Rate this book
His life is exactly the way he wants it to be—until he meets her…

Both psychic and clairvoyant, Dr. John Trenton is a forensic psychiatrist who has a wife he worships and a position as a department head at a hospital for the criminally insane in Manhattan. His patients—young adult men, who are some of the most psychotic and psychopathic criminals in NYC—enable him to live his life on the edge, just the way he likes it. Then he meets a woman who changes everything.

She is two days from accomplishing the revenge she lives for—until she meets him…

Stripper by night, school psychologist by day, Gemini obsessed Barbara Montgomery, makes a critical mistake and is committed for seventy-two hours of observation, where she risks it all in an unnerving escape. Furious with Dr. Trenton for interfering in her life, she is now determined to kill his wife and unborn child, along with everyone else who has ever caused her pain—real or imagined.

As the killing spree continues, John is forced to use all his ESP, as well as his knowledge and expertise, to interpret this psychopath’s Gemini obsession and unravel her dark and murderous past. But can he track her down and bring her to justice—before she destroys his world completely?

Dr. John Trenton is a renowned forensic psychiatrist who also happens to be clairvoyant. He is head at a hospital for the criminally insane and works very closely with law enforcement in determining when patients are ready for prosecution, parole, etc. His paranormal skills helps tremendously in dealing with the worst of the worst.

He has a wife that he adores, but after several years of marriage, she packs her bags and heads for home.

Dr. Barbara Montgomery is a stripper by night ... and a school psychologist by day, very carefully keeping her two lives apart. Following a melt-down she is admitted to Dr. Trenton's care. Combative and resentful, she promises to kill his wife, along with everyone else who has ever caused her pain. She's smart ...very, very smart with a history of violence since she was a child. Killing doesn't phase her ..after all, she's done it before ... many times.

As a doctor, I found John to be a bit arrogant, but then if you're the best at what you do, it comes with the territory. As a husband, I thought he was manipulative and I couldn't blame his wife for leaving him.

The book bounces back and forth between present day and three years ago when he first met Vicki, his wife. I honestly could not see the correlation as she comes from a law enforcement family and she's leaving her husband because she thinks his profession is too dangerous. And yet, she's the one who keeps a large arsenal of guns in her family's home

The best character is Ricky... an 8-year old boy that John and Vicki want to adopt. Coming from an extremely abusive home, he's the one that stole my heart.

There is not a lot of suspense / tension, but the story line is good and it kept me reading from start to finish. Not the best I've ever read, but a long, long way from the worst. I look forward to reading ARIES, the second in this series.

Gemini is a great suspense thriller engaging the talents of a clairvoyant forensic psychiatrist, Dr. John Trenton, who has quite an ego. I love books where the characters feel real, and this book offers a lot of personalities to wonder about. The doctor walks the reader through several gripping therapy sessions to peel back the layers of this psychological suspense. This isn't my typical read, but I was fascinated by the idea of a psychiatrist who spoke of auras, astrology, and prophetic dreams. He also looks to his spirit guide for direction in his search to heal. There is a lot going on in this story, so be prepared to sit down and read it when you have time. Keeping track of the details is a must. I can't believe this is Ronnie Allen's first novel! What a great first and I look forward to more.

I really love the action with many twists and turns in this book. I like how the John wasn't just a doctor, but a psychic. Kellie was so crazy, but you can't help feel sorry for her. I can't wait to read Aries.

Gemini, which is Ronnie’s debut Novel, is amazing! I happen to love a story that bounces back and forth in time. In this story it’s present and 3 years prior. It is very easy to follow since Ronnie indicates the time at the beginning of the chapters. It’s almost as though you’re reading two different stories with the same characters. In this case, the prior years build the relationship of two of the three main characters. I loved that.

A psychological thriller with clairvoyance and paranormal throughout? Before reading Gemini, I would have said, “not my cup of tea”… but after reading it, I am truly looking forward to reading the rest of the books Ronnie is offering.

So, the plot… Excellent, The characters…yes excellent, twists and turns… all over the place…excellent and the ending….well let’s just say I was on the edge of my seat in the last two chapters… I was talking out loud to Ronnie… don’t you dare, no, no, no… well my friends, I guess you will have to read it to find out!

In case you haven’t already guessed, I must reiterate…. I loved this book and highly recommend!

I enjoyed quite a lot about this book, like other reviewers i liked the concept and the back story and bits about Barbara, one of one of the main characters, but if there's one thing i can't stand in a book, it's characters consistently using each others' names in speech. In conversation with his dad he called him dad 7 or 8 times, in another, 6 times.. in a couple of short conversations with his mother he said mom 5 times each time, john and Vicki used each other's names exhaustively when chatting too ..'Vicki, what happened to three weeks?' 'John,i don't know what i want right now.' 'Vicki,it's the ...' - so false, who does that? Also, over a couple of pages 8 sentences started with the name Bobby, to repetitive, stuff like that drives me nuts, takes me out of the flow, and just sounds laboured.
That aside, i'd try another one of the series and hope the repetitive naming isn't a feature!

'Gemini' has an interesting plot with many twists and turns that keep the reader guessing as to what will happen next. Definitely a roller coaster ride as we follow Dr. John Trenton who is attempting to put his life back together while he simultaneously tries to keep a psychotic killer under lock and key. Whether he's able to be successful at either of these life altering tasks, is what keeps the reader turning the pages.

A very nice first book by Ronnie Allen. Enjoyable read, nice level of suspense and well paced.

Good book from a new author

The buzz around this book is worth it. Allen's first novel is chock full of suspense surrounding a school psychologist and a profiler with a sixth sense. Set in both NYC and Florida. The details are astounding and a bit over the top. The characters were likeable and interesting. However, I found John's psychic abilities too good to be true. All in all, a fun read with plenty to keep your mind busy while reading. Looking forward to reading the next in the series.

I really enjoyed this original psychological thriller by Ronnie Allen. Her characters are richly drawn and multidimensional, and I loved slipping into the mind of a sociopath, thanks to this author's talent for writing deep point-of-view. I enjoyed the twists and turns, and being able to slip into the mind of a socio/psychopath. I look forward to reading more of this series.
