Is This A Romance Or A Decor, Schedule, & Cafeteria 'How To' Guide For The First Day Of College?

description

I would love for some of these authors to explain to me wtf they were thinking as they go about writing their books?

I'm not trying to be cruel, but sometimes it's just damn necessary to be harsh so that asinine practices will cease, desist, and be locked in book hell forever and ever!

Asinine? Yeeehep!

The initial 30% of this book is some chick's first day of college; don't ask me her name because I can't even recall it.

That right there, the fact I've read 30% and don't know the lead character's name, should be exhibit A that you've done something very wrong writing a book.

This is 30% ...

'Oh, ma and pa are rich snobs and don't like the school I've chosen but still love me enough to ensure I have the best room available and every damn thing down to art work and window treatments to make my new dorm comfy.'

It's decor & orientation diatribes from hell.

But most importantly, it's boring as all hell!

description

I DO NOT F'ing Care.....

I don't f'ing care that there is carpet!

I don't f'ing care about shopping for fabric for chairs.

I don't f'ing care about schedule lines & campus directories.

I don't f'ing care about multi-paragraph explanations on the classes you're taking, why, how many credits you'll get, & how it could all be better or worse... Much less the same info about your roomie's classes.

I don't f'ing care about the RA's detailed rules on dorm life.

I don't f'ing care that the dining hall is bigger than at your high school; how many people it could pack in; the good, bad, and weird food smells; nor how the lines moved slow and steady.

" ...... I shifted my weight from one foot to the other, looking around me constantly. There didn't seem to be any end to the students who milled around, standing in line, calling out to people they already knew or making conversation with people they didn't. I wonders how it was even possible for the school to feed so many people at one time. I was definitely hungry; and I was more than a little interested to find out what all was available on the menu. As we got closer to the service area, Gigi pointed out a big, broad bulletin board announcing the different soups and the theme with little placards underneath advertising different options. It was both like and unlike my high school cafeteria..."

^ I swear to God that is a very small excerpt of a 12-14 page breakdown of the cafeteria and its' food. No shit... 14 pages!

Don't ask how long it goes on from there or if she gives a tutorial on how best to fold your underwear because I DNF this one at 30%.

Bottom Line

Run... Run for your brain cells!!!!

Lmao. Do I really even need to say that this is boring? That it's a bunch of verbose rambling about the most mundane of the mundane? That I still don't remember the MC's name and never even met the male MC by 30%? No? Alrighty then... Peace out!

A little slow and disconnected for me. I couldn't really establish a bond with any of the characters. Of course, it's early on in this short serial, so things might change. I'm moving on to the next installment with a bit of remorse that I downloaded the next two without first establishing that I might be totally turned off after the first take. Just another one of those plain old vanilla college girl meets popular hockey jock -- and, of course, he's carrying a load of baggage and she jumps into his bunk for an all-nighter at the get-go. Ugh and I didn't see any mention of a condom either! Stupid girl!!

Becky arrives at college and as a freshmen feels overwhelmed. Meeting her roommate Gigi, Becky is glad too hit it off with her. With not watching where she was going, Becky runs into the sexy Johnny Steel. The hottest hockey player sets his sight on Becky, could it be something worth continuing or did she get played? I would liked to have more of Johnny, hoping there will be a lot more of him in the next book. Can't wait to see what happens next.

This book is in desperate need of an editor and a proof reader. Why write a hockey romance when you clearly know nothing about hockey. An hour spent on the internet would have made a tremendous difference. 1) the college hockey season does not start at the beginning of the school year. 2) the majority of college hockey games in a season are played in 2 game series on Friday and Saturdays. 3) a regulation game in hockey consists of 3 periods with 2 intermissions. There are no quarters or halftime. 4) an infraction against another player is called a penalty not a foul. 5) when a player is hit into the boards it is called checking, not slamming. 6) the plexiglass above the boards surrounding the playing surface is referred to as "the glass" not a shield 7) the NCAA men's ice hockey championship is played in a tournament format and is called The Frozen Four - it is not played at a teams home rink/arena - it is held in a different city each year at a professional hockey facility to accommodate the larger crowd. 8) it is not possible that a player would be left behind at an away game nor would a player from an opposing team be the last person in a building after a game - a large staff travels with a hockey team including coaches, trainers and equipment managers not to mention the facility personnel who work security and clean the building who would be in the locker room area. 9) the mid-game sex was also ridiculous for many reasons not the least of which would include the difficulty of quickly removing the equipment and the smell. The heroines irrational hysteria and constant crying were ridiculous and made it very hard to like or have compassion for her. Unfortunate because there was the potential for a good book here.

Ecstatic about college, Becky can't wait to embrace her freedom. As she meets her dorm roommate and settles into her new life Johnny Steel catches her attention. Will Becky become the girl everybody wants to be? Will she turn into the type of person she dislikes? Johnny is a hottie hockey player that befriends Becky. But is he using her for a quick romp or is there more? Great writing and a cliffy that will keep you wondering, Claire Adams's Breathless is a must read!

Breathless

Going off to college, Rebecca didn't go to the prestigious school mommy & daddy wanted her to go to, but choose a state school instead. Doing her own thing, wanting to major in English, she has a great roommate, Gi Gi, then a chance meeting of a hockey player. She is a little infatuated, a crush maybe, then she meets Johnny, and well you have to read book 2.

It seems like a good plot but, there are too many details for such a short story. The two main characters have said less fifty words to each other until the last two chapters. What most authors would make one book has been split into five "books." Buy the box set for $.99 and enjoy the entire story instead of paying $.99 for each book in the series.

Promising.

It was kinda hard to get to know who Johnny Steele was. The relationship between Becky and Johnny was a little distant for me. I appreciated the cliffhanger and the suspense it created.

I thought for sure the other show was going to drop. It didn't. There is definitely something either wrong with him or with the idea of them being together.

Super short read - just as I was getting completely into it - it ended. It did flow really well though. Looking forward to see where the series goes.

This book did not impress. I think it was written for a much younger reader. I did continue to read the sequels because the book(s) end in cliffhangers. This is to be said of the series.
