As a football fan, and especially as a fan that has had SD Eibar at the lookout for some years, deeply enjoying their playing at characteristics, I was so glad to come across this book. Having heard from it in a podcast, I decided to give it a try and learn how this team works not only in the pitch but as a business as well, as it is known that their management is among the best concerning football clubs.
This is a de-facto guide to how-to-greatly-manage-a-football-team-with-limited-means-but-unlimited-passion. In it, the author Álex Aranzábal, former director of the club, explains in a simple but proficient prose the essence of Eibar and its extension to the SD Eibar, its origins, but most important how their committed to their iron forged values through thick and thin, which has permitted this club to fight among rivals such as FC Barcelona in LaLiga with one of the most limited budgets and without any kind of debt.
Despite this amazing accomplishment, and the explaining of the interesting club's philosophy, the book was loosing reading steam and could not keep me captivated for the whole read. As such, I would recommend it to almost everyone interested in football management or management in general, as it is an honest portrayal of the importance of doing good things and doing them well, one lesson worth learning.

Me espera un libro sobre el histórico ascenso en dos años, de la segunda división B a primera, del Eibar y me he encontrado un libro de gestión empresarial.
El libro explica cómo se gestiona un club de fútbol (SAD), pero podría aplicarse a cualquier tipo de empresa.
El autor mezcla hechos históricos del Eibar con conceptos empresariales, de gestión de personal y de planificación y ejecución de planes estratégicos.
Me ha costado un poco leerlo, la redacción no es lo que más me ha gustado del libro.
Una de las cosas que más me ha gustado es el prólogo de Jorge Valdano.

El libro va de más a menos, al principio cuenta el modelo de crecimiento pero a medida que va desarrollando la idea se pierde en redundancias y tecnicismos.
Acaba haciéndose denso para destacar alguna idea clave en capitulos largos, y un capítulo final interesante del autor y final sin decir ni adios ni nada (da la impresión de que falta más libro por concluir)

It's important that every president/owner of a Spanish football club... actually, scrap that. It's important that every president/owner of ANY football club studies this book.
Aranzábal balances passion for the game and his role as Eibar president. Through his hardwork, tough decisions and understanding of the game, Eibar have become the only financially healthy club in Spain today. They are not in debt by even one cent. The president chronicles his arrival at the club and how things changed quickly, economically speaking. His tough decision to abolish the youth team was met with despair but, three years later, Eibar achieved back-to-back promotion and enjoyed their first season in the top tier of Spanish football.
