When Gavin Thorvald, local dragon lord, met his mate, Sebastian Michael, he thought everything would finally be right with the world. It had taken six hundred years, but he had finally met the one man made just for him. After Sebastian's own brother held him away from Gavin long enough to make Sebastian lose their first egg, Gavin thought his mate would never be ready for another. Now, on the night of their wedding ceremony, Gavin was about to get a second chance. The plans have been made, the grounds have been decorated, and the guests have been invited. Sebastian is prepared, so he thinks, to tie the knot and accept a new egg. He knows Gavin is ready and deep down he feels he is, too. Fate wouldn't give them a second chance if they weren't both ready. Unfortunately, no matter how prepared you are things can always go wrong. Sebastian's secrets will be told and Gavin will have to fight harder than he thought to keep everything together.
After the horrible events of book one (and yes, you need to read that one first to get the complete picture), it was a relief for me to see that book two takes a different approach. While still tension-filled and edge-of-seat powerful, this part of Sebastian and Gavin’s story focuses on the psychological side of them losing their first egg.
Sebastian is taking things a lot harder than he will admit. He blames himself for losing the egg, and no amount of reassurance will make him see that it wasn’t his fault. He did everything he possibly could have done, and the only people to blame are the b*stards who tortured him. His feelings of inadequacy are hard to understand for anyone who has not gone through the loss of a child, never mind under such horrible circumstances, and the fact that all his friends think he is strong makes him feel even weaker. No matter how often the therapist he secretly sees tells him to talk to Gavin, Sebastian can’t get himself to do it.
Gavin realizes his mate is struggling, but he has no idea how deep Sebastian’s problems go. He also wants to support him, and in the dragon lord’s mind, admitting that Sebastian is weak is not part of that support. Boy, does he have a lot to learn! One thing Gavin is very good at though, and that is loving Sebastian unconditionally. He shows this in the way he plans their wedding ceremony, which is beautiful, and in so may other little and big things he does for Sebastian. As they slowly get back to normal, including some very hot kinky activities, and the pregnancy progresses, Gavin begins to see something is really wrong as Sebastian loses more and more weight even though he is carrying their egg. When he finally puts his foot down, I breathed a sigh of relief.
If you like male pregnancy and dominant dragon shifters who love their mates with all their heart, if you enjoy stories about men who have to fight their inner demons before they can be truly happy, and if you’re looking for an intense read with lots of emotion and even more heat, then you will probably like this novella. I hope the third installment will be published soon!

I'm SO glad that there was a follow up with the same characters rather than go right away to a new couple. Gavin and Sebastian needed their real HEA, and they definitely got it with this follow up. But I liked that there was still some angst in this still. This was sweet, sexy, and I look forward to the next book in this series, which I think is Matt and his mate?
This book is part of a series and should be read in order.
After all the heartache and pain Sebastian and Gavin had from the last book they deserve a happy ending. And this book definitely gives them that.
But it takes some work on both their sides to make it a happy ending. Sebastian is deeply scared mentally by what happened to him by his brother and former best friend. He is not completely healed and when he starts to carry another egg, that really shows through. He winds up risking himself and the eggs health, before he finally admits what's truly wrong to Gavin.
I liked how Gavin come up with a game plan involving Sebastian and his medical doctors to help him through it. Once he learned the truth, he understood completely and found ways to help Sebastian and try to elevate his fears.
Damn these two are super-hot together. Really steamy in the sack, against a wall, or wherever. There was no real BDSM themes in this book. Just some minor bondage and kinky toys.
This was a nice read. A little heavy on the angst. But when you think about it Sebastian has really been through a hell of a lot and kind of earned a little freak out time. Gavin was his normal awesome caring loving mate self. He saw to Sebastian's needs anyway he could.
To be honest, I didn't like this one as much as the first. Too many secrets. I don't like that. I didn't even understand why they were keeping them either.
I'll still read on because I want to know what's going to happen, but I was kind of bummed out with this :(
This might be called book 2 of the series but it should have been included as part of Taken. The first 4 chapters occur between the last chapter and the epilogue of Taken. Then the story continues with a second chance of an egg. I think I enjoyed this book more than Taken because I already knew the characters and a bit of what to expect from the writer. A must read if you liked Taken.
A cute, enjoyable read. We are still left wondering about Sam which I thought would be dealt with in this read. Instead we backtrack a little and deal with another egg and the complications that come to the men with it. Nice interlude but not much of a story.
This was Outstanding, great, I loved it I really really hope there more soon I can't wait to see what happens next ... I will be watching for it like I watched for this one....Ty Rennie Leigh ...
