His Plaything

Rate this book
Warning: If you can't handle a Navy SEAL with a filthy mouth, and a huge cock who wants to turn you into his plaything, this isn't the book for you. Carry on.

An ass you could bounce a quarter off of.

That’s the sight that greets me of my new roommate as he fucks a blonde on the kitchen table.

That’s right before I get an eyeful of his giant cock. Cue wet panties.

Oh, and did I mention he’s a Navy SEAL?

One semester. That’s as long as I have to last—and then I’m gone, graduated, off into the real world.

But can I survive that long without becoming … his plaything?

A full-length standalone erotic romance.

Excerpt:

He looked at me, unblinking. “I'm a red-blooded man, Avery. I already told you I've spent nine months in the Middle East, and the only action I saw was with my own hand. So I'm going to get laid and that's all there is to it. If you're living with me until you graduate, and you don't want other women coming around, then … ” His lips quirked and he shrugged. “There's an easy solution. We've got two willing participants sitting right here.”

I scowled, ignoring the spark of warmth that flickered in my belly. This bullshit again? I was starting to think he'd learned his lesson, but that had clearly been too much to hope for.
“Two willing participants? You might want to count again. Use your fingers if it helps.”

An evil smirk pulled at his mouth as he shook his head slowly. “Come on. Don't think I didn't see you staring at my dick earlier.”

Best. Roommate. Ever.

Avery
Pure, polished sugar candy, begging to be unwrapped, melted on my tongue, and devoured whole.

Nixon
Getting fucked by Nixon must be like an amusement park ride—a screaming, overwhelming, heart-pounding rollercoaster.

Avery has one semester left before she graduates from college, but her new Dad informed her that they can no longer afford her dorm so he found the perfect solution with his son Nixon. Granted, you're going to need a flip chart diagram to try and match up the family ties between the two, it still makes things weird, doesn't it? I mean they're "related" so why do their thoughts run wild . Their first encounter was priceless, the sassy-frass fight that followed set the tone, and now an agreement has to be made...
“You'd be so fucking tight around my cock, Avery. I'd probably have to work you open with my fingers first, until you were soaked and shaking and desperate for me. Then I'd slide in nice and slow, letting you feel every inch, before I got rough… You wouldn't know what hit you.”

Genuinely they get to know each other and realize there is more to just their attraction. The next four months can be spent in lustful bliss or endless blue balls, because while it's easy enough to go find a quick shag, their bodies are relentless in who they want.

His Plaything is the perfect for when you need something quick and durty. It's an easy read that offers up a dirty talking SEAL who's on leave and looking to get his privates wet. Avery isn't a little stuck up princess, she's down to earth and has the battle between being good and being bad. There are no major plot twists, no big production when it comes to declaring ones love and planning for a future, it's just them Avery & Nixon, their now. My "dirty" meter is pretty damn high so this was on a medium scale for me. Since it is a novella, there are bound to be "fast-forward" scenes, so be warned.. But I got to say, I loved the beginning and the end :)

3 'Nothing Special' Stars

Nixon is a Navy SEAL home on leave, and Avery is his new step-sister that he just learned is going to stay with him during her last semester at college. The first sight that greats Avery at her new place is a tight hot ass, pounding a a blonde girl on the dinner table. Not what she expected at all! Not wanting a repeat of that, Avery sets some rules and tells Nixon not to bring home anymore women. But Nixon has gone too many months without the comfort of a woman, so he makes a suggestion. He won't bring home anymore women, and Avery will help him work out his sexual frustrations.

I liked this story and found it really intriguing at times, especially near the end. Nixon was a great character that I thought was super sexy. I liked how he was with Avery, he started off kind of an asshole but quickly we see a different side to him and realize that he isn't just a player.

Avery wasn't my favorite character, which is putting it kindly. Right from the beginning I hated her and she never redeemed herself from that point. She comes in the first day of staying with Nixon and is already giving him orders on what he can and cannot do in his own home, which just made me think of her as a spoiled little bitch. I kept looking for her to get better and somehow like her but it never happened.

Though I liked the story, I had a few problems with is and it pushed my rating down. Avery's character ruined it and at the end I just hated her even more for not even trying to talk to Nixon about what she thought he did. Also, this was a dual POV story but I felt like we didn't get Nixon's side at the important parts. We learn that he broke it off with Pam and that it wasn't pretty, they fought, but we never saw that. \

Overall, this was an okay step-brother romance but it was lacking for me. I liked the premise and Nixon but Avery was hard to read about without wanting to punch somebody and it was frustrating. Anyone looking for a hot step-brother romance should give this a try, but tread lightly with the heroine.

4 "I WANT NIXON AS MY ROOMMATE, DAMN IT"

It was a short, sweet, SEXY and funny story! With a little bit of angst, the story will leave you wanting MORE! I enjoyed it and I will recommended to anyone who want to read something light and SEXY!

It was a little bit rushed at moments, but overall it was really cute. It had a little bit from everything!

And honesty who wouldn't love NAVY SEAL with filthy mouth and who can be really swoonie ?! With killer body, hot temper, great friends, moves in bed like like a damn king and don't bother to hide his feelings!? (I WANT YOU NIXON! RIGHT THE HELL NOW!)

Soooo.. did I mention how SEXY this book was?!

Yeah.. panties-melting ALERT!

And the EPILOGUE.. seriously awwwwww !!!

This book surprised me! First of all, I didn't expect it to be such a fun stepbrother romance. I loved it. It was quick, gritty, dirty and so entertaining! I didn't realize how time flew by the time I reached the end.
Nixon is a SEAL. He returns to his house after a long time and all he really wants is to have a good time, rest and of course feed his long overdue sexual appetite. There is a tiny problem though. His father has presented him with an ultimatum; he has to let his new stepsister live in his condo with him.
Angry and not excited in the least with the idea, he reluctantly agrees.
Avery is in her last year of college. She studies fashion design and she has no time for her annoying and cocky stepbrother.
Upon her arrival, she stumbles into a scene that she wasn't supposed to see. Something inside her shifts and she sees Nixon with a different eye. She is drawn to him; she is super aware of him.
Disgusted by her own reaction to the cocky SEAL, she tries to make their living together tolerable but Nixon has his own plans.

He wants Avery and he isn't shy to show it. He proposes a deal. He wants to make most of their time together. No strings attached. He leaves the decision up to Avery. But will he win or will Avery's will remain strong despite her growing feelings for Nixon?
I loved this book. I enjoyed the romance, the sensuality of it all and of course, I loved the main characters. The storyline was well developed and I felt satisfied after the end. It wasn't loaded with unnecessary drama and everything about the plot simply...clicked for me.
Also, the author really knows how to write her love scenes.

If you are looking for a super-steamy, very quick read, without tons of drama, then His Plaything is for you. There's some back-and-forth, will-they-or-won't-they at the beginning but if you love Alpha males who love some dirty talk, then you'll love His Plaything. This book is great when you need a "palate cleanser" in between some heavier stories. Great beach or poolside read.

WOW....JUST WOW!! Ms. Jackson just blew me away with this one!! I was looking for something quick to read, but this was soooooo much more!! Both main characters are so well written it was easy to fall for them both. Nixon the Navy Seal is just delicious and Avery is beautiful and amazing. I wish I had read Stepbrother Master first because I figured out later that a few characters that appear in this story are from that book....oh well, I just need to read it now. ;)

Being married to someone in Special Forces, boy do I know all about the demands of that job!! It is definitely not an easy life, but it is a beautiful life as well. I wouldn't change it....except for having him home more!! That being said, it is easy to understand Nixon's want of no strings attached sex with the "Frog Hogs"...hahahaha...that's hilarious!! But he definitely didn't see it coming when his father called and told him that he would be getting a new roommate today. He has returned from a long deployment and is looking for fun before his next mission. What he does figure out quickly is that he has met his match in Avery. She is strong, beautiful and so much more than meets the eye. She not only catches his eye, but also the eyes of his fellow teammates Logan and Fox. Hmmmmm...Jealousy shows its ugly head, but it is soooooo good to see Nixon question his life and figure out he wants more. Avery is just as temped with Nixon....just read the synopsis...need I say more?!? ;)

The relationship develops nicely and the writing is fabulous. The only thing I didn't get was Avery questioning a relationship with Nixon because of how it would appear.....they are not related in any way and it is her STEP-MOTHER that is now married to Nixon's dad. So What!!! Get over it....jump the man!! ;) The ending is A-ma-zing, but of course I now want more!!

You will not be disappointed in this book at all so give it your all!! Thank you Ms. Jackson for a fabulous read!! I will definitely be re-reading this one!! ;)

This book had me at a dirty talking SEAL. Add in a large cock and I was practically salivating when I opened my kindle.

Now for truth time: I almost dnf’ed this book at 1% when I found out its a step-sibling romance. I know they’re all the rage these days but it’s a hard limit for me and I was super annoyed that’s not mentioned in the blurb. After I finished seething, I thankfully discovered that Nixon & Avery aren’t related at all. Not by blood. Not by marriage. His dad is married to her stepmother. Sadly (or fortunately?), that didn’t stop the characters from playing up the step-sibling angle. I considered turning it into a drinking game, but it was a work night. LE SIGH.

Avery’s close to her stepmom because her mother died at a young age. Obviously her stepmom is no longer married to her father – she’s now married to Nixon’s father. She’s met Nixon a whole total of one time prior to this book. We good? OK. Of course, if you’re into step-sibling books, then you can pretend that they’re more related than they are. *cringes*. If you aren’t, then this may be the only step-sibling romance you’ll be able to tolerate. EVERYBODY WINS.

Anyway, Avery’s in her last semester of college – she’s been abroad for the first semester and she’s coming home to finish her degree. Since Nixon is basically always away on SEAL training, her stepmom offers up Nixon’s condo since Avery lost her housing. Nixon makes quite the impression on his new roommate…I’m pretty sure Avery caught an eyeful of his cock before she ever met his eyes. I was totes ok with that.

I actually found the story to be steamy, sexy and quite the hot read. Nixon is a massive fucker (I mean that in every sense of the word) and actually has a romantic bone in his body in addition to the other more dominant ones (I can’t help myself). Get it, girl. Avery is pretty sharp-witted and easily likeable. She’s hesitant at first to hook up because of their extraordinarily tenuous potential familial relationship, but Nixon is quick to change her mind.

This is a fun, light read that contains an enormous amount of delicious sex, toe-curling orgasms and an adorable dash of romance. I was able to tear through this one pretty quickly with a smile & a smirk. Pick this one up if you’re looking for a quickie novel to heat up your sheets.

– 3.5 Stars –

When a book blurb starts with this:

Warning: If you can't handle a Navy SEAL with a filthy mouth, and a huge cock who wants to turn you into his plaything, this isn't the book for you. Carry on.

And has a cover that's clearly bringing sexy back, it seems stupid to pass it by. And it would have been. It SO would have been.

Avery's first glance at her new roommate isn't ideal. His fine, firm ass thrusting into another woman. Her second one is not much better -- his cock, wet and hard, saluting her.

Living with a dirty talking Navy SEAL that looks and acts like that? That's going to be as hard as his co... Well, you know. She just has to survive one semester with her knickers still on. But that's easier said than done...

Okay, I was expecting a dirty, steamy, sexy, raunchy roll around the sheets when I cracked this one open. And I absolutely got that. Surprisingly though, I got a little something more. This story was super fun too. Avery and Nixon are both scorching hot and kind of adorable together, as they try to navigate their new arrangement. I was on board with their relationship from the get-go and, damn it, I wanted a HEA for them so bad.

I love the way these two characters own who they are. Both are proud and sure in their chosen careers (even if Avery is still working towards hers) and that's rather sexy on its own. Plus, their relationship with each other feels real, not forced or completely unrealistic, which I liked. The tenuous 'forbidden' nature of their coupling was, admittedly, a bit of a stretch for me, but that's okay. I could look past it because their banter and their friendships (with each other and outsiders) were playful and light.

His Plaything was a fast, easy and really enjoyable read. It's a panty-soaker that will amuse, and it'll tug on those heartstrings a bit too. While it can be read standalone (I've not read Stepbrother Master myself), there were a couple of moments I felt I was missing something, so checking out book one wouldn't be a bad thing at all. In fact, it it's as good and hot as this one…well then, it would be stupid to pass it by. ~ Beth, 4.5 stars

First I want to say that I love reading books about military men. There is just something about these men that is just so sexy. They have some control that just drives me insanely crazy!

I have to say, Ms. Ava Jackson knows how to deliver with these stepbrother novels. Although this one you really couldn't consider a step-sibling one, it still came in close. When you fee like you are related somehow, it just makes it feel like it's forbidden.

Avery is a smart, sassy and classy girl. She only has four semesters to finish college and since her stepfather no longer could afford her dorm, she had no other option than to move in with her "stepbrother" Nixon.

Nixon, hot damn is one hell of a hot SEAL with a foul and dirty mouth who will have you drooling and your panties wet.

Nixon is not fond of the idea of having to share his place with his step-sister but he really doesn't have a choice in the matter. All they have to do is get along and stay out of each other's way. But Nixon doesn't know if that will be possible because since he met her, he can't seem to stop thinking about her.

When Avery gets to Nixon's condo she walks in on him screwing some bimbo on the dining table. She was shocked and embarrassed by what she saw, but that also seemed to have turned her on.

For the next four months this relationship takes a leap for the better and you'll get some hot, steamy sex scenes and a smoking hot talking alpha male and a sweet, beautiful girl = mixed together they make one hell of a combination!

I totally enjoy reading Ava Jackson's novels. They will have you hooked and you'll feel like you didn't get enough by the time you're done reading.

My, my, my what a surprise this one was in the best way!! I haven't read anything by Ms. Jackson before and I am always weary reading something by an author that I haven't read before, but I can honestly say this book was a pleasant surprise. I sat down to read a few chapters before I needed to get up and do laundry or something, but after those couple of chapters I was hooked and there was no way I was putting it down until I finished. The other crap would just have to wait. Nixon is a Navy Seal (extra points for that), and is home on leave for a couple months and will be sharing his condo with the very delectable Avery who is his dad's new wife's step-daughter. So for all in tense of purposes she is Nixon's step-sister. However, they are definitely not brotherly and sisterly towards each other in fact the exact opposite. I really, really love these two characters! The author wrote them perfectly. The storyline flowed really well. Totally worth reading. This was a 5 AMAZEBALLS stars for me!!

🎧 Audio Review 🎧

I really enjoyed this book. The characters were very likable, the relationship was real and the sex was hot! I like a love story that starts with a little anger/arguing and ends with true love! Nixon is a navy SEAL that can cook...HELLO...dream man. Avery is his step-sister (not really) that he barely knows but is attracted to. When they become roommates he comes off like a typical man whore but quickly shows that he is honest and trust worthy. This book was so much more than the title implies, actual if I had to pick one thing I didn't like that would be the title because it doesn't fit this love story IMHO.

Lia Langola was awesome narrating this book. She does a great job with the male voices, instead of trying to have a deep voice that isn't natural, she just uses a slightly lower tones and it works wonderfully. I will be adding her to my "narrators to watch for" list!

The whole step sibling connection in this book is a gross overreach. Her stepmother's new husband's son is considered her stepbrother? Get real! Plus, she wants to saunter into HIS apartment and start barking orders and telling him how he is going to act and what she considers acceptable? I don't know who the hell she thinks she is, but I don't know a man on the planet who would have stood for that, or any woman who was being taken in on charity who would have acted like that!
The only thing that saved this book at all was the sexual interaction between them.

Although His Plaything is a short read, Ava Jackson packs in just enough to feel like a longer novel. You get plenty of info about the hero and heroine to feel like you know them and love them. Had I know it was a step-brother(ish) read, I prob wouldn't have read it. I tend to steer clear of them. So I'm glad that wasn't mentioned in the synopsis because I did really enjoy this story. I'll definitely be looking for future stories from this author.

Nixon and Avery are step-siblings who live together while Nixon is home on leave. Avery has no interest in Nixon until she catches him in a compromising position. Nixon wants Avery and a no strings attached relationship. Nixon is a true hero being in the Navy Seals. Avery has a strong personality. It works for them. But will Nixon be able to keep his nonchalant attitude about their relationship going? I was not sure how I would feel about siblings, even though they were step-siblings having a relationship. But Ava Jackson explains the family dynamics so well, it was a non-issue. This was a quick, Steamy and fun listen.

Lia Langola narrates this story. I really enjoy listen to anything Ms Langola narrates. Her sultry voice and ability to do amazing male voices, creates Nixon exactly as I imagined him. Ms Langola narrates Avery's sass, and attitude to bring her character to life. Ms. Langola outs the steam in those hot scenes with her wonderful narration.

Quick read. Like it and hotness is about a scale from 1 to 10......a 6.

Nixon has been away fighting for the country and now he is back. His goal is to be normal until a phone call from his dad saying his stepsister is moving in.

Avery is taking a semester in college and the best way was to stay with her stepbrother. The greeting she received when she walked through the door was a bit much lol
