Thank you to the publisher for providing me the opportunity to read this book. This review is my own personal thoughts and opinions.
As someone who deals with food noise and binge eating for a very long time, this book made me feel seen and understood. A lot of research went into creating this book and it includes a lot of useful strategies and techniques to assist with different situations. I really appreciate the fact that worksheets are included throughout the book, so you can actually see the examples that are discussed. The references at the end are numerous and I liked that links are provided for further information.
Most of all, I like the way this book is presented. There are medical explanations to help understand how and why food struggles may begin as well as methods they can be changed and overcome. There is no judgement or criticism at all, just simple facts and information. One of my strongest difficulties, self-shame and self-judgement, are addressed with explanations and examples and tools for improvement.
The final chapters discussed paying it forward by helping others and advocation. This was an important part of the process.
