Greta and the Lost Army, What an incredible climax to the Mylena Chronicles!

After battling to survive in Mylena, Greta, the boys and the Goblin King Isaac are all transported back into the human earth realm. To say it’s an adjustment is an understatement, Greta in an attempt to reunite the stolen children with their parents returns to her parents and the life she left behind. Acclimating back into the life she dreamed of returning to is much harder than Greta ever imagined.

Now Greta must decide her life path. Return to Mylena, the battle with the demon and be with the one she loves or stay with her family, safety and the life of her dreams.

I’ve followed this series from the beginning and have been with Greta every step of the way. Greta’s character is about to make more leaps and bounds and boy, am I glad I’ve been along for the ride.

Chloe Jacobs has created a dark and desperate world in need of a savior and masterfully grouped together unexpected heroes and heroines to rally in that roll. I flat out loved it. It entertained, I became emotionally connected and most of all I didn’t want it to end. @YABookShelf

I received this ARC copy of Greta and the Lost Army from Entangled Publishing, LLC - Entangled: Teen in exchange for a honest review. This book is set for publication Feb. 1, 2016.

What a conclusion! Series conclusions always make me nervous, because there is just so much you want to happen, but Greta and the Lost Army delivered in every single way. I have loved this series and I’m so sad that I have to say goodbye but I say goodbye in the most content way possible. This was a solid conclusion and I devoured it. The moment I started reading I did not stop until I was done.

Greta is such a fantastic heroine and I love that this is her story. She is the main driver and the one who saves the day. She is willing to go to extreme lengths and she never thinks of giving up. I love how much she has grown over the course of the series and I loved watching her come to realize how strong she really is.

Of course I adore Isaac. I think it’s safe to say I’m one of his biggest fan girls and my oh my did he deliver. I mean, I’ve always love him but he outdid himself in this one and I was super happy with how much Isaac we got in this book. I think my favorite thing about Isaac… aside from his swoon… is how he complements Greta. He knows she is strong and can take care of herself and while he is protective he never tries to hold her back. He helps her and they work as a team and most importantly he believes in her and knows she has to potential to do great things. That is so important.

I also love our secondary characters. I really warmed up to Wyatt and Siona is so fierce! Of course the villain is creepy and I hate him, which is exactly how it should be.

The world building is another thing I love. Mylena feels so real and I can visualize it so well! And the way Chloe blended our world with Mylena in this one was fantastic. It was a great balance between the two. Then we have the plot, which had my stomach in knots. For the last ten percent I really thought I was going to be sick I was so damn nervous. I was freaking out! And I need to have a special shout out for the prologue and the last line of the book. The prologue was everything! And the last line was the PERFECT way to close out the series.

Greta and the Lost Army was a fantastic conclusion and I am so sad that I have to say goodbye to Greta and Isaac. This is a series that fantasy fans need to add to their TBR. You will not be disappointed.

Conclusions! I hate letting go. I'm actually really BAD at letting things go. I mean if I enjoy it why should it ever end? (Reasons why I should never be allowed to have control over anything ever). I really don't want to lose Greta and Issac? I want to watch them do more ridiculous and silly thing together.

Except...well Jacobs gives them a final concluding book that makes me want to let them have a break and laze around for a while.

First, if like me you missed Issac in the 2nd Book (GRETA AND THE GLASS KINGDOM) don't worry--lots of Issac! Part of Greta's troubles begin and end with whether she can actually make a go of it with Issac. Sure when she was in Mylena, with no real hope of returning home, becoming his Queen sounded feasible. They love each other, he promised not to tie her down and really she could get a lot accomplished as his Queen.

But she returned home at the end of Book 2. She now has to face her parents, the time she's lost, the ability to regain everything she ever told Issac she wanted to get back to. If she gives up Issac.

I was in this mainly for her struggle--my main staple of reading was portal fantasy novels and its continued to this day. Countless hours have gone by in which I try to figure out whether I could give everything and everyone up for whatever the other life offered. Maybe I could? Its so hard to say. So Greta's struggle here was of real interest to me. Honestly both sides of the argument could be made--obviously she could remain in her world, adapt to being a normal human and living life out that way. Eventually her time in Mylena would be regulated to the back of her life and treated almost like veterans treat their tours of duty.

Oh she'd have regrets, primarily over Issac and all the people she could have helped, but at the end of the day, after a few years had passed, it would have faded to memory like so much else.

Agramon, the villain with more lives than Rasputin, makes his final play here and this is something I've long admired about both Greta and this series--Greta does not hesitate when the chips are down and things need doing. Whether or not she was going to return to Mylena and stay there, she wouldn't leave that world hanging. She's a hero, in every sense of the word.

Did I enjoy this book? Yes. I can't be read alone (omg why would you?!) and I recommend tissues if you at all feel invested in Greta and Issac (there are some...tense moments guys), but so very worth it.

Greta has come so far since the beginning of this series with Greta and the Goblin King. While there is a lot to love about this book, much of them spoilery, my favourite part is her changing belief in what is possible. Throughout this entire book, she's struggled with doubts over a lot of different things, but her abilities and those of the rest of the characters is incredible.

Fans of the Labyrinth should totally check out this series! I loved it!

Isaac stopped her at the bottom of the stairs with a crooked smile. "I would wish you sweet dreams, but how can they be memorable if I won't be in them?"

GRETA AND THE LOST ARMY by Chloe Jacobs is the awesome conclusion to the author's Mylena Chronicles, an epic New Adult (NA) urban fantasy trilogy. It is set in parallel universes - Earth's and Mylena's. I was originally drawn to this series because I'm a fan of David Bowie's portrayal of the goblin king in Labyrinth. I'm sad because this book marks the end of this series, but happy to report that it totally rocks! The ending was pure perfection! It left me laughing, swooning, and wiping away a few happy tears.

Be forewarned that this series should be read in order to be fully enjoyed. This installment grabbed me from the very beginning. The included prologue was wonderful as it catapulted me back into the world of Mylena quickly refreshing my memory as to what had previously occurred.

This installment picked up right where the second book had left us with Greta about to knock on the door of her childhood home after having been missing for years. I found the first half's pacing to be a bit slow, but it was integral to the story and it more than compensated emotionally as Greta and her family experienced a heartfelt reunion. If you crave danger and excitement, the story's second half was explosive with non-stop, fast-paced, thrilling action that kept me biting my nails with bated breath for what was coming next.

Following please find a few of my favorite quotes:

"I am the goblin king," he said with a shrug. "Tell your people this and demand that they help us find the portal back to Mylena."
Wyatt started to laugh like a frickin' hyena, which made Greta groan again.
---
"We're three people against a crazed faerie queen merged with a demon who controls an army of gnomes. What could happen?"
---
"If everything was easy, we'd never know for sure when we've achieved greatness."

If you are a fan of David Bowie's performance in The Labyrinth, this series should be a must-read. You will love it! The storyline is imaginative, the characters are inspiring and the characters' individual struggles are dramatic and breathtaking. The fantasy world of Mylena is imaginatively incredible as the author paints each scene with a life-like touch. In addition to our swoon-worthy goblin king hero and our fiery spitfire human heroine, there are goblins, witches, demons, gnomes, sprites, fairies, and more! If you haven't delved into this series yet, and you enjoy wonderfully entertaining epic fantasies featuring young, tough, uplifting, adventurous heroes, you totally should pick it up. Your timing for starting the series is perfect now that the whole series is available and there are no cliffhanger ending worries.

When I finished the last sentence, I emailed Ms Jacobs and said "oh my God!!" I mean what do you say to the ending of a trilogy that was one of the best I've ever read. First, in the beginning, it was the world building and creativity of characters and creatures. Now, in the end, it's the great depth of characters that I am desperately holding on to!! I completely love Isaac, Greta, Siona, and Wyatt. And ps, I know a little secret but I can't tell you :) just know this- there's always hope for everyone!!! :) This book has been everything I've been waiting for and more!!! I am not gunna lie, I seriously cheered hardcore for that one moment, when everything falls into place and it's finally all about Chloe and Isaac, as people and a couple, not all their baggage and responsibility. The romance was building to this moment and I can't believe how excellently written it really was!! And the ending- the actual last chapter, I swear I cried happy tears, but there's some bitter sweet moments I could help either.

I love a lot of the characters but things are really different when the myleneans go to Greta's world. They don't understand a lot. And I really really got sad, it almost didn't make that HEA for Greta and Isaac. There's so much that is meant to tear them apart. And I really loved how Greta realized who she was, what she was, and where she really needed to be. And that she can stand on her own, but it's always nice to have two best friends and an excellent boyfriend to back you up ;)

Isaac... Sweet baby Jesus, he's every woman's perfect book boyfriend. He's the best of everything... Protective but understanding to her independence and accomplishments, sweet and yet fierce, strong but gentle, and sexy as all get out!! You know, I almost didn't like him in the beginning of the series. But of course he won me over, just like he does everyone else. He's Greta's perfect other half. And he's a freaking goblin king!!!

And just because we're in the human world doesn't mean the bad guy is less important. Agramon is just as freaking scary, or more so!! He's the perfect creepy bad guy!! And Greta and Isaac must save not just Mylena now but the human Earth Too!! I am completely fascinated by the beautiful creation of this whole world!! I was so sorry for Greta in the beginning for being there but every step led her to now and this is where she is destined to be. Oh oh and I can't forget, everyone must read the prologue- we finally get Isaac's back story!!!!! And the end.... Big big big smiles!!! And I'm saying goodbye.... For now... ;) I can't say this enough- don't miss out on this trilogy, it's completely phenomenal!!!! Infinite PAWS!!! It's deserved- but the scales only allow me 5 LOL!!!

My Review

I fall hard for this series when I picked up the first book and meet the fierce and stubborn Greta, and the strong and proud Isaac. Who knew how much I would come to love them and their world, but I did. I fall hard, and it is such a bittersweet moment to say goodbye.

This book was an astounding adventure and gripping tale of a world covered in ice and filled with mystical creatures of all shapes and sizes. Watching both Greta and Isaac grow throughout the book and this series brings a tear to my eye at how well and beautifully they have progressed. And I’m very proud of who they became at the end of the book.

Greta and Isaac have really come a long way since the first book. Though there were a few obstacles left for them to overcome personally, I was very proud of their growth. Greta, still unsure of where she belongs, definitely did struggle at the beginning, but as events unfolded I was happy to see her finally find her place. Though she will always remain that stubborn, headstrong fighter I first came to love (which I’m so very happy about). Then there is Isaac. He really turned up the heat in this book. Sweet and so very endearing. I loved being able to see this other, softer side of him. I felt he grew the most in this book, finally opened up and finally showed all sides of him. Though he is still that short-tempered, stubborn Goblin King I first met and fell in love with.

The book did flow at a fast pace, as well as the development of the plot and the events, but I enjoyed the constant movement of the book. Though the detail is light within the depiction of the characters’ surroundings, it’s heavy with their emotions. That’s why I connected with this book. The characters felt so vivid and so very real when it came to the depth of their emotions. Though I loved the world that Jocabs created, it was the characters, their strife, their struggle, their overall growth that made me love this series.

I can’t forget the secondary characters. I’ve come to love some of them just as much as the main characters and was really happy to see them as well and watch them grow along with Greta and Isaac. Watching everything unfold, watching them come to that final battle, it was both heartbreaking and breathtaking. I couldn’t wait to see what would happen next.

Greta and the Lost Army was filled with moments that made me hold my breath in anticipation and also left me breathless in the best ways possible. A stunning and wonderful conclusion to a series I have come to really love.

As always, Chloe Jacobs rocked it with Greta and the Lost Army. No joke, with just this one series she has managed to place herself in my top ten favorite writers. And she totally has also made me see the light on goblins. Brace yourselves people because I predict goblins are going to be the next vampires. Well, they will be if they're all like Isaac anyway (can you say yummy?).

I love Greta. What's more is that I've loved her all the way through the series, something that is incredibly rare from me when it comes to YA novels. She's a kick butt, take no holds kind of character and she remains that way from start to finish. She knows who she is and what she wants. When she makes the decision to stay, she sticks with it.

Isaac tries to convince to stay in the human world at one point and she says "Love me enough to trust me to make my own choices."

Isaac is also a character I can respect a great deal, with his devotion to his people and the respect he gives Greta as an equal. "He hadn't asked her to hide away, because he believed in her." He treats Greta as an equal, not as a damsel in distress that he need to save. So often in YA novels the heroine starts out as this kick butt badass but turns into a wimp that the hero has to save. Not Greta and Isaac.

Beyond the romance there's a beautiful friendship that develops between Greta and Siona. I especially enjoy this as Siona is essentially learning the concept of what a friend is.

"You have never abandoned me or shunned me."
"I think that means we're friends."

This series is one I'll happily revisit again and again. The characters are engaging and the plot is action packed. I'll also be looking out for any future books from Chloe Jacobs.

Overall Rating: 5
Would I recommend it to a friend? Absolutely
Would I buy it? Yep
Would I read it again? Already planning on it

I received a copy of this book for free in exchange for my unbiased review of it.

When I first read the synopsis of this book I was interested, but when I started reading this book I got a bit thrown. This was my first time reading any of the books of this series and so I thought that it might be a stand alone that would bring everything together for me and that I'd know what was going on as I read a long...well, not so much. So I advise this...if you have NOT read the other two books in this series first then go back and read those first before reading this book!
As I read this story in the beginning it was hard for me to get engaged because I kept wondering...what happened to lead this? What happened before this? How did they get there? Who are these other characters? But as I got further into the story it grabbed me and had me becoming more and more engaged in it. When at the beginning I wasn't that impressed with the story by the end I was fully into it and was eager to find out what happened. I really enjoyed reading about Greta and how she managed to get what she thought she wanted, to come home, but only to find that what she genuinely wanted was something else. I would have liked to have learned what happened to the faery twins after the war but that was something left out. But I have to say that where I was originally on the fence about my review of this book in the middle of reading it by the end I knew that this was a good book and I am even going back and going to read the first two books in the series so that I can have a full picture of everything that happened and have a full appreciation of the series as a whole.
The author did a really job with this story and I look forward to reading the other two books in this series very soon. I would definitely recommend this series to friends who enjoy reading about strong female characters.

Adventure. Love. Self discovery. All of these come together in an exquisite final tale between Greta and her Goblin King.

From the beginning I knew I'd be fighting an inner battle right along with Greta. After all, that's what Chloe Jacob's writing does to you. She pulls you in and makes you feel as if you are one with the heroine. Greta has had numerous trials in Mylena, but has finally found a way back to her family, bringing Isaac with her. Her plan is to return all of the lost children home and then return with Isaac to Mylena to continue the battle against Agramon. The longer she stays with her parents and in the world she was brought up in, however, the more confused she gets. It would be so easy to stay here in this safe haven, but could she really give up Isaac and let everyone in Mylena down? Isaac and Greta have faced many challenges, but this time one decision could change it all.

Chloe Jacob's storytelling sucks you in. While there is obviously a strong love element, there is an equal amount of adventure. I adore the way Chloe weaves inner struggles and outward obstacles together, fantasy realms with human realms, all without confusion. If you loved Greta and Isacc's playfulness in the previous two stories, you will not be disappointed in this one. The same playfulness and adventure awaits them both in this final installment. I am still and forever will be Team Isaac.

*My Thoughts*

Greta and the Lost Army is the third and final installment in the Mylena Chronicles. Warning! If you have not read the previous two novels (Greta and the Goblin King & Greta and the Glass Kingdom), please stop, and go back to the beginning so that you can truly enjoy the story, world building, and characters that author Chloe Jacobs has created. 17-year old Greta Scott is the narrator, and protagonist of this trilogy. 4 years ago while trying to save her brother Max from a witch’s fire, Greta found herself in the ice and snowy world of Mylena where humans are bad news. It is a place where ogres, ghoul, goblins, and fairies have dark sides that come out during an eclipse.

Greta, Issac, and their companions are now in the human world, but Issac is anxious to return to Mylena to stop Agramon. Greta might've reunited with her family, but it's hard to adjust to life as a regular human girl after being a fierce, independent warrior for four years. Now Greta is torn in two and she must make a decision that will change her life for good. In this conclusion to the Mylena Chronicles, decisions are made for good or worse, love is tested, and a battle is fought to free a world and save countless others in the process. Greta and Issac didn't disappoint.

received this eARC from the publisher, via Netgalley, in exchange for an honest review. I was in no way compensated for this review.

The long awaited finale to Chloe Jacobs’ Mylena Chronicles is here at last!! Greta and the Lost Army brings us an amazing and shocking and heartrending ending to the trilogy that grabbed me from the pages from the getgo.

When we last saw Greta, she, the “lost boys”, Siona, and Isaac had managed to return to her world. But the battle is far from over, while they all needed to return to the world Greta once called home, she knows that she, Siona, and Isaac will have to go back to Mylena and defeat Agramon once and for all. But, for the meantime, she feels good to be home.

Naturally, there was a heartfelt reunion between Greta and her parents, though her brother Drew was a little shell-shocked at her arrival and was kind of MIA for her stay. Which was sad in a way. It’s been too long since I read the first book, because I can’t remember how old Drew was when he was almost taken and Greta rescued him and how old he should be now. He’s obviously school age, but I felt like he should’ve been around more than he was, even if he was a minor character.

Greta helps all the boys reconnect with their parents and sees them all home. It was an amazing feeling for her. Only Isaac and Siona remain, for even Wyatt went back home. And soon enough she had to see them off to a foster family, because her parents weren’t able to take care of them as well. It was a bit odd to see everyone disbanding so early on, yet I can understand in some sense that Greta’s parents want to rebuild their family without having new members thrown temporarily in.

For the first half of the book we basically watch Greta try to adapt to human life again. For four years she lived a very different kind of life, and now she’s suddenly expected to go back to the way things were before. She and the boys told her parents a variation of the truth, minus the “other world” part because the last thing they needed was to have to deal with psychologists as well.

Greta struggles to decide whether she wants to go back or not as well. At first, she was all willing to go back to Mylena with Isaac to save his kingdom, but then she starts adapting to her old life for a bit, and wonders, would it be so bad to stay?

Although you do suspect, that at some point she will go back to Mylena, we still have Agramon to deal with. And that’s what the second half of the novel deals with. And what a battle of struggles it was!

Pacing wise, I’d say that the first half was a little slow. I mean, it was filled with great family style moments and all, but there was little else going on. When we return to Mylena, that’s when the action really starts happening as Greta and Isaac start to build their army to take down the enemy. And then that ending…omg…I was scared for a bit! Totally scared! No matter how many times you try to tell yourself that Ending A is likely going to play out, there’s always the possibility of seeing Ending B or some other such letter! But with the way the ending came about, you realize that Greta made the right decision.

I am already sad to see this series come to an end! It has such a Labyrinth feel to it when I first started the series and I still can’t help but see a little of Jareth in Isaac, and what with David Bowie’s passing just a few weeks ago, I’m still left a little melancholy over everything!

The romance was spot on! I love Isaac! He loves Greta so deeply and with his whole heart! He’s totally swoonworthy. And the moments he and Greta share together always leave me grinning like a lovesick fool! And the romance isn’t even a key point in the story. Yes, Greta and Isaac are in love, but they have a kingdom to save and they are actively trying to do that. So seeing them steal a few moments alone together just makes it all the more gushy and swoony! Lol!

Greta is definitely a headstrong heroine! She’s gutsy and brave, and yet still totally human. She bleeds easily and whatnot but that never stops her from fighting for what she wants and you gotta love her tenacity!

Greta and the Lost Army was a truly fitting end to the series! It’s a magical and extraordinary read and I am happy to have read it!

Chloe Jacobs brings readers the conclusion to a great series with the last book in the Mylena Chronicles, Greta and the Lost Army. This series is a combination of paranormal teen fiction with a touch of science fiction and fantasy thrown in. Greta is a strong, young heroine who is faced with a choice of returning to her family on Earth or staying with the boy she loves in a world where danger is around every corner. Readers who like a plethora of paranormal character from goblins to witches, fairies and gnomes, will find this one right up their alley.

What I liked:

With any title that is remotely paranormal or science fiction related the world building has to be spot on. The author has to be able to create a world or a mythology that speaks to the reader. I think this especially important with teen fiction, because if you screw it up, they aren't afraid to let you know it. The world that Chloe Jacobs has created for the Mylena Chronicles is vivid and somewhat dark. There are both monsters and villains and an air of urgency. The world of the Goblin King is no fairy tale place and Jacobs does a fantastic job with description and attention to detail. You would have to be strong to live in a place like and Greta is certainly that.

Greta has been a great heroine for this series. She is strong and hard headed. Her independence is everything to her and she knows how to handle herself in a dangerous situation. But in her heart, she is still just a young girl, in love with a boy, who misses her family and an easier way of life. I was glad that the author gave Greta a choice in what her life would be. This book is a lot about love but it's also about trust and faith and knowing where you belong. A coming of age story in the guise of adventure tale if ask me! Well done...

Isaac as usual, was my favorite character. Just the lines of dialogue that Jacobs gives him is enough to make readers swoon. He is so eloquent and poised. He reminds me somewhat of Ash from the Iron Fey series. He understands Greta. He gets her and that's so important in any relationship. I love these two together. There is no push and pull with their relationship. There is a lot of mutual respect and understanding of each other abilities and quirks, good and bad. Just a great relationship for a teen novel.

Since this was the conclusion of the series, I was expecting a lot of unanswered questions to be settled and I was really happy that the author didn't leave too much to chance. But she did leave an opening for more stories from the Mylena world, whether they be short stories or even a novella or two. Don't think I could ever get too much Isaac, what a great leading boy/man.

What I didn't like:

There were moments of predictability in this one, but they were not overwhelming. I thought there could have been a little more depth in a couple of the side relationships and I was not completely sold on the reaction of Greta's parents to her return after so long. I mean the reunion was nice, but needed a bit more realism. If your daughter was missing and showed up with a lover in tow, who happened to be a Goblin King... that might be a little hard to swallow... LOL!

Bottom Line:

This was great series. I'm sad that it's over but have hope we will still hear from these characters again at some point. Greta and Isaac got the ending I was hoping for and Mylena is still the same place it's always been. There were tons of paranormal characters which can be confusing in some books but not in this one and there was a lot of soul searching and a ton of action... Did I mention the bad guy was phenomenal? Probably had a great demonic laugh going on. A very good conclusion to a great series. Greta and Lost Army may be a teen book, but most of the adults I know would love it!

This review and more can be found at The A P Book Club!

I loved the first two books in this series. They're full of gorgeous world-building, incredible story-telling, and characters that I never want to leave behind. I was a little nervous going in to this book, because is it even possible to top all of that? Yes. The answer is a resounding yes. Chloe Jacobs managed to write a conclusion to this epic story that is everything I hoped it would be, and more!

This book is split between Earth and Mylena. We get to meet Greta's family and see how they've been dealing with her disappearance, and now we get to see how they deal with her return. It was nice to see a different side of Greta - the side where she isn't a hunter, afraid for her life just because she's a human in a world where humans are hated, and where she has no real responsibilities other than going to high school. It's not the Greta we've come to know and love, but it is a Greta that existed once and might have existed if she hadn't been swept away to Mylena.

Of course, things wouldn't seem right if everything stayed nice and easy! Mylena is under attack from the demon who started everything in the first place, and Isaac and Siona are desperate to return to save their people. I really enjoyed the wordplay with the title once we get back to Mylena - the "Lost Army" definitely has more than one meaning, and I loved how significant Greta's part was in reuniting the goblin army. Even though she's only a human and has no magick anymore, she's still just as important and powerful as any of the natives.

And we can't forget Isaac, because he just keeps getting better and better. I'm so, so sad that we don't get to see any more of him, because he's such a great character. He's kind and loving, but he knows when to be firm and how to rule a kingdom. He's willing to sacrifice so much for Greta and his people, but they're also willing to give everything for him. Isaac is the perfect complement to Greta - he makes her stronger and supports her when she needs it most. He also knows how to calm her down and let her make her own decisions.

I could really go on and on about how incredible this series, and this book in particular are, but you should really just read them for yourself! Especially if you're looking for a romantic YA fantasy. This was a perfect series ending, and the last line... I don't think anything else would have been so perfect! I am very much looking forward to seeing what Chloe Jacobs writes next, and it will be on my TBR as soon as I see it! 5/5 for sure.

In this book we have the showdown. Agramon vs. Greta and Isaac. here we see so much growth to all the characters.

Greta still has doubts about her relationship with Isaac and where she belongs. but over time she learns who she is and what she wants. Isaac goes from being a king in title to being a true King heart, mind and attitude. We always knew he loved his people and Greta but in this book we see him as the person he is in all aspects. We see his love and determination. Kindness and patience. but also we see his strength and intelligence. He fights for everything he believes in. He fought for Greta even when she thought he didn’t. He fought for Sionna even after she betrayed him. He forgave and moved on. Showed understanding and compassion for everyone. He was a true king and became one in this book.

this is the story of Greta, Isaac and Sionna finding their way. Learning how to live in the human world and discovering who they are. Finding the strength to become stronger and adults. To support one anothre and love each other. This is the story of their fight to save Mylena. The battle to free the people and take back the land. To unite all the different races and get rid of the fear and prejudice. This is the story of finding love, determination, growth and yourself. For Sionna she found Wyatt and that she belonged where she was. That she had acceptance already and that no matter what Isaac would be there. She found her path and grew to be a more understanding person. For Wyatt he found love and where he was meant to be as did Greta. Greta path was more difficult. She needed to see that Isaac’s love wasn’t blinding or one to run from but embrace. She learned where she belonged and found strength and courage through the love and support Isaac gave her. She saw that her family would love her no matter what. She learned to be strong and that it didn’t matter what people thought they deserved to be free and so did she.

This was well written full of danger and love. You felt the emotions of Isaac and how he loved his people and Greta. You saw his sacrifices for love and how he grew to be king. The writing drew you in but the characters and what they were going through kept you enthralled. This is the story of how Greta and Isaac became king and queen and found freedom for Mylena. How their love and acceptance of everyone freed others and gave them strength to fight for themselves and a free Mylena.

I received a free copy of Greta and the Lost Army by Chloe Jacobs from the publisher in return for an honest review. The opinions expressed are my own.

First off, let me just say that I LOVED this series! It was fast-paced, dark, desperate, and sucked me completely in. Jacobs did an excellent job making you feel as if you were one with the heroine. If you haven’t read the first two books in the series, Greta and the Goblin King and Greta and the Glass Kingdom, I suggest reading those before this one. The story is much better when you have the whole story!

Greta had some excellent character development! She is a strong, fierce, stubborn, and determined character. In this book, she had moments where she felt conflicted. As she struggled, you struggled right along with her. In the end, I feel like everything worked out for her.

Isaac, the Goblin King, is strong and a little proud. But it suits him. He would do anything for Greta, even going to Earth. But he also knows that she can take care of herself, and he lets her.

The romance between Greta and Isaac in this book is a bit more relaxed and playful. There was also more of it in the book. I didn’t mind though. They complimented each other well.

There is a moment where Drew talks with Greta and her parents, and I don’t want to give any spoilers, but I’m so glad that moment happened! I was wondering what happened with Drew and what he thought about everything.

It was a great conclusion for the Mylena Chronicles. It felt as if Greta could finally take a breath at the end of the book, and in turn, I took a breath with her!

I received an e-ARC copy of Greta and the Lost Army from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This was a satisfying ending to Greta’s story.

Greta, Isaac, Siona, Wyatt and the lost boys are on earth. Arriving near her hometown Greta takes them to her parent’s house. With her parent’s trying to pigeonhole her back into the life she left and Isaac impatient to get back to Mylena, Greta must make a choice. Does she stay in the home that she’s been trying to get back to for four year or does she go back to the land where she will always be and outsider but she has a place. The demon is sending her dreams of fire and death and Greta knows that it’s not over and it’s her world at stake too.

I was really happy with this book. I felt like it wrapped things up. I did like the priority was to get the lost boys back to their parents and that it was hard. Also that Greta’s parents really just wanted her to fit back into the life that she left and that she couldn’t decided if she wanted to give it up. Greta’s actions made sense and I feel that she was consistent in her choices.

I will admit though, I couldn’t wait for them to get back to Mylena. Earth is so very boring compared to battles they had been fighting. Isaac was good and I loved that he is so fascinated by mechanical stuff and he wants to bring it back to Mylena. The Siona and Wyatt thing worked for me in this book. I liked it a lot.

The ending worked for me. It all worked for me.

So happy ending all around.

I have to admit that this book, which is the third in the series, is probably best received after you have read the first two books in this series. I have not read the other two and I am sad that I haven't. I had to catch up to what was going on in the series.

I fell in love with Greta and the other characters really quickly and found that the story kept my attention quiet well. Greta, Isaac and Siona go back to visit Greta's home all while knowing that eventually they are going to have to return to the Mylena world to defeat Agramon. With this in the back of her mind, Greta is just trying to enjoy being back home and seeing her family that she thought she would never see again.

Greta has to learn how to adapt to the human world again after being away for four years, but eventually she does. Once she adapts, Greta has huge doubts about returning to Mylena to deal with what she is supposed to deal with, Agramon. After much back and forth, Greta decides that she has to do what is expected of her. Greta's character was such a strong heroine. I loved that about her.

This was a very good read, but I think I could have enjoyed it a little more having read the previous books in the series first. The ending was so great and I know that I would have felt even stronger about it had I read the whole series. There was just enough romance in this story to keep you going. Nothing over the top and I liked that for a YA novel!

If you like sci-fi, long odds, sweet romance, magic and fighting then this book is for you! This is not a standalone, but it is the first I read of the series and I was sucked in immediately. The writing style is enticing and CJ uses her vocabulary like a true artist. While this was the third book in the chronicles, it provides enough information to understand the world, the situation, the different alliances, and obstacles.

Some of the scenes were emotionally wrenching, some were hilarious and some were nail-biting (talk about some huge shows of trust!!) Parts of the story were a bit predictable, but not in a bad way, just in a yes that is what we thought should and would happen. I hope there is another book or spin off because I want to know what happens to Wyatt, Siona, and Dryden...especially Dryden! I found this book to be captivating and I read it in one sitting. I could not wait to see what happened and how this odd pairing of friends/loves would or would not work out. Lastly, this cover is just beautiful. Through the cover I got a sense of what Mylena must look like/be like. Wouldn't it be cool if we learned more about Dryden and got a cover of what Mylena now looks like? fingers crossed!

MAY CONTAIN SPOILER:

This book was full of twists and so much fun that I never expected.

This book is about a human girl named Greta who has been stuck in a whole different world where goblins, demons, and fairies are real. Greta has tried every possible way there is to get back home to the human world. Greta has to fall in love, let a demon out to destroy Mylena all in the process of getting back home. However, she is so used to Mylena that she just has to go back to fight to save Mylena from the demon she let loose. Can she pull it off and save Mylena with the friends she has made and keep the person she loves by her side?

I didn't like this one as much as the others in the trilogy. I felt like it was slow to start and they spent too much meaningless time in the human world at the begining.

I am so happy to have discovered the Mylena Chronicles! There are no words to express how satisfied Chloe Jacobs has made me with her absolutely PERFECT ending. The entire trilogy was beautifully done and there was so much progress in the writing style, the characters, even the STORY with each book that I read.

Greta was such a huge character for me, not just because she's the main character, but because she underwent a HUGE obstacle - herself and her doubts - and came out as a champion in the end. Greta has to be one of the most impressive FEMALE character growths that I've read this year.

Of course, Greta isn't the only one who had character improvement, but also Isaac - as a goblin, king, friend, and lover. Isaac is the epitome of how fictional hero's should be written. Siona is also another character that comes to mind. Her relationship with Greta had its ups and downs, but because of both of their willingness to overlook each other's mistakes and determination to strengthen their friendship, their bond grew stronger and Siona grew stronger with it. I really love the way that Jacobs was able to show that soft side of Siona yet keep her personality as a the Goblin huntress. And, lastly, Wyatt, another strong character. Wyatt is definitely one of those characters that you can't help but love at the end of the day; always well-meaning and wanting to protect everyone, he could either come across as annoying or valiant. But, nevertheless, I enjoyed reading about him and his progression through all three books.

Jacobs did such an impressive job with this trilogy and showed her talent as a capable and brilliant author in each and every book that has been published in this series. I loved the way Jacobs built Mylena, the world and it's history was executed in a spectacular manner and so easy to comprehend that I had no issue at all getting into this series and enjoying it to the full without the bemusement that can come when basing a story on a fantastical world. I truly look forward to reading more from Chloe Jacobs and hope to see the same style of writing and progression as I saw in the Mylena Chronicles.

I was so excited to read Greta and the Lost Army. I had been missing my Goblin family of Mylena. Most of all of course Isaac.

One of the things that I had like so much about the first book was that Greta and Isaac relationship was already established. This made the the prologue of the Lost Army even sweeter as it’s a flashback to Greta and Isaac actual first meeting. I couldn’t help but smile while reading it. You know how far they have come but this is where it began. Such a great touch.

We start where we left off and that’s Greta, Isaac, the boys and Siona find themselves in the human world. Obviously there isn’t fighting, the same way there is when they are Mylena. I liked that Greta’s parents didn’t become just background noise of a life she once knew. We are actually able to find some closure and she also has options. The boys are able to find their families and reconnect. I loved that this was worked into the story. It might have not been the most action filled part of the book but it was definitely important.

Greta of course is still the first heroine we know her as. She’s learned to fight so much on her own that she has to learn to trust Isaac as her companion. She loves him of course but she has this independence that can almost be too much at time. We really see her grow into her role.

Oh Isaac. I love him no matter what he does. He is such a great support system for Greta and such a strong king. Swoon.

I love Greta and Siona’s friendship. They have to work through some issues with book two. Well a really big issue but I love how they are the friends that last. They could probably not talk for a while and still be there for each other instantly. It’s always great to see a bond like this, especially one that has importance.

I was excited to read this final installment but also sad to say goodbye. Maybe there can be some spin-off stories. Maybe even short ones, maybe a Siona one. You know just suggesting. the world is dark and vivid, the pacing well done and I enjoy Chloe Jacobs writing. I really recommend this series, especially if you love swoony Goblin Kings, strong heroines and adventure.
