When you play with the devil, you'd better not turn your back.

Beau never intended to fall in love, but what was once his conquest has become his prize. Until he ends up in the same position he was ten years earlier—between Lola’s legs and begging to have her. So when she purposely disappears into thin air, leaving him empty-handed and alone, Beau is consumed with the need to find her.

As Lola gets farther from his reach, Beau is driven to the brink of insanity trying to get to her. When he finds himself at the ledge, he has to decide if he can let Lola go for good—or if he’s going to bring her down with him.

you know those heroes who are said to be assholes only for them to fall so utterly dissatisfyingly short when it comes down to it? beau is not of those heroes. beau is an asshole, through and through but i love to hate him and i hate to love him and yess i would still have him as my dinner every day of the week

He'd seen a girl on a stage under a spotlight, and he'd known. That one. I won't stop until I have her.

i am both lamenting over
and utterly relieved as fuck
for that this is the last book in this series.

i am both avoidant enough
and absolutely masochistic enough
to never wanna re-read it and to always re-read it.

I. Am. Speechless.
WHAT!?!?!? That ending had to be one of the best I have ever read. It was so intense and RAW... I could feel the anger and betrayal these two feel emanating from the pages onto my skin. Even after all the bad, I am still smiling like a fool even though I finished this last night. I honestly cried so much by the end that I had trouble reading through it... but I managed! I loved how Jessica didn't bombard me with information in the first book. She spread the information between them all, enabling me to find out more about who these two are. I was still getting to know them even at the fourth book in the series. The character developments were so incredible and precious. I couldn't have asked for a better plot line for them. This book was in both of their POV's as well and Jessica let me form a relationship with them as individuals, not as an item. These two were so emotionally and physically intense, I will forever hold them dear in my heart.

Title: Night Edge
Author: Jessica Hawkins
Rating: 4.5 stars
HEA:
“After I sold my first company, the same night I met you, I doubted myself. I wasn’t sure which way to turn. I drove to Arizona and looked out at the Grand Canyon, waiting for answers. A place like that really makes you realize how little control you have. But it also puts things in perspective.”

What would you do if the love of your life left you behind?
What kind of lengths would you go to for him/her?

This book was everything everything I could have hoped for.
Romantic, sad, introspective, angry.
This final installment was earth shattering.

Once upon a time Beau Olivier planned to own Lola Winters in the middle of the Sunset strip. Body and mind.
Then she owned his soul and everything stopped for a precise moment in their lives.
He opened her eyes and she unlocked his heart.
They saw the life they could have painted together, but Lola found out the truth and everything fell apart.
They played hide and seek together and both of them lost.
Lola left.
“Beau had always known exactly where to find Lola if he needed her. […] Lola had disappeared without a trace and left no sign she was coming back. That was what his money had bought her.”

Beau stayed behind, picking up what was left of his heart.
Remembering the blue of her alluring eyes. Being haunted by her ghost and her words.
“It was unexpectedly physical, the process of saying goodbye.
[…] He hadn’t just lost Lola when he’d hurt her -he’d given up a life with her.”

This novel doesn’t need any spoiler. Trust me on this.
You need to experience every stop on the road, to inhale every word, every comma, every feeling.
This book will change the colors on your palette from black to rainbow.
“The canyon was still. She wasn’t going to find answers here. They were inside her, but they’d only come with time.”

A life changing road trip throughout America and its beautiful landscapes.
An important decision that will change two lives.
Two lovers.
Two minds.
Two heartbroken souls.
“My love hasn’t gone anywhere. It’s still in the garbage where you left it.”

A once in a lifetime love.
“I do love you.”
She paused. “I know you do, Beau. I always knew. You were the one who didn’t.”

A gifted writer.
A flawless writing.
Read this series. And then find the strength to let these characters go.
“I’m here to bring you home. To get the light back in my life.”
[…]
“You can’t leave L.A., Beau.”
He looked to the side, his eyebrows heavy, wrestling with something. “I could. It’s not home anymore,” he said distantly. “You are. Were.”

True freedom would never come with revenge. -Lola.
I gotta be honest, I didn't care for the direction this story went and I'm bummed even more with how it ended. This was my legit reaction when I got to the end of the audio:

I was hoping that I would see a shift in Beau's priorities and attitude sooner on in this book, but unfortunately, he didn't have his epiphany until like 80%...a little too late for my liking. Also, a majority of the book was spent with him chasing/searching for Lola, so they spent very little actual time together. Honestly, throughout the series, their relationship was made up of like 2 sensually lust filled nights together and then about 3 weeks together, where Lola was seeking revenge against Beau, so there wasn't any depth happening in their relationship. None of that time, in my mind, built for a lasting relationship. Beau actually learned more about Lola, from her estranged mother, than from Lola herself. They both, separately, came to the conclusion that they really did love each other and wanted a future together. That's kind of a thing that should be found out together, IMO. And then there was a plot twist that happened that I LOATHE. That's just a personal preference, but I just had hoped it wouldn't of gone down that path in this book and when it did, I just basically checked out after that.

I can say, as far as the writing, it was good. This story just did not work for me. I needed MORE from both Lola and Beau for me to believe that they were meant to be together in the end :(

3.75 stars, because Lola got even more melodramatic.. but I loved Beau getting dragged and his groveling.

Omg what a wind-up Jessica has given to this story. It gave me a seriously heart damaging whiplash. I've never been so invested in a heroine before and cheer her inner warrior queen.
I loved..loved..LOVED Lola, her character growth was so immense. Nary a conflict, nor a dilemma. She knows why she's on the road and why..the where is still troubling her. A twinge in the heart, a Kiss of air brushing her cheeks and her feet almost turns around to go back to the start.
How does one run away from destiny...and how far?
You have to circle back some time. This story explores WHAT is that point where forgiveness becomes a a necessary tool for survival.
Jessica...you've torn my heart in the first book 1 Possession it took me 2 more to see the repair patches holding up.
The highlight of this book is Beau's Misery, he's rolling on the floor in dismal agony and I should've felt vindicated for Lola, but somehow empty. My cravings and yearning matched Lola's and then the realization hits so hard in the last scene in the Grand Canyon...
Love conquers all.
The tiny Colorado River has cut through the red mountains and her persistence has carved a path into it.
Are we still talking about the mountains??!!!!🤔
Beautiful and captivating story, just poked holes in my soul.
Christian fox has done an outstanding job. Huge applause for him.

Haiz I honestly expected a lot more but this book is bound to be short since the beginning. I wish this is longer!!

Lola taken her revenge on Beau and is now on the run. While Beau wants her back and is dying to find her. We follows both of them as they face up with their feelings once each other is gone. Not a whole lot happen in this one. But once they find each other, they throw their feelings on in the open and well that was a nice closure

Turn out Lola is . Everything wrap up in a nice little package and they get back together again

This book (Books 1-4) was very well-written with nice plot development and characterization. You need to read carefully to appreciate all the gems that the author has littered upon the path. Lola and Beau are both complex characters; there is no simple love/hate for them. You'd love this book if you appreciate the subtlety and nuances of the many facets of character development.

That being said, I don't enjoy reading this book. I often find myself bored with the many descriptions of unimportant (in my opinion) environmental details, I do not enjoy the relationship between Lola and Beau and their relationship is strained throughout the whole book (from book 1 to 4), not to mention they were basically separated all through book 4. I won't say I hate it, I just never find much joy in reading this book.

I would have loved to try this author's other books, except they all have an element of cheating in them, which I absolutely steer clear in my reading. If she writes anything without cheating in the future, I will definitely read them.

Dear David Dylan,
I love you but... Beau. 'nuff said.

"She deserved a man who would fight for her. Lay down his life for her. Who would earn her love, no matter what it took, because he couldn't survive another day without it. A man who could give her the things money couldn't buy."

This book... ugh!!! This one tugged at my heartstrings. It was a completely different pace than the previous books. I feel like the characters were 'balls to wall' for so long that they had to slow down. It was in those slower, honest moments that the truth found its way out from the confines of both Lola and Beau's hearts. They were forced to face the past so they didn't keep tripping on it, in the present.

This book was the turning point of Beau for me. If it was possible for him to come across any more sexy, he did. Don't get me wrong. I love the Beau who confidently knows what he wants and takes it. But we see a different side of Beau in Night Edge. A softer side. He still goes after what he wants, but in a different way.

"You never have to be anything other than you when you're with me."

If you had told me after reading book 1 that this is how it would end. I wouldn't have believed you. The journey that Lola and Beau go on separately and together is nothing short of beautiful. Jessica's writing is, as always, flawless. She tells a story like she's painting a picture... she uses every color and creates the most vivid imagery. She has a gift. I've told her this before (and I'll say it again), but I hope she never stops writing.

Obsession by Jessica Hawkins
Beau did not see the revenge coming but when it happened he was angry and wanted to find Lola. He wanted to destroy her? Lola played the final card which not only hurt Beau but herself as well. While Lola has disappeared, Beau is intent on finding her. He goes through all the motions of being angry, looking for revenge and ultimately looking at himself and realising the part he played in this game. How shallow of a man he became because of his money. He realises that he loves her and not because she turned him down but because she is his equal and she owns his soul. Lola has hidden under the radar while doing a road trip. The trip opened her eyes up to discover what her future may hold. After looking back on everything that they had endured, she knows she still wants him. With her unexpected news and the realisation that LA is home, she heads home. Can Beau convince Lola that he wants her without the games? Can Lola ever forgive him? I must admit I was a bit disappointed in this book. The story lacked a building climax and was lacking conflict. Nothing much happened and most of what did made reference to things that we had read in the previous books. In my opinion, I felt like the author was struggling to conclude this book. The ending was really a bit of blasé and the dialogue was awkward. The head hopping between the characters was confusing. I was hoping for more of a dramatic ending. Overall the series was good but I did feel a bit let down by the ending..

Ok Lola is on the run using her cash so she can’t be tracked driving around the country in a red Lotus?! Pathetic.

She has the cash on her many hundreds of thousands, puts what will fit in a hotel safe and the rest? Trying to find her is Beau as he pays a PI to hunt her down which is apparently difficult until she using a credit card. In Beaus mind he thinks now she wants to be found because she used it. Meanwhile Lola is sightseeing and apparently finding herself after cutting off her nose to spite her face (relevant saying here). Beau is reflecting on what an arsehole he is and starts tuning into who Lola actually is - coz really how is having two encounters gives you such insight into a person? Sex does not equal love people!!

I found the road to redemption for both of these characters well written and spelled out but honestly I just didn’t get why they loved each other two nights and on the second night he reveals it was all an elaborate revenge plot. Sorry JH is an excellent author but the story? Glad it’s over.🙃

I could not put this series down, but in the worst way. I was just dying to get to the end of it. Book one was SO GOOD! Book two…even better. Until the twist. Book three and four were EXCRUCIATING. The two characters from book one and two basically don’t exist. They both completely flipped into selfish, manipulative, revenge-driven douchebags.

This series was high angst—at least to me—and the payoff at the end just was not worth it. They make up in the last two pages and you barely get three seconds of happiness and it’s over. If you’re going to put me through two books of chaos and angst, then I’m going to need you to give me more goodness in the end to soothe the pain away. Even an epilogue would have been nice!

I was hoping it would all be worth it, but in the end, I still miss the characters from the first two books. They had this beautiful love story forming—amid really icky circumstances, I’ll admit—but it’s like it got ripped away from me. I feel bereft. Am I even happy they ended up together? They were both so awful…

I’m just so disappointed. This one will take awhile for me to get over.

I consumed this entire series in two days.
Jessica Hawkins has a certain way of telling a story. She draws you in slowly, then rips the rug from under your feet.
Beau and Lola’s story started on a rocky path. But even with the details of their romance, the emotional path they took was so unexpected and exciting. I had no clue what was going to happen. They continued on this journey that was so different from any romantic story I’ve ever read. And even in the end, it built this tension and anticipation, but left you so satisfied without it. Lola coming to terms with her love for Beau. And Beau truly understanding what Lola needed.
I highly recommend this addicting series.

I can’t believe story is over!! I NEED an epilogue!! I was still full of emotions and then there was nothing to read on anymore! OMG! I LOVE the way this book just gripped me in from the first one. It was amazing!!!
Pretty Woman meets Indecent Proposal indeed!!

I was never a fan of love triangles, and I never end up rooting for the other guy, but, BUT— BEAU! Ugh, I do love him. I love him the most when he’s going crazy and so vulnerable and loses his shit, Lola tested him up to his eyeballs. 😝

I love this series and I’m so happy of the whirlwind it gave me while reading it. ❤️

As we moved into the last book in the series I really started to question how things were going to turn out. Although this isn’t a typical romance book it did end with its own version of a happily ever after.
I would highly recommend this book if you’re looking for something a little bit different.

Lola is using her newfound freedom to travel the country. See things she’s never seen, do whatever she wants to do, answer only to herself. But what is her goal? She didn’t really think past getting her revenge.

Beau is on the hunt for her, too. He has a PI trying to track her down, and as soon as they find a trace of her, he drops everything to go there himself. He’s almost unrecognisable in that respect. It’s like he finally understands that money isn’t power, work isn’t everything, and he can’t just cut Lola out of his life. Out of his heart.

Will they finally both grow up and move forward together? Or has all their childish pettiness ruined things forever?

I have mixed feeling about this. Again. Lola executed her plan perfectly and her disappearance from Beau’s life was flawless. But really, what has she achieved for herself? Yes by the end it ultimately helped Beau see the error of his ways. Helped him realise that work and money aren’t everything and he has to prioritise the people that he loves. But I do feel like he still would’ve gotten there on his own. Maybe it would have been a very slow process but if she’d just talked to him about it, he would’ve figured it out eventually.

I did love how Beau was so consumed by Lola’s disappearance that it finally clicked what life is all about. Yes he worked hard to provide for her, for his mum, for his sister. But money isn’t the same as quality time with a loved one. And Beau finally got that.

I feel like the book ended really abruptly and I would’ve liked an extended epilogue, but it ended in a logical place still.
