Seeing your twin sister who died eighteen years ago it's not easy,but at their father funeral is more than one can handle.Where was she all this time,and why she's back?
Honestly I don't know who to really feel sorry for.Each character have a hand in this miserable life they had.While I was shocked when the real twist was revealed I also feelt sorry for the one that killed,isn't it weird?None of them were without a guilt and I also didn't like the sister that come back,she did a lot of damage and get off to easily in my opinion.Still there was something about this secrets,this chain of events that was set eighteen years ago that suck me right in and I could not put it down,so it was worth a read book for me.

Love a twin trope in a thriller. The premise draws you in straight away and I eagerly read to find out the truth. Brilliant and easy to read. Plus a superb twist at the end.

Here’s my review for My Twin Sister by Alesha Dykema
I found this to be an intriguing, addictive, suspenseful psychological thriller where Grace disappeared, eighteen-year-ago in Lake Superior, in the small town of Raven, while she was with her boyfriend, Wyatt, having a swim. Although Wyatt searched and raised the alarm when he couldn't find her in the lake, her body was found later and identified by Frank, Wyatt's dad the Sheriff. Genevieve or Geny, was Grace's twin sister and she missed her terribly when she died as she was her best friend too. She married Wyatt like Grace should have done. They have two lovely children as well. She has tried to live the life Grace should have had. Their dad is dead after that cruel accusation and Father Don is reading the eulogy better than Geny ever could when he stumbles to a halt. There are lots of whispers and murmurs which make Geny and Wyatt turn in their seats and gasp in surprise as though risen from the dead…there she is…Grace!
I thoroughly loved reading this brilliant psychological thriller which hooked me right from the very first page and I just couldn’t put it down as I was so intrigued by all the secrets, the twists and turns going on. Grace was plagued with texts and veiled threats from numbers she didn’t know. Was she safe in Raven? But she wanted to fulfill her mission! The writing was superb, the plotting excellent and it was extremely well thought out. It was told from two povs, Grace and Geny and these types of stories I really enjoy reading as you learn so much in the storytelling. The characters were extremely well thought out, well described and worked really well together. There were subtle differences between Grace and Geny's characters which show as you read the story and I don't trust Geny at all. Great storyline though.

In the years that followed, the surviving sister rebuilt her life and even married the man her twin had once planned to marry. Then, at their father’s funeral, she turns around and sees the sister she believed she had lost standing inside the church.
The opening creates an immediate sense of shock and unease. The return of the missing twin does not simply reopen an old tragedy; it threatens the narrator’s marriage, identity and the life she has built in her sister’s absence. She has always carried guilt over surviving, but she must now confront the uncomfortable possibility that she has also been living the life that should have belonged to someone else.
The isolated Lake Superior setting adds atmosphere, particularly with the idea that the lake does not easily surrender its secrets. As the past is revisited, old memories become increasingly unreliable and it becomes clear that the events surrounding the disappearance may not have happened exactly as everyone remembers. The strained relationship between the sisters is the strongest part of the book, with grief, resentment, jealousy and suspicion constantly affecting their interactions.
The story moves quickly, with short chapters and frequent revelations. There are plenty of secrets to uncover, and I was interested in discovering where the missing sister had been and why she had chosen this particular moment to return. However, some of the twists felt more dramatic than believable, and several characters withheld information in ways that seemed designed mainly to prolong the mystery. The twin-sister premise is also familiar within psychological thrillers, so not every development felt entirely original.
Overall, *My Twin Sister* is an entertaining and addictive psychological thriller with a gripping opening, an atmospheric setting and a complicated relationship at its centre. Although parts of the plot required suspension of disbelief and some twists were easier to anticipate, it remained a quick and engaging read.

There are some thriller tropes that I just can’t resist, and long-lost family members, missing people and someone coming back from the dead are definitely high on my list. So when I picked up My Twin Sister by Alesha Dykema, I was immediately intrigued. Because how would you react if the twin sister you believed had died eighteen years ago suddenly walked into your father’s funeral?
That is exactly what happens to Gen.
Grace was supposed to have drowned when the sisters were just nineteen. Gen has spent nearly two decades believing that her twin is gone, so seeing Grace standing there, alive and well, is understandably a huge shock. But the surprises don’t stop there. Grace reveals that she suffered from amnesia and has only just remembered who she really is.
Except Gen doesn’t believe her.
And there’s a very good reason for that. Grace was once in love with Gen’s husband, Wyatt. Suddenly, Gen is living the life that Grace once dreamed of having, and the return of her supposedly dead sister brings a whole lot of questions, tension and uneasiness into her world.
I really enjoyed the central mystery of this story. That feeling of something isn’t quite right here kept me turning the pages, and I loved watching Gen try to piece together what really happened all those years ago. As a reader, I was constantly wondering who could be trusted and what Grace was hiding.
I did find that, as the story progressed, there were quite a few different storylines developing, and at times things became a little muddled for me. I would have preferred a slightly tighter focus on the main mystery, as that was the part I found most compelling.
That said, My Twin Sister was still a good, enjoyable thriller and definitely ticked one of my favourite trope boxes. There’s something deliciously unsettling about a person returning from the dead, especially when everyone thought they were gone for almost two decades.
If you enjoy family secrets, missing persons, twists, complicated relationships and the “coming back from the dead” trope, this one is worth adding to your reading list.
For me, it was a solid 3-star read, an intriguing premise, plenty of secrets and a mystery that kept me curious right through to the end.

And trust me, you will question everything.
Told from two points of view, My Twin Sister moves FAST. There is no sitting around waiting for something to happen. The twists kept coming, and just when I thought I had something figured out, the book basically laughed in my face and said, “Oh, honey. You thought.” 😂
The best part? Things are NEVER quite what they seem. There are secrets, lies, shifting perspectives, and enough twists and turns to keep you guessing right until the end. I found myself constantly rethinking what I thought I knew, and that is exactly what I want from a psychological thriller.
The plot was astounding, the pacing was spot-on, and once I got into it, I absolutely did not want to put it down. This is one of those books where you keep telling yourself, “Just one more chapter,” knowing damn well you are lying to yourself because you are absolutely finishing this thing tonight.
Alesha Dykema gave me the kind of story that makes you suspicious of EVERYONE. And honestly? I loved every minute of it.

The way this book started instantly hooked me in like what do you mean Geny's twin sister Grace, who was buried 18 years ago, has just turned up at their dad's funeral?! With a start like that I was ready for a wild ride!
It's clear to see there are lots of family secrets, some that they all thought had been buried with Grace. Her arrival signals a shift in life as they know it.
Told via a multi pov between Geny and Grace, I found myself a little frustrated at times by how secretive they both were. I get that they are rebuilding their relationship, but I just wanted to knock their heads together!
On the whole I enjoyed this book. There were lots of twisty moments that kept me turning the pages and questioning what was going on. Some twists were a little madder than others but entertaining all the same. However, the pacing in the middle slowed and it felt a little repetitive with the secrets that were being kept and vaguely alluded to.
That ending! Although I had suspicions, I didn't work out the extent of it and I'm still not sure how I feel about it, but I can appreciate it was a clever ending.
This is for you if you love twin drama wrapped up in messy family secrets, and unravelling mysteries with a side of revenge.

It's clear to see there are lots of family secrets, some that they all thought had been buried with Grace. Her arrival signals a shift in life as they know it.
Told via a multi pov between Geny and Grace, I found myself a little frustrated at times by how secretive they both were. I get that they are rebuilding their relationship, but I just wanted to knock their heads together!

I’m always a fan of stories centered around twins because they naturally create opportunities for unique twists and complicated family dynamics. I also love the “dead… but not really dead” trope, so this book had my attention from the start.
The story follows Geny and Grace. Grace supposedly drowned in Michigan’s Lake Superior at 19 years old, but 18 years later she suddenly reappears. In the meantime, Geny has married Grace’s former boyfriend, Wyatt, and the two have built a life together with their children. As the story unfolds, we learn what really happened the night Grace disappeared, the secrets she was keeping, and why Geny made the choices she did.

Holy Moly Coley!! My Twin Sister was an incredible twisted suspense story that gripped me from the start, held me tight all the way through and spit me out gasping at the end. It was that wild of a ride!

Let me tell you it blew past anything I could have expected and then some. I wanted to make it last but I kept picking it back up and reading more. I knew with the way this one started that it was going to be good, but I don't think I was prepared for just how much. Once I cracked the cover I was hooked by it's well penned words and it was pretty evident that I had a long night of reading ahead of me... because there was NO way I was putting it down until I devoured every last word! It was so addictive!!
I highly recommend you take a chance on this one, it's page hold a story that is bound to thrill and keep you dangling helplessly from the edge of your seat the whole way through!!

In the years since, Grace has quietly stepped into the life her sister might have had, right down to marrying the man her sister once loved, but that fragile peace shatters the moment she spots her sister across the room at their father's funeral.
I was completely immersed in Grace and Geny's story, and I loved the writing style - there was a really good balance of character development against a plot that never let up.
Some of the red herrings were amazing, and there were a couple of revelations that really floored me. It's one of those books where you can't trust anybody, and no one is more unreliable than Grace and Geny themselves.

The characters in this had so many unexpected traits that developed throughout the story but it all made sense and nothing felt forced. There was so much tension that I physically could not put it down without seeing how the story unraveled.
The plot was extremely fast paced, which kept me engaged but still had so much attention to detail that nothing felt rushed or out of place. The writing style was perfect for what I look for in thrillers. It had such a good ratio of dialogue, descriptions, and breadcrumbs for all the pieces of their past that we didn’t know about.
There were certain elements to the ending that were unexpected but it all tied up very nicely.

I loved the premise of this book and the question of what would you if someone who everybody thought died years ago suddenly reappears.
When Geny’s twin sister Grace appears at their father’s funeral after so many years gone, her arrival heralds a whole host of insecurities, secrets and lies. The tension is drip fed throughout the pages and I loved how the secrets were slowly revealed. There were a few shocking moments and plenty of twists which kept me guessing all the way through. Where has she been all this time, and why not reappear in time to reunite with her father, instead of to attend his funeral? These are just a few of the secrets Grace is concealing, but everyone else in the town seems to have secrets, too, including Geny.
My last several reads have been lackluster, but this one kept me captivated into the wee hours and I finished the book in less than two days. Oh Wow I am new to this author and I really enjoyed her writing so much so I just couldnt put this book down. I read it so fast.

This book has everything. Murder, mystery, romance. Who could ask for more? Imagine if you had grieved not only your sister but your twin sister, your other half, for eighteen years and she suddenly reappears. The emotions that Geny feels, resentment, anger, guilt that she is living the life which should have been her sister's. In addition she feels gratitude that her sister is home. All these emotions are described in depth but this is not just a book about a reunion. There are dark undercurrents at work. Suspicion about a previous death in the lake. What are the police doing? Can anyone be trusted?
This is what kept me turning the pages. I know what I expected to happen. It didn't. I'm still reeling from the twist at the end.

A psychological suspense that completely messed with my head!
I went into My Twin Sister without reading the blurb, so the opening was a complete shock! I spent much of the story trying to work out what was really happening, with the alternating perspectives constantly changing my understanding of the characters and their relationships.
Grace, Geny and Wyatt are complicated characters, and while their choices sometimes frustrated me, I could understand their motivations. Add plenty of secrets, unexpected twists and revelations that genuinely shocked me, and I was thoroughly invested in finding out the truth.
A gripping psychological suspense that kept me guessing right to the end.

I went into My Twin Sister without reading the blurb, so the opening was a complete shock! I spent much of the story trying to work out what was really happening, with the alternating perspectives constantly changing my understanding of the characters and their relationships.
Grace, Geny and Wyatt are complicated characters, and while their choices sometimes frustrated me, I could understand their motivations. Add plenty of secrets, unexpected twists and revelations that genuinely shocked me, and I was thoroughly invested in finding out the truth.
A gripping psychological suspense that kept me guessing right to the end.

This book was interesting! It starts out in such a manner that you know you’re going to have to find out what’s happening. Pacing is good, even though there seems to be a lot happening it’s done in a way that makes sense. It’s a nice change where not every character is unlikable, and you really aren’t sure what’s happening because of it. Usually I just hate everyone and that’s where I go wrong with my suspicions. This time it was an entirely different reason lol. The ending, while kind of a jaw dropper, maybe could have unfolded a little more because it was all a little clumsy to me. Although it was pointed out that it was clumsy, so it was intentional I just felt like it was still a bit too easy. Otherwise, fun read! Thank you to NetGalley and Joffee books for the review copy!

Grace and Geny are twins and seem to have been part of a close friendship group only for a tragedy to occur; or that's what people are led to believe.
Grace's return shakes up a lot of things and the switch between the sisters shows us a mix of insecurities and secrets. Grace has an agenda. She knows it's not going to be easy trying to find the answers but when she does, she gets more than she bargained for.
This is suspenseful and at times, you feel sad for Geny. She's not in control and her life is being disrupted. She's doesn't appear to be like Grace at all but she does have her own secrets and we do get an interesting twist towards the end.

Worth More Than 5 Stars
Geny and Grace were twins. When Grace drowned Geny was devastated but gradually picked up the pieces and even married Grace's boyfriend going on to have two sons together. Years later at the funeral of their father there is a sudden whispering behind them and when Geny turns to look there is her sister, alive and well, but where has she been all these years, and whose body was in the coffin at Grace's funeral? This is a brilliant book which kept me guessing all the way through. I would give it more than 5 stars if I could.
