The Bestselling Mystery Suspense Series, Redwood Violet continues.
Kate Reid is putting all her efforts into becoming an FBI Special Agent. Her success is the one thing she can control. After eight weeks in the unrelenting training program at Quantico, she discovers this path won’t be an easy one. And when her friend and mentor, Special Agent Nick Scarborough, brings Kate in on an assignment, it only adds to the pressure.
The widespread disappearance of young migrant women, in the country illegally and who often go unnoticed, is looking more like human trafficking.
The deeper Kate delves into the investigation, the more she begins to identify with the victims—their desire to start a new life is similar to her own. Only their paths deviate into a dark and sadistic world. A path she knows well.
The pain and sorrow Kate believed was behind her begins to resurface as the case unfolds and the losses catch up with her. But when her training suffers as a result of her pursuit for justice, will Kate lose all hope of renewing a life that has already robbed her of so much?
Gone Unnoticed by Robin Mahle is the 3rd book in the Kate Reid Mystery series. Kate Reid is training at the FBI academy when she is given on opportunity by special agent Nick Scarborough to assist in the investigation into the disappearance of young women suspected to be linked to a human trafficking operation. An interesting mystery although Kate's involvement seemed rather tenuous and implausible. I like that we get to follow Kate from the start of her involvement with law enforcement and this is definitely a series to read in order. A captivating thriller although rather predictable.
Kate begins to find herself as she goes through the rigorous training at Quantico. She is still grieving for Marshall which affects her relationships with her fellow trainees. She has an intense need to be independent. These novels flow with a natural ease and grace. They are among the best I’ve read in this genre. On to number four.
Predictable, nothing fancy, a casual read. I skimmed to finish is a day. Surprised at the high ratings in Goodreads.
The writing is not boring and the story does hold your attention. The issue is that this is a tried and teated formula of fiction writing and there isn't any suspense per se.
In Gone Unnoticed, Kate Reid is putting her life back together and starting to come into her own. Trying to become an FBI Agent, helping to bring down a human trafficking ring and learning to take care of herself really puts Kate to the test. Good read.
For those who want to know: This one has language, violence and a bit of a cliffhanger (but the main conflict is resolved in this story).
Kate is fighting everyday to win the battle. And she knows that she can make it through training but she needs to focus. So when her mentor SSA Nick Scarborough asks her to help with an active FBI cases she jumps at the chance. But has she taken on too much? Kate knows that she can help with finding the missing girls but at what cost to herself. She is finding it harder to move forward with her life, she is lonely and her class mate Will is happy to be her friend but one night things go to far and she realizes that she can't let go of the only man that she has ever loved. So where will this leave her future? Nick knows that he can't push her to hard but she is brillant and she has made some real progress on the case and he welcomes her input but what will this case do to Kate & her mind? Kate knows that she can help find these girls but how many can they save? A good read.
This was a great story that was fairly well written, but the disconnect between the dependent clause beginnings of sentences and the main portion of the sentences got in the way too much of the time. (ex: "Lowering her hands again, one of her captors looked over at her." The captive, not the captor, is lowering her hands, but from this sentence the captor is lowering her hands, not the captive.) This could use one more good go-around with a good editor, who would address these issues. If all those problems were fixed, this would be a truly dynamite book.
This book was interesting from the start and was definitely worth the read. I liked the main character and wanted her to succeed. Although it wasn't an edge-of-your-seat read, it was definitely one that kept your interest. Now I want to read all the books in the series.
Women, illegal in the United States, are victims of sex trafficking each year.
Loved this book, #3 in the series. Full of suspense, mystery and thrills. People who enjoy these type books will love this series. Gave 5 stars due to my not being able to put it down until I was finished. Highly recommended!!!
Just catching up on this series. Wow, what a page turner. Kate doesn't do things the easy way! Besides struggling with her FBI training she is dragged into an actual investigation involving people trafficking. It was exciting stuff to say the least reading her juggle both. With a twist in the end as well the adrenaline was running throughout. Brilliant book.
A great storyline which had you gripped throughout. The character's all added something to the story and engaged you further into the events which unfolded. At times, Kate, the main character was quite annoying due to her self doubt, but she grew as a character throughout the book. A inconclusive ending which males you want to read the next in the series.
Kate Reid's journey continues as she is in training to be an FBI agent. There is a case for her to solve along with Nick. She has to face her fears regarding her past to help her be successful as an FBI agent.
I enjoy the series. The grammar and writing are sometimes not very good, but I like Kate. Each book ends, setting you up for the next.
I definitely did not like the ending. It seemed over the top that a person who represents the FBI shows up to their graduation of new recruits and takes the top FBI officer out in front of all who are there for the celebration. I grow tired of the repetition of Kate’s backstory. The plot is slow with too much detail like Mahle is writing a script.
I enjoyed reading this book very much. It was a little slow at times, but got moving really fast about half way through. The case was solved but there's a little teaser at the end. Lots of attention is paid to Kate's training as a FBI agent.
The story held my attention all the way through. Her struggles were so realistic and the training so rigorous. All the characters were multidimensional and believable. Don't miss reading this book - you're certain to enjoy it.
Kate was at the academy. She was excelling in the classroom but having trouble with her tacticals. SSA Scarborough asked her to assist with a case at the WFO in her. Spare time.
This book was an easy enough read, similar to the previous in the series, however it could use a decent editor. Again there were missing words, or wrong words used (decent instead of descent). It detracts from what could be a good story.
Book shared what friendship and having each other's back really mean. This showed real life in many of its situations. Kate evolved into a competent women as I read. Look forward to what the future holds for Nick in the next book.
As much as I enjoyed this book I will not give it the 4 star rating I was ready to. I dropped it to 2 stars because of the cliff hanger ending. I will not be reading any more of this series for that reason.
Good view of the inner workings of FBI training. Very entertaining and the characters drew me into their world. The love interest was kind of superfluous, but not too distracting. Really enjoyed this book and would recommend it as well.
I have read most of the series out of order. I wish I had read from the beginning. I understand now had happened. In any order this series is awesome. I can't stop reading until I finish a book. Two more to go. They are all equal in suspense. This one is no exception.
OMG! Excellent! If you want a great police procedural ( or FBI ) this is an excellent series and this one was great. One great problem. Massive cliffhanger will have you diving into the next of the series!
Looks like Kate has come a long ways!! I still miss Marshall being there for her but I understand how she needed a clean slate. Hope everything goes ok with Nick. She definitely don't need a protector anymore that's for sure.
I would have given it more stars, but I hate cliffhangers. Why authors insist on this tactic is beyond me. Finish the whole book. If you are a good writer you don’t need this kind of manipulation to sell books.
Non-stop action. Emotionally scarred young woman works through her losses and achieves her goals with help from those around her. A coming of age so to speak as she helps with a human trafficking case.
I like the continued story of Kate Reid. Her never give up attitude despite all history and odds is uplifting. It also gives insight into the workings of law enforcement. It kept me interested the whole way.
I Love this series. I'm very it ends the way it does. Even though I'm going to read the next book, I don't like that I have to read the next book to find out what happens at the end of this one.
The evolution of the main character so far have been extreme but not that good. I would have like see her ready to own the world, instead she keep battleling demons. It is obvious where she is going and that it is good. The story is great, interesting.
What can I say other than I am glad I am behind you he curve in this series. If I had to wait for the next book to come out it would be a shame for this adrenaline rush go flat. So far I am completely impressed with this series.
The character Kate Reid is growing on me more each book. I felt this book dragged on a little and there were a lot of characters to keep track of. I am so happy she joined the FBI. I can't wait to see what's next for agent Reid
