The Truth Comes Out...Choices Must Be Made...

The Dark Lord Darnel knows a Curian has returned to the Halls of Knowledge. He must stop this spark before it turns into a raging fire. Alyra's memories have returned. The staggering truth about her past and her former master is more than she can bear.

While Lotari and Stitch try to finalize the building of the Wilderland Meeting Hall, Alyra and Ethan are proving to be a hindrance to their plans. Alyra must decide if she should stay and work through the trials facing her quest, or give in to Lord Darnel’s demands.

Katrina has more help now than she knows how to handle. Tarek, the Racan traitor, is now in her service along with the warriors Jerin and Carah. Jerin is commissioned to help train the townsfolk as they attempt to reclaim the city of Denovo. Katrina must decide if she should give up the search for her missing people, or stay in hiding from the one who knows her secret.

Alburnium can only be saved if everyone will put aside past grievances and stand together for the common good. Unfortunately, wounds run deep and forgiveness means mean weakening defenses in a time when a strong defense is needed more than ever.

Hands down my favorite book in this quickly growing into a new favorite series! It had action, character arcs and choices that both frustrated me yet made them more and more real then they’ve already been and ultimately made me love them more, sweet, swoony romance, and everything in between!

And oh my, yes, it was FINALLY pointed out how the others being so “hostile” towards Tarek not being one of them wasn’t helping in drawing him to their side! Finally!!!! This has been a gripe I’ve had ever since Luminosity and while their actions not being so great was hinted at in Emanate this fully was like, “yo, stop it!” which I really really appreciated. And while having doubts they still tried to be nice to him and I loved that, especially the scene with Tarek and Jerin where Tarek’s just so scared of spoiler things and Jerin stays with him and helps him through it despite his doubts about him and it was so touching and wonderful to see, not to mention poor Tarek’s struggles here and throughout the book broke my heart, the poor guy has been through literal hell.

Speaking of characters being through literal hell, Alyra goes through so so much too and I felt for her, especially one part where she’s talking about something horrible and I could just feel her disconnect and it broke my heart. She certainly has depression from what she’s been through and I liked how the author showed this with her repetitive thoughts on whether to turn herself in to Darnel or not which many may find repetitive, which it is but in a realistic way that even I got frustrated at but only because I was scared she’d do the wrong thing and endanger herself and her friends. And she and Tarek are perfect together, I love their romance so so much! 🥰🥰

Everything is building to a head and the way this book ended left me eager to continue and see what happens as this one ends on the most cliffhanger ending so far, so make sure you have Ignited on hand because you’ll want to jump into it ASAP!

Jackie Castle, author of more than 35 books of various genres, delights in the Lord and in the story worlds she prayerfully creates. Alburnium is the world of The White Road Chronicles, enmeshed in a conflict between the brooding domain of demon-enhanced dark King Darnel and the exquisite land of righteous Prince Issah, son of King Shadon, the eternal and true ruler of Alburnium. In the midst of this conflict shine two “illuminates,” both once slaves of Darnel, now battling him for their lives and the future of Alburnium. Alyra and Tarek. At this point in the series, they are bound to one another and determined, despite opposition on many sides, to love one another forever.

This is a romance story, a high fantasy, an engaging drama. I loved it. I have read it several times since I purchased it in 2015!

Jackie explores how depression, unforgiveness, fear, or pride can displace one’s trust in God, one’s self-confidence, and one’s ability to fulfill one’s calling. The characters shift over and over between their own ideas and counsel, and the directives from Prince Issah. Jackie illustrates beautifully how God sees and knows all about it and never stops supporting, guiding, healing and restoring His own.

In one memorable scene, Prince Issah commends a centaur who once had hidden in his woods, seeking to serve King Shadon by caring for the plants and animals there, too terrified (of anyone who was not a centaur) to step outside that safe parameter. However, when Prince Issah had asked the timid centaur to help a confused and terrified human girl, he had obeyed, leaving his comfortable safe place to enter a very difficult adventure with fellow believers:

“I’m sure, even to this day, he has no idea how his one act of kindness was a stone that caused a great ripple across this land… That one act of kindness eventually resulted in locating one of the few remaining Curians… And setting captives of Racah free. That one act of kindness has sent warriors out to reclaim lost cities and lands. That one act of kindness has made it possible to draw the drakes from their hiding places.”

This is one very biblical moment among many in the story that parallels Scripture beautifully.

It’s all about love. Love that overcomes. Love that heals. Love that endures.

This is possibly my favorite book in the series because of how it challenges me to be honest about the things displacing my own trust and ready willingness to act on the divine appointments God gives me. I love the characters and the complexity of the various community and creature cultures Jackie develops. It is one of those fantasies one can read over and over and discover new treasures in it each time!

I gave it 4 stars because of grammatical and spelling errors in the text. However, in content, it is 5 stars!

Eager for more

Book four carries on the safa, as trust is given, earned, and lost. Our little ally Alyra is learning painfully slow, to seek the prince's will over her own, while her friends learn to trust in the path laid for them. Another good read.

Read the prequel series first! Love this series

Reading a book every 36 hours probably isn't healthy, but I have loved this series, off to the next one!

Ok, so I know I said book three was my favorite, but... this one is even better. The only bone I have to pick is that it isn't the last book! The next one is supposed to come out sometime early 2016. Wonderful allegory that retells the story of God's love and forgiveness through his son. Though the words "God" and "Jesus" aren't used. Good writing, great fantasy with all the quirky characters including some beasts and creatures, and well rounded characters. No sexual content or swearing. There is romance and there is violence. Epic story of good versus evil. I give it five stars, loved it, and can recommend for ages teens and up (and any fantasy love, you do not have to be a Christian to enjoy this book!) While I am waiting for book five, I see the author has written a few "stories" about the White Road, so....

I am so happy to be able to give this book 5 stars! The storytelling has been good throughout this series, but this book has also had the advantage of a good editor, making it so much easier to read and more enjoyable.

Great story.

The story is superb. There are numerous grammatical errors, but if you can read without letting that bother you this book is worth the price and time.
