Danielle Bordeaux was used to danger. As a doctor with the Center for Disease Control she thrived on the adventure and challenge of battling the world’s worst diseases, in the world’s worst places. When Ebola breaks out in a small village in Ghana, she and her team are prepared for the worst. But what she finds is a virus made even more deadly by human hands. And when rebels attack the camp, rescue comes from the last man she ever expected to see again. It hurts every time she looks at him, but also brings a sweet torture that she’s not sure she can deny.
Damon Dupree is an ex-Marine for hire. A former sniper and an ace helicopter pilot, he goes where the money and excitement take him. The government has him playing babysitter to a genius inventor, bent on finding a cure for Ebola—but a frantic call has him racing to save the one woman from his past that he can’t touch—and can’t forget. With a killer bent on infecting anyone close with a mutated virus, can he save the only woman who’s ever meant anything to him—before they lose everything?
Trigger warnings: Ebola, death, death of a spouse/sibling (in the past), violence.
3.5 stars.
So this cover is absolutely terrible. And I had suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuper mixed feelings about the fact that this is a romance book about a woman falling in love with her dead husband's identical twin. Like, couldn't he have been her dead husband's best friend??? Even his brother who looked nothing like him??? But nooooooo, identical twin. Y.i.k.e.s.
Anywho. The "oh no, there's an ebola outbreak and some seriously shady shit going on, we better investigate" side of things was actually surprisingly compelling. The characters were pretty decent. And ultimately, I didn't mind the romance side of things as long as I pretended the identical twin part wasn't happening...
Good quick moving story. I've read several books by this author and enjoy her work. Plot was good, characters were well written and fun to follow. Some action here but mostly this was a romance novel.
When the suspense comes in the form of a deadly, man made virus, and you have no idea who in your own team is behind it, no idea who you can trust, the fear, the tension, the pressure is palpable and immense. The psychological tension that came from that fear was intense and well build. The story in whole flew very nicely, and the book was hard to put down. I love Dani and Damon together, the energy, attraction, draw is real and noticeable. It's like the allure between them is so strong, they have a special connection to each other. Maybe it's their guardian angel, Damon's twin and Dani's former husband. I didn't find the connection with Dani and Damon odd at all, because of Damon being Dani's husband's twin. It had been eight years since Gabriel passed, that was more than time enough. They respected and honored his memory, and that was pleasing to me. The love between them is strong, hot, filled with passion, understanding, and tenderness. There's just something so adorable about these two, it melted my heart, and they set the pages on fire! And as a lovely surprise, there was a little update on their friends, the cast from the former books in the series. Sharp, vivid, intense action and suspense, mixed with swoon worthy romance, a captivating love story, twists in the plot that you don't expect, and humor that makes you smile in the most tense moments ~ Five Spoons!
Good one here, too. Before I go further, there are a few more guys in this group, so will there be any more stories? Damon Dupree, former Marine and cohort of Zach and Jesse, is riding shotgun for a doctor who is assisting with the Ebola outbreak. He receives a cryptic call requesting that he exfil a group of doctors under ambush in Sierra Leone. Apparently, there are "Copperheads" around. Turns out the general is referring to his red-haired daughter, who was previously married to Damon's twin (he died). You may already see where this is going. Danielle has made a horrible discovery: she believes that the patients are being infected deliberately with a mutated strain, and the suspicion falls on her medical team.
Lots of false trails, suspicion, red herrings and some real suspense, as well as an HEA. Well done.

Once again, a very enjoyable read. This one had the most action and danger in it than the previous two, and I think maybe that had the story flying by. I really enjoyed it. Both the h/H weren't annoying, but just trying to figure shit out. I really liked both of them. I feel like this series gets better with each book.
Finding Dan I (Once a Marine, Always a Marine) Mori David
As the first two this was a good read. Hopefully with more in the series to come. To all who but her books Happy Reading. One author who can give a good plot & keep the love scene romantic & real.
widow falls for dead spouse's twin who has loved her forever. unfortunately, they're in the middle of a raging Ebola epidemic intentionally inflicted by someone in her CDC unit.
Best of the series so far. Complex and exciting suspense, great characters you can really sink your teeth into. Keeps you guessing till the end and offers some 5 star steamy sceens. Great read!
