Touch is agony. The dark is worse.
Cole lives in a prison built by his own mind. Plagued by crippling anxiety and an absolute dread of human touch, his existence is a fragile exercise in survival—until one irreversible choice shatters everything.
As Cole spirals into the abyss, two enigmatic figures emerge from the shadows: a woman named Scythe and a man named Sachar. Captivating, surreal, and strangely comforting, they offer Cole a dangerous kind of refuge. But as his attachment to them deepens, a terrifying question takes root: Are Scythe and Sachar the delusion of a breaking mind, or have monstrous entities truly stepped out of the night and into his world?
Caleb has always been his twin brother’s keeper. Watching Cole slip into secretive, uncharacteristic behavior, Caleb vows to protect him before he falls completely apart. Determined to save his twin, Caleb begins monitoring Cole's every move—unaware that by stepping closer to his brother, he is stepping directly into a dark, paranormal nightmare.
Because Caleb isn't just watching Cole. He’s watching them without even realizing it. And the shadows are looking right back.

The roller coaster of a ride this book provided was intense. The mental health representation with the dark twisted insanity of the MMC's hallucinations are written wonderfully. They add a while new layer of darkness and depravity which at times allowed for such an extreme emotional tug of war. You really saw the complete fracture of his psyche.
“Sanity is boring"

The ending was completely unexpected and I loved the fact that I couldn't guess how it would play out!

‼️READ THIS BOOK‼️ of course if the trigger warnings are too much for you don’t read it PROTECT YOUR MENTAL HEALTH! But HOLY COW!! This book is absolutely amazingly dark! And so well written! This was the darkest book I’ve read but it’s was so good! Seeing inside Cole’s mind and seeing how he changes during is an absolute ride! And getting a glimpse of Caleb here and there! THE ENDING HAD ME SOBBING, CRYING, THROWING UP, JAW STAYED DROPEDDDDDD!!! If there isn’t a second book I might actually cry!! I NEED MORE!!! This was a 5⭐️ read for me and my favorite read of the year!! Amazing book. I woke up in the middle of the night just to finish it without being interrupted. I have the attention span of a squirrel and I finished it in like a day and a half.
It's dark. I would almost call it an erotic paranormal thriller. It definitely pulls at your emotions as well.
I don't want to give too much away lol Read the trigger warnings and if you get past those, dive into this book!

This book was a beta read for me and it had me in its grip from the beginning! This book is extremely dark, disturbing, grotesque, psychological, spicey AF with a little BDSM, it’s unpredictable, and had me taking breathes towards the end. I was gasping and literally laughing with anxiety reading this book! So freaking good! It is definitely pitch black so read TW lists people! If your into pitch black books that are why choose, paranormal, and can also give you a peek into what it may feel like to have extreme mental health issues; and how it can effect them people and the people around them, you’ll want to read this. It is phenomenal!
The main character Cole has extreme haphephobia and almost crippling anxiety with panic attacks . One day he does the unthinkable and let’s just say he does things he cannot take back. And then everything just downward spirals from there. He starts to see two beings that come out of the shadows, a woman named Scythe and a man named Sachar. Cole becomes very attached to them. Through the whole book you have no idea if they are a symptom of him having some sort of psychotic break or if they may in fact be real..? Cole’s twin brother Caleb starts to notice Cole acting stranger than normal and gets worried and decides to watch him more closely. Let’s just say that’s when things start really getting interesting.
The characters in this book are amazing and just the development of Cole’s character through everything is just mind blowing.
I love Scythe and Sachar. They are absolutely delicious! Sachar is my Favorite!🖤 I highly recommend this book and I can’t wait for the next book!
