Two quick notes before I forget:


1) Tess and her introduction of Matt to Maddy might be my favorite scene in the entire book!
2) Matt’s thoughts on movie etiquette cracked me up! I mean, he is totally right!


The Review:


This was my first read of this author, and I really enjoyed it.


It was a very fast read, so if you are a fan of romance novels, and you don’t want to invest hours and hours and hours of time, this is the book for you.


It may be quick, but it has all of the delightful elements of a romance novel.


*There is a great meet-cute (I mean, it’s in the title!!)
*There are good side characters.
*There’s some spice but not too much.
*There’s some conflict but nothing that traumatizes you–it just makes you ponder motivations.


This is the story of Madison and Matt. Not to spoil anything, but they meet at a movie theater while he is waiting for his late friend and while she is on a date. From there, Tess, Matt’s sister, ensures that a beautiful friendship begins. Then it becomes a friends-to-lovers story.


I really like the characters so much so that I wish it were a little bit longer.
Here are things I would have loved to have seen:
*More sweet scenes of them building their friendship. There were some flashbacks, but I wanted even more.
*More with the side characters. I’m sensing there might be a book on Matt’s BFF and also hopefully Tess because her situation stressed me out.
*More scenes with Nan. She is the best!


Overall, while I enjoy longer romances, I will be keeping an eye out to see where this author goes next.

This was a nice short read, and would be perfect for a palate cleanser in between books. Matt and Maddy meet at a movie theater and end up sitting next to each other. They end up becoming friends and grow very close over the following years. It is clear from the beginning that they care deeply about each other, but not necessarily in the same way. They've stuck together side by side through relationship changes, employment changes, college graduations, etc and it takes over 6 years for them to finally admit that they were soulmates all along.

I loved Matt's character, he is a total golden retriever, despite being friend zoned for half the book. I love there that he is there for Maddy through thick and thin, constantly making sure that she has her favorite snacks and drinks, and giving her a sounding board when she needs somewhere to vent or cry. I honestly wish that this story was just a little bit longer, because I wish that I could just be in their world for a little bit more time. That being said, it was such a fun quick read and I highly recommend it if you're looking for something sweet and cute in between books. Really looking forward to Audrey's next release!

I will probably be the only one thinking this, but I find it weird how they met. Who is jumping, hiding behind and hold hands with a total stranger for 2 hours at the cinema?
Maddy is like a free spirit always saying out loud what she thinks and is also super independent. Being friends with Matt for so long has made them both know each other so well .
Matt is so kind, patient, and supportive of Maddy. The way he acts he is the perfect golden retriever type.

There are some back and forth in time so we have a nice history of their friendship, even if Matt loves her since day one.

They have a break down moment at one point in the story and I was so on Maddy's side with this one. Even being a team doesn’t allow the other person to make a full decision for her. EVen when they talk about it, I still think it’s not how a couple should work.

The sexting/sex phone scene was the best one.

This was such a cute wee read!! I loved Maddison and Matts story. It was sweet, chaotic and gave me old school Rom com vibes!
I love how you get flashbacks of their friendship over the years. Another fave was all the Gilmore Girl references!

Out of all the side characters, I need to know about Tess! I need her story, also Nan was sassy 🤣 first book I’ve read from this author so I will def be following up with the rest of this series!

✨Audiobook✨

This was both Kathleen and Jason’s first audiobook and what a great job they did!! For a first audiobook, I honestly think they did such a great job! 🥹 You’d never know this was Kathleen’s first time narrating!! She was so great!! Jason’s voices for the ladies was so good which isn’t always easy!
All the characters had distinct voices, you could feel all the emotions, they both gave brilliant performances. Definitely narrators I’ll be listening to again!! 🩶

This had me locked in from the very start. One stranger snuggling into another stranger - yet it felt so normal

Fast forward 6 years and Matty and Maddy are the bestest of friends who are in love with each other.
I loved this. The connection between these characters was everything.

I really didn't like Vivian and wanted to bitch slap her so bad

I loved the sexting/phone call scene. That was HOT AF 🌶🌶🌶🌶

I need to know, Hunter and Tess. There was something there that was left unexplained. I have an inkling but need to know more.

Overall, I absolutely loved this whole storyline. It warmed my heart and I cheered so happily during the epilogue 🩷🩷🩷

My heart is swooning! From the opening chapter to the very end, I just had to keep reading to find out what would happen next in Maddison and Matt’s story.

Their meet cute had me smiling,and wishing something like this could happen to me! This was such a sweet, feel-good read that kept me rooting for Maddison and Matt the whole way through. And nothing beats short chapters to make you feel like you are crushing your reading goals!

Sometimes you just need a book that makes you smile, and Movie Meet Cute did exactly that! ✨

I really enjoyed Movie Meet Cute. Matt completely won me over with how kind, patient, and supportive he was. He was always there for Maddy, even when she couldn't see what was right in front of her. Watching her realize that her best friend was the person she'd been looking for all along made their story even sweeter.

Their friendship was my favorite part of the book. It gave their romance such a strong foundation, and I loved watching their relationship grow into something more. They truly felt like they were meant to be together.
