Radical life changes and too much champagne at high altitude can take a girl to the most interesting places. Anna’s journey is just getting started when she takes a chance on a new friendship of the handsome male variety and winds up in a tiny village in Crete.

It turns out she’s not the only one who has that idea.

Have you ever read a book that you liked so much from the beginning, you actually felt you were part of the story? A book where you could visualize the area, the rooms? Were you ever so engrossed you in the story, you didn’t realize you were at the end until you read the last word? That is exactly what Anna was to me.
Fia Essen wove a story that was alive with delightful characters and a captivating plot. The location? Who wouldn’t fall in love with the charismatic Crete, as so vividly described in the book? I loved the way the characters dropped into Anna’s life and immediately became indispensable to the rest of the story.
Would I recommend Anna by Fia Essen? Absolutely! It is the perfect read for a summer day on the porch, at the pool, or at the beach.

Do you like learning about foreign places and interesting people? How about good stories without violence, gore or ridiculous story lines? Tasteful romance? If that’s your preference, then Fia Essen is the author for you. Anna, the second book I read by Essen, did not disappoint with good character development, moving human emotions, and details of the island of Crete (which I may never get to visit). Essen makes you feel like part of her family of characters and you never want to go back to your real life. Her gift for story telling is like watching a movie while you read. Essen writes believable stories located in wonderful locations from her vast life experience. The cost of a book is a lot cheaper than the cost of a plane ticket!

'Anna' by Fia Essen is a romantic tale set in Greece. As a guy, chick-lit normally isn't my thing. However, after reading a previous book by Fia, I knew this would be a very entertaining read, and I was right. It's well-written and well paced, with plenty of up's and down's. I often realized I was smiling without knowing it while reading it :D The author captures the female psyche so intensely and her smooth writing style intrigued with me as I felt I was right there in Crete! Filled with deep emotion, engaging characters and rich dialogue, Fia Essen is certainly an author to keep a look out for!

I enjoyed this story, but with reservations. It's a very gentle, roll-along story with no highs or lows. It's almost the diary of a young New York girl and her life in Crete. Many times I kept expecting something unexpected to happen, but there were no mysterious or secrets to solve. I'm not sure I liked Anna's love, Alex. I thought him immature and contradictory in nature; disappearing when he couldn't cope with a problem and then reappearing to be strong and determined. He definitely needs a man cave to hide himself away in, when life becomes unbearable.
There are some good, strong characters in this story and as I found when I read Ariel, the author has a firm grasp of human nature and all the turmoil we endure as we make decisions about our lives. For this reason, I would recommend this story.
