"Barbara Freethy’s suspense novels are explosively good!" — New York Times Bestselling Author Toni Anderson
After the success of their true crime podcast, Mysteries Uncorked, Tessa, Cassidy and Morgan are finally starting to enjoy what the podcast has given them—recognition, opportunity, and the sense that their voices actually matter. Invitations are coming in. Doors are opening. For the first time, it feels like all the risk might have been worth it.
Then, in the middle of what should have been a celebratory moment, Tessa suddenly finds herself at the center of a terrifying scene. She tells herself it’s coincidence—that she just happened to be there when something went horribly wrong. But as questions mount and details refuse to line up, the harder it becomes to ignore the possibility that this wasn’t random at all.
When stories turn deadly, the question isn’t just who’s listening…. It’s who’s watching.

Another page turning great read from Barbara Freethy. Book 2 in Mysteries uncooked series stepped up the suspense. Tessa Conway past brings up the death of a fellow student from 10 years ago. So along with Cassidy and Morgan she starts trying to find out how Paige MacIntyre really died. Was it an accident or murder. You'll have to read this gripping page turner to find out.
Freethy gradually weaves through didn’t hypothesizes of how a student fell to her death 9 years previously. She keeps you guessing until the very end with whodunnit. She never disappoints the reader. I loved it
Barbara Freethy has done it again; I absolutely loved What They’ll Say About Us and thoroughly enjoyed reading it! It is the second book in her new Mysteries Uncorked: A Podcast Thriller. It kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. Who does not love a psychological thriller with a surprise ending and lots of plot twists and turns? Once again Barbara Freethy, a must-read author for me, has shown that she is a master storyteller and definitely did not disappoint her readers. I love how she developed the story line and the characters. I was hooked from the first few pages; it was impossible to put it down and I loved every moment on every page of this incredible page turner! I love the thriller, the setting, and the amazing characters. I love that she wrote What They’ll Say About Us in the first person from the perspective of the main character, Tessa Conway. I loved getting inside her mind and knowing her thoughts and how she really feels. What They’ll Say About Us is the story of Tessa Conway, Mysteries Uncorked true crimes podcaster. Tessa and Cassidy Clarke and Morgan Kent started the Mysteries Uncorked true crime podcast after they were all laid off from a media company. Tessa, Cassidy, and Morgan head to Chicago for a podcaster convention. During a Q & A, a woman poses a question to Tessa about the murder of a twenty-one-year-old girl at Northwestern nine years ago. The murder has never been solved. A woman Tessa knew personally knew, Paige MacIntyre. The woman was Paige’s younger sister, Alina. Paige drowned in Lake Michigan a couple of months before graduation during their senior year of college. Her death was ruled an accident. Alina approaches the trio about convincing the police to reopen Paige’s case. Cassidy returns to New York leaving Tessa and Morgan to investigate Paige’s death. Tessa interviews her fellow classmates as well as her ex-friend, Liam Crawford. Mysterious occurrences and escalating attacks on Tessa and Morgan happen during their investigation. Detective Colton Barclay of the Evanston Police Department agrees to work with Tessa and reopen the case regarding Paige’s death, following and attempt on Tessa’s and Morgan’s lives. Colton and Tessa work together to figure out who is behind all the events, things slowly change between Tessa and Colton. I love the chemistry between them. I love the secrets that Tessa and Colton share with one another and all the surprises that they discover together while trying to find answers. A surprise plot twist puts Tessa’s life in danger. I love all the unexpected plot twists and turns throughout the story. One of my favorite parts of the story is the surprise that is revealed at the end of the story and the impact that has on Tessa. What They’ll Say About Us was an incredible psychological thriller and kept me guessing what really happened to Paige and who was behind the events that were happening to Tessa, and Morgan. I never saw the villain or the real story behind what really happened to Paige until it was revealed in the story. It truly took me by surprise. I love all the secrets and surprises that are revealed in the story and how they impacted what happened to Paige. Glad the MacIntyres got the closer surrounding Paige’s drowning in Lake Michigan. I love how Tessa changed during the story from, becoming a strong confident woman achieving her own dreams and how Colton is willing to make changes in his life to see Tessa again. My favorite part is the ending, and how it is a perfect ending. I love the descriptions of the Chicago setting. Barbara Freethy has once again delivered an amazing story filled with everything that I have come to love about her books. She has once again provided her readers with the amazing characters that I have come to love and expect in her books, they feel like family! I love how Barbara develops her characters in such a way that you fall in love with them and care about them much like a good friend. What They’ll Say About Us is filled with poignant and bittersweet moments as well as plot twists and surprises that I have come to love and expect in Barbara Freethy thriller, she continues to deliver all that and so much more. It was an incredible psychological thriller. Looking for a great thriller, then I highly recommend What They’ll Say About Us I received an advanced copy from the author.
Barbara Freethy’s What They’ll Say About Us is the kind of suspense novel that grabs you early and refuses to let go. At the center of the story is the shocking death of a 21-year-old college student who was poised to be the star of the spring play. Her death is devastating—but as the investigation unfolds, it becomes clear that there was far more to this young woman, and to the people around her, than anyone realized. The characters are wonderfully drawn, and nearly every one seems to be carrying a secret from the past. Just when you think you understand someone’s motives, another layer is revealed. Ms. Freethy does an excellent job creating that delicious uncertainty where you begin to question everyone. Adding an especially intriguing twist is Tessa’s live True Crime podcast, created with her friends, Morgan and Cassidy. The podcast becomes more than an interesting backdrop—it adds another dimension to the investigation and keeps the suspense crackling. Even more compelling is the fact that Tessa had auditioned for the starring role in the play and was beaten out for the part by the young woman who is now dead. That detail adds an uncomfortable emotional edge: grief, disappointment, suspicion, and unanswered questions all collide. The pacing is terrific, with revelations arriving at just the right moments and enough twists to keep you turning pages and changing your mind about who might be hiding something. The atmosphere is tense, the characters are fascinating, and the secrets keep piling up. What They’ll Say About Us is an absorbing mystery filled with complicated relationships, buried secrets, and plenty of twists. If you enjoy character-driven suspense with a modern True Crime twist, this one is definitely worth picking up. What They’ll Say About Us is the second book in the Mysteries Uncorked series. I am loving this series and I can’t wait to read Book 3.
A Riveting, High-Stakes Sequel That Puts the Spotlight on Danger
Barbara Freethy does it again with What They'll Say About Us, the second installment in her gripping Mysteries Uncorked series. If you thought the first book was intense, prepare yourself, this sequel takes the tension and raises it to a whole new, terrifying level.
The premise is brilliantly unsettling. After the triumphant success of their true-crime podcast, Tessa, Cassidy, and Morgan are finally basking in the well-deserved glow of recognition and opportunity. Freethy perfectly captures the intoxicating thrill of success, making it all the more jarring when the rug is pulled out from under them. You can feel their sense of accomplishment shift into a chilling paranoia as Tessa finds herself in the wrong place at the wrong time—or is it?
Freethy is a master of the "is it coincidence or is it something more?" trope, and she plays it to perfection here. The story is a masterclass in suspense, weaving a web of doubt and unease that had me turning pages well into the night. The author expertly blurs the lines between Tessa's professional life and her personal safety, making you question every character and every seemingly innocent detail. The tagline, "It’s who’s watching," is genuinely creepy and sets the perfect tone for the story.
What truly elevates this book is the dynamic between the three leads. Their friendship feels authentic, and their shared anxiety as their success attracts a dangerous spotlight adds a powerful emotional core to the thriller. You're not just worried for one character; you're invested in the fate of the entire trio. The pacing is flawless, the twists are unpredictable, and the final reveal is both shocking and satisfying.
What They'll Say About Us is a must-read for fans of psychological thrillers and anyone who loves a story about the dark side of fame. It’s a twisty, page-turning reminder that in the world of true crime, sometimes the most dangerous story is the one you’re living. I can't wait to see what's next for the Mysteries Uncorked team.
This new series is so good. While each of the main characters will have their own story, I highly encourage you to read the two books that have been released so far. Incorporating the podcasting theme adds a relevant layer of the current media environment
Cassidy, Morgan and Tessa are in Chicago for business. They are excited to meet other people who share their space. Chicago is familiar to Tessa as she spent her college years there. During one of their presentations, a person from Tessa's past challenges her to use her "true crime" podcasting resources to re-open her sister's death. Tessa went to school with her sister; Paige and they were friends at one time but that changed before Paige died. Tessa is not sure she wants to go back in the past, but she also has questions. The three decide that this will be their next true crime case and they hit the ground running. Since Tessa knows many of Paige's friends, she is taking the lead. She soon realizes that her inquiries are gaining attention and Tessa is now in harm's way. She recruits the help of a detective, who at first, thinks Tessa is not serious and could be wasting his time, but events that are unfolding take a darker turn and time is running out.
Without revealing any spoilers, I can share that my favorite part of this series is that it is a whodunnit until the very end and I was guessing until the end. In hindsight, there were whispers of clues, but you realized that you were following along with the main character trying to figure it out, too. The other part of the story that I liked was how flawed Tessa was and how she had evolved over time to be a better version of herself.
Tessa and her friends from the podcast Mysteries Uncorked find themselves thrust into an investigation that dates back to Tessa’s college years. The victim, Paige, had at one time been a friend of Tessa’s, but by the time she died, Tessa and Paige were rivals. After what seemed like a very short investigation, the police labeled Paige’s death as an accident and closed the case. But Paige’s sister was never content with that conclusion, so she approached Tessa in front of her followers and pretty much pushed the crew from Mysteries Uncorked to review the police findings. But not everyone is happy to see the investigation reopened. As Tessa approaches people she once viewed as friends, she begins to doubt just about everyone. And everyone doubts her…because Tessa has the biggest motive to kill Paige. It doesn’t take long to discover that no one is willing to talk. As Tessa and Morgan start to look at Tessa’s old college friends, they discover that there are too many suspects. And somewhere along the line, Tessa has become the latest target. Someone isn’t happy to see the spotlight shine on Paige’s death. Barbara Freethy has the ability to craft books that keep you on the edge of your seat. Filled with twists and turns, What They’ll Say About Us, will leave you breathless. The action is intense, the plot believable, and the characters, Tessa, Morgan, and Cassidy, are strong, intelligent, and resourceful women. They’re badasses in the best way possible. I do hope we will see more of Colton in future books. He added a wonderful new dimension to the story. And I also want to add how much I love the book’s cover art. It’s perfect for the story.
This is the second book in the Mysteries Uncorked series and it was an outstanding story. Mysteries Uncorked is the name of the podcast that Tessa, Morgan and Cassidy created when they lost their jobs and were looking for something fun to do in their down time. The podcast took off and they decided to take the podcast on the road and try to solve actual unsolved crimes. The girls are in Chicago at a Podcasters Convention when they are approached by a girl whose sister, Paige, died her senior year and her death was ruled an accident, but she doesn't believe it was. When she called Tessa out in front of everyone, things got interesting!
Tessa went to college in Chicago and used to be friends with Paige. After Paige was found floating in the lake, Tessa became a suspect. After only a few short weeks, her death was ruled an accident and Tessa finished school and left Chicago for the Big Apple. When Paige's sister brings up her death in the crowd, Tessa has no choice but to make this their next case to try to solve.
This story had so many twists and turns that I just couldn't put it down! I had so many moments that I thought I knew what happened and who the murderer was, only to read another part of the story and change my mind. Tessa learned a lot about herself and the kind of person she used to be. And it seemed like just about everyone had their own secrets they didn't want to come out.
This was an amazing story full of suspense, drama, and all kinds of moments that will have you questioning who did it right up to the very end! I loved this story and would recommend it to everyone!
What They’ll Say About Us is the second book in a series of three. Tessa is the main character in this book. Tessa is living in New York after a failed career as an actress. She then starts a podcast business with two of her friends. The three are invited to Chicago to present at a podcast convention. Tessa went to school at Northwestern so it was very familiar with Chicago and has some past bad experiences there. Paige was at one time a friend of Tessa’s. However, they had a falling out during her senior year at college. Paige died in what was ruled in accident, but Paige’s sister does not believe it was an accident and asks Tessa to investigate it. Tessa is very reluctant to investigate it because they ended on bad terms and suspicion might be on her that she actually caused the death. With some pressure from members of the conference she reluctantly agrees to investigate. Tessa is forced to relate with several of her college friends and her old boyfriend from the past to determine what really happened to Paige. Then someone appears to be getting uncomfortable because freak accidents start happening with Tessa almost being killed. The plot thickens as the book progressives with some surprising twists and turns. I did not read the original book 1st and that might be helpful to do before reading this one, but I was able to follow the characters just fine without having read that first book.
My favorite Barbara Freethy novels are the mystery ones and this was another great one highly recommended.
What They'll Say About Us, the latest release by Barbara Freethy is her Myteries Uncorked Podcast series was fantastic. I extend thanks to the author and publisher for the Advanced Release Copy that was gifted to me.
As I have said in previous reviews of this author's books, she is quite possibly one of the best when it comes to plot twists and unexpected characters. I read a vast amount of books, and it is rare that an author is able to stump me when it comes to the who dun it! She definitely has a way with literary sleight of hand. I continually feel that she has a way of saying look over here, then no, look over here. All the while , neither of those are where you should have been looking. Absolutely brilliant. As I posted in a previous review, I was genuinely still changing my mind until the story revealed that it was .... did you seriously think I was going to have a spoiler alert in my review ... not likely. I'm still shaking my head the day after finishing and thinking, I did not see that coming.
This book will definitely have the attention of many different genre readers. While there's obviously mystery and thriller, there's just enough romantic tension to appease that group. The other thing I really like about Barbara's work is that while her books are part of a series, they can stand alone. There's enough of a cliffhanger wanting you to be anticipating the next book , but not so much that you feel you didn't get the whole story.
Barbara Freethy is an author you don't want to miss. Happy Reading!!!
Everyone has secrets. Some are small: you don't like sleeping in the dark, you aren't really a redhead, you broke the glass and blamed it on someone else. Then there are the bigger secrets like when you took a few supplies from work for your home office, you took money out of someone's purse or wallet. Then there are the life changing secrets: you know something about someone's death but you never told anyone or you spread lies about someone so they wouldn't be liked and rewarded for their behavior. What They'll Say About Us has those life changing secrets. But who are hiding them and what are they hiding? Nine years ago a twenty-one-year-old girl died. Was it an accident or did someone kill her? The police ruled it an accident but there are many people that don't think that's true. Tessa Conway and her two friends Cassidy Clarke and Morgan Kent have a podcast called Mysteries Uncorked. Sounds like they are the perfect people to investigate this death. Only Cassidy went to college with the dead girl and fought with her all of the time. Does Cassidy have secrets she doesn't want to tell? Do other members of the drama members from that time have their own secrets? And who is trying to kill Cassidy before the secrets are revealed? You are going to have to read the book to find out! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
When a mystery hits close to home I’m a huge fan of mysteries and thrillers, but am well aware of how difficult they can be to write. All the clues to resolve the mystery must be present, but not in a way that lets the reader solve the case early. Barbara Freethy again has demonstrated her command of the genre with “What They’ll Say About Us,” Book 2 in her Mysteries Uncorked series. Our trio of podcasters — Cassidy, Morgan and Tessa — again take their show on the road after a presentation at a podcasting conference. This time, Tessa is in the hot seat because they death they are looking at happened during her senior year of college when a classmate in her theatre program drowned in a lake. Even more interesting to me than the mystery is how Tessa has to confront her past self. Was she a good friend? Was she a good girlfriend? How did what happened in college affect her future career and even where she is now as the podcast gains in popularity. I found Tessa to be brave as she forced herself to have face-to-face conversations with people from her past who don’t always like her. Supporting her throughout are Morgan and Cassidy, who didn’t meet Tessa until after college. They are able to help Tessa see that she is no longer the same person. The resolution, both of the mystery and the book, included surprises and optimism for the next title.
This was such an interesting story that kept me on the edge of my seat through the book. Tessa, Morgan, and Cassidy had formed their on podcast about mysteries and murders. When the women were invited to be keynote speakers at a symposium in Chicago, one of Tessa’s past friends’ sister challenged her to find what really happened to her sister Paige on that lonely lake at night nine years ago. Tessa did not want to open that can of worms, but felt an obligation to find out what happened to her nemesis. I can’t imagine what Tessa was going through and seeing what she was like and not being very proud of herself. Then to get feedback from her podcasts that were hateful towards her would have been scary, especially when accidents that kept happening to her may not have been an accident! It was interesting learning about her past and the people she knew. I was glad that Colton who was a dective in charge of reopening the case of how Paige fell into the lake nine years ago. I liked the interaction between Colton and Tessa. Ms. Freethy did such an excellent job of keeping me guessing about who was responsible for what happened to Paige. You must read this book!
What They’ll Say About Us brings us back to the podcast, Mysteries Uncorked. Tessa, Morgan, and Cassidy are in Chicago for a podcast-related convention. It was Tessa’s old stomping grounds from her college days. While in college nine years earlier, Paige, a friend of Tessa’s turned rival, died. Paige’s younger sister confronted Tessa in an auditorium full of listeners to challenge the team to find out how her sister really died. She believed she had been murdered. Tessa didn’t want to dredge up old memories but ultimately did. It took me a while to get into the storyline. However, halfway through it really took off. How do you solve a possible murder from nine years ago when no one was with the victim when she died? It turns out there are lots of possible answers, plenty of twists and turns, and lots of suspense. This book can be read alone but I do recommend reading the first book. It will help understand the dynamics of the three friends and how they produce their podcast, Mysteries Uncorked.
What a great addition to this series! Tessa, Morgan, and Cassidy are three friends who started a true crime podcast together after losing their jobs. It really takes off in the first book when they personally investigate and solve a murder with a personal connection to Cassidy in book one (go read it, it’s great!). In this book they travel to Chicago to do a podcast event, and get confronted with a mystery from Tessa‘s past. Tessa really does not want to dive into her past while she’s back home in Chicago, but with their audience begging for more information, she has no choice. What follows is a twisty story, digging into all the difficult parts of Tessa‘s past that she would much rather leave behind. There was danger, romance, and questions at every turn. I was surprised by the ending, and many things that happened in between. I really enjoyed this fast pace, thriller, and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series that hopefully will help us learn more about the third main character, Morgan. I received an ARC and this is my honest review.
This is the second book in the Mysteries Uncorked series, which follows three women who host a crime podcast, which has led them to actually investigating the crimes. If you haven't read the first book in the series, you'll be able to jump into this one without feeling like you've missed much.
The women are in Chicago for a convention, which it leads to Morgan, Tessa, and Colton, a police detective, looking into a potential crime from Tessa's past. And the more they investigate, it's easy to see that Tessa herself could be considered a suspect.
I liked this book more than the previous one. There's plenty of mystery and suspense as they try to figure out what happened to Tessa's former friend/rival. The story is well-written and will keep readers at the edge of their seats, waiting to see how it all unfolds. I'm looking forward to seeing what's in store for Morgan, the final podcaster of the trio.
**Voluntarily read and reviewed a copy provided by the author**
What They’ll Say About Us is the second installment in Barbara Freethy’s Mysteries Uncorked series that will keep readers guessing until the unexpected climax. Tessa, Cassidy, and Morgan are in Chicago participating in a podcaster convention when Tessa is challenged by the sister of a deceased friend/rival of Tessa’s to investigate if the girl’s death really was an accident as the police had ruled. The group’s decision to proceed will force Tessa to interact with many from her college years and finally face up to her less than admirable behavior during her time at Northwestern. As the story progresses each new revelation brings another suspect into focus and another possible attempt on Tessa’s life! Make sure you have plenty of time because this is a book that begs to be read in one sitting. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book from the author. Most highly recommend.
Yes, yes, yes! Another great read by Barbara Freethy! Book #2 in the Mysteries Uncorked: A Podcast Thriller Series, certainly delivers.
In Chicago for a podcast convention/conference, our girls, Tessa, Cassidy, and Morgan, are giving the Keynote Address, they are true crime podcasters, who had recently solved a crime. At their talk, a person from Tessa's past wants the girls to take the case of Paige, who supposedly accidentally drowned. Since Tessa knew Paige, this all begins to blow up! Many of Tessa's acquaintances from the time of Paige's death are upset that she and her friends want to reopen this case and are not forthcoming with any information.
Now the police are involved and will Tessa and a certain detective become involved too?
A fabulous ride and an absolutely out of nowhere plot twist!! You need to read this book!
Author Barbara Freethy writes both romances and thrillers. I’m a big fan of both, but the thrillers always grip readers with at least a few twists and turns that you don’t see coming. This is the second book in a series about 3 friends in New York City (Cassidy, Tessa & Morgan) who started a true crime podcast after all being laid off from their jobs. The first book in the series had the ladies taking their podcast on the road to cover a case that had some personal ties to Cassidy, and they end up finding a killer. Their podcast has grown with that success, leading to them being invited to a podcast convention in Chicago as keynote speakers. The decision of what case to delve into next is taken out of their hands when a victim’s younger sister confronts them at the convention. Tessa was college friends/rivals with the girl who died. The police ruled it an accident, but was it really murder? And if so, who did it? Tessa has to confront a whole bunch of people from her past, and several attempts on her life before the truth is revealed. How she & Morgan come to that conclusion makes for a great story…..and possibly a future with a handsome police detective. A great read!
Welcome to book two, in this author‘s new series Mysteries Uncorked. A series that blends cold case investigations, with a podcast, created by three women who found themselves looking at the unemployment line and decided to turn their hobby of amateur sleuthing to a well recognized podcast. This book revolves around Tessa and a death that occurred during her college days, in which, honestly Tessa looks like suspect number one? However, going back into your past is never easy, emotionally or mentally. The dynamic of these three women working together, blending the past in the future, is something truly magical. I am actually counting the days till book 3 releases.!
This book kept me riveted. I could not put it down once I started it. I could feel the tension between the characters as I read. Tessa returns to the Chicago area where she had gone to college. She and her colleagues were there to present at a podcast conference. During the Q & A Tessa was challenged by the sister of a student who died as a senior in college. Trying to find out what actually happened to Paige sets up a series of events leading to the truth. Barbara Freethy writes the most incredible and believable journey of friendship, rivalry, jealousy and self doubt. I love the twists and turns that I didn’t see coming as well as the aha moments. A truly well written book.
What They'll Say About Us is the second book in Barbara Freethy’s Mysteries Uncorked series. Barbara Freethy has created another great true-crime mystery! The main characters work well together, and it was interesting to watch Tessa’s story unfold as her connection to the mystery was revealed. I thought Detective Colton Barclay’s involvement made the investigation even more engaging. As in the first book of the series, Barbara skillfully blends suspense together with realism, making the book hard to put down. The twists kept me guessing until the killer was revealed. Mystery-thriller fans will not be disappointed!
A great mystery that keeps you guessing until the end! Giving a keynote speech at a podcaster conference, Tessa is confronted about the death of a college frenemy whose death had been declared an accident, but her sister doesn’t think it was and dares Tessa to look into it for their podcast. She feels pressured to do it, even though she is forced to confront her past and her behavior at that time.
I enjoyed the story, but always loving a romance, was not thrilled with the end of the book, but holding out hope more happens on that in book three.
Thanks to the author for a review copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Who knew that having a podcast would be so dangerous. Tessa and her two friends have built their career with a true crime podcast that actually solves old cases. she never knew attending a podcast convention in Chicago would open a case that is intensely personal and brings danger to her door.
There are twists and turns and tons of suspense guaranteed to keep even the most devoted mystery reader on the edge of their seats until the very end. As always Ms Freethy has proven she is a master of mystery and suspense. Another five star read.
What they’ll Say About Us is book 2 in the Mysteries Uncorked: A Podcast Thriller series by Barbara Freethy 4.5 stars
As cohost with her friends of Mysteries Uncorked by solving crimes, Tessa didn’t her past to come back. Now they are investigating the incident from Tessa’s college days and has realized someone wants their secrets protected. When the case is reopened police detective Colton is looking for answers. Twists, turns, secrets, danger, coverups, and edge of your seat suspense…
I voluntarily read a copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I believe I liked What They'll Say About Us more than I did Is Anyone Listening, but to be fair, Is Anyone Listening was the start of the series where the author must establish characters and personalities, so the first in a series tends to be slower, in my opinion. That said, I really enjoyed this one. I won't rehash the storyline other than to say Tessa has to confront her past and finds that's not always easy to do when you have to admit the mistakes that you made. Good story. I look forward to the next in the series.
I was excited about this book because true crime podcasts are my jam. This story did not disappoint. It followed the decisions that a 20-something college senior that is invincible and obviously has a long life ahead of them leads. It accurately portrayed the selfishness that all college kids seem to live in. The story had so many twists and turns that I did not see coming. It was well written, the characters were likeable and I was invested in the story. I wanted to know what was happening that I had a really hard time putting it down.
With the first book in this series hitting it out of the park, I was worried this one wouldn't live up to expectations. I shouldn't have. This second book was fun, enjoyable and kept me turning the pages to see what happens next. We met Tessa in the first story, but in this one we get to know, understand, and truly like her. The story was sad but intriguing at the same time. Definitely kept you guessing who, what, why, and how! You will not be disappointed if you read this book. Looking forward to the next in this interesting series.
The Mysteries Uncorked trio of podcasters returns in the second book of the series. This story centers around Tessa as the team visits Chicago to take part in a podcaster’s convention. There, Tessa and her friends are drawn into looking into a death, 9 years prior, of one of Tessa’s college classmates. There are plenty of secrets, numerous twists and turns, a few close calls and more questions than answers. The story is riveting, and it was hard to put down.
Another brilliant story with the “Mysteries Uncorked” ladies. As Tessa tries to find the truth behind a past friend and competitor’s death, she’ll encounter a mirage of emotions from past relationships. With every clue, come the typical twist and turns that Barbara always gives us to keep us on the edge of our seats. Morgan is up next and will surely give us another view of a new murder mystery. 💕💕
