This was my first read by Midnight Love. Good action packed story that kept the pages turning. Zenobia definitely lived up to her title-although now she has a new spun problem...
When I read this sentence on the first page, “I killed my first human being at the age of twelve,” I knew it’ll be a suspenseful, fast-paced story. I wasn’t disappointed and I couldn’t put it down until I reluctantly read the last word. The story begins when Zenobia and her best friend Shelby are kids and are trying to get away from a neighborhood bully. No one knows how the bully dies and his death was ruled an accident. Fast-forward years later when Zenobia is an adult and married. No one knows that she is the “Widow Maker,” a person who has been hunting down and torturing and then killing men who are abusers. But how long can she keep her activities a secret? Her husband, a police sergeant, suspects that his wife is gone so much because she is having an affair. Little does he know . . . instead of sex on his wife’s mind . . . it’s murder!
The Widow Maker is an exciting read- I couldn’t put it down! The components of the book are well written: strong character development and detailed descriptions, made this an enjoyable read that I really, really got into! Zenobia is not one to mess with- but I love the character, even though she does some pretty unsavory and vile things. It’s a true talent to create a character who is so ‘bad’, yet been so likable. I am glad I have discovered this author - I'm very much looking forward the reading the second installment.
3.5 stars. I hope Zenobia can continue on with her mission. I need her to go back in her bathroom and clean the mirror with some Windex because that's a good way to get caught. Her friend Shelby has always been a loose end that should have been tied up. And the new partner Danielle has to die...ijs. Can't wait for book two.
3.5 Stars... minimal errors Pretty good suspenseful story. The storyline kind of dragged somewhat in a few places. I'm looking forward to reading part 2, hoping the story picks up a bit.
