In a village where your clan holds all the power, what do you do when your future is being stolen by the people you should trust?
Elara thought the ritual would be her escape plan - little did she know everything she thought she understood about her world was wrong.
When an untitled book acquired at the market begins revealing hidden text under her touch, the quiet facade of Clan Blackwood shatters. Between parasitic rune-craft draining life force, cold ash constructs watching from the dark, and family secrets buried for decades, Elara begins to realise she may never have known her family's past quite as well as she thought.
Sometimes the people who claim to protect you are the ones you should be most afraid of.
Finding Wildfire is a dark, gripping fantasy tale about family bonds, hidden power, and what happens when the children everyone expects to obey begin to uncover the truth.
Babs Rudlin is an award-winning fantasy author (small awards, but awards nonetheless) dedicated to crafting immersive, low-spice worlds filled with deep mystery, captivating mythical creatures, and rich, character-driven stakes. Babs’s short fiction has achieved critical acclaim, earning third place in the Station Books Writing Contest and first place in the PING Anthology, where she was incredibly proud to win ARC reader accolades for 'Creepiest Story' and 'Personal Favourite' for Early Access. Her work is also featured in the upcoming autumn 2026 anthology, The Queen Arrayed in Gold and Other Myths and Legends.
When she isn't weaving intricate plots or building fantastical worlds, Babs can be found writing from her home in Essex, UK, usually accompanied by her two miniature schnauzers, who serve as excellent (if occasionally distracting) writing assistants.
