Emma Davis moves to Alaska to start a relationship with her biological sister (Emma was given up for adoption when her mother overdosed and her father was jailed) after she ends an abusive marriage. She's lived in Diamond Creek, Alaska, for three years and works as a mental health therapist.

One day while fishing with her sister and a friend, she accidentally catches her fishing hook on a young boy's hat. The boy is not hurt. Emma is embarrassed and apologizes. The boy's father, Trey Holden, moved from Anchorage where he'd been a lawyer two years ago after his wife died unexpectedly. Trey now runs a "flightseeing" operation and works part-time as a lawyer. He's 40 to Emma's 34 and drop-dead gorgeous.

However, Emma has reservations about a relationship with him because she thinks anyone who finds out about her abusive marriage will be put off and lose interest. Emma's obsession with her marriage was what made me rate this book as only "OK." I found it hard to believe that anyone would be so insecure and afraid of other people being judgmental, especially someone who's a therapist. (I've never been in an abusive relationship, so maybe this is a real thing; it just didn't ring true with me.)

Of course, Trey's son, Stuart, loves Emma immediately and she yearns to be part of the Holdens' family relationship. Predictably, her ex tracks her down in Alaska, but, equally predictably, he's dispatched quickly and everyone lives HEA.

Slow and Repetitive

The book started out ok but the second half was struggling for substance big time. The conversations were inane and overly repetitive so much that at 77% I had to quit!
The descriptive sex was overdone too and just didnt fit in this story. Then, Stella is a client of Emmas and those visits were repetitive and...why bring this character in???
Too much of a struggle to finish this!!!

Good & bad

Good plot with interesting world building. Likable characters and a good side story. If you read one sex scene you've read them all because they were all the same. I didn't understand why Emma thought Trey wouldn't want to be with her or that anyone would want to be with her. That made no sense to me. The story was interesting and the romance was good but at one point you felt like Emma was TDTL. Ok read.

Having the abusive ex show up 3 years later was a bit of a stretch for me, just to create conflict.

I love Croix’s books. I have read the other 3 books in this series already and enjoyed them all. Unbroken Love is the story of Emma and Trey. Emma has loved to Alaska to escape her past, which begins tearing its ugly head…. This is a story of trust, self forgiveness, healing, and love. I always love a romance taking place in Alaska. This has some pretty “smexy” (smoking/sexy) scenes and also maybe a trigger warning to domestic violence survivors.

Emma, Hannah (Emma’s sister), & Susie (both girls BFF) were going fishing at the Homer Spit (Halibut Capital of the World).
Luke is Hannah’s husband.

The girls really weren’t that great at this sport.
A little guy Stuart Holden (son) was yelling at Emma because she had hooked his hat. Trey Holden (40+, father, widow, piolet, wilderness flightseeing business) came to investigate.
They all exchanged their formalities.

When Emma (divorced) got back with the 2 girls they teased her about him.
Emma had left a very abusive relationship with Greg 3 yrs. ago back in Connecticut.
Emma was a MSW clinical therapist at the Kachemak Bay (Cook Inlet) Counseling center.
Stuart & Trey (lawyer, retired USAF) just happened to be at the grocery store when Emma was shopping.
Later on Stuart & Trey asked Emma to go fishing again.
Trey fixed Salmon for supper & Stuart introduced Emma to the other 2 family members: Tootsie (cat) & Neon (goldfish).
How will this romantic story turn out?
Narcissistic, low self-esteem & possessive, that’s what I say about these individuals. Domestic violence in hetero-gay or lesbian relationship has no boundaries or class. In 9 yrs. as a crisis social worker how many times I have heard this story from woman. Like all law enforcement it goes in spurts some yrs. their on the woman’s side. The local battered woman’s organization is always on their side. Anger management is geared for both parties. The restraining order seldom does any good. Then there is law enforcement & their wives or G/F or mistresses. How do you corral that?

Warning: This book is for adults only & contains extreme violence, adult content or language &/or sexually explicit scenarios. It may be offensive to some readers.

I did not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review. Only an honest one.

A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written steamy hot Alaskan erotic romance book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors I noticed or found, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great Alaskan erotic romance movie, or paid-per-view mini TV series. & even something for you pet lovers. To be continued. There is no doubt in my mind this is a very easy rating of 5 stars.

Thank you for the free Goodreads; Author; PDF book

This is a story involving Emma and Trey. Emma previously relocated to Diamond Creek to find her biological sister after finding out she was adopted, and to escape her abusive marriage to Gary. Initially, Emma is closed off about her previous marriage and doesn't talk about it. Emma blames herself for getting involved and staying with Gary as long as she did, as she is a therapist and in her mind should have known better. Emma is continuing to be victimized by her past marriage with Gary and doesn't feel she is worthy of love, and has kept herself shut off from the possibility of love.

Trey, is a widowed, single father of a 6-year-old boy, Stuart, and is an attorney and pilot. It is through Stuart as to how Emma and Trey met and they start a relationship. Emma is very worried about her past and feels that she isn't good enough due to her past. As Emma opens up to her biological sister and her friends, she begins to heal and allow Trey into her world.

Emma has been receiving private phone calls to her cell phone on periodic occasions since she divorced Gary. Finally, Emma opens up to her friends and Trey about these calls, and soon Gary is in Diamond Creek. Gary's presence shows Emma that her past world of pain with Gary can now lead to a future of love and support through her family, friends, Trey and Stuart.

This is the second book that I have read by J.H. Croix in her Diamond Creek, Alaska Novels Book Series. I previously read and reviewed, Follow Love, the second book of the series. The nice thing about this series is each book can be read on its own and you don't have to read the entire series. I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

*I did receive this novel as a free ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.*

Love Unbroken is the 3rd book in Diamond Creek, Alaska Novels.

Love Unbroken follows Emma & Trey. Trey is a lawyer & pilot flying tourists, & Emma is a counselor working with a troubled youth. Both Trey & Emma are fairly new to the Diamond Creek area, both have been there about 3 years.

Emma & Trey are instantly attracted to each other while meeting at a salmon fishing pool.
Trey's son wants Emma to come over, and wants her to be a 'lady friend' for his father.

We learn that Emma was married before and in a violent relationship with her husband. Although the author does not dip into what exactly Emma went through, i.e., if she just received a black eye, or broken bones, or if it was just more of a mental type abuse, we do not know that.

Ghost's from Emma's past come to Diamond Creek. Trey tries to keep her close, but, that only sends her backing away.

Through this novel, we have very steamy 'relations' with Emma & Trey. Very steamy.

I don't remember the other 2 novels having a lot of 'relations' as this book does.

This story line of Emma & Trey was very well told.

Love Unbroken is the third book in the Diamond Creek Alaska series by J. H. Croix. This book is about Emma Davis, Hannah's older sister that had been given up for adoption when Hannah's parents were young. Emma moved to Diamond Creek from North Carolina following a visit to meet Hannah. Of course, she fell in love with Alaska as do many that visit the state. This story takes place 3 years after her move. During a fishing trip in Homer, Alaska, Emma meets Trey Holden and his young son, Stuart. Emma was previously abused by her husband, Greg. She escaped to Alaska and divorced him right away. So as her relationship with Trey evolves she has many issues to get through. Unfortunately, Greg shows up in Diamond Creek.

The sex is sizzling and might be offensive to some. I believe it shows that when you meet the "right" person, the chemistry can make sex pretty amazing.

Being an Alaskan for 50+ years, I love the author's descriptions of our state: beautiful mountains, bays, volcanos, moose, eagles, fireweed - many of the things I love about living in Alaska. If you have never been here then this book will make you want to visit!

"Love unbroken" is the third novel in the Diamond Creek Alaska series. I was introduced to Ms Croix and her books when I read "When Love Comes" the first novel in the series. Throughout the last three books, I have come to learn that Miss Croix does a phenomenal job telling the reader her stories and "Love unbroken" was no different. I love the way that Miss Croix describes how Emma overcame the cruelty and abuse from her first marriage. I also Love the way Trey handled what had and was happening to Emma, even though she did not want not want him to "handle" anything, she wanted to do it on her own.
Again, Ms. Croix does phenomenally outstanding job describing the scenery of Alaska. Her descriptions of Diamond Creek and the surrounding areas make me want to move there, and I hate the cold! However, living in that area that beautiful scenery would make it worth it!

I want to thank JH Croix for the ARC copy of this book my honest opinion. Jessica, in my opinion definitely you have another winner in Love Unbroken!

This is a great book of contemporary romance, and a wonderful series! Thank you for reading my review. I know you will love this book as much as I have.

The Diamond Creek, Alaska Series is a favorite of mine, and Mrs. Croix did not disappoint with Love Unbroken! I love how vulnerable and "real" the characters are in these stories. Emma and Trey both have their pasts they are working to overcome when they begin their journey together. However, Emma's past seems to haunt her and it threatens their relationship. (Her past involves domestic violence and thus there is a "bit" of this in the story) The story is well developed and thoroughly enjoyable! I always enjoy the interwoven stories of the previous couples and of those we have yet to learn about! Those interwoven pieces keep me connected to the series...it's like visiting old friends in each story! The scenic imagery of their town and other parts of Alaska is amazing and makes me long to visit Alaska again.
Technically, you could read this as a stand-alone novel, but it will be so much more fulfilling and enjoyable if you have read the series!
I can't wait to read Suzie and Jared's story...September can't come soon enough!!!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Emma the sister of Heather has lived in Diamond Creek a few years now. Never dating to going out with men. She figured that part of her life was over. After divorcing her abusive husband. She was just glad to be free. Trey has focused on raising his son Stuart after the death of his wife. He didn't think he would ever find anyone else. When Emma hooks Stuart's hat fishing one day they sparks fly between them. Trying to take things slow is hard and when Emma's past comes back can they even build a relationship with everything hanging over her head.
You met Emma in the first book when she is looking for her biological parents and Hannah is looking for the sister that was put up for adoption. Trey was such a sweet character. He loved his son and wanted to be the best possible father. Stuart thinks his dad needs a women friend and he decides on Emma. Emma spent so much time worrying I wasn't sure she would ever make a commitment to Trey. I love that this series is on KU so I can keep reading.

I absolutely loved this book! Like the main male characters in the other books, Trey was charming, gentle, sweet, chivalrous and manly. I loved seeing his gentle, caring side with both his son and Emma. Emma was a great character with lots of depth. She was strong and determined, which was something I came to admire considering her past. Stuart and Emma were so sweet in many of the scenes. Emma's ex Greg was a good villain for the story, and the climax to the story kept me on my toes and it really impacted the story. I have no criticism for this book, which means it must be good, because usually there's at least one thing in a book that I think needs tweaking. Again, J.H described Alaska so beautifully that I want to visit. I'm so completely in love with this series. Another great book in the Diamond Creek series!

Wow! What an awesome book! I keep thinking this author can't top the last book, but then she does it again...and again. Now I have to wait til September. Ahhhhh!!! Back to this one..I loved it from page one on. A little spicier than the other two, which is definitely YUMMY!, this love story has a stumbling block that I was so pleased with how it was introduced, handled, and resolved. No spoiler offered, but so worth the read on many levels. The love story is just sweet. Trey and Emma belong together. It was so comfortable to read about them it felt like I knew them. I love Stuart. What a sweet little boy he is! I will continue to read this series because I love the way J.H. writes. Three books and I am thrilled to have read all three.

J.H. Croix's books in the Diamond Creek, Alaska series never disappoint me. Each book concentrates on the love story of a resident of Diamond Creek. Third in this series of standalone novels, "Love Unbroken" is about Emma and Trey. Trey and his son, Stuart moved to Diamond Creek after losing his wife a few years ago. Emma is Hannah's sister(from book 1) who has relocated to Diamond Creek to escape an abusive relationship. She runs into Trey and son while salmon fishing. There is a mutual attraction, tho both are reluctant at first to acknowledge it. However Stuart has his own designs on Emma. ;) They begin seeing each other, then Emma receives a lot of texts from an unknown number. J.H. writes her characters with love and honesty who shine as ordinary people. Loved this one as much as the first 2.

Here's another Diamond Creek romance

This story follows Emma, who moved to Diamond Creek, Alaska, to escape a horrible marriage. She found her bio sister and came to meet her...their parents were killed in a plane crash a couple of years earlier. She had followed up on info from her adoptive parents, and tracked down Hannah...the sister she never knew she had. (See the first book in this series for Hannah's story...)

As a counselor, Emma knows what a victim goes through and how to help. As the victim herself, she isn't doing so great. Not believing she has anything to offer in the romance department, she has nearly sworn off men. OOPS! She meets Trey...and all bets are off.

With love, fear, friends, family, and a newfound appreciation for herself, Emma's story is so worth reading!

The level of intensity with each book in the series has risen higher every time. This being the third in the series I have found it to be better put together and wonderful with the amount of detail not becoming too boring. I realize that not everyone is going to read the books in order so I make it a point to ignore the repetitive description of everything. It is a fantastic series so far and I am looking forward to the next two books!

Good read, part of a series but can be read as a stand alone; no cliffhanger; HEA; Emma escaped from an abusive marriage, Trey is a widower with a young son; when they meet it's an instant attraction for both but when Emma's ex turns up in town and causes problems, will their relationship last

OK

GeneraL story was ok. Story got bogged down in the formerly abused wife's lack of confidence and trust. Probably won't give this author another chance, since by 3/4 in I was just wanting this story to be over.

#3 in the Diamond Creek, Alaska romance series

What an exciting story! This time we get to know Hannah's sister, Emma, better. She moved to Alaska a couple of years ago to meet her half sister, but also to get away from an abusive ex-husband. Now she's settled in, with a home and a job as a therapist and a bunch of good friends. When she meets Trey, a widowed father of a little boy, she feels sparks immediately. As their romance speeds forward with crazy chemistry, she has abused-person doubts about her worthiness for happiness and feels embarrassed about her situation since she's a therapist and should have seen the signs. When ex-husband Greg starts making phone calls and then appears on the scene, things get exciting. I loved the characters this time. Emma is calm and patient--a great therapist, as we see when she counsels a teenaged girl. She has typical doubts about whether or not she deserves happiness, and it makes sense that she'd worry about Trey's and his son's safety since her ex is on the loose. Trey, for his part, is solid and dependable and sexy, He's a great single father and a successful lawyer/pilot. Their relationship is sweet and romantic as they build together quickly, but they also are sensitive to Stuart's (Trey's son) needs. Family and friends are supportive, and the community rallies around when things get dangerous. Lots of romantic moments, some action scenes, typical Alaskan scenery and fishing descriptions, with a very satisfying ending. I look forward to reading Susie and Jared's story next since the tension between them has been building for 3 books so far.

Emma moved to Diamond Creek when she was looking for her birth parents but found a sister she never knew instead. She was also fleeing from an abusive ex husband. She doesn't tell anyone much about her marriage or the fact that she is getting calls where no one says anything for the last three years. She meets Trey and there are sparks immediately. She see him around town a couple more times before his son asks her to go fishing with them. Then she starts getting more of these calls. after a few dates and a lot of consideration she finally tells Trey about her ex and the calls that she thinks are him. Then her ex shows up in Diamond Creek and all her fears are brought back and she pulls away from Trey so that he and his son are safe from her ex. When her ex starts to get violent he is arrested but his new wife flies out and bails him out. Things really escalate from there when he goes after Emma again this time with a gun. Will Trey and Jared get to her in time before he can hurt her? Will he get away this time? Will Trey and Emma finally realize that what they feel for each other is true love even though it has happened so fast or will Emma walk away from Trey for good?

I love all of J.H. Croix's books! There are two Diamond Creek series and I'm flying through all of them. Each can be read on their own but who wants to stop at just one?
You first learn about Emma in Hannah's story (When Love Comes). She is Hannah's sister that neither one new about until after their parents died. After reading Hannah's story I wanted to find out about Emma's and figure out why she got divorced. You could tell she was running from something. And boy did she ever have something to run from! I felt so bad for her because she felt like such a real person to me due to the author's really good writing. J.H. Croix is very descriptive in her characters and the scenery around them. You feel like you are right there with them in this gorgeous little town in Alaska.
Trey is a widowed single dad and doesn't expect love to happen. He thinks he should just focus on his kid, Stuart. Until Emma comes along that is! Their chemistry is hot, hot hot! Stuart is so cute and plays a big role in matchmaking as well as Emma's friend Susie. I'm reading her story next!
I'm so glad Emma is able to conquer her past and have a HEA with Trey and Stuart.

This is the second book I've read in the Diamond Creek Series, and I liked it as much as the other one. The author understands to create characters that are genuine, I as a reader had the feeling I do know people who act like this or react like that.
After finally having fled and divorced from her abusive husband, Emma settles down in Diamond Creek, Alaska, where her half-sister Hannah lives, and finds peace. This peace is shattered when during a fishing trip, she inadvertently catches little Stuart's hat with her fishing rod, and meets his widowed father, Trey. Although a therapist herself, Emma feels she does not deserve new happiness, and Trey himself has never thought of finding someone else after the death of his wife - until he meets Emma. The air between those two is sizzling, but there are a lot of obstacles to overcome.
Great plot, and like I said before, realistic characters with real fears and behaviourisms.
A good flowing narration style, peppered with a lot of humorous situations and dialogues, make this a very enjoyable book which I myself found it difficult to put down to deal with real life.
After this book I definitely fell in love with this series.

Love Unbroken is the 3rd book in the Diamond Creek Series by J.H Croix. Emma moved to Diamond Creek, Alaska to get away from her abusive husband and meet her biological family. Trey and his son Stuart moved to Diamond Creek after the death of his wife. Call it fate but they keep bumping into one another and his son immediately invites Emma over to their house. Trey and Emma are instantly attracted to each other and she worries that her history with her abusive husband will become a deal breaker for him. Emma and Trey relationship is fast paced with many twist and turns. I enjoyed reading about old favorite characters and places in Diamond Creek. A very enjoyable read. I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.

Sweet, sad love story within the beautiful Alaskan vistas

This is my first book by this author & hopefully not my last. I am always intrigued by books set in Alaska, since I’ve never been. (I appreciate the actual real locations, as I love to look them up on a map!). Meeting all the characters that hang together as friends filled out the story so nicely!

Trey & Emma are electric together and also have terrific professional lives. I appreciate the way Emma is presented during her sessions with patients (as a therapist). And gosh, Trey is the perfect hot, single dad! Their interactions did seem fast, but given the circumstances, it made sense.

And thank you for the thoughtful consideration of abuse.
