In Weakest Lynx author Fiona Quinn introduced us to Lexi Sabado and the Iniquus group of heroes that surrounded her in an ultra tense, emotionally charged, powerhouse of a book. Then she came back with the sequel Missing Lynx that pushed Lexi out into a horrible situation that left you on the edge of your seat. Now in Chain Lynx, Lexi is in hiding, trying to survive the wounds of her ordeal, while searching for the reasons it happened. Within the space of these three books Fiona Quinn has become one of my favorite authors because her characters bounce off the page with a heroic quality that you can’t help but be emotionally invested in and want to cheer for. Lexi battles through the worst possible situations with such intelligence, perseverance, and charm that you can’t help but be amazed. Where others might be lost in the devastation of their injuries, and the memories of their attacks, Lexi bulls ahead as if its the only option. This is a great series, an awesome writer, and I give this book my highest recommendation.

Book 3 of Fiona Quinn’s high-octane series continues to pump a lot of action and mental strategizing into a compelling narrative that explores the worlds of black ops, accident rehabilitation, and the camaraderie of teammates.

Lexi Sobado uses up another of her nine lives by surviving a terrible plan wreck after her prison interment. She’s found in the nick of time, quite literally as she’s passing to the other side, and begins a painful rehabilitation for her physical wounds and her emotional trauma from both wrong turns.

The “right” turn is her life is Strike Force Team. They are dedicated to keeping her safe and under the radar, even when the bad guys come after her with lethal intentions. Lexi doesn’t know what she did to be on anyone’s hit list, and she’s got time to puzzle it out as she mends.

I enjoyed the relationships of the team members and her love interest, Striker. Another highlight I enjoyed was the way her psychic senses used fairy tales to parse out information to her. This story definitely made me think and wonder why the guy pulling the strings in this story was always a step ahead. Not once does the author hint that there’s an “inside man” but Lexi’s dream about a rat is an excellent means of foreshadowing that rings true once Lexi puzzles out the scenario.

I recommend this series, and you should start with book one for maximum enjoyment.

Didn't care for this at all, and I was so looking forward to reading the next new adventure. The storyline is very drawn out and boring in places. Kind of hard to follow. Doubt if I get the fourth one unless it is free.

San Antonio, TX (Bexar County). Lackland AF Base hospital. India “Lexi” Rueben Sobado (21, narrator) was recovering.
She had been beaten to a pulp by Travis Wilson.
Striker was there to support her.
Dr. Morrissey had done laser treatments on her scars.

The Strike Force team: Dr. Axel White (PhD; criminal psychology), Chris, Andy, Randy, Deep, Jack, Blaze, Striker, & Gater (Lexi’s BF, Iniquus) had arrived to see how Lexi was coming along.
Maria Rodriguez (Lexi’s kidnapper) was in custody & awaiting trial.
Amy was in love with Gater (Lexi’s ex-BF).
Dr. Kloss finally released Lexi.
The Assembly was a male prayer group who had connections to Capitol Hill that included: House Reps, Senators, Presidents, Judges, & anyone with past/present governmental influence.

You’re not going to find any information about this group anywhere.
It seems Bill Kennedy (reporter) had gained some access to this secret organization.
It has been determined by Talbot Lexi killed Travis Wilson m in self-defense, all charges were dropped.
Omega had a lucrative contract in Afghanistan.
Jim Noble had ordered CQ2 gang to kill Maria & Julio (codes trustee).
Officer Mulhainey & Officer Orloff could be next.
Do Striker & Lexi “Chica” have something going on?

Warning: This book contains extremely graphic adult content, violence, or expletive language &/or uncensored sexually explicit material which is only suitable for mature readers. It may be offensive or have potential adverse psychological effects on the reader.

I did not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review. Only an honest one.

An awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very professionally written operative thriller book. It was quite easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a large set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great operative thriller movie, or better yet a mini TV series. There is no doubt in my mind this is an amazingly easy rating of 5 stars.

After compulsively reading the first two books, I downloaded this one and it just as fast. This one took up where the second one left off, just like the prior books. Lexi's in much worse shape this time, and she has a long road back to health and, this time, to Striker. A compelling red, Lexi is not your "same old, same old" heroine trope, Lexi provides a fresh and different kind of quirky, kick-ass girl to love. With a unique combination of gifts, combined with her unconventional upbringing, she is mature beyond her years in some ways, and refreshingly naive in others. It all works to keep the reader glued to Lexi's side as she faces some pretty extraordinary circumstances that the author bravely confronts without sugarcoating her fiction. Ms. Quinn's unique expertise lends a verisimilitude in spots that will have you suffering alongside of Lexi. On the flip side, strong relationships evolve between Lexi and the secondary characters, drawing the reader close to the men of Strike Force (not to mention, these guys are hot, and there's nothing not to like!) The fact that she burrows straight into their hearts and souls with home cooked meals makes me smile.

The chemistry between Lexi and Striker sizzles on the page, but their path into each other's arms is not fast, or without a lot of necessary thought. I like the slow burn as they get to know each other on multiple levels. This makes for a more satisfying, and hard won union. He is my kind of guy all the way: alpha when it counts, but sensitive and caring enough when it matters.

The plots within all the books are self-contained with an underlying arc. The LYNX series is smart, engaging, fast-paced, with well-drawn characters and enough romantic tension to keep you coming back for more!

2024 Review: I listened to this book instead of reading it and enjoyed it much more than my previous review. Upgrading rating from 3 stars to 4.

2018 Review: I was put off by several things in this book. For starters, the formatting errors were distracting and the made-up words were annoying. Most importantly, there is the implausibility of most of the plot.

Lexi had an unusual upbringing, but it is so unlikely that she could do all the things that were necessary for her survival. She's supposed to be super intelligent and intuitive, but I figured out the villain three-fourths into the book while she and Striker were dismissing all of her suspicions. Why would they suddenly rely on logic and proof when they acted on her instincts for the entire first two books? Why would this man who is so completely in love with and uber-protective of her not see the obvious traitor in their midst? The final straw of my disappointment was the way everything that happened to her, despite coming from multiple attackers, was so neatly wrapped up by one person giving a long-winded explanation of the interconnectedness of all the violence directed at her. Confessions like that are so insulting.

Of course the nugget tossed out in the final scenes is about Spyder, his absence for most of three books, and the temptation to keep reading to see how that thread in the story line is tied up. I will pass. While there are many things that I liked about Lexi's character, her relationship with Striker, and the dedication of their teammates, too much of the details are over the top for the series to continue being enjoyable. Interestingly enough, I have no problems with the paranormal elements or the creativity of that part of the story line, and that is why this book still gets three stars. I'm more frustrated with and disappointed in the sloppy twists, contrived connections between too many antagonists, and complete triteness of the ending.

Given how the second novel in Fiona Quinn’s Lynx series, ‘Missing Lynx’, ended, I foresaw a potential problem with the author’s use of a first-person narrative in this one. Either there would be a major time-jump to allow her heroine to recover or it would be in danger of not being as fast-paced and entertaining as the previous two books. I’m glad to say I was wrong on both counts!

The new novel, ‘Chain Lynx’, picks up immediately after book two and we live through protagonist Lexi’s recovery as she fights to regain her previous formidable abilities and skills. In the hands of a lesser writer, this might have been a different, less interesting approach, but Fiona Quinn is more than up to the challenge. She uses subtle inference and gentle tension almost constantly to keep readers turning pages as she lays out the foundation for the resolution of a story arc carried throughout these three novels. For lovers of pure action, though, there’s plenty of that too at just the right moments in the narrative to make the greatest impact.

There were two developments in this third book in the series that stood out for me. First, the all-powerful Iniquus which served as Lexi’s safety net in the previous novels has a competitor, just as efficient and resourceful, and staffed too by ex-military special ops soldiers, but with a far less predominant moral and ethical outlook on how they do business which makes them a dangerous factor for the protagonists. And, finally, Lexi’s attack dogs get to bite someone!

All in all a superb novel that offers the opportunity to learn more about the protagonist and her co-workers and ties up some of the on-going mysteries in the series. Bring on the next book! A great read for lovers of outstanding thrillers.

The third book in this series about Lexi Sobado (Lynx). To understand this book, you have to have read the first 2 books. They are interconnected.

I cannot even describe how amazing this book is. I do not easily give 5 stars on Goodreads. But I received the book this morning on my Kindle and I have been reading all day, unable to put it down.

Do not read further if you have not read book 2 (SPOILERS)

Lexi has escaped the prison in Honduras and has crashed her plane. Her Iniquus team members have found her and transported her to a hospital as she is injured real bad. As you remember, she actually died at the end of book 2. Her pain and the descriptions of her condition are very authentic.
It is clear Fiona Quinn has done outstanding research, I was awed at how intricate the plot is.

Striker and Lexi are in love, but Lexi has to heal and must stay hidden because of her unknown enemies. I like them as a couple and would love for them to build a life together.

This series has earned a spot on my keeper-shelf and I am looking forward to the next book.

Reviewing the first three books of the series:

Absolutely love this series! The first book started out a little slow for my doing, and I actually put it away for a bit. When I then continued reading things started to get really exciting/scary/entertaining, and a lot more fast paced.

I love the gore and the bloody details, and the harsh reality of the protagonists' injuries. For some reason, this makes the story all the more real to me. Had some trouble with the whole "behind the veil" thing, it seems there's a dollop of paranormal mixed into this story, but once I just accepted that everything was fine. Great, even! Except for our protagonist. Man is she having a bad year. Such misery, such pain! And all the scars, I almost started to feel self conscious about them on her behalf.

Really excited what to come in book 4 this fall. Bring it on! Though I do hope there's some good news in there for Lexi finally, she sure deserves it.

I was

disappointed in this book. Book two and book three have a lot in common. Too much talking and little action! Book two, I swear I was in prison with Lynx. Her time in prison went on and on and on. This book picks up, after her plane crashes. She's in the hospital, with terrible injuries. Lynx, Striker and the team, catch up on her stay and escape from prison. There's lots of speculation as to who is bad and how they fit into the puzzle. I kept thinking, move on. Then she's some place safe, with her team rotating guarding Lynx. The plot is not moving much. No real action yet. Way to much time speculating. Going over everything, again and again. I do want to thank Fiona, for having her books in Kindle Unlimited. Thank you so much!! I am a lover of Fiona's books. I recommend her books. If you are reading her Lynx series, then you absolutely have to start, at book one. Lots of information in this book, that answer questions, from the past book.

Lexi is back in a blazing new new psychic suspense thriller that is Quinn's best yet! The book opens with Lexi in the ICU recovering from near fatal, horrific wounds at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas. As Lexi struggles to regain her physical health, she is surrounded and protected by her faithful Iniquus team. She learns she is the target of Iniquus' rival, another superior, highly trained team of ex-military operators with lack the ethics and moral values of Iniquus. Once again Quinn has packed her newest release with shapr, witty writing, great plot twists and vivid descriptions. In short, I couldn't put it down... After all, I am a Lexie Sabado fan. Recommend highly.

You must read the first two books to understand this book. Since the story doesn’t end with this book you will now need to read the fourth book. I rated this book a two because I just got tired of the story line. In the first book she spends her time “Puzzeling” out her stalker. In the second book she spends her time trying to figure how to get out of the prison where she is held captive. In the third book she spends her time recovering from a plane crash from her escape from prison. During this time she tries to figure out why someone has a contract out on her. I am very tired of the slow pace of this series. I don’t need to know her every thought.

Another Winner In Fiona Quinn's Lynx Series!!!

After the cliff hanger we were left with in Missing Lynx Fiona delved right in and started another adventure with her fast paced, gripping style! Lexi has survived!! She and Stryker (with the rest of the team) make formidable opponents and again I loved the further development of characters and the excellent storyline! I look forward to seeing what the future holds and am waiting excitedly to have Spyder, Stryker and Lexi in one of the upcoming novels!!!

Would've been really good

I really enjoyed the first book in the series, the second was okay, but by the third book I started to lose interest. I started to skip ahead to get past the really slow parts, and at the end, I can already tell that the next book will have the main character in danger again. This scenario is getting tiring. The main character is always in danger or injured, and the romance was slow and fast all at once. It was shallow. This will be the last book I read in this series.

Lexi has made it out of prison and crash landed the plane she stole. Now that her team has found her they have to do everything they can to keep her safe, and get rid of the people after her.

This was another great book in the series. I loved how Lexi's team was there for her, and made things easier for her. And it was nice to add a little bit of romance drama to it as well.

I can't wait for more.

Just keeps getting better

I love this series and each book keeps getting better. We find lexie barely alive and the team trying to keep her that way. Lexie is still unraveling the puzzle around her kidnapping and who wants her dead. Striker and lexie evolve their relationship in a really good way. I can't wait for the next one!

I like the series. This is the third book I've read. Lexi is an intriguing character.

I place this series at the upper end of the young adult category. I think the audience is probably late high school, first year college. Lexi will appeal to many of the go get 'em I can do it young women out there.

Wow! Oh the tangled web we weave...

The twists and turns this story takes just leaves you breathless. Just when you think you have solved the mystery, disaster strikes and a new puzzle has to be worked. I had to take break from reading to get my thoughts and emotions together. Don't miss this series!!

I love this book!

The story is scary good! I really love the characters and Lexi in particular. Gater is too cool! The three is only for poor editing and I hate that the editing took this book from a 4 to a a 3.

This one was drawn out

I'm thinking this will brew my least favorite book in the series. It was too drawn out. It became repetitive in some spots. There were a couple of situations that seemed to go nowhere. And the plot was convoluted.

The plot thickens. The action continues, relentlessly.

A few hours after the end of Missing Lynx, and the tension has not bled off. Lynx is in a hospital; condition critical.

Meanwhile another organization, Omega – seemingly involved in similar areas of concern to Lynx’s Iniquus – has been contracted by the FBI and is carrying out a sealed order to find and kill Lynx.

Lynx’s recover from near-death is slow. It is detailed – and while the reader is engaged in watching over Lynx’s progress, Iniquus brings all of its resources into play to hide and protect Lynx, as they find themselves under attack.

This one has a you-can-put-the-book-down-now conclusion. Most of the previous questions have been answered. Others have become much more important, and Book #4 – Cuff Lynx – is primed and ready to take the story further.

A personal pet peeve: Many thrillers, across many genres, as well as many forms of media, involve the reader or viewer as a bystander, for a situation or scene where the antagonist is a prisoner of the Evil Villain. The Villain makes it clear that the protagonist will be killed, but first, the Villain takes the time to brag and to gloat, to explain his or her plan in detail; to make it clear that the protagonist is not worthy of the Villain’s genius. The Villain even answers questions, because each one provides another level of gloating and is then used to highlight how pathetic the antagonist is; how cleverly the prisoner has been played all along.
And, of course, the tables are then turned, and Good triumphs over Evil. Apparently the Villain has not read thrillers or watched them on television or at the theatre. Because, if he or she was as clever and intelligent as claimed, that Villain would simply have killed the prisoner on the spot, and then moved on with the plan to take over the world, or whatever.

Just saying.

Some part is the book and the characters, I really liked. I didn’t like how they made Lexi size 2 and double DD, like she had to be the most beautiful and couldn’t be anywhere close to normal looking.
Some parts of the plot didn’t connect. For example, how did Iniquus find the Honduran prison? We know they got the file about Maria but there was nothing there about the prison or airport.
And the whole story of her losing her virginity and then they made love all night, doesn’t happen like that. She would have been sore and he would have been unfeeling and self centered to do that.
Overall, some parts about the story I liked but this book really needed some editing with a critical eye. I have read some later series and though there are a few inconsistencies in those books, not as many as this series.
I should get a job editing because these items were pretty obvious.
I originally rated this book 2 stars because of the editing issues, but changed it to 3 stars since I wanted to read the next book in the series.

Best Laid Plans

Lexi is a remarkable puzzler for Iniquus, a private paramilitary security agency. She uses her particular and unusual talents to figure out which criminal, political and cartel influences are trying to overthrow established institutions. The trails she finds and follows send her down complicated, dangerous and, seemingly, never-ending routes. She primarily works with Striker Team of Iniquus. Striker is the team leader and Lexi' s love. Her innate abilities to puzzle and feel threats do not stop her from horrible situations. This story starts with Lexi recovering from an almost fatal plane crash. Racing against time to find out who, and why, people are trying to kill her is a fascinating and convoluted exercise for Lexi and her team. Several hair raising interludes of vicious and menacing assaults make this story an engrossing adventure very hard to not pursue. Dramatic and hypnotic story telling.

Intriguing Puzzler

I'm finding it difficult to explain my good vs not so good reasoning for this series. I like the plots but find them to be slow at times. But isn't that part of a good mystery? I'm starting to wonder if it's going to take the whole series to finish the puzzle and can I stick with it to the end. I like Lynx, the description of her being unschooled, how her brain works differently and her psychic abilities that are a little different than others I have read. But I also want to swat her sometimes. That's good character building by the author. I think I'll have to find the other books to get more backstory on the other team members before I continue with Lynx. A good/bad disquieting part was her physical description after imprisonment. Considering that, I don't think her Physical Terrorist would have been able to begin her rehab so aggressively. (Those of you who have had PT know what I mean.)

This book was slow. Most of the book was about her injuries and physical and mental recovery and it when on for chapters. The men were saints to put up with her. Her slow romance finally happened over the half way point in this book three. Before that the author made us wonder if the relationship would ever happen; and I really thought Lexi was too immature and emotional to handle any relationship at that point.

I barely gave it 3 stars but the ending picked up some so my 2 starts went up one. The author spent most of the book setting up all the intricate parts; however, with each of the parts there was endless unneeded detail. I kept thinking about another author that said that each scene should have a purpose and I finally hardly cared about the puzzle because it involved so many people. I really think it should be 2 stars but I did listen to the whole audiobook, which was borrowed from the library.

I got hooked on this series when one of the books went on sale, and I haven't been able to stop reading! Quinn has an excellent grasp of timing, pacing, and tension-building, as well as a great imagination to make her quirky character work. There are paranormal elements, but this series reads like a thriller. Well drawn characters, fantastic plotting and execution.

I read Chain Lynx and Cuff Lynx, back-to-back, so I give them the same review (since I don't rehash the storyline you can read in the blurb for yourself). The books are worth the reading, especially if you don't value your sleep and reading to 3am (because you can't put the damn things down) is okay with you. Chain Lynx is pretty intense, and ends on a cliffhanger- you may as well buy books 3 and 4 together, as they segue from one to the next.
