Ruth Cardello was born the youngest of 11 children in a small city in northern Rhode Island. She spent her young adult years moving as far away as she could from her large extended family. She lived in Boston, Paris, Orlando, New York--then came full circle and moved back to New England. She now happily lives one town over from the one she was born in. For her, family trumped the warmer weather and international scene.
She was an educator for 20 years, the last 11 as a kindergarten teacher. When her school district began cutting jobs, Ruth turned a serious eye toward her second love- writing and has never been happier. When she's not writing, you can find her chasing her children around her small farm or connecting with her readers online.

Review of advance copy received from Author
Although this one started out a little slowly for me, I did enjoy seeing Brady interact with all the different people he encountered. As the story progressed, it definitely picked up and pulled me in more.
So, the mystery continues. I’m not upset about that. I really enjoyed watching Elise blossom around Brady, and I loved the dynamic between the two of them.
As secrets were revealed, I found myself surprised by Brady’s reactions. I truly expected him to react in almost the exact opposite way, which made those moments even more interesting.
I loved the way Elise embraced not only her new life, but also the residents of Firebrook Valley and Firebrook Valley itself. It really felt like she was beginning to finally find a place where she belonged.
The mystery I thought we were moving toward solving, somehow managed to expand in this book. We were given more information and more pieces of the puzzle, yet somehow those pieces only added more tension and mystery.
I also loved Dominic being involved in everything even if it seems like he and Althea are only hanging around the fringe. His presence adds a level of suspense and anticipation that I don’t think would be there without him.
I am definitely looking forward to the next book because, at this point, I cannot fathom what happened thirty years ago that affected these three men so deeply it is still wreaking havoc among their families.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
