When Paige moves to a new city after her engagement ends, she isn't looking for anything except a fresh start and enough quiet to remember who she is. The apartment on Ash Street seems perfect — high ceilings, beautiful windows, the kind of space that feels like it has been waiting for exactly the right person.
He doesn't remember his name. He doesn't remember how he died. He only knows he has been here for thirty years, unable to leave, unable to be seen, existing in the long grey stretches between sharp moments of something that almost feels like living. And then Paige arrives — talking to herself, buying tulips, leaving the music on when she goes out — and for the first time in thirty years, the sharp moments are all he has.
As October deepens and the veil between worlds grows thin, what began as an impossible friendship is becoming something neither of them has words for.
Hi! I'm Karen Hunter, a romantasy author with a serious obsession with shifters, strong heroines, complicated alphas, and happily ever afters.
I write paranormal romance packed with magic, danger, humour, steam, and characters you can't help but root for. My Dragon's Flame series follows fierce women, powerful dragon shifters, and the messy, magical business of finding love when fate has other plans.
The first two books in the series, *Of Fire and Fate* and *Of Ice and Innocence*, are now out, with plenty more dragon-filled stories still to come.
But dragons aren't my only weakness. I also love exploring all kinds of paranormal romance, from vampires and darker supernatural stories to fun, festive romances. My Halloween story is now available, and there's already a Christmas tale brewing for the holiday season.
My background is actually in Animal Behaviour and Ecology, so I can't resist sneaking a little real-world animal behaviour into my supernatural worlds. I like my shifters to have instincts, personalities, and just enough wildness to make them interesting.
At the heart of everything I write are strong, capable women, heroes who understand that consent is sexy, plenty of chemistry, and endings that leave you with that warm, satisfied feeling.
When I'm not writing, you'll find me travelling somewhere warm, hanging out with my cat Luna, drinking far too much coffee, or disappearing into another romantasy book.
If you love your romance with a side of magic, danger, humour, and happily ever afters, welcome. There's always room for another reader in my world.
The Ghost Who Loved Me Last Halloween by Karen Hunter is a very endearing and sweet novella. Paige is a woman who is trying to put her life back together after a breakup. The way Karen writes her is perfect. You feel all the emotions of how a break feels. If you’ve been thru a break up you will recognize all of it. John, so many emotions for this man. Your heart aches for him. The wanting, yearning, patience of this man. Youre heart aches for this man. I was given the opportunity of an ARC of this novella and just knew if had to do with love and Halloween. Thats it. Wow, I didn’t expect to be taken on such a sweet love story and an emotional ride.
This book was provided to me as an advanced reader copy and my review is entirely voluntary. My thoughts, opinions, and comments are all my own!
I will not be leaving a rating for this as I DNFed this at 30%. I truly wanted to love this, but I believe this just simply wasn’t the style of writing I prefer. The writing to me was just a bit too monotonous and I personally couldn’t continue reading it. The concept seems sweet, so I know there will be readers who love this novella. I do still wish the absolute best to the author and would still be willing to consider other books in the future!
It was a warm cozy read with a sweet little romance🤎🤎. This book completely surprised me. I have never read this type of story before and I am so convinced that I will try more books in this type of genre. I loved the dedication at the start of the book. It was soooo relatable and was written very good by the author and kept me engaged till the end.
The yearning is soooo worth it. This is the kind of read you want when you are just tired from your life and want to escape the reality. .ADD TO YOUR TBR 🤎 🤎 MY FAVV QUOTE I loved you before I knew you.
This is a cute novella with a warm Halloween feel. The story follows Paige, who, after her engagement falls apart, moves into a new town for a new start and gets more than the lease on her new apartment suggested she would. The Ghost Who Loved Me Last Halloween is a very quick read and perfect for a lazy Sunday afternoon with a pumpkin spice latte. If you love a sweet little romance to while away an afternoon, this is the perfect book to do it with.
Sometimes you just need a book that feels like a hot chocolate and a warm hug, and this novella delivered on every single front. It was cozy, it was profoundly wholesome, and it was deeply healing. The romance is so achingly tender that it honestly gave me butterflies. No spoilers, but if you love delicious, heartwarming comfort reads that leave a happy ache right in your chest, you need this on your radar immediately. 🤎
A brilliant read with a warm latte and curling up on the sofa with
A lovely read, heart warming page turner. Perfect for time with a latte cuddled up on the sofa. The Ghost who loved me last is a warm romantic story that can't help but touch your heart. I felt I could relate to the characters and wanted to read the book in one go. Another great book by Karen Hunter.
I thought this book was beautiful. I was heart broken near the end with the FMC and I wasn't sure if id recover but I did. The story itself was something unique to me that I haven't really read before but I was super intrigued by the ghost aspect. I do think it was very well writen and kept me engaged the entire time.
Loved the vibe between the two of them and enjoyed getting to explore the ghostly parts of this together with both of them.
