I loved this! It really keeps you guessing and wondering. I love the dark romance genre. This one has obsession in it as well. Luciano is possessive and Eleanor is a detective trapped in forced proximity with slow burn. I can't wait for Book 2!

If you are looking for some spice? This book is not for you.
But if you are looking for TENSION? YESS YESSS!!!
Honestly for me, this book is one of them who lingers in your mind whenever you are working or being responsible in general, lol.
It's fascinating to see Eleanor's POV, and honestly it's above my vocabulary bracket, yet still gripping me enough to continue and figure out whats going to happen next. Especially with how ice cold Luciano is, how protective and dark he is, yum.
I'll be lurking around for book 2😋

It surprisingly have good political tensions among rival families and within the Mortello council...
And it has good fight scenes...
Fmc does not back down. She stays smart and cautious.. only 'conceding' as much as needed to survive.
It's great. It just didnt wow me. And some of the internal monologues are a bit drawn out.
I feel bad for David tho.

Under His Name Part I is a dark, atmospheric read power, control, intelligence ops, and dangerous obsession.
What hooked me was the tension between Eleanor and Luciano. It's not a simple romance. There's this constant struggle over control, trust, and power. Their interactions are uncomfortable sometimes, but I couldn't look away.
Eleanor doesn't just go passive. She stays sharp, analytical, and I liked watching her figure out the world she's pulled into.
Luciano is intimidating in a controlled way. Calm, calculated, which makes him feel even more dangerous. His growing attachment to Eleanor messes with the control system he's always relied on, and that adds another layer of tension.
The writing is deliberate and atmospheric. Silence, body language, power dynamics it all creates this sense of unease. Some parts could've been tighter though. Certain words and descriptions repeat enough that the pacing drags a bit.
Still, the story kept me curious. The political and criminal elements give it depth, and Eleanor and Luciano's complicated connection is the emotional heart.
This is clearly Part I, not a standalone. Ending leaves the door open. If you like dark romance with psychological tension, morally complicated characters, and power struggles, give it a shot.
