina of passion follows a path of sex, sex, and more sex. With bold streams of consciousness that outline a few new positions—literally and figuratively—readers will take a whole new look at data entry, inter-office dating and double standards. With the help of our dauntless new sexual dynamo Nicolas Anderson, this author has, indeed, brought sexy back.

DNF!

There is no steady narrative.
In one sentence it switches from first person to third person. Then in a blink of an eye it switched from his perspective to her then back again. It’s very hard to follow.

This is the first book I have read by this particular author, and I was very impressed from the start by the sharp dialogue between the characters and the (at times) amusing machinations of modern office politics.
I won't give a description of the story—the author does this very well himself in his blurb—but I will say that he writes two very likeable characters in Nick and Katherine. The sexual chemistry between them is obvious from the start, even though some time elapses before they engage in a sexual relationship.
Nick is a mature, intelligent and ultimately kind man, who recognizes the abuse suffered by Katherine in her relationship with her boyfriend, and aims to rescue her from that abuse in his own unique way.
The book held my attention all the way through—and not just the erotic parts either. Yes, there is bondage and discipline and hot sex, but there is also humour at times, and great insight into the various characters that make up a large organisation. The two main characters are likeable and well-rounded and the author tells their story with skill and sensitivity. I was immensely impressed with the book and look forward to reading more of the trilogy.
Finally I must commend the author for his condemnation of domestic abuse, and how he takes pains to show people that a BDSM lifestyle in no way condones the abuse of participants.

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

This book is not for the faint of heart and its not an easy read. This book is based on the story of a real couple who overcame personal tragedies and workplace torment to find happiness within themselves and each other.

This story dealt with victims of domestic violence. However, the author was very clear that while some participants like pain in a sexual context, abuse is NEVER ok. The characters in the book dealt with the after effects of extreme domestic violence and how that affected their bondage scenes.

If you are wanting a light, throwaway read, this book is not for you If you are wanting a HEA, this book is not for you. If you want a book about real life, a real couple as they work their way through life as it happened, I would give this book a chance.
