My heart really went out to Eleanor. I was genuinely so sad watching her carry so much by herself, especially with the way her mom treated her and took advantage of her. She deserved so much more support, love, and understanding than she was given, and I desperately wanted her to finally feel like she could actually live instead of constantly being weighed down by everything she’d been through 🥺🥺🥺
And then there’s Bryson. 🥹 The fact that Eleanor had always been the one for him, even after all those years, completely got me. The way they somehow found their way back to each other felt like such an act of fate. Like… what are the actual odds?! 🥹🫶🏼 I loved that they got their second chance, and I especially adored the letters he wrote her. I'm a sucker for anything with writing so those absolutely got me
What I loved most was watching Bryson become Eleanor’s safe space. He gave her somewhere she could fall apart without being judged, somewhere she could simply exist as herself. I loved how he showed her that real love doesn’t come with conditions and that she was worthy of being loved exactly as she was —scars, insecurities, and all. I loved how Bryson helped her see herself differently and made her feel beautiful and confident without asking her to become someone else.
And his family?! I adored them. Coming from a family that didn’t give her the love she deserved, seeing how fiercely his family welcomed and loved her made my heart so happy. 🥹 Bryson standing up to her parents was also EVERYTHING because those people somehow managed to get worse every single time. I wanted to strangle them😭😭
And his home gym transformation for her?! OBSESSED. like girl you're living my dream 😝💞
I did struggle a little with the writing style. At times, the prose felt a bit stilted & choppy, which made some scenes feel less natural and fluid. It’s a small thing compared to how much I genuinely enjoyed the characters and emotional heart of the story, but it did keep this from being a 5⭐️ read for me.
Still, this was such a cute, heartfelt second-chance romance with a love story that had me rooting for them and wanting Eleanor to finally get the happiness she deserved🥹🫶🏼💗
→ and on a more personal note, I’m genuinely so proud of Alicia for pushing through and bringing this story to life, especially through everything she’s been dealing with health-wise. Knowing how much it took for her to keep going and still put this book out into the world makes being able to read it even more special. I’m so grateful that I had the opportunity to receive an ARC and experience this story. I’ll always be cheering her on and supporting her, and I hope she knows just how proud she should be of herself for making it through and creating something that can now be shared with others. you're awesome birthday twin 🥹💗

My friend Alicia wrote a book, and i’d firstly like to thank her for giving me the opportunity to read this story before it hits our shelves. I’m grateful to have been able to follow you on this journey and get to know your characters inside and outside of these pages. Thank you for trusting me with your work and allowing me to read this.
Eleanor is a deeply empathetic and thoughtful character. Caring for her siblings and her Mum without a second thought. These traits are one of many that make her such a wonderful character to read about! The development throughout - where we started and where we ended up with Eleanors character - was so rewarding. Getting to see her become a more confident and more powerful version of herself.
Then we have Bryson, who is shut off and private. Keeping most things to himself and doing what he needs to do to get by. Then he finds Eleanor again, who is able to make him open up and acknowledge his own feelings. The way he is with her and the way he talks about her was nothing short of sweet!
It was a pleasure to see these characters brought to life and follow through their journey🤍

firstly i want to say thank you to alicia for allowing and choosing me to read your debut book early!! i’m so grateful 🫶🏻
this book was sooo cute!! from the very first chapter/prologue you’re immediately hooked wanting to find out what’s just happened. both main characters to me were extremely likeable which made reading their story all the more fun. eleanor is such a caring and kind fmc. she has had a not so good upbringing, having to constantly fight battles with her parents to step up and look after her siblings. which obviously would be a burden on anybody, but she doesn’t let that dim her light. she keeps on pushing. and by the end of the book you can really see the emotional development that she’s been through and has come out the other end. then we have bryson. he was just amazing, and from the very first moment he laid eyes on eleanor he’s only ever wanted one thing. her!! the way he talks about her in this book was just everything and more!! as for the reasons why i gave this book 4 stars, i felt like some things were sometimes a tad over explained when they in all honesty didn’t need to be. and also as an avid advocate for someone who enjoys longer romances books, i felt like this one didn’t necessarily need to be *as* long as it was. but that’s also a preference at the end of the day, so just something to be aware of before you jump into the book. overall i really enjoyed this book, and seeing all the hard work, blood, sweat and tears alicia has put into it - i couldn’t be more proud, and i hope everyone picks it up on the 7th august and gives it a read 🙂↔️

It feels like forever I have waited for this book ever since Alicia mentioned she was writing her own book & I couldn't be more proud of her for writing such an amazing book😍
I absolutely adore Eleanor, she is an absolute angel for everything she does for her siblings & mother without even a second thought. I loved being able to see her become a more confident & powerful version of herself throughout this book, she is amazing🥹
I loved how Bryson was always keeping most things to himself, shut off & private before he finds Eleanor again & she brings out a side to him he probably thought would never happen. Managing to make him open up & acknowledge his feelings was just amazing to see🥹

I’m so grateful to have receive the advanced reader copy of this book. I would like to start off this review by expressing my gratitide for the author of this book, Alicia. Alicia was one of my first friends since I made this account in 2023 and she remains one of my best friends, she is one of the kindest and strongest people I’ve ever met. I’m so proud of how far she’s came, and it has been an honour to be apart of the process of her debut novel. I’m super proud of her and excited for her future as an author!
Regardless of my relationship with Alicia my review is completely genuine and my honest opinions of the book🫶🏻
This book is an amazing example of how a friends to lovers novel should be executed. There is so much to cover in this trope, as it focuses on a large span of time, and the attention to detail throughout this book was excellent.
The female main character Eleanor is an extremely likeable main character, she is sweet and an incredibly strong woman. She has been through a lot, and Alicia was able to capture her emotions amazingly, and really make you as the reader feel so deeply and empathetic towards Eleanor. I think Eleanors’ character represents such a meaningful message to women and girls, which is to always believe and never give up on yourself regardless of what others think of you. I’m not sure if this was Alicia’s goal for Eleanor as a character, but I really felt it as she never gave up despite all the odds against her.
Now onto the male main character Bryson, he has a hard exterior and is hard to crack, but he is definitely a lover boy deep down. I thought Bryson was a really admirable male main character as he is respectable, loyal and knows what he wants…which is Eleanor. Bryson searched and yearned for Eleanor ever since their first meeting as kids, which I really enjoyed. It was so lovely to read about a man who never gave up on his love for his woman, despite not being in contact for years and years. The rekindling in this book was amazing, and I loved how Eleanor really brightened up Brysons’ life again, and the way he treated Eleanor was so sweet, he is a true gentleman.
I thoroughly enjoyed this romance novel and the way it was executed. I highly recommend this book if you love grumpy x sunshine, second chance romance, friends to lovers, slow burn, found family and “it’s always been you” 🥹

First of all, I'm so proud of my bestie for writing and releasing this book. And im also so honored that she trusted me into reading this book before her release 🤍
This book was an absolute emotional rollercoaster, and I am still reeling from everything that happened between Eleanor and Bryson. I honestly don’t even know where to start, but the dynamic between them is just peak romance. Bryson is the ultimate gentleman, setting the bar so high with his actions, and watching their relationship unfold is honestly everything I’ve ever wanted in a love story.
What I loved most was the way they navigated their connection. The patience shown throughout the story is incredible; there was never any pressure, just plenty of space and genuine respect for each other's feelings and opinions. It’s so refreshing to see a lead who is protective and attentive, making the other feel truly seen and safe. Eleanor herself is such a strong, independent woman. Her journey is incredibly inspiring, and while the story definitely tugs at your heartstrings and has me feeling every emotion right along with her, seeing her growth and the way she finds her footing is so rewarding.
I also have to mention how wonderful Bryson’s family is. They are the literal definition of "best in-laws ever." They made Eleanor feel included from the very beginning, and there is one specific moment where they really show up for her that just completely warmed my heart.
Beyond the characters, there were so many little things that made this a five-star read. The letters between them were pure magic, and honestly, they set such a high standard. Some incredibly thoughtful, grand gestures left me swooning. Finally, the chapter titles are just so cute. They act like little hints that make you feel like you’re predicting the plot, which just makes the whole reading experience so much more fun. If you’re looking for a book that will make you laugh, cry, and swoon, this is the one. You really need to read this book cause the amount I'm obsessed with it is crazy!

He was the grumpy MMC who only had eyes for Eleanor. I was literally kicking my feet any time he interacted with her. You guys need to add Mr Smith to your book boyfriend list because he IS the standard because wow!!! He was grumpy to everyone else, but when it came to Eleanor?? He folded big time! He was so obsessed with her, my girl definitely deserved that! I loved watching him come out of his shell and becoming softer around Eleanor, it was so sweet.
This book was so much more than a contemporary romance. There was a perfect balance of romance / chemistry and the personal growth of both Eleanor and Bryson, which was absolutely lovely to read about. I really recommend you pick this book up when it is published on the 30th July 2026! The emotions of this book will have you hooked from the very beginning :)

He was the grumpy MMC who only had eyes for Eleanor. I was literally kicking my feet any time he interacted with her. You guys need to add Mr Smith to your book boyfriend list because he IS the standard because wow!!! He was grumpy to everyone else, but when it came to Eleanor?? He folded big time! He was so obsessed with her, my girl definitely deserved that! I loved watching him come out of his shell and becoming softer around Eleanor, it was so sweet.
This book was so much more than a contemporary romance. There was a perfect balance of romance / chemistry and the personal growth of both Eleanor and Bryson, which was absolutely lovely to read about. I really recommend you pick this book up when it is published on the 30th July 2026! The emotions of this book will have you hooked from the very beginning :)

The Start Of New Beginnings completely pulled me in with its emotional, nostalgic, and deeply heartfelt beginning. This is the kind of story that feels soft and hopeful on the surface, but underneath it carries so much pain, healing, and unanswered longing.
What made this book so compelling for me was the connection between Eleanor and Bryson. Their first meeting felt innocent and sweet, yet it carried a quiet intensity that made me instantly invested in them. The story builds that bond so naturally that when life pulls them apart, you can feel the weight of everything left unsaid.
I loved how the book balances romance with deeper themes of trauma, resilience, and personal growth. First off, I want to say how incredible it is that someone I know and have followed for years on bookstagram wrote an entire book! I’m so proud of Alicia, and when I heard she was sending out ARCs, I had to sign up!
For a debut author this book was really good! The Start of New Beginnings follows Elanor and Bryson, childhood friends who reconnect years later. Elanor is trying to move forward her life while dealing with her past trauma, causing her to isolate herself and keep her walls up. When Bryson suddenly walks back into her life, he knows he can’t let her get away again. But Elanor is not the girl he remembers, she’s guarded and distant. But as the two start to rebuild their friendship, Elanor starts to open up and realize maybe she is worthy of love.
I loved the tropes in this book so much! We love a man who writes love letters. The grumpy x sunshine dynamic was done perfectly, and I loved how soft and caring Bryson was with Elanor. Their relationship was so sweet, and it was so nice to see how they constantly looked out for each other in little ways. I felt so bad for Elanor as she dealt with her toxic parents and tried to move forward from her past. I also loved seeing how Elanor found her own family in people who genuinely cared about her and wanted her to succeed. Some parts could use a bit more editing, but for a debut novel it was really good!
Overall, The Start of New Beginnings is a great debut romance that touches on some heavier topics in a thoughtful and well written way.

Overall this book was pretty good especially for a young authors first book and theres also alot of emotion and complexity woven into it. I really enjoyed the emotional turmoil between the two main characters and watching them come into their own. It took me a while to adapt to the writing style of this book and I found that sometimes details were over explained and occasionally repeated. This book was also a bit insta lovey for me which could just be personal preference. Overall, I rated this book a 4 as I could tell Alicia put a lot of time and emotion into the characters and I think as she continues to write she could create some really great romance reads!

Overall this was such a sweet and loving and heartwarming book and relationship between the both main characters, Bryson & Eleanor.
Though I have to say I had a hard time getting into it and was confused at times because of the unfamiliar writing style and the writing style changing from time to time in the book.
BUT once I was into the story I WAS INTO IT AND I COULDN‘T PUT IT DOWN. Eleanors backstory was just so heartbreaking and touching I cried sometimes. But Bryson was just so loving and UGH we all need a Bryson in our life so their bond is unmatchable and I think I won‘t ever recover from this book. And ohhh, don’t forget the spice SO GOOD OMG. It was truly amazing.

I received an arc for this book so thank you for that! This book was amazing! The two characters we watch fall in love. I got lost within the pages. It is on the longer side for a romance book, but I believe that it was worth every second. Make sure to check it out when this book is out! You won’t regret it!

You should be so so proud of yourself because despite all you're going through you still found a way to create something so beautiful and its so special to have been able to read the full thing when I remember you sending me name lists and pinterest boards❤️🩹 never forget how amazing you are!
This story is so genuinely moving and cute, and everything a romance book should be, which is fitting as you're the biggest romance girl I know. I loved reading about the backstory of how the fmc Eleanor and the mmc Bryson met in the prologue because it set up the rest of the book perfectly, we got to see them lose eachother then meet again, become friends, fall hopelessly in love and become family which was so cute. I really related to Eleanor in some parts of the book which just made me like her more because I understood her and she really is such a strong girl she just needed bryson to remind her who she truly is and reading about how they both found themselves in finding eachother was so so cute I loved it. Talking of bryson Smith he is the boyfriend I think every girl needs and deserves in their life, his emotional intelligence and attention to detail was brilliant he cared so deeply for Eleanor and never let her forget it🤭💗 I really enjoyed watching these characters grow together and navigate the challenges that came their way (her parents who i HATE). Oh how I love Eleanor and Bryson's story. I can't tell you how much I loved this book. This is the first romance book l've read in such a long time where the story felt so real. I'm not sure how else to explain it. The characters, the setting, the relationships and emotions felt so real, and relatable which I really loved. I like that our main character wasn't perfect, but she doesn't need to be either. She's perfect for those around her, especially Bryson who is head over heels for this girl from the first time they meet. I love that we got a feeling of found family towards the last half of the book. I really enjoyed the writing and how it created vivid imagery of what the characters were doing, and the settings they were in.
The bond between Eleanor and Bryson was just so special and I loved every minute of it. I really loved watching Eleanor grow throughout the story, seeing her become more confident in herself was so inspiring! I highly recommend this book! It's truly such a beautiful love story with such a real romantic connection. 4.75 stars!

I was lucky enough to be given an ARC read of The Start of New Beginnings, and wow, what a debut!
This book hit so many of my absolute favorite tropes: the sweet tension of a slow burn, the deep history of friends-to-lovers, and the emotional satisfaction of a long-lost love getting a second chance.
Our main female character completely stole my heart. She is sweet, resilient, and so deeply put upon by her family. Her parents, especially her mother, have essentially emotionally starved her and shamed her for years just to keep her tethered, relying on her to run the household and care for her sisters despite her not even living with them! Watching her journey from being trapped by guilt to finding her footing was incredible. Once she reignited her relationship with the main male character, her character development was swift, empowering, and so exciting to watch.
And speaking of the MMC... he is total book-husband material. The way he loves her with pure devotion, steady protection, and absolute defense made me fall head over heels for him right along with her. Watching him stand up to her toxic parents when she had been conditioned not to was everything.
The chemistry between them was top tier! You get intense, delicious yearning, an attempt to make up for lost time and just the right amount of spice to payoff that slow burn.
The only reason I knocked off a star was the pacing in certain sections. A few areas felt a bit over-explanatory, spelling out details where it would have felt stronger to trust the reader to fill in the gaps themselves. Overall a fantastic, heart-wrenching and captivating debut. Alicia Evans is definitely an author to watch, and I will 100% be keeping an eye out for whatever she writes next!

The Start of New Beginnings was such a real, raw and relatable story. From the very beginning, I was completely hooked and couldn’t put it down. The emotions, characters and storyline felt so genuine and beautifully written. It was such an amazing read, and I found myself feeling every moment alongside the characters. A truly beautiful story that will stay with me for awhile. ❤️📖✨

They meet as teenagers, that makes an impact on them both but a tragic event separates them until years later where they meet again
We get to know them both, their story and who they are, why they are who they are. We get to know Eleanor more, but she has not had an easy upbringing so it makes sense to get to know her better.
I could relate to the part of her where she had to take care of her siblings and carry her family and it brought some tears in my eyes because it hit so close to home and the words used felt like I was understood in some way.

Like some parts they knew each other a few hours as teens and then it felt like they either went through A LOT that day or they knew each other in the club more than one day. But the overall story was really good and sweet so I would still recommend it to everyone that like a sweet romance with some heavy topics of self doubt/hate and a tuff family life, angst.
It is the authors first book so I do believe she will grow even more in the future like I have seen other authors do and I look forward to follow her journey

Before touching base on the book, I would like to first write about how the author, Alicia, is super friendly and interactive on social media. I met her in seeking for an item from a book and ever since, she has created a safe and welcoming environment in discussing books and checking in on how life is going. The Start of New Beginnings takes the readers through a beautiful romance between Eleanor Knight and Bryson Smith who find each other again after a tragic event. Eleanor and Bryson create a connection after their time apart and it was refreshing as a reader to see that the connection was instant: there were no pauses, questions, or turmoils about the relationship. Bryson was the epitome of how magical a relationship can be: with the love letters for Eleanor to the thoughtful and grand gestures that helped Eleanor see how strong and powerful she can become. There are heartbreaking scenes within Eleanor and her parents based on the tragic event but I loved how Bryson was there to remind her that only her heart is what matters. Both couple uplift and empower each other and as I mentioned to Alicia when I finished the book, it was truly refreshing to see two couples communicate to avoid any issues within the relationship.
I cannot wait to see what other projects Alicia has up her sleeves!
