Before We Say Goodbye by Jemimah Jonah is a contemporary romance set in Seoul. I received an ARC from the author. It had a good plot, and it was definitely a Kdrama-style romance as promised. But it was an okayish read for me, overall.
Kriti walks out on seven years of love and heartbreak to start over... new country, new job, new life. And there she finds Han Seo-joon; a man who stands by her and understands her.
The Bangalore setting was cosy, and adding Seoul as the backdrop for most part felt kinda refreshing. Seoul is part of the story... to some extent.
But the book read like a work in progress. As if it had been written/edited in a hurry. Didn't like the writing much. A lot of vague visuals and abstract thoughts in some places, but characters were pretty expressive in others. So, uneven tones/moods. Not sure how to explain.
It was a good story. It handles heartbreak, healing and second chances with sensitivity. And the tension caused by Professor Park was worth keeping me engaged.
I wanted to know what happened next and kept reading, even though I skipped a lot of paragraphs. I loved the climactic sequence of events. Read with eyes welling up. Happy tears.
And I’d recommend it to someone looking for a light, contemporary, Korean-style, slow-burn romance story. But don’t keep your hopes high. The book needs more work.

Before We Say Goodbye by Jemimah Jonah is an interracial romance following Kriti and Seo-Joon. Kriti recently came out of a relationship and takes up the opportunity to go to Seoul, South Korea for her career and meets Seo-Joon who helps her navigate the streets of Hongdae.
This was a very sweet cute short read and it definately made me realise why us girls fall for korean men or men in k drama. This book was a really refreshing read and enjoyed reading it so much. It was funny, it was emotional and it was so romantic in all the right places.
I especially loved the part where Kriti helped out Mina, like that part of the plot was pretty unexpected, I did not expect the book to take that turn because it seemed such a short sweet romantic book.
Seo-Joon is the man for every k-drama lover. I am so impressed by him 🤌🏻. He was so respectful throughout the whole book and I loved how he respected Kriti's space and gave her time when she needed it. And he had helped her out so much with her work and novel as well. I loved him so soo much.
Overall, the pacing, the characters everything was amazing. The language was easy to understand and I enjoyed every aspect of the novel. Kriti's growth as a character was truly commendable. A four star read from me.
If you live k-drama x bollywood, this is your book.

❤️ One of a beautiful neat clean romance book that I read. I always love when it comes to a no smut book. And so I devoured this book.
🌸 The story starts with Kriti, who's in a writing block. She faces a heartbreak and flies to city of dreams, Korea for her fellowship. What started as a stranger helping the estranged tourist turns out to a beautiful relationship.
🤌 Be it the narration of Han River, Namsan Tower, the hidden places, Jem (author) has narrated beautifully as if those places are just an inch away from our view. Loved how you shaped the character of Seo- Joon, typical korean fictional character that all 90's will fall for !!
💯 If you're someone who loves second chances then this book is for you. Also if you're a K drama Lover I'm sure you'll devour this book as I did.

This was a cute book about a women running from heartbreak only to walk into a steady caring man who was patient and calm supporting her through it all. A sweet relationship built slowly and a new career. I don't really know what I was expecting from this book it was a enjoyable read and I found myself sympathizing with kriti in glad she got her hea.

Kriti is a writer who is completely lost in the world of books. She had been in a relationship with a guy named Raghav for seven years, but he broke up with her, leaving her completely shattered.
Then one email changed her future.
Her selection for Seoul came from a draft she had written but never sent.
Her mother secretly sent it for her because, as they say, a mother always knows her child's strength.
Kriti moves to Seoul, hoping to start a new life in a new city.
There, she meets a mysterious stranger wearing a hoodie and cap.
When she forgets the way to her apartment, the famous actor helps her and leaves his number in case of an emergency.
I loved how he would leave breakfast at her door, help her set up her furniture, and show her famous places as well as his favorite spots in Seoul.
But what I loved most was how he stayed by her side whenever she was going through heartbreak.
He was always there for her and always waited for her.
My favorite part was when he bought a publishing house because it had always been her dream. And finally, he proposed to her. 🥹❤️
This book honestly felt like living inside a K-drama, and I absolutely loved it!
If you like K-dramas, this book is definitely for you!

This book had a really interesting storyline, and I was invested in seeing how it would all come together. Unfortunately, I found the timeline quite confusing, and there were a few plot holes that left me with unanswered questions. At times, it almost felt as though some of the paragraphs had been jumbled during the editing process, which made the story harder to follow.
That said, I could still appreciate the creativity behind the plot and the potential it had. While it didn't completely work for me, I think readers who enjoy complex, layered stories may have a different experience.
