An amazing collection of 11 short, Summer Camp Slashers! These stories are the absolute definition of Summerween because wow! Each author brought their own twisted summer camp stories, some were the regular, scary fireside stories you hear to give the kids the heebies. Others were their own insane twist to "The bad side of summer camp". I loved every bit of it!
This is my first anthology book where i loved EVERY story. Usually with anthologies there’s some that are great then some not so great. Shout out to ALL the authors for these great stories. you truly get a little bit of everything in this book. killers on the loose in the woods, my girls Catalina and Sadie Rae, werewolf’s, spiders, bugs, moths, ghosts, demons, drugs, bachelorette trip gone wrong. Hard to choose which story was my favorite because i enjoyed them all. I would definitely fall for the finial act tho, cause who wouldn’t want to try and survive their favorite horror movie. Or maybe the final girls trip because who wouldn’t want someone that obsessed with them 🤷🏻♀️

Summer of fright, spooks, desire n blood.. and some crazy can't handle the high ride old bitties. This book has it all to satisfy your summer slash campfire crave.
There are twelve stories for the sake of my goal to cover each story. I'm giving myself three to four sentences as a limit, but rest assured. They all deserve more.
1. (Hell in The Holler by E.K. Dusk)
This was a beautiful opening to the anthology, clean and tightly paced, beautifully written. That double twist! Nuff said, an absolute banger of start and I'm now fully smitten with the Bagman and anything having to do with "him". Prose, Characters, Pacing, Top notch, Bravo!
2. (Camp Claw by Asher Redd)
Sadie and Cat's relationship is very grounded in their perceptions of each other, how they communicate and interact. This created such a smooth transition between perspectives and hardcore immersion. The deaths of the boys were satisfying and gruesome, gnarly work. This is a well written, gorey and tight revenge story with a believable and heartfelt core.
3. (Moonboys by J.D. Midnight)
Heheh Bloodborne ref off rip is cheating, okay review starts now! What in the Eldritch fever dream did I just read? Wow you nailed the disorienting effects of cosmic mind assimilation by an otherworldly and powerful entity. Genuinely top notch cosmic horror that infected my mind just as much as Doorframe's. Well done and one of my favorites.
4. (Flypaper by Sylvia Morrow)
A hot and heavy horror show of twists and sticky substances. I loved it, I'm always happy when a story can evoke a myriad of emotions out of me. Well written and riveting, absolutely sick!
5. (#FINALACT by Luna Tix)
The slasher experience beautifully executed and embodied. The progression of the night from beginning to end had me in an absolute chokehold. There was a small part of me hoping that the theatrics were just that good, but unfortunately for Jo and Landon... My hopes were misplaced.
6. (Deep in the Shadows by Dakota Wilde)
Luna lovingly ensured Camp Crimson lived up to its name. Bloody and bug filled paranormal nightmare with a fun first person perspective from the horror herself. I really enjoyed this ghostly slashaton.
7. (Make You Smile by Moxie St. Henry)
This story made me do a lot of things... Smile was one of them. Frown, gasp, gawk, and seventeen more expressions I won't list. This story was great, absolutely another one of my favorites, from the character work to the twists and turns. The storytelling and pacing, here were also truly top notch, dope :D!
8. (Sole Survivor by O.D. Emma)
This is a heartwarming and heartbreaking neck snipper. What a beautifully written glimpse into a young women's resolution with the ghosts of her past. I was very impressed with how much of this story ebbs and flows between time periods seamlessly. Very well done!
9. (The Adventures Of Ruth & Martha by Kinsley Kincaid)
HILARIOUS little raunchy rump, that had me sold at the webbed wonderment and MooMoo Magic. I adore Kincaid's sense of humor and clear understanding of Ruth and Martha as characters. The voices were so clear and distinct allowing the story to unfold gorgeously!
10. (Last Night by Lo Gold & Luna K. Wicked)
Eloquent and flavorful as a fellow writer of sinful solutions to an afternoon alone. This one really hit home for me from the premise to the prose, to the voice and venacular, the kind of sick stuff that really makes my day. Probably my favorite story in this anthology. Warmed my heart, y'all truly, cooked, and it was scrumptious.
11. (Final Girl's Trip by K.T. Madden)
What an ending, what a story, what a salacious nightmare. This story was brutal, beautiful, touching and terrifying. I enjoyed this probably too much, taken for a ride that I could not take my eyes off of. Cecelia, honestly, I'm happy for you.
The sheer work and passion behind this Anthology both by Lucy Ghoulie who organized and serves as a witty campfire story teller between each story, and every single author involved is stunning, breathtaking, and mind boggling. This Anthology is not only incredibly polished, well formatted, full of gorgeous full spread page illustrations, organized, an absolute steal and a must buy in paperback because digital can't do it justice. I'm incredibly proud to have a copy on my shelf forever. The Summer Camp Slasher Anthology is the absolute peak of quality surpassing industry standard going above and beyond to create something one of a kind. This while having all proceeds going to No Kid Hungry... Wow. This is something unbelievable and to not have your own copy is such a painfully missed opportunity that I am genuinely heartbroken for anyone who misses it. Congratulations to everyone involved in this project because you're apart of something truly special. Lucy Ghoulie is the best anthologist in the business without a doubt in my mind. I can't wait for Neon Lights.

˙˚•∘•˚˙˚•︎︎ ☠︎︎ •˚˙˚•∘•˚˙ ✨ thankU Lucy Ghoulie, JD Midnight, & Sylvia Morrow for these eARCs & am voluntarily leaving my honest thoughts ‼️ ur mental health matters. ✔️ 🆃🆆/🅲🆆
A super fun collection of stories curated by Ghoulie herself (and major props for the work that must have taken) with all proceeds going to No Kid Hungry. Let's talk about it.
Hell in the Holler fit the theme of this anthology perfectly, setting an amazing tone and a fun dynamic between all of the characters. Camp Claw is my second chance at getting to read about Sadie and Cat and just makes me want even more of the pair. Moonboys was a personal favorite and JD Midnight has a new fan. Flypaper was a fun twist on a classic, with a few bits that are generally unsettling. #FinalAct made for a great modern take on the slasher, though it felt off-mark in the thematic of the overall book. Deep in the Shadows was fun, but I wanted more to it and some of the character decision making, while true to the genre, felt jarring. Make You Smile was predictable (if you care about that sort of thing) but very entertaining. The Adventures of Ruth and Martha just didn't hit for me, but can see how it would be a lot of reader's favorites. Same with Last Night, which felt more like an epilogue to the tale I really wanted. Lastly, Final Girl's Trip has that dark romance horror vibe that some people are really into.
All throughout, Ghoulie's campfire narrator sets the scene, harkening back to old school anthology tv shows where everything was woven and interconnected to keep the viewer's attention and set the tone for what follows. I really appreciated these bits, and it showed how much love Ghoulie put into this collection. All in all, this is an easy five star read. Not every story was my cup of tea, but as a whole, it just works.
Great anthology filled with 11 summer camp themed stories from different authors. Perfect Summerween read!
I liked how each of the authors did interpret the summer camp theme in different ways and brought their own twist to the story. But even though the stories were different, they worked nicely together. The little intermissions / interludes between the stories helped to tie everything together and were also a nice introduction to the stories.

And like with Lucy’s previous anthology, Venom, most of this anthology’s authors were already familiar to me, but I also found a few whose books I hadn’t read before but now need to check out.
I highly recommend checking out this anthology!
I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review. Receiving ARC didn’t affect my opinion of the book. I have also beta read The Adventures of Ruth & Martha previously, but that didn’t affect my opinion of the story.
Note: this review is for Flypaper by Sylvia Morrow. I have not yet read the other stories in this anthology. But I will!
I’m a huge fan of horror when it’s done well… and this was SO well done! Morrow literally slays the genre, wrapping it all up in a neat web that has me wanting more in this world. Or more horror from her. Either way, I’ll be happy.
This novella focuses on a friend group of 4 young women going on a weekend long camping expedition with a single guide to a remote location with a healing pond. No technology. No vehicles. Hike in, camp, hike out.
But they discover something else living in these woods. Something that’s hungry for food AND for breeding.
There’s death galore, sticky bug and spider creature glory, tentacles and egg implanting. What’s not to love?!? What there ISN’T is a romance HEA, so please don’t expect that. This is horror through and through.
Thanks so much to Sylvia for having me on her ARC team. All opinions are honestly given.
I swear to the old gods. If Ash writes it I’m gonna devour it.
Sadie and Catalina are perfection. Their storyline’s are are always written perfectly and keep you hooked !!
Ash absolutely nails the aesthetic everytime. Every page feels like it was ripped from a beat-up VHS tape found in a bargain bin at a defunct video store. It’s campy in all the right ways, mean-spirited in the ways that actually matter, and packs a twist that genuinely feels like a sharp jab to the ribs.
If Your Vibe is 90s Slasher Vibes. Ash Redd and Camp Claw are waiting for you!
I received Camp Claw by author Ash Redd who story is featured in the anthology. I loved it. It was so good for a short story. It had the perfect elements of horror mix with romance. I also loved the setting at a camp. I loved the characters. In addition, the writing was great. I loved where the story ended. Overall, a great short story. I cannot wait to read the rest of the novels within the anthology. I want to thank Ash Redd for giving me the opportunity to read the earc early as part of her arc and street team member.
This anthology was nothing less than amazing. Lucy did such a wonderful job orchestrating this whole thing and tying all of the stories together with her narration bits in between each story, which gave me major Crypt Keeper vibes! These stories to me aren’t just slashers, they feel like stories that could be told as scary stories around the campfire. I think each of the authors did a great job creating a unique array of creepy, bloody stories that kept me on the edge of my seat until the end of each one!
This was such a fun collection of shorts and all brought something different to the table. I think my top three favorites were Moonboys by JD Midnight for the comedy it brought to the anthology, Flypaper by Sylvia Morrow for definitely giving me the heebs, and Final Girls Trip by KT Maddan just bringing the unhinged and spice to the anthology 😈😈. The intermission parts of the story definitely gave the vibes of being around a campfire telling stories and I was living for it 💜💜
To be honest, I only started reading this anthology because of the prequel, "The Last Night," by Lo Gold and Luna K. Wicked, and I was very pleased. I spent the last day of summer with the book without stopping for a minute. It's the perfect campfire story, dark and frightening, making the hairs on my arms stand on end. I also have great respect for the fact that the book written by the authors is dedicated to charity. You're great, keep up the good work.
I read Camp Claw by Ash Redd and y'all seriously this story was fricken AMAZING it has the feel of the old 80s - 90s slasher movies and just leaves you begging for more... absolutely makes me want to read the whole Anthology and see what the other authors came up with as well...
Another incredibly anthology put together by Lucy! The stories were creepy, hilarious, and a few left me staring at the wall wondering what the heck I just read!
Loved every single story in this book and I can’t wait to grab a physical copy to go next to the last antho.
Highlight for me was seeing Ruth & Martha again. I instantly knew I was going to be laughing at their antics!
This was so good! Absolutely one of my favorite anthologies!!
Each horror story is unique and was making me hold my pillow! I could not get enough! The moment I started it I just had to keep reading it wzs so addictive!
This is absolutely an anthology to recommend if you love slasher horror, paranormal horror and horror that really messes with your head like no other!
Five stars! 🔪🏕️ This book had me hooked from the first page. It’s crappy, clever, and impossible to put down. 🌲👀
The atmosphere is perfect for a slasher fan, and the writing kept me guessing and turning pages late into the night. 🌙📖 It’s one of those reads that sticks with you long after you’ve turned finish. 🖤
Highly recommended for anyone who loves horror with a little something extra! 🩸✨
I love Dead Emma horror so I was excited to see this new direction for one of my faves. It had all the things I love about horror - it made me uncomfortable, showed me a new thing to be concerned with, and left me with no words.
The author line up is amazing and so are their stories. I was interested in everyone of them. These stories compiled together made me feel every emotion. Some were darker than others and that's ok. The pace and vibes were great.
This is a banger for a good cause. Every short story gave off that sitting around the campfire feel, with each author spinning tales that kept you on the edge of your seat while leaving you flabbergasted by what you'd just read. I loved every second of it
A couple of these were great slasher stories! Especially the first and last ones, and of course my girl Kinsley Kincaid absolutely never misses. But some of them are also god awful, aren't even slashers or aren't even taking place around summer camps??
I genuially enjoyed every story in the anthology. This was a great group of authors. The spooy and the spice level varies from story to story , which is cool. Very enjoyable collection.
I really enjoyed all of the slasher stories from this amazing charity anthology. Each unique and quick reads. I took my time to read this one and I enjoyed each one!
