Love at first sight was never an ideology that Kendall Cabrera believed in. Not until he met Ayasa Kennedy in a nightclub and made himself her lover on the first night. It didn't take any convincing, seducing or manipulating. He knew from the first time they locked eyes that he could spend the rest of his days making this woman's life easy, and never regret it.
And he did. Eight years together, and nothing could hinder the love that he'd given to her except for his own wrongdoing.
There were no more long nights of love making, intimate baths in a garden tub, or tending to beds of flowers on Sunday afternoons. The seeds they planted were facing the harshest season yet.
Four years after heartbreak, Ayasa began to find harmony in the garden of life again. Spring always brings seeds to full bloom. But what happens when old flowers never die? With the resurgence comes plenty of rain.
A beautiful slow burn filled with a type of love that everyone dreams about until it isn’t. Top tier yearning and a connection built off a chance meeting in a club. Ken and Yaya really saw one another and poured into each other from that first night on until one day changed everything. This book definitely had me asking can love be enough to get past the pain, anger, and suffering that has been caused.
*While I really enjoyed this book there were some things I wished weren’t so glossed over and things that I felt the reader should have seen on page and not just alluded to. This was my first by Imani and I’ll definitely check out her work in the future. Also the cover alone gets 5⭐️ very beautiful and alluring
WTFWD- I feel like I can’t even find the words to describe this beautiful book! Not just the cover, I FELT how much she put her heart into this. Kendall was that N*gga! & Asaya?? Her love for him was so pure. I love a book that will have me feeling all emotions 🥺
Honestly, just read the book because again, I can’t find the words.
This was a love story that for me, felt longer than it needed to be. The story had its moments, but when it was all said and done I was ready for closure. There were some editing issues that also kept it from being rated higher. And it definitely ended in a manner that hinted at another book to come.
Ayasa and Kendall met each other one night and that's all she wrote! This book was so good, one of my top reads this year. Two broken people who completed another from day 1. This is why I always tell men that if you want to know what women want Read the books they love. I won't spoil nothing, just read the book. 10/10.
Oh this was a love story I almost DNF at the beginning but I’m so glad I kept reading. Kendall and Ayasa were in love from the first time they met, and the way this author wrote the story, I believed it. Kendall said he would do anything for Ayasa and he did. Oh the yearning I love when the man is begging 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for me.
This was my first book by this author and I'll be looking for others. I knew Kendall wasn't dead but that didn't take from this story at all. This was beautiful. The love was felt. The pain was felt. The joy. The reconcilation. The path back to each other, it was all felt. Ayasa had every right to ALL of her feelings but I felt like she was being mean at one point. Kendall did lie by omission prior to being shot but he didn't leave her. I felt like she was too forgiving with Parris and should've left him alone after she reconnected with Kendall, even if she wasn't truly back with him. Kendall needed to show more patience and give Ayasa more grace. They both needed to give each other more grace because the situation was a lot. I'm truly glad they found their way back to each other. Christian & Ashton aka Bianca🤔🫣. They up next or nah?
This Book Touch Every Emotion, & I Couldn’t Help But Sit & Allow Myself To Feel Them. I Cried, I Laughed Off & On More Then A Few Times. Not Only Did The Cover Capture Me, But Every Word Throughout These Pages Kept Me Engaged.
A Beautiful, Emotional, and Unforgettable Love Story
Where the Flowers Won’t Die by Imani Aliyyah is a beautifully written, deeply emotional story that touched my heart in ways I wasn’t expecting. From beginning to end, this book pulled me in and kept me invested, making me feel every emotion right alongside the characters.
The love story was absolutely beautiful. It was heartfelt, moving, and filled with the kind of emotion that reminds you how powerful love can be, even when life gets complicated. The characters and their experiences made the story feel real, and I found myself connecting with their emotions on a deeper level. There were moments that warmed my heart, moments that hurt, and moments that made me stop and reflect.
What I loved most was how the story captured the beauty of love while acknowledging the pain, challenges, and vulnerability that can come with it. It reminded me that even through heartbreak and difficult seasons, there can still be beauty, growth, and hope.
This book was more than just a love story. It was an emotional journey that stayed with me even after I finished reading. I love books that make me FEEL something, and this one absolutely delivered
Kendall, a force to be reckon with strong minded and very intentional. When he sees Yaya, the gravitational pull does not let up. He is the true definition of touch her and die. You can have whatever you like, T.I style, when it comes to Yaya.
Yaya, whimsical, spiritual, young but very much mature in ways that just radiated.
Part One of this book was written with so much care and intention. It made me care for the characters especially with the representation of hearing for Yaya and the Kendall being a single "father" (lol) loved that for his siblings.
Part Two, snatched my damn hairline back lol. It speeds up and barely brakes towards the ending but I loved every bit of it even the unneccesary Parris cosplaying as a man. Chile, these folks was given pure mean, lol. My girl, Yaya, made friend sweat.
They both deal with parent abandonment, step mama trope, grief, second chance, fated love.
Ms. Imani Aliyyah has not missed on any of the books she has written.
This was a love story. I felt the love. I felt the physical. I felt it all. So good. I did feel like at one point it was too long and taking too long to get to where it needed to get. But in the end...I was happy to be along for the journey.
Spoiler below...
I wish it would've talked more about Kendall's time away. It was a big part of tje story but no real details except the hospital stay. And it ended with his epilogue...but what about Yaya? And at the end clearly...what about Ashton and Ole boy?
Beautiful love at first sight storyline. Very well written book. My first, but certainly not my last by this author. Oh, and I see where you’re going with Wolf. I’m thinking a sequel is coming.
