Feeding from the fae is met with a death sentence.
Poppy loves her little life—brewing coffee and reading copious amounts of romantasy books while making magic spells, teas, and salves. Ever since moving from Etheriel to the human realm, she has found peace with her siblings in the Garden District. That is until her racing mind has her dragging a stranger from the street to help her with a little measuring experiment. Silly books.
Davyan has just taken power after challenging the former master of the city. His hold is tenuous at best, but he won’t stop until his people are in line. The Collective is watching, after all. His focus is clear until she pulls him into her shop and her world. That’s when everything changes.
Their connection is so strong they can’t seem to stay away from each other. There is just one problem. He is a vampire, and she is fae. The Collective laws are clear. It is forbidden for him to feed from her. Can they ignore the pull to break the laws? Or will they allow the law to break them apart?
Through the haze of their desperation lies another threat that neither of them sees until it’s too late.
Cherron Riser was born in Dothan, Alabama on November 2, 1983. With her family being military, she spent a lot of her early childhood traveling all over the country, giving her a lot of new and different experiences, she would not otherwise have been given. When she turned ten, however, her family settled in the small town of Ozark, Alabama where she finished her high school career.
After high school, Cherron began college, however, was soon forced to drop out to take care of her family. She is the mother of two wonderful children, and they provide a source of inspiration for Cherron’s work. In 2013 Cherron returned to school to finish what she had started all those years ago, and in 2021 she graduated.
All through her life Cherron has been drawn to the arts. As a child she danced and sang all the time, often driving her family crazy. During middle school, a group of friends and Cherron started "The Outcast" a club established for building a love of writing. Once the club was formed, Cherron was never seen without a spiral notebook and pen. She wrote daily, developing silly stories for her friends. After high school, Cherron began to write more serious stories and develop more original plot lines. It is a talent and love Cherron has developed over the years, filling her computer with story after story.
As an author, Cherron began her career as a self-published author in March of 2015. She gives a lot of credit to her family and friends for inspiring her characters and worlds and looks forward to showing them to all of her readers in the near future. Cherron can often be seen at conventions, both for readers and for geeks, as she is and will always be a geek herself, and proud of it.
A simple bite can have lethal consequences but our vampire fights the temptation. But… what if he didn’t? Is the bliss and love that come with it worth it? Oh but Poppy is determined. While her all powerful princely brother may refuse to make an exception to his laws…Poppy is fiery and not easily swayed.
I was delightfully pleased to get an advanced copy of Poppy. I was not expected to immediately relate to a character as she whips out a measuring tape to measure a complete stranger….I was so delighted that our main character Poppy also tries to think through the logistics of the books she reads ;). As a book reading enthusiast, I too tend to think certain book scenes out.
I was instantly pulled in. This book is fast paced. It is filled with paranormal beings like vampires and fae. I thoroughly enjoyed how our fae character, Poppy, was described. From her personality, her character description, her very unfiltered self is so carefree and full of life. She is innocent and playful. Then we have a mysterious vampire that is smitten. We have forbidden and deadly love… yes literally. We have plenty of spice and a magical world that left me wanting to take a stroll to the Garden District. Before you enter this paranormal world, it would benefit you to turn that brain off while reading. Don’t question it. Just enjoy the ride and be mindful that beautiful things all have a bite.
I was given this book as an advanced copy. If you love the Fae and vampires, then this book is for you. Poppy a young girl loves reading and brewing coffee in her little shop with her head in the clouds most of the day Davyon a mysterious, sexy vampire full of power and it’s feared. The two should never have formed a connection never mind fall in love. Will they be able to overcome the obstacles in store for them? Well, they’re forbidden passion be enough. I enjoyed following Davyon and poppy’s story and can’t wait for the next book
I enjoyed the true blood vibes I got from this book. I give it a 3🌶️. The mmc is Davian, who is a vampire who desires the fmc in ways that can make life very dangerous. The fmc is poppy and she is a fae.
Tropes: vampire versus fae, forbidden love, touch her and die, fated mates, kidnapping and friends betrayal.
The bantering between poppy and Davyan is amazing. The two species are fighting each other too. Will davyan be able to resist his desire for poppy or will one bite doom them both?
Poppy sounds like an enchanting romantasy filled with magic, forbidden attraction, and supernatural tension. The connection between Poppy and Davyan creates an intriguing conflict, especially with the laws separating their worlds and the danger surrounding them. It promises a compelling blend of romance, fantasy, and unexpected twists for readers who enjoy magical love stories.
Such a good book I really love the characters. Poppy seems so sweet and innocent, but she was a little bad ass in her own way and a fae princess. Davyan 😍 he sounded like the kind of man I would let bite me 😘
Poppy is a pie in the sky perky Fae and Davyan is the new Master Vampire in town. Vampires and Fae tolerate each other they don’t fall for each other. These two are total opposites yet love will not be denied. Poppy is a well told tale of the power of love.
