Missy has returned to West Point, only to find she must once again rush off to help her buddies at Paranormal Branch. This time, her friend Tracy goes along. One thing leads to another and soon the girls are dealing with international crime organizations and terrorists. They also, of course, must then explain a few things to their boyfriends!
Missy and Tracy certainly have many friends in high places at the U.S. Government but those friends are finding it harder and harder to keep all the supernatural activities by these girls a secret. And, will any of Missy's adventures affect her career at West Point?
P. G. Allison has always loved stories about female characters with special powers (Supergirl, Wonder Woman, Bionic Woman, Batgirl) along with stories about witches and werewolves. The Missy the Werecat Series is about a girl growing up with no pack, no pride of other werecats and no Alpha; Missy is a girl with fantastic abilities doing great things in today's world, amongst humans. Other books in this paranormal, new adult, urban fantasy series have Missy going on to West Point and eventually serving in the Special Forces.
I very much enjoy all of the Missy books. The author manages to create a story with vivid detail, wonderful descriptions and great characters. This book is well written and kept me intrigued enough that I did not want to put the book down.
Missy is an amazing girl with an astonishing attitude and great skills. She is strong, funny and determined. Her main goal in life is to finish West Point but whenever and wherever she is needed to help she jumps at the chance. She isn't helping for glory, she sincerely believes that injustice is wrong and if she has the ability to end some injustice that is exactly what she does.
This is a great series and I am looking forward to the next book and I hope there are several more to come!
I'm so ready for book 5 honestly was kind of disappointed a little in the last book die to the fact most of the story was kind of based on the side characters point of view not the main character Missy. It good to try something new and different but that's be honest the character we all crave to read is Missy... on a another not I also felt that it's about time Missy learn about her witchy side. It don't seem right for one Missy pride herself for understanding her body so I believe that she need to start taking control on what type of magic she can Really do other than killing someone with a wave of her hand and healing someone with a single touch.
Allison does a great job of recapturing Missy's previous activities to bring any new readers up to date of to review for readers who may have read the previous books with time lapses in between. Missy and her co stars are a breath of fresh air when it comes to maintaining a positive set of ethics. I'm anxious to see the problems of sub characters have further resolution in episodes to come. I still say the 'how to sex primer' could be omitted and the story is strong enough to sell with the copulation toned down a bit!
I first heard about this series on Saturday - late on Saturday. Today is Monday. I have already read all four books. I said all that to say I enjoyed this series and am looking forward to book five.
First off the characters are interesting being well realised with personalities, goals and history. The story is well-paced and engaging. If you have the time you could happily listen to it non stop from start to finish. The character interactions are great with good dialogue I could happily listen to more of it.
The one slight problem is how powerful the supernatural characters are, it feels like there is no real sense of risk as you know they can claw, bite, fireball, lightning strike or heal their way out of most danger.
Where there is a real sense of risk is with the normal human characters. I think the story could use a bit more combat or horror and a bit less sex but that is just my personal preference.
The narration is great with each character given their own voice full of personality and emotion. The narration was clear and easy to listen to with no errors in the recording I noticed.
All in all a great story that is well worth a listen.
This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.
This Is The Fourth of (Currently) Eight Books; Don't Start Reading The Story In The Middle.
You will lessen your enjoyment of the first three books of you read them out of sequence because each book builds on the events of the previous books and, naturally, reading a book later in the sequence gives spoilers for the plot line and events of the previous books.
Fans of the following genres will probably like the books of this series: military fiction, crime fiction, supernatural fantasy, romance, and erotica. Those who like strong female lead characters will also likely enjoy this series of books.
Who wouldn’t like a shifter witch? This series is a unique take on “supernaturals”. It focuses on the people and not their natural powers.
My main complaint is the lengthy retelling of the “story so far” that takes up several chapters. When we finally get to the plot, the action and the interactions among characters is pretty satisfying.
This is the fourth installment of the Missy story. By now there seems to be no possible way to maintain secrecy about hereditary paranormal powers since someone new is read in all the time. The books do not show the government or the military in a very positive light.
Good, but please cool it with the Awful Agonizing Asinine Alliterations All-over
Additionally I like a good sex scene as much as the next set of gonads, but this book has so many and they are interchangeable and they don't advance the plot at all. To the point I've been routinely skipping over them because they're getting in the way of _what happens next_.
Which - all nitpicking aside - is just another way of saying these novels are otherwise highly engaging; just a little rough around the edges.
I chose 4 stars for the simple reason too many people being told the "SECRET". I understand some people need to know, but by my unofficial count we are up to around 40 or so. The overall storyline is entertaining, but not for younger readers due to explicit sex throughout each book. Truth be told, I generally page thru the sexual escapades of the assorted couples. I understand great sex enhances witchy powers, but I don't need the lick by stroke descriptions. I will finish the series, as I said, the overall storyline is fun.
I have enjoyed this series. The characters are great. The only thing I did not enjoy, was the earlier books sex scenes knowing the ages of the characters. I just felt it was early to introduce sex. The story carried itself. I would like it if they did not have to go over every aspect from one book to the next explaining situations. I already read the previous book so it I not necessary. The story would be more fluid. The West Point and special forces parts I love !
The characters have fleshed out more arrangements that they have with certain folks in the stories are good. I really enjoy a good story like this. That has some danger and good happy endings. I am really envious of the closeness that they have with their chosen mates. I have been married for 43 years to the love of my life. Sadly, she is beginning the arms of dementia. So I enjoy these books, and I hope there's a lot more to come
My review is based on the Audiobook. This was the first of Missy's Misadventures that I have read/listened to and I really liked it. The story grabs your attention at the start and holds it through out the entire book. The characters are in depth and narrator Summer Morton does a fantastic job at bringing them to life. I look forward to more in this series.
All the missy stories were great ! I loved the story line , and they are very well written. The one thing I didn't like was all the rehashing of the previous books or stories. When you read them one after the other , repeating things from the other books is just irritating.
Again, a great book I couldn't put down. Missy is getting more and more into real battles and she is loving it. I did too. Tracy has a much bigger role in this book. I see she has two books and I am looking forward to them. Right after I finish all of Missy's adventures.
P. G. Allison, you just keep doing it, for everyone of your books I can't put it down..... Your a awesome writer, I can't get enough, or say enough about every book in this series. I have no words, I'm speechless, can't wait to read the next book.......
More crazy adventures with the witch/werecat Missy as she rescues a general's daughter from terrorists and brings down a white slaving drug cartel. The story is fast paced and fun. The explicit sex laughable and totally worth skipping as it really adds nothing to the story.
Missy and her friends are in for more adventures. The General’s niece has been taken against her will and was to be sold to terrorist to get back at her Uncle General Blake. What happens next and to the one that brokered the deal, well you will have to read to find out!!!
Twists and turns abound in this adventure of Missy. The foundation grows and so dose Missy and Mike. This series is a great paranormal and military mixture that promotes entertaining reading.
I have enjoyed reading this author, I'm picky on what I like in this type of book. I like Missy and Tracy is ok. They laugh to much,so much they seem a little unstable, don't need all the filler it gets boring ,
Getting better and better. It is a page turn over. I love the characters and how different this paranormal is. I recommend I'm dying to read the next book in the series
I really enjoyed this story. My one big problem with it, as with a lot of other books, is the consistent and sometimes excessive amount of page scrolling and turning to get through all of the unnecessary recaps from earlier editions!!!!!
After the happenings in Afganistan, Missy returns to West Point to continue her studies. She then goes to Mexico to help a friend who is injured. Then helps L branch rescue a young lady and take down a Drug lord.
Too much repeating the story from the first books.we already know who these people are and their life stories.we have now read about this in the last 3 books. Does this happen in all the books until the end..
It feels like the author builds word count by repeating things over and over again. Pulling stuff almost verbatim from the prior three books. Makes for a fast read if you skim over all the repetition and poorly written porn.
