Somehow two years have passed since I started this series and here we are now at the conclusion.
This book shocked me, I'm obviously not going to tell you any secrets but if you're reading this series, be warned, two things that I never thought would happen, happened!
I'm so pleased I decided to focus this year on abandoned series books.
Overall I've enjoyed this series, at times it has felt never ending and while I can now wash off the zombie goo, I'm not going to forget these girls in a hurry. Reagan and Haley, the only people I'd want around when the zombies come (I'll bring the make up bag ladies!)
At the time of posting this series is available on Kindle Unlimited.
So sad that it's over!! This has been one of my absolute favorite series and the characters have stuck with me unlike any book I have ever read. I'm so glad she's continuing it from Page's perspective later down the road. It will be weird not having it be in Reagan's voice, but I'm glad I still get to read about this world and what has come of all of the characters. Can't wait to read what's in store for the future!
Well done Rachel, I love your story telling. I have loved this series so much. And now it's ended. I'm not sure I will continue Season 4 from Page's PoV, I kinda got used to Reagan. Time will tell. (I probably won't be able to stop myself either way). This volume made me laugh, there's so many funny moments. This volume made me cry, and I cried hard. (I'm not gonna spoil it). And I wish it was made into a TV series, it would be better than the Walking Dead!
Great ending to this season. Super emotional, a bit of action, and a bit of happiness at the end. I definitely can't wait for the next season in Page's POV.
The last book in a exceptional series- and as the author said in her letter of co-existing in Reagan's head. She is a great freaking character!
What would you find in the series? Action, Zombies, Apocalypse - vaginasaurous!! and the freaking romance. The parker brothers, Cage and the Parker brothers. Sigh.
Before I start my rant about why I hated and simultaneously loved the ending here is a little thing you should know first:
Grishaverse - I was hands down team Darkling! (hated the ending) Shatter me Series - Team Aaron! (So glad that turned out) Harry Potter (Draco and Hermione - as if she would end up with Ron) Twilight - Team Jacob
If your are reading this review you probably get that I am team KANE! Kane, Goodness I know the boy is fictional, but it felt as if I could climb into that damn book and hug him and never let go. He was so well written and his character made me fall in love and break into a thousand pieces when he died. I thought he was perfect for Reagan, a balance between good, bad and broken.
Hendrix although a good character with a lot of depth - he just did give do it for me, I felt a little detached from his character where I bonded with all the other characters from the beginning.
Overall a great series - I loved it so much that I am starting to read a new series by the author.
SOME OF MY FAVORITE REAGAN AND KANE QUOTES He came in like a tsunami of craving need. His mouth met mine with ravenous hunger and explosive lust. His lips weren’t soft; they were dry but perfect, rough but exactly what I needed.
You are the hope in my despair. The light in my darkness. You are air when I am drowning. Goodness when I am nothing but evil. You are the change that will save me.”
“You ran away from me. You stabbed me. You threw me out of a moving car. And now you’ve handed me over to a group of mercenaries who want to kill me. I should hate you as much as you try to hate me.” His voice was whisper soft and his body radiated an intense heat that seemed to sink into my skin, into my bones. “But I can’t. I can’t hate you and you can’t hate me.” “We’re screwed up. There’s something wrong with both of us.”
They are still fighting their way out no matter what situation they are in. Reagan is awesome and seems like a real character. I like her independent nature and they say she is a part of the group. Mexico is hard but it will not beat them.
This is an interesting series. It has humour so things don't get too heavy but at the same time they do loose people and there is violence and killing.
The series is a long one and these main characters stories continue for 3 seasons. There is also a spin off series that deals with the sister later.
There is little intimacy. There is touching, hugging and a few kisses but no sex until much later in the last season. The main 2 characters have love interests but due to the nature of the start of the virus and the constant threat there are no intimate scenes until the end of season 3.
Each season ends on a HFN with an enemy thread running through the whole series. Each episode either ends as HFN with a goal set for the next or at times an immediate threat will run across several episodes. At the time I read these the whole series was on Amazon KU so it was possible to read one after the other or complete in a box set. If you start reading and want to get to a HEA you will need to read the entire 3 seasons. There is the immediate zombie threat which is constant but also the series deals with humanities reaction to survival. Often a bigger threat is the desire for power between the surviving groups and these at times use lack of resources and scientific experimentation to control the main threats. Later in the series there is a love triangle situation of sorts for the heroine. It's not exactly a love triangle but there is a dividing force between the main couple due to the interest from another man. There are no intimate details but there is a kissing scene with the other man, but at the time the main couple are not together. The characters are all very different, they have their flaws but they are college age so when they make mistakes and sometimes they are stupid ones I put it down to youth and although they have learnt survival through experience the threat is constant so it's not easy for them to be sensible all the time. There is a good bit of banter between the group and a great deal of humour. There are some serious issues dealt with too and the main human enemy threat is pretty evil.

Definitely not the disappointing ending that I was expecting to such a good series. Two things:
1. How is it even humanly possible that Matthias survived multiple gunshot wounds to the chest AND a building collapsing on top of him during a fire? I personally think that Higginson was trying to drag out the series and make some more money off of us.
2. Why did Vaughan have to die? It could've been someone less significant. Don't get me wrong, I love each and every one of the Parker family and everything and reading about their death won't be any easier. But did it really have to be Vaughan?! Also, not a huge fan of Tyler. She is such a damsel in distress that is dead weight to the group...
I guess I'll leave the series as it is for now. I might start Season Four from Page's POV when I've gotten over the ending to the first three seasons.

Absolutely addicting, suspenseful, page turning, nail biting, heart fluttering series! I can't even begin to describe the roller coaster of emotions I had while reading these books. I laughed (boy did I laugh) I sighed, I cried, I got angry and I'm kind of happy the series is over because I don't know how much more my heart could handle the suspense...not really though, I wish it never ended. I can't wait until December 5th. It's marked on my calendar as "zombie apocalypse day".
I have read so many of your books Rachel and you truly have an amazing gift! Thank you for sharing it with me and everyone else who is as addicted to your story telling as I am. BRAVO! *STANDING OVATION* If I could give this book 100 starts I would!
Episode 9: in jail again? I swear their 9 lives must be running out. And Mathias? Dead? Alive? Episode 10: children?.. Surviving alone? Trained zombies? But, again...there is hope. Episode 11: the ocean... It should have been beautiful......... Episode 12: at last, Columbia. Why are there kids here alone again? Dog meat is no bueno!
Again ms. Higginson was able to put together a tale of survival, love, loss and hope. She has such a vivid and diverse imagination it's almost scary. The sad thing though...we now have to wait until December...
I've so fallen for these characters . This is a series of books about a group of family friends and lovers that encounter all kinds of trials and enemies as they travel through the decaying world filled with blood thirsty zombies and power hungry evil men to reach there one true goal "safety" . The bond they share , the trouble they get into , and the twists and turns of the story will have you turning page after page long after you were suppose to turn out the light and go to bed! I can't wait for season eight to come out!
Very Reagan focused in this book. Missed the other characters input and quirks, felt a little hollow without it. I'll leave the series here for now as I'm not sure I'll be able to tell the difference of character when the first person perspective changes in the Revolution series.
I'm so sad the series is over. I really enjoyed all of the characters and the journey that they were on. This series had me laughing, crying and biting my nails with anxiety. It was a great read.
